Cool, the first 4 comments are absolutely useless.
Shannox's pet in Firelands. He will randomly target someone in the raid, and do massive damage to them. He will stay on this, doing massive damage (starting at 16k damage/sec and increasing from there) and will continue to do this until someone lands a 45k or higher crit on Rageface. This should be top priority among the raid when it happens.
During the fight, this dog can be used to help clear out the Immolation traps that Shannox loves to spam. Standing near them in anticipation of a Face Rage helps with this.
A very important note is to stand far away from crystal traps, as my guild has sometimes had him Face Rage someone, only to get crystallized from a trap a few meters away, which will cut down on DPS time while you wait for the trap to expire or you kill it yourself.
In order to stop Rageface doing
you have to hit him for at least 30k in 10 man version. When your doing 25 man you have to hit him for 45k.
You need to have two people that can almost every time guaranteed to crit 30 or 45k depending on what difficulty.
Your face is being mauled.
30 seconds remaining
Can mages blink/iceblock, or paladins bubble out of this?
Mages can iceblock to avoid damage. Even better using iceblock will prevent him from building stacks of
in heroic mode. This gives more time for traps to get out and put DPS on the boss.
These dogs are slowable in 10 man normal mode. I don't know why this isn't here already, but it is INCREDIBLY helpful if your tank in ten men for Riplimb can slow, as it increases time to get back to Shannox and likely hood to get into a trap.
To people attempting to solo HC Shannox and are getting their faces mauled you have two options:
1) Switch to a tank spec, if your class has one - this will prevent you getting stunned.
2) Apply a dot to Rageface a couple of seconds before he stuns you (this might take some practice with the timing). A few ticks of it and you will be free.
Hope this helps people.
As a Feral, there's not much you can do in 25H. At least, at 650 iLevel.
I've got nothing. I respecced my Secondary into Guardian, so he doesn't do Face Rage. Ignored the dog, and took Shannox out easily.
I've died well over a dozen times today, trying to kill Rageface before they killed me. I tried everything, switching all of my talents, applying every DoT I could think of, then shifting into Bear Form right before they jump on me. There, I actually thought I was onto something. Bear Form does let you survive Face Rage, but immediately after it falls off, Rageface likes to start it up again. If they don't, you're too low on health to DPS Rageface down and
start on the boss.
Unless you're lucky. I succeeded last week, by the skin of my teeth. I'm just not having the same luck this time. I'll update this later if I come up with anything, or if anyone else does.
As a Druid, use Force of Nature talent before Face Rage. Works like charm.
As a Combat Rogue Shadow Reflection did the trick. Used it about 10 seconds in, spammed some sinister strike and an evis, got Face Raged and the Shadow Reflection broke it for me, allowing me to kill the dog before he did it a second time.
Solo for Ret pally. 1st off if u have a tank spec use it and all is well. If not then target Shannox, pop cds, and burn. DO NOT use execution sentence on him. When 1st face rage hits u, use bubble. Keep burning Shannox. Do a long 5 count, target Rageface, use execution sentence on him. Re-target Shannox, keep burning. Worked for me.
If you're having issues and burning / tank spec is not a valid option for your class, start the Alysrazor battle, get 25 stacks of her ring buff, and the next time Shannox approaches Alysrazor's arena, fly to the ground (make sure that you are as close to the ground as possible to avoid reset), and burst him down with the 200-300% haste you receive from the ring stacks.
Edit: This also works when facing Baleroc and Ryolith, you can even re-enter the arena (the flame wall does NOT block entry, only when trying to leave the arena) and go back in the air without resetting her between bosses. Make sure to save her as the last boss to kill before Majordomo.
You can blink out of his attack. For all you handsome Mages out there.
Just a headsup, PVP trinkets will not break you out of Face Rage.
Edit: With the Legion update, any class with a Tank spec can now effortlessly switch to said tanking spec to avoid Face Rage. However, this guide will remain for those who simply do not want to play a tank spec at all.
