Came across this fella above farm terraces north of Heartland. He was surrounded by a bunch of elite Mogu Infiltrators (553k health each). They are fairly easy to take out, just time consuming with little to gain from killing them - less than 1 g dropped from one I killed. Took out a few elites to get to him, kept the health of my voidy up while burning him down. Of course he didn't drop cloth: BOOO! lol

All Mogu Sorcerers use the same set of mechanics.
Dark Bolt is a simple ranged attack, ala wanding. Nothing to be done about this.
Shadow Bolt is exactly what it sounds like. It can be interrupted and although it's not a particularly strong attack, there's nothing else to be interrupted anyway.
Voidcloud creates a persistent purple AoE zone centered on your location when the spell finishes. This zone will deal heavy damage if you do not move out of it quickly, so try to be moving already when the cast is ending and place it in an area you can stay out of. Voidclouds last long enough that you may have 2 or 3 up at the same time. The spell can be delayed by stunning the Mogu, but he will resume casting it once the stun wears off.
His Spawn-time appears to be roughly 1h and 10 minutes. I've camped him twice today, luckily i got my item, but I killed him at 22:23 and then he spawned at 23:35 Server time.
I can confirm that you don't need to kill any Infiltrators beforehand. You just sit there camping and kill him, hopefully you get your item, which is very handy, especially if you are not an alchemist! Good luck!
I hope that could be helpful.
Took him down today at 1301hrs. Dropped
which I am particularly anticipating using!

Sulik'shor's spawn time seems to vary between 40 minutes and an 1 hour 40 minutes. I farmed him for two days, and these were the spawn times I recorded, without leaving his spawn:
2:12 PM (40 minutes)
3:03 PM (51 min)
3:59 PM (56 min)
4:59 PM (60 min)
6:09 PM (70 min)
7:00 PM (51 min)
8:03 PM (63 min)
11:42 AM (103 min)
1:02 PM (80 min)
2:14 PM (72 min)
3:16 PM (62 min)
4:16 PM (60 min)
5:29 PM (73 min)
I never killed any infiltrators, though someone else did once, and it did not appear to affect the spawn time.

All rares in a zone spawn at the same time.
All rares have a 1 hour respawn time (+/- 30? minutes)
The respawn time (1 hour) for ALL of the rares does not start until every rare in the zone is killed.
Between 1 and 2 rares in a zone can will occasionally skip a spawn cycle and will not spawn with the rest of the rares in the zone.
(There are possible exceptions to this (such as if a specific rare has been up for a long time and all others have been dead for a bit) but I haven't had the time or environment to test it yet. Public feedback highly encouraged on this point)
Full guide to MoP Rares
If you have six rares in a zone (Rare A, Rare B, Rare C, Rare D, Rare E, and Rare F) none of them will respawn until they are all killed and they will respawn 1 hour after the last one is killed.
This is why it APPEARS that they individually have a 1-2 hour respawn time but some people report that it can take up to three or even four hours.
Rare A killed at 10:00am
Rare B killed at 10:01am
Rare C killed at 10:05am
Rare D killed at 10:06am
Rare E killed at 10:20am
Rare F killed at 10:45am
They will all respawn at approximately
. Now there easily could be a +/- 30 minute factor in the code. Blizzard usually adds some form of RNG to this type of spawning so it wouldn't surpise me if there was such a mechanic in this as well. Best advice that I can give anyone camping Sulik is to go around the zone and make sure all the other rares are killed quickly once he spawns so that his spawn will reset asap.
If you have information relating to spawn times with regard to killing and not killing other rares in the zone please respond so that we can refine this post.
Farmed him today at level 88. I used the tips given here, which helped ease some of the down time.
When he died I set my timer and went about farming, checking other rares - and killing them when they were up - and finishing quests in the area. At the 35 minute mark I headed back to park it until he spawned.
Shortest time was 40 minutes.
Average time was 70 minutes.
Longest time was 2 hours, 20 minutes.
