Ski'thik is in Kun-Lai summit at Kota Peak 39, 79
Can be seen while questing in Kota Peak, has 2,442,000 (2.4M) health. Hits for ~68k on my lvl 87 priest in quest greens/dungeon blues. Definitely not solo-able as of now unless your like a geared 90 DK
EDIT: Level 90 goblin mage solo'd him relatively easily dropped
Bracers of the Frozen Summit
for him. Shows what I know about MoP.
Level 88 Elite with 2442k hp. He is standing on a peak next to a traveler's bag - he is hostile so if you approach him, you will body pull him if too close.
As a level 88 SPriest in beta, I was able to get him down to 1/4 health until he put some sort of stun or slow down on me so it was hard to run from Blade Flurry.
He melees you approximately 4 times in a row for about 12k total, not bad if you have a shield or a HoT.
He will then Blade Flurry you - he channels it so it's a stand still & will rapidly melee you for approximately 75.2k each hit (at level 88, he hit me three times and I died - I was at full health before he struck me with Blade Flurry). When he casts this Blade Flurry, you don't want to be standing anywhere in front of him. As soon as he starts to cast it, make sure you jump past him so you are in back of him - he will not turn to face you once he starts channeling the Blade Flurry.
He throws out Tornado Harsh Winds in a circular pattern, which rotate in a circle around the particular area he cast it, so stay out of it even after you kite it. It does approximately 74.5k Nature damage every time it hits you.
Rinse and repeat for all three.
soloed as enhance-shaman at lv 87. It was pretty fun, you just gotta go either behind it or back out of the tornado and blade flurry. otherwise not too tough.
A fun thing about this encounter if you're on a PVP realm - if someone tries to kill you while you're fighting this rare, try to kite your attacker into one of this monster's aoes - either
. If you can avoid them yourself and stun your attacker in one of those abilities, well, let's just say you won't have to worry much about your attacker anymore.
Do NOT underestimate this guy. His whirlwind and blade flurry abilities hit like a truck full of other trucks.
Clear out some goats to make room for kiting, you will need a lot. Do it quick before they respawn! Don't forget to use all your CC abilities, disarms, etc.
Just soloed this as a level 87 rogue on Grim Batol EU 10 AM server time. Took me ~3 min to get him down, I ended up on just about 15k hp left after the tought fight. I had to keep my Paralytic poison up and kite him with Rapture, Deadly Poison and Recuperate for most of the fight. The only time I actually attacked him was to apply my poison and rapture, which was during the Blade Flurry.
If hit by the tornado you will take around 78,000 damage, so be careful!
I tried and failed - twice.
Okay the second time was after he'd killed me the first time, but still. I'm a retri paladin level 89 and normally I don't have an issue with the Pandaria rares but this guy has some serious hits in him.
I tried to kite him and avoid the tornado and blade flurry but he still killed me.
I would bring a friend or two.

Easily soloed as a level 88 hunter. Send pet in, keep mend pet up.
Easily Soloed the second time I attacked him as a Spriest.. Void Tendrils Glyph of Mind Flay and Body and Soul let me never be touched. Took about 2 mins to kill with the kiting. Clear some area if you can to give yourself to room to pull with out getting adds
Can be found at 69' 79', which is the south west end of the mountain. Easily doable if you have a pet (warlocks and hunters). Otherwise, DoT him up and kite. Rinse and repeat.
Mantid are probably the deadliest rares in Pandaria, as their mechanics have the fewest countermeasures.
Windsong is a Mantid's weakest ability. The Mantid gains attack damage and movement speed, and cannot be snared, rooted, or slowed. Be ready to heal or use a defensive cooldown.
Tornado creates a persistent whirlwind that orbits your location when the spell was cast, dealing massive damage if it comes in contact with you. Try to place these in locations you can stay out of for a while, but be ready to deal with multiples as they last long enough for two or three to be active at the same time.
Blade Flurry is a Mantid's most lethal attack, dealing massive damage in a cone in front of the Mantid. The Mantid remains stationary and facing the same direction from the moment he starts to cast the spell, so it can be avoided simply by running through him, but the cast time is very brief and latency can often cause you to take a tick of damage even if you are clearly out of the area of effect. Stunning the Mantid during the channel will end the spell, but this isn't recommended as the spell is totally harmless and effectively a self-stun if you're not standing in it, and if you are then you're likely to be dead before you can get the stun off.
I did wait 2 hours and he didnt spawn, how often do he spawn is my question?
Easy solo'd as a range, just keep kiting (did it as an 88 fire mage). Would be very difficult as a melee.
I've noticed that about most of these rares. If you are a caster and rare is melee, usually easy fight. If rare is a caster I'm usually toast very quick.
There is some Kafa'kota Berry item you can loot next to him to get a small buff during the fight :)

88 hunter in leveling gear solo'd. pretty easy apart from running into goats all the time.
If you are an elemental shammy, you can thunderstorm enemies that try to gank you all the way to Townlong Steppes. I killed two PvP geared lvl 90s at lvl 88.