I've been running through Firelands 25h on multiple alts every week to farm gold and mounts. Shannox, and more specifically Rageface's Face Rage, is the boss that gave me the most consistent trouble. Over time, however, I have found a few abilities that will break Face Rage. For tanking classes, fighting in your tanking spec will make Rageface unable to target you with Face Rage. However, all of these tactics ar e taken from the perspective of one who does not have a tanking spec and does not wish to get one. Note that the Human Racial does not work, nor do any pvp trinkets.
: Pet attacks. My hunter is well-geared, and able to burst Shannox down with lone wolf before the first Face Rage. However, for those without the necessary burst, have your pet on passive, and when you pull, have it attack Rageface. Your pet will hit Rageface shortly after the Face Rage and break you free. If you are Marksmanship, be sure to not take the Lone Wolf talent when running, as this will prevent you from summoning a pet.
: Same deal as with the Hunters. Put your pet on passive, stick it on Rageface, and burn Shannox down.
: I go Retribution with the Kazzak leech trinket for most of my Cataclysm raid farming on my Paladin. Both Divine Shield and Hand of Protection break Face Rage, and can be used while pinned. I. Remember that both spells apply forbearance and cannot be used while you have forbearance, so on consecutive Face Rage's there will be a few seconds after he pounces you before you can break out again.
: Rolling through as Shadow. Simply keeping Shadow Word: Pain rolling on Rageface will be sufficient to break Face Rage, allowing you to burn Shannox down with little difficulty. Do note that Vampiric Embrace seems to not heal you for the full 10% of the damage you deal, so you will be relying on Leech from your gear to sustain yourself. Mindbender will also break Face Rage.
: My main class, I roll through Firelands in my normal Frost gear, but with a single trinket swapped out for the Kazzak Leech trinket to be safe. Remorseless Winter works well to break it, though you need to time it right - mis-time it, and you'll be stuck for the entire Face Rage. Time it right, and it'll break you out, and be off cooldown in time for the next Face Rage. For Unholy, you can use your ghoul to break Face Rage in the same way as described in the Hunter section above, or use Death and Decay as a Frost DK would use Remorseless Winter.
: - With the Removal of Shadow Reflection, the previous tactic listed does not work. I have yet to try again with my Rogue, though a quick glance makes me believe that only Assassination and/or Subtelty will be able to break Face Rage.
: Running as Windwalker, I simply used Storm, Earth, and Fire a few seconds into the fight. The clones would hit Rageface when I got pinned, breaking Face Rage. For those with lower gear, note that SEF has two charges, allowing you to break 2 Face Rages.
: My Shaman is elemental, and very low geared (Around 670). My strategy involved burning Rageface down before Shannox. I had Flame Shock rolling on Rageface, which broke the Face Rage. I did nearly die to the bleed after the fight, due to me having low gear (And, admittedly, not being the best Shaman). I still need to test whether or not Enhancement can break Face Rage.
: My mage is primarily Frost, and so simply sticking the Water Elemental on passive and putting it on Rageface (Much like Hunters and Warlocks do with their pets) is sufficient for breaking Face Rage. For Arcane and Fire, I would recommend taking Mirror Images and using those on Rageface to burn him down before Shannox. Be aware, however, that even in 690-ish gear that burning the dogs down first can lead Shannox to be able to kill you before you can beat him. If you can, I would strongly recommend using Frost's Water elemental.
I have more alts, but have not run them through Firelands yet - will update as I experiment with them, and find more ways to break this irritating ability that has halted numerous runs through 25h Firelands. Hopefully this has helped.
I killed Shannox using Unholy DK,It's simple. When Rageface stuns you,put the attack marker of your pet on Rageface so the pet can free you from the stun then nuke Shannox OR use a tank spec and nuke Shannox
Sadly, even though Beast Lore says they are, neither Rageface nor Riplimb are tameable. I just tried. And if you try to kill Shannox first, then all three die and you can't tame anyway.
