Found this yellow (neutral) rare mob kneeling next to
's corpse @ the lake SE to the Golden Pagoda, Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Coords: 62.1, 55.2
: New location is 69:30 for the Patch 5.3 (thx to Chaosshadow13)
Just killed him as a level 87 prot paladin and he dropped a ilvl 440 healing cloak.
he has a very basic rotation water bolt, rain dance, water bolt, torrent
you can interrupt water bolt and torrent but rain dance you can not but the damage from rain dance is very avoidable.
Killed him as a lv 90 hunter at 6:23 am realm. Used silencing shot when he began to cast torrent as that's the skill most likely to kill your pet. Save
for when he casts Rain Dance. Keep up mend pet. Other than that blow all your cds and hope for the best.
He dropped only a str cloak
for me. I was expecting the vanity item but either the drop rate isn't 100% or it was removed from the live release. Need more data.

Immune to Psychic Horror on all spells. Not soloable by shadow priest.
Killed as a 90 frost mage, somewhat difficult. All the dropped was a DPS strength cloak, not worth it.
Basically all I did was run around and spam ice lance, freezing/deep freezing whenever I could for extra damage. I started off with icy veins/mirror image which gives you about 20 seconds of burn time so I got him to 75%. When they came off CD I popped them again and finished him off. Interrupt torrent ASAP, run around when he is casting rain dance, and have ice barrier up for the nuke.
For Hunters (and I assume other pet classes) that don't have an extra stun for Rain Dance and/or it is on CD, manually recalling your pet can protect it from Rain Dance
All Jinyu rares have the same set of abilities.
Water Bolt is interruptable, but the damage is negligible in comparison to Torrent. Save your interrupts for Torrent.
Torrent is a channeled spell with a cast time. This spell will kill you in very short order, so interrupt it during the cast time.
Rain Dance is a Jinyu rare's most deadly ability, capable of one-shotting an equal level player if hit. It has a cast time and channel and is immune to interrupts, but can be stopped by stuns or knockbacks. However, save these until after the Jinyu has completed the cast and begun the channel, or it will just start casting the spell again after the effect wears off.
Found him next to the corpse as mentioned, but not able to attack him. Listed as neutral, but no sword icon, just the usual hand. Bugged? Or do you have to do something to get to him?
Killed him as a lv90 Blood Knight. Dropped a healing cloak?
Be careful not to run too far away when he casts 'Rain Dance' as he resets quite easily.
, currently showing a 9% drop rate. An awesome item to farm for as this item will remain useful in WoW as expansions and content come and go. Personally I'm farming it to use in BGs or world PVP as needed.
Currently at 10 kills on Sahn as a disc priest; the first four kills I had a hunter paired with me, and the next six have been solo. Still no
yet, but I'll get there eventually.
After not being able to handle
the first few solo attempts, I got a handle on the
method. It is important to time this cast correct, or it won't be up when you need it next. I cast it on Sahn when he is around 50% thru casting
to ensure that it is active when he casts
, and the CD is up for the next
--not to mention, if you get it out too late, he will still target you and not the tendril.
Once you get that down, avoiding
is easy enough. Just keep moving and you should be fine.
Copying this tip from Nalash Verdantis because it makes the fight a LOT easier:
The Rain Dance can be completely ignored if you fight him in the water, rather than on the island. It will only splash on the bottom of the lake, making it completely harmless.
Found him this morning, used my Voidlord to tank him. He dropped
, and a
which contained a stack of Snow Lily, 2 stacks of Ghost Iron Ore, 2 Mote of Harmony and 21g 62s 5c.
Didn't see any spawn timer info on this guy. Found dead body at 10:08, body despawned at 10:10. Respawned at 11:00
To all hunter!
Use all u can do to interrept/incapacited him!
Put a gorilla and a sporebat in ur stamped, use your silence shot and readiness well. For this npc, i usually use a core hound to make the fight shorter and use the talent exhiliration. With all this tips, your pet never gonna die and event if that happen, just hit heart of the phoenix. Keep on mend pet and nuke him!.
Its event easier for engeneers who have a frag bomb on belt and a high powered bolt gun.