I believe the elite Mobu Infiltrators in the area share a respawn timer; if you kill one of the adds it resets the spawn to zero and starts over. To kill the time and farm Spirit of Harmony - they have a higher drop rate for them - I killed the remainder save one near the pond. As players came by to see me camping this spot, one of them killed the last elite remaining. The mobs and the rare spawned 80 minutes afterwards. I spent a combined total of 140 minutes waiting for respawn.
As stated, the fight is herpaderp for those who know mechanics and interrupts.
Took 7 tries to get the Crystal of Insanity. May your efforts be rewarded and blessed. :)
Hasn't spawn for over 3 hours now on my server...
Decided to wait for him to spawn after seeing his corpse for the first time.
Read somewhere that all the rares in the same map has to be dead for the spawn timer to start.
Flew around, ALL rares were found dead, except one was missing in action.
Spawned after about 1 hour 5 minutes.
If for some reason your npcscan doesn't pick up this rare when flying over, it helps to actually land on the spawn spot.

When Sulik'shor starts to cast Voidcloud, just simply
backwards towards the walls, not into the other elites patrolling around the area.
I do not know if

A note to (future) farmers: kill stealers can screw you over by taunting him so far away he'll Evade and reset. Luckily with his low hp, tanks can countertaunt and dps should be able to nuke him down so quickly (with some stuns and roots to keep him in place) that this is no issue. Healers however might not be as lucky. Consider gettin an offensive spec if you want to farm or regularly check this rare.
Had one attempted reset on a kill of mine tonight, as decent geared combo rogue I have no troubles stunning and then ganking him into oblivion.
EDIT 5.4: whilst I did eventually get the 'original' Crystal of Insanity from Sulik'shor, I'd advice everyone to go to the Timeless Isle instead and farm
in the cave.
Recorded a video of killing him. I was on my level 90 disc priest, my boyfriend was on his 90 ret paladin. He's a pushover especially for 90s. Just make sure to stand out of voidzone if it comes up.
He can be stunned when casting Voidzone. He is often heavily camped because of the item he drops:
- even on my server which is pretty low population, you may often see a small group of people waiting for his spawn. So, if you want the tag on him, be prepared to be quick if others are around. The spawn timers seem to average around 1 hour, sometimes more, sometimes less.
Link to the video for those that care to see:
it's pretty laggy cause my computer sucks. So, sorry about that :( But he even drops the crystal of insanity in the video :)
After killing him I flew around to the other rare spots and 8/10 rares in the zone were either spawned or recently killed corpses. (Except Bonobos and Galleon.) Most of the rares in this zone appear to spawn around the same time.
Low drop rate + 2 - 3 hour respawn = fun.

Just a warning to anyone who thinks they're gonna camp for this guys item, he's right beside a popular daily questing zone (The Tillers) and he drops a pretty solid stat boost item that many, many people want. Even not-hardcore campers swing by during their dailies "just in case" and as such he's rarely, if ever, "up".
Been trying to get the crystal for a few weeks no with no luck.
AVERAGE SPAWNING TIME
(see datas here) ATTENTION : Spawn rate probably lowered !
Standart deviation expresses what's really important with that kind of mobs with an irregular spawn. I couldn't manage to calculate the exact formula (I haven't a full period, but I think I'm getting close), but I can get the average and the average of the deviance with the average (do you get me?). So you know you must show up
minutes after the previous kill, and wait to maximum
of waiting, but during the right gap).
n°kill • Hour - Suggestion of Beverage (+time since the previous kill)
pm - Coke or regular water, maybe beer. Laugh hard, there were three people of the same guild camping it and you just arrived and killed him right at their face.
pm - Just after dinner, white wine. Drink it fast, because it's an ally of yours that killed him. (+
pm -just serve yourself a few another glasses, start season 7 of How I Met Your Mother. (+
Kill the Bandicoon family every five minutes - it doesn't change anything, but at least you're doing something.
am - put a few grenadine in a glass and beer instead of water. (+
I think I have missed one kill because the respawn came much much later.
