baine - he throws totem, knocks you back.. someone pick it up and throw it on him to stun him = buys us time to kill .... he will eventually jump on 1 person every so often ... this breaks the island... so we move to another..
are all that remain of this sacred place. I sense much anger here... a seething rage, barely held in check. Be on your guard.
You! Are you the ones responsible for what has happened here...?
What dark horrors have you wrought in this place? By my ancestors' honor, I shall take you to task!
There will be no escape!
My wrath knows no bounds!
This is the price you pay!
A just punishment.
Suffer for your arrogance!
Where... is this place? What... have I done? Forgive me, my father...

I find it weird that your able to swim in that lava for a little bit when baine destroys the island that you are on. I guess lava doesn't kill people in the future.
Here's a look at our first time with this encounter. We knew nothing going in, didn't read encounter journal, just ran in and fought him t&s style.
As of last night, he is immune to disarm.
A note for healers... Echo of Baine will smash the island and destroy it thereby falling into the lava and sending your party into the lava, he will stack
on himself and then as long as it lasts (10 secs) he will begin stacking
on tank, this is a magic tick and it
be dispelled. If you do not dispel it you will likely wipe. He keeps applying it as you dispel until
falls off himself. Don't try and out-heal it, while it has been done it is a dumb approach to an otherwise easy mechanic.
BTW I am glad that some of these bosses actually require healers to dispel and pay attention to debuffs. That is how it should be!
EDIT: Not really sure why people down-rate something that hasn't been mentioned yet but is crucial to the fight. I run on PTR and most pug healers do NOT dispel because they don't know. So this is informational and IMO very useful.
A couple important things to note.
Have your range stand somewhat close together on an island seperate from the melee. So far, everytime i've done this boss he throws the totem at the range and then will pulverize shortly after. If one of your range is standing on an island by themselves and gets hit by the totem. By the time he gets back on the island and throws the totem. Baine will pulverize him and you will lose the totem and lose the ability to stun the boss and do some extra damage to him.
So when he throws the totem...whichever range did not get hit by the totem (this includes the healer). Should grab it quickly and throw it at the boss.
Also, an important thing to remember is never allow your entire group to be standing on the same island. If he pulverizes and your all standing on the same island. Someone will die since only druid healers can cast enough instant cast heals to keep 5 people alive while you swim through lava to another island.
Trying to swim the length of the molten lava to retrieve loot should be a bloody achievement in itself!
*Hint: Seal form will get you the loot, but you wont live*
just so u know to throw the totem click it and a green circle appears on the ground. simply drag the circle over to baine and make sure hes not about to cast some spell as that might interrupt it.. anyway just click the totem onto him and he should be stunned. the duration was only like 5 seconds for us but still hes a pretty easy boss.
So ran this last night with my guild, didnt read anything but the dungeon journal before we want, so we had very little idea what to expect. 1st Attempt we all started on the same platform (bad idea) we wiped soon after he broke it! 2nd Attempt we spread out onto 2 platforms, but all ended up on the same one after the first break, wiped again! When it came to the third attempt, we understood where we went wrong, as its a pretty basic fight. Downed him on the 3rd try no problems, and it went as follows.
Firstly i'll number the platforms, #1 is the one the boss stands on, and then clockwise from there.
Platform 1: Tank and Melee
Platform 2: Ranged DPS
Platform 4: Healer
Ok so its basically a tank and spank, start the fight as you normally would, when he throws his totem make sure you throw it back, it hits him for 5% and stuns him. We found he chucks the totem at the ranged dps (but not sure if he always does). Shortly after throwing his totem, he will break a platform, for us it was the ranged dps platform (2), when this happened the ranged dps moved to platform 1, tank and melee moved to platform 4 and healer moved to platform 3. Then tank him a bit longer and he will eventually break another platform, for us he again went for ranged now on platform 1, so they moved to platform 4, tank and melee joined the healer on platform 3. Tank him a bit longer and he will break the 3rd platform, again he went for ranged and broke platform 4, the ranged then joined the rest of the group on platform 3 where we finished the fight. Now the fight might not go in this order, but i think your objective should be to stay spread out for as long as you can, minimising the number of players in the lava at any one time. If you make 3 groups and move in a circle, this is the easiest way (as far as i can tell). If he had of broken the healer platform first (4) we would of just moved in the oposite direction. If he breaks the tank platform first (1) only tank/melee and 1 other group need to move.