Just soloed as a Blood Elf Disc Priest! Just use your mindbender before torrent and fade, and he'll focus on it. If you are a BE, you have an Arcane Torrent as well, use it before second torrent to interrupt it. That should give your Mindbender time to recharge before the third Torrent. On the fourth Torrent, if you still haven't killed him before then, focus on keeping yourself alive with Spirit Shell + Power Shield + Pain Suppression and heals, do whatever you can and you should survive. Then fifth Torrent, your mindbender should be active again. I killed him using this strategy. Works with any Jinyu rare. Good luck!
Soloed this guy as a Prot Warrior (lvl 90 w/472 Item Level), For each of his abilities i did the following
Water Bolt-Spell Reflect, Pummel or Disrupting Shout
Torrent-Pummel or Disrupting Shout
Rain Dance-Waited till he stopped casting & started channeling the spell & then either did Shockwave or backed up during the casting & Charged stunned him
While he was stunned i used bandages & popped Enraged Regeneration everytime it was up, I also disarmed him whenever it was up
Solo'd as a lvl 90 Balance Druid.
Just keep your interrupts handy, I had Mighty Bash, Solarbeam, and Typhoon that all interrupted his Torrent. I also had Nature's Grace to help heal myself in a pinch, and kept HoTs on at all times.
Like others said, stay in the water to nullify his Rain Dance which is a wonderful way to make sure you can save your interrupts for Torrent which is the only real attack you need to watch out for with any Jinyu rare.
Hope this helps!
While you can not interrupt Rain Dance, you can use a crowd control ability to stop his cast, i.e. a monk's paralyze or stuns. To my knowledge, most rares are fear-immune. It's important to use the CC ability after he's finished the cast stage of Rain Dance so it will be put on cooldown and not immediately be re-cast after the CC is broken/wears off.
A very hard fight for a human shadowpriest. Use silence, dispersion and silence once again for the 3 x Torrent he will cast. Use tendrils/shadowfiend + fade for extra free uptime on him and of course practice your rain dance avoidance.
Took me 3 times to down him.
EASY WAY TO FIGHT THIS GUY:
I was fighting him today and realized if you go far underwater his rain-dance will NOT hit you. However you will have to interrupt his torrents but that is easier because rain dance has the metal bracket around it, so Rogues cant kick that etc.
Right, as far as I know (seeing the comments on other Jinyu rares) there isn't really a clear cut definition of what a fight must look like in order for yourself to win. So, here goes...
First of all, the main dps of this rare is, as explained, Water Bolt. Although the damage is explained as negligible, I would say you still need to keep an eye out for it, and if you have a spare interrupt / damage nullifier, you might as well use it, right? As a level 90 Rogue, I tended to use a Cloak of Shadows or even Kick, and you save having to worry about -40k~ hp.
Secondly, there is Torrent. Simply put, do not let this cast, or once again, use a damage nullifier. I always made sure I had Kick ready for this, but Kidney Shot works, Blind works, indeed any interrupt. Cloak of Shadows used before he casts it will also make him stop channeling it, so problem solved.
And last but by no means least, Rain Dance! Now this is a tricky lady-dog, I remember the first Jinyu rare I tried to kill, I wiped twice. It wasn't fun. To save you the sweaty run back from the graveyard wondering if someone has got to YOUR rare mob, allow me to explain that not only is this avoidable, but it's actually
to do so.
When he begins casting this bad boy, as a melee, you take a step back and ready yourselves for what you think is a useless spell cast by Magikarp. However, one of these little orbs will hit you for about 180k hp, so what do you do! YOU
! Well, not
. What you must do now is avoid this orbs as best as you can. If you stand in one spot, one of these orbs will come right at your face, so the main point is to
. If you keep your camera centered on the Jinyu rare, you'll be able to see the approximate path of said orb, and you will be able to run to a spot where it won't land. Keep doing this until the spell is over.
Remember also to try not to run too far away from said Jinyu - too far out, and he will reset. Painful, personal experience. The easiest way to make sure you don't end up too far from the rare's spawn point is to kite him in a circle with each Rain Dance. So, if you imagine you start at point A and fight to your first Rain Dance, try to end up a couple yards south-west of Point A. With the next Rain Dance, move south-east of Point B. With the next, move north-east to Point C. With another, north-west to Point A again etc etc.
Sahn Tidehunter I soloed as a iLvl 450 Rogue, so neither dps nor gear amazing.
It can be done by anyone, with sufficient fight knowledge!
By damage nullifier, I mean anything that lowers damage taken, ie SPriest ->Dispersion.