For those who were wondering, the mob doesn't respawn by the daily quests reset (3:00 am on my realm) or, at least, not directly. Respawn at 3:01 though, thus it's maybe a good idea to wait for that.
am - Black coffee. Your head's spinning too much and you're working tomorrow. (+
am - Just go to sleep. It ain't your day. I was brushing my teeth when npcscan shouted (and woke my girlfriend up. oops. ) (+
) - We watched a few episodes of How I met, but then I really went to bed, this time. you should do the same.
Came back at
with coffee. Note that when you don't know when he's last been killed, you'll have to wait until he spawns back. Luckily I studied home and then I could camp (that was reasonably the only thing I could do on the game this day)
am - Loads of cofee. (44 minutes of waiting, but I don't know when it's been killed)
pm - A beer with the dinner.(+
pm - Coffee again. damn, i drink a lot of it. (+
pm - thee. That's an improvement, i promise. (+
) (At this point, I only believe in the existence of this object because I looted it already.)
- nothing, I've been wondering what to drink for like two hours now. I'm making some coffee. (+
) Damn ! It won't loot it? Found weed faster.
) Nobody is more patient than me.
) (npc scan scared me, i didn't expect that this early :D )
) (seriously... how is it even possible?) I'll stop farming it if I don't loot it after 30 kills, because I'll have a complete 24-hours period, and i'm being ridiculous.
) Ok, I stop there.
I've killed him 38 other times and he still didn't drop the item. I've opened a request to ask if one can have it on several characters, and the gentle Master Player answered me « Yes, you can ». Thanks you Obama, still I haven't. :D
My loot rate (if i loot it now):
With 9% like mentionned here, I would have looted it:
Not already looted, i'll edit.
Spawn Rate Analysis
After my twelve's kill, I started to think I have enough to calculate its spawn rate. I entered the datas on Excell and obtained something extremely interesting. (FYI)
It's a sinusoïdal equation. With my big hole during which I slept I can't obtain a precise equation, but we can assume there is an oscillation between 1hour 20min-30min and 2 hours. (See above, I update the average spawning time and typical deviation every kills I do).
If I assume the mob didn't spawn during my sleep, I could have found a magnificent pulse equation. Maybe I'll try with your numbers.
Is it a hard mob to farm?
No. If you have a decent gear, if you're the first one on it you're practically sure to be the one who'll loot it. Its quite regular spawn times (≈ 1h - 2h30) make it much easier to farm than other important mobs like
The fight is pretty easy. I'll suggest to kick the
. You can't kick the void (
). One annoying thing for low-dps classes are the voids take a time to disappear, and you can't get the mob out of it as it mostly use range techniques. What I advice, if you have a fight-regen (like shamans, droods, priest and so on) is to go in the previous void during the end of the cast, so the voids pile on. It makes it easier to deal with, and the damages are affordable if you can heal yourself. For my tank warrior, it wasn't an issue at all and that trick made my life simpler.
Does the farm requires attention?
Yes. It's a highly-demanded rare mob, if you don't jump on it in the second, you'll be too late, especially on crowded realms.
Maybe you'll have to kill a few ennemies during the fight. Quite easier for a huge tank.
You'll see a few people passing by, just to check if it's here. Try to stay hidden and not to annoy them. They often go away a few minutes later.
NPCscan will be a useful help here
on less crowded realms
. On high population realms, npcscan will avert you, and the time you switch window or whatever would be too late. Just look at your screen, it always spawn on the exact same location.
On my realm (eu-rashgarroth), npcscan was more than efficient by night, but not enough by day. Some people tried to steal it from me by taunting (to get it far from its spawn point, and then reset him and take it - don't do it, it's a stupid attitude). Hopefully, I'm a warrior-tank and I could keep it.
Sometimes, an enemy will succeed to kill you and take it. It's part of the game :)
What does it loot?
It looted every single time one of the blue-quality item listed above. Only interesting for the gold you can sell them for or disenchanting (you would loot better quality items in normal-mode lvl 90 donjons).
It doesn't give golds every times, and when it does, it's a sad few that doesn't worth the waiting. The mob is only interesting for the non-consumable flask it loots. That's it.