Something I found funny, his swords still moves when he is dead xD.
I think its safe to assume that this Mantid wiped out the inhabitants of the Grummle camp that he spawns at. Poor little guys...
Crit me for 1.3M ilvl 560 hunter lvl 90
Solo'd as a lvl 90 ret paladin, ilvl 455. Stay out the whirlwinds, and dont stand in front of his blade flurry and you're sorted.
Having breezed through this guy on my level 90 Death Knight, I got the crap kicked out of me twice on my level 87 rogue. During said crap kickings, I figured out how to kill him as a lower level melee.
The obvious thing to dodge is his Blade Flurry, every now and then he'll cast this, and it does insane damage to anything standing in front of him, so when you see him channeling this immediately jump behind him. If this had been the only mechanic, he'd of been a cake walk.
However, he also casts Tornados, which also deal massive damage, and circle the location where they've been cast (He always casts them on you)
So basically start the fight:
1. DPS him until he starts to channel Blade Flurry
2. Jump Behind him and continue to DPS
3. When he begins channeling tornado, SIT STILL, wait till the tornado is up
4. Immediately when the tornado is up, run out of its AoE path (
they stick to about a 10 yard radius and last a long time
5. Rinse and Repeat this, moving down the mountain as you go
Do not underestimate the power of the berries.
's buff is
All damage dealt increased by 10%.
Attack and spell casting speed increased by 30%.
Move speed increased by 30%.
Only active on Kota Peak in Kun-Lai Summit.
15 seconds remaining
and there's no cooldown on the berries. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was tuned with the buff expected to be up 100% of the time.
is one of the Pandarian Rare Elites located in Kun-Lai Summit, and must be killed in order to get the
achievement. It can be found at the location of the Lost Adventurers Belongings, at Kota Peak. Coordinates (36.7, 79.8).
Like all Mantid Rare Elites,
utilizes 3 three abilities, with which he can very easily kill you if you don't watch your step and timing correctly.
is the ability that Mantid always use first. It is very deadly and is guaranteed to kill any player caught withing the full spell. When you see it starts charging, run away and wait for it to finish.
Next Mantid usually casts,
, followed closely by
is cast, it will summon a growing tornado that circles the area where it was cast. During this time you have to pull
away from the initial point of casting as to not get caught in the circling , because it causes
, which can also easily kill you.
Mantid's will repeat this patern till defeated. As long as you avoid the full effect of
you should defeat them with ease.
Like all the Rare Elites of Kun-Lai Summit,
mostly drops one of the various Blue/Rare Bracers, either on its own or sometimes with an added
. Rarely he will drop his unique vanity item
. All three can drop at the same time, though very rarely does so.
Don't forget to check the Grummle wreckage for
I had 2 attempts at trying to solo this, Failed both times. (This was as a 88 ele shammy) So i decided to wait for another player to show up, and a 90 priest turns up a minute later. I let him try to solo him but he fails too. We then team up with me healing him and we manage to get it down.
my few tips for this fight.
1. Avoid Blade furry and tornado at all costs 3, hits will normally kill anyone under 90.
2. If possible clear out all the goats, they dont hit you hard, But they make kiting him when he does tornado alot harder.
3. Try and do this with someone else if possible, its not impossible by yourself, but it is hard.
4. Use all pets/minions CDS and that at the start if soloing. try and get it down as quick as possible while he targets your pets. This is maximize the chance you have of killing him before you need to kite him and move out of blade furry.
This is the best advice i can give too you trying to do this.
Good luck, and have fun :)
You can also get some
near where the rare spawns that will increase all your damage and movement abilities. This will help you kill him alot quicker.
All damage dealt increased by 10%
Attack and spell casting speed increased by 30%
Move speed increased by 30%
Also clear the area of any
else you may get effected by their
Was able to solo him on my L87 Frost mage using my Elemental, healing it with Frostbolts and keeping the mob on top sheeped during the fight. Took some time but no real problems.
Killed this guy as a lvl 89 lock using my voidlord. Was very easy, just had to keep an eye on voidie's helth. Didn't take very long to get him down.
Pretty easy for ranged characters. Dropped this one solo as a BM hunter with a tenacity pet. Cleared the goats, sent in the turtle, kept plinking away with Bow. Took zero damage and pet barely blinked health wise.
I actually, while having a very lucky day got a Blood soaked Invitation when I killed this guy. I am a member of the Horde so this surprised me, but I was very happy to get it. I don't have a screenshot but I did get it.
I just fought this guy today as an 88 ret Pally. Tried the normal tank + spank, failed miserably.
Decided instead to kite him back the way I came using exorcism and judgements. Fighting him with melee from different angles while he was using Blade Furry. Threw in the occasional Hand of Justice. When he did hit it was not very hard. It made the Tornado a non-issue. I didn't even need to heal.
No comment on this since 2013, what is the respawn-timer on this mob?