Hope this helps, happy hunting!
Just go into the middle of the pond and fight him there. If you are at the surface the Rain Dance can't hurt you. Easily soloable if you have a short CD interrupt.
Easy fight for L90 Mage. Hit, interrupt, mirror image before his next cast, keep hitting and he's done. Too easy. I haven't seen anything else this easy for a Mage. The Death Night who battled before me also won with minimal damage but it took a lot longer.
Spawned at 69.4, 30.6, Southeast of the Shrine of the Two Moons.
New spawn location is at the lake just south-east of the horde city in vale of eternal blossoms.
Look for the dead crab - Carapin. That's his spawn point.
K, ever since patch 5.3, he has moved to the lake just south-east of Shrine of Two Moons.
As a rogue fighting him before, I would just kick torrent, and stun him when he used rain dance.. he is EASY if you do that, and everyone can if you're smart.
Since 5.3's release, the rare can be found at co-ords: 69 30
As of Patch 5.3 since Orcs and Goblins started mining the lake in which he spawned he can be found on the shore of the northern part of the pond that surrounds Mogu'Shan palace, he's seen conteplating the corpse of a huge crab called Carapin.
The Coords are exactly 69,43 - 30,22
He has a single spawn point and he doesn't wander around just as before.
For those of you without coordinates, just circle around the northern part of the pond you'll easily find it mostly because the corpse of Carapin does not despawn therefore making it easier to spot the spawn point.
i'll add a little comment for any rogue that has trouble soloing the fish looking fella :
I have my little system to stay roughly always over 30% hp despite any of Sahn's attempt to pwn me :
as an assassination rogue i start off by doing the usual rotation opening with garrote will give u more time before the first water bolt.
use dismantle asap as it will considerably lower his dmg and being a 1 min cd u will probably be able to use it twice in the fight.
DO NOT interrupt water bolts, save your kick for torrent, instead use cloak of shadows.
use evasion if u see ur hp going a bit too low
during rain dance make sure to run around him quite close, that will make u dodge the damage and let u him him with either mutilate or dismantle if it procs
use the rain dance cast time to use any combo points u have to use recuperate
a stun can be helpful to regain some health, but we are talking about at least a 4/5 combo points to be an effective helt regen
this way you will bring him down pretty fast, u will take a bit more damage but if done correctly u shouldn't drop lower than 30%
I am doing this regoularly with full honor pvp set and windsong on weapons, so nothing fancy.
Btw i am over 15 kills and no acqua jewel but both me and sahn are enjoying our hourly appointment :)
And now where is this mob? there is a digsite ...
Has anyone received the Aqua Jewel drop since the last patch?
I have killed Sahn Tidehunter many many times in his new location but still cant get the Aqua Jewel to drop.
How can I confirm that the Aqua Jewel is still part of his drops?
What's his respawn time?
I ended up using my Falling Flame over the top of this guy, going to go for quests in Kun'lai, and saw the name. I didn't know he spawned in his new spot, but saw the name. I loaded the WoWhead page while I was flying back, but it wasn't loading. I killed him and it dropped.
I'm not accustomed to using typhoon or solar beam on my boomkin, so his torrent ability killed me every attempt I made on this guy. Third time around I used
Thick Pi'Jiu Brew
to summon some help. The extra DPS meant I could burn him down before he ever got to torrent.
i started camping this guy at 6:30 am ST (US Aerie Peak) and downed him at 7:12 am. hope that helps with spawn time!
Spawn timer varies between 40-60minutes.
23 kills to loot toy
Kill timers I managed to get in last two days:
13:52 (1h 16min)
15:10 (1h 18min)
11:23 (1h 13min)
12:11 (48min - shortest)
13:32 (1h 21min)
14:45 (1h 13min)
16:18 (1h 33min - longest)
Excluding that extremely short respawn time of 48 minutes, which might be caused by realm acting up weird (lags and weird phase shifts), it is safe to assume that Sahn Tidehunter's respawn timer ranges from 1h to 1h30min.
I don't have more samples because I just dropped my
and moved on to the next elites with toys.
Toy is still dropping. For anyone who is curious.
I just got the toy on the first kill at 1:07 PM mountain time.
Does anyone how often they respawn?
Can Anybody confirm if this toy still drops? Farmed in on several realms with Warmode on and off for 3 Weeks now and no toy for me. Close to 100 kills