I'd like to thank wowhead and everyone here for their comments that helped me a lot to farm it.
PS: sorry if I have done some english mistakes, I'm a french-speaker. I promise I did what I could to be clear, don't hesitate to comment if I made mistakes, I'd be glad to
If you don't want to farm him... you have a very good chance of finding him in the very early mornings when the hardcores go to bed and the little ones haven't woken up yet.
This is repeatedly proven true between 1AM-3AM
Spawned at 6:52 serv time for me dropped crystal of insanity too.
Some @$$ shaman rolled up and threw all of his totems down and kept casting earthquake right on the spawn point after I'd been there for about 30 min. I can only assume that it would have tagged him instantly. Being a Rogue I waited patiently for another hour while he did that over and over.
He gave up eventually and I got my
about 10 min after he left. It was a bit nerve wrecking to hear earthquake and his magma totem going the entire time. Be prepared to stand your ground.
Anyone know the latest spawn times for this dude? something has changed in the last few days, he spawns longer than a 2 hour timer and his corpse now remains for 30 mins :/
interesting fact: killing the surrounding elites (
) will tell you when
has spawned. It appears when Sulik'shor spawns, all the Mogu Infiltrators respawn as well.
These times are not based on spawns, but time of death. (But is fairly close to the spawn timers since it only takes a few seconds to kill him)
9:37am Server (No Flask, Just a blue)
Don't recall when I got there, did some work around before sitting down and seeing him spawn.
10:37am Server (No Flask, Blue and a Green Bag)
12:30pm Server (No Flask, Just a blue)
1 Hour and 53 Minutes
1:38pm Server (No Flask, Just a blue)
1 Hour and 8 Minutes
3:29pm Server, (No Flask, Blue and a Green Bag)
5:28pm Server, (Flask, Blue and a Green Bag)
1 Hour and 59 Minutes
Now, its my Bro's turn. @_@ Lol...
Edit: I have to say, I was lucky enough no one tried to ninja him from me....people did come around, but left after a second, or after a couple minutes.
It was said that this mob was in the cave? The entrance of the cave is blocked.. But the screenshot looks like he is outside... Can someone post on this. Is he outside or what..? Thank You
And if there is a prerequisite in order to kill him. someone also stated you need the "______ the patient"... Or did he mean just having patients in waiting for him..?
If you don't have NPCscan downloaded and you can't be bothered to, use a macro like this.
/script SetRaidTargetIcon("target", 4)
After killing this mob along with
for the crystal + lillypad, I've noticed that when one spawns, the other does too.
I haven't done it enough times to confirm it or anything, but its just an assumption I have. Everytime I have killed this mob, I have gone to Sele'na straight after and he is always up aswell. I have also sometimes killed Sele'na first, and then gone to check this mob and he is either alive or a corpse.
The elites around Sulik'shor does not seem to share (either partially or completely) a spawn timer with Sulik'shor.
The elites seems to have a respawn timer of 4-5 minutes.
This means that clearing the plateau of elites and using the respawning of the elites as an indication of whether Sulik'shor has spawned/been killed since you flew over last no longer is a good strategy.
I don't know for sure if they've made a change in 5.2, but I've certainly seen this mob spawn fairly reliably every 30 minutes recently.
is the item that makes this mob so wanted, as it competes directly with Alchemist Flasks.
himself is easy to kill for rDPS players and the elite
roaming the area around the spawn point are very squishy and drop green items which can sell very well on the AH, blue items to DE or vendor and
which are also very useful.
is one ability to watch out for, especially if you are playing an undergeared melee class, as
is a caster mob and it's not very easy to get him to move out of the crap on the ground.
All in all, camping this mob and farming the Elites in the area is a rewarding activity.
This is one of the harder mobs to get for
for two reasons:
He has a
chance to drop
(a powerful consumable) and so he
WILL BE FARMED.
He is located by
questing areas, so often players will fly over him, have npcscan pop and kill him.