Ill be running a few more tonight, hopefully will find out if he does go for the ranged players.
edit: I should point out it is better for your Tank and Healer to wait for ranged players to get out of the lava before they move platforms. Or even anticipate it and move as he does the spell, reaching your new platform before the ranged are even in the lava.
I dont know if this have been mentioned before, but for warriors, dont try to use Heroic Leap to jump to one of four platform, it'll agro him even though you're far away.
Is there some reason people don't clear a bit of the trash here, instead of trying to dodge and wiping about every 3rd or 4th time through? Infinite respawns? A million health? Taking two minutes to kill a couple of the roamers would help immensely.
Pro tip for mages: If you get hit by totem, blink while still in air. Right timing will get you back to the stone platform and will result in "like a boss" feeling. Wrong timing will instead get you "close enough" feeling. If you didnt picture the memes in your head, you are doing it wrong
Whenever Baine dies in the lava I always have the tank go to activate the loot and then I "Leap of Faith" them back to the platform. Works like a charm (also works with a mage or goblin who can leap the distance)
While I found the End Time bosses kind of interesting, with different lore leaders in each shrine, I only ever really felt bad for Baine. He's so.. angry. It's shocking. Combined with his death quote, I found it all more than a little surprising and heartwrenching, two things I was certainly not expecting to feel, especially given my indifference towards the other leaders.
On a more relevant note, for those of you who don't know, throwing his totem back at him not only stuns him, but makes him take more damage for the duration.
Odd note: If you look closely at the ashes falling from the sky, they look like tiny plants. To me they look like turnips.
Soloed this as 533 prot pally. Just really keep your heals and protections up, and use his totem asap.
Baine, bane of timewalkers.
So many wipes on him despite refreshing myself on how the fight works and trying to get people to listen to the mechanics. And on the run back, I see so many ghosts running back in... I can only assume they died to Baine, too.
Don't guess or try to remember mechanics if you keep dying on a fight in a timewalking dungeon. Just look it up. For my repair bill, your repair bill, and your party's repair bill -- and
Crappy boss fight. Imo. I understand fights that are hard but this one has too much lava damage to heal through, and eventually all pugs just give up. Nice try Blizz but you blew it on this one.
Today soloing most heroic over the expansion threshold is not an issue.
Baine was an issue because there are some high damage moments (especially when falling to lava and stuff)
I was lvl 91 Guardian Druid (But geared only in Cata Heroics gear - mix of standard heroics and ZG/ZA)
But good timing of my abilities and mechanics I was managed to kill him on 8th try.
My damage was not an issue at all, his damage, even with flaming axe was still manageable.
But damage from lava and knockbacks into it made it difficult.
Basicly I positioned myself on the edge of the western part of the northern platform, dipped myself in lava, aggroed and used
to pummel him as much as possible.
When he threw totem it knocked me to lava on the east side of northern platform. (refreshed dmg buff)
Used dmg reduction
and run back up, threw totem and healed myself while he was stunned. (I have
Then moved to the edge of northern platform as close to eastern platform as possible.
When he destroyed northern platform I moved to that east one while used
turned my back to southern platform.
Second knockback threm me to the southern wall, so used second stack of

before he was on me again.
Moved my back to the western platform and third knockback luckily threw me exactly on it. I used whatever I had to my disposal and he was almost dead so I've finished him.
ridiculously overtuned for the current Timewalking event.
don't think it's mathematically possible to defeat him before he destroys all 4 islands, even with lust