I recommend killing this guy as one of your last rares so you can link the achievement in progress to the Crystal farmers to let you know you only want the kill. If they're nice, they'll invite you to group and you can kill it together. This is the best way to go about it since you aren't competing, so hopefully you run across some nice farmers. You'll have to camp this guy out for up to 2 hours until he spawns, but he only spawns in one location (37.0, 25.6). Best of luck!
if i may add my input
killed time on high pop realm
7 15 am
8 38 am
9 56 am crystal drop
its a little of a small info but it breaks the regular cycle of 10 kill+
Edit: i thought it would be nice to have data different from the regular 10+ kill so that people don't give up and keep farming but apparently it is not appreciated, oh well thanks or the downgrade i guess
just popped him at 6:48 am
going to camp him for a couple more hours to see if the crystal drops
7:21 am (33 mins) no spawn so that theory is out
(low pop server though......medivh-US)
going to wait a little longer *fingers crossed*
7:48 am spawn so maybe hour spawn for low pop
8:45 am spawn so roughly an hour on low pop good to know, still didnt get the gem but at least now i now when to look for him
***(dont know if this means anything but after killing him each time my DBM says "a new time based raid event was created)*** ive noticed this happens on isle of thunder as well as other zones with special spawns
From my Observation on Silvermoon-EU his spawn timer appears to be less than 1h, it's an extremely populated server.
I believe all of Pandaria rare spawns (except Isle of Thunder) have connecteion like Northrend rares. In Northrend only 3 rares can be up (including TLPD and Sholazar kitty).
My theory is the spawn time depends on other people that meeting them across continent.
Anyways during leveling me and my friend met all of those in every zone while questing right after launch so at this time they were spawned at all locations.
Quel'Thalas, on a nice and sunny Sunday (IRL), what better to do than camp Sulik'shor :-)
Initial times are not exact, but pretty good estimates (< 2min off), from the third one on, I decided to take a notepad and keep the exact times. The recorded times are from when "Sulik'shor says: I will flay the flesh from your bones!" appeared in my log.
Based on the other spawn times, I think I missed a spawn around 10:10 and 11:40, because I thought initially, based on the comments here, his respawn time would be 1 hour+.
My conclusion (at least the way I did it): once you know when he spawns: go do something usefull for 27 minutes (just in case by some miracle he respawns in less than 30 minutes (just to give yourself some peace of mind, really)). I gathered
to prospect for jewelcrafting. After that, read a book on one screen (or watch a video) and keep an eye out on your other screen for when he spawns (without dualscreen, do whatever you like, but make sure you see wow all the time and the focus is in your wow window, so you can react fast). I was on my rogue so it's good to stealth. That way some competitors don't see you and you get less competition (if people see you camping, they tend to stay, since they assume he'll spawn soon and will fight you for the tag) and have the element of surprise if you need to fight for the tag (people tend to be more relaxed and less fast if they think they're the only one). Other than that I set
on my 1 key and talented
. As soon as he spawned, I targeted him and hit one. Out of the eight times, this actually won me the tag three times (the other 5 times there was no competition).
At the last one he dropped
, so I stopped :-)
Good luck to you all :)
Note: Killing the elites that wander the area seems to influence this guys spawn point, at first I thought it was just coincidence but he has spawned for me right after clearing that ledge far too many times for that to be the case.
Keep this in mind if you arrive there and he has not spawned yet.
As of 5.4, it seems that he spawns on 45m-1h timer roughly. On Saturday afternoon/evening, on a low pop EU server, Sulik'shor spawned and killed at:
Got this today Happy Thanksgiving
on Nesingwary / Vek'nilash. Camped him for 3 hours, a few people stopped an asked any luck, and mentioned they downed him over 30x's and still don't have it and I got it on my fourth kill, I feel lucky. He spawned at 10:10 am 10:43 am 11:22am 12:21 and I got it at 1:09 all times server time. good luck, I think its a must for hard core raiding. Posting the spawn times for any1 that cares.
For many days this terrible foe haunted me. Time and time again we would do battle and though I vanquished him many times, the last laugh was always his as he secreted away his crystal.
Finally, after several weeks and many many conflicts, victory was at last mine! The crystal of insanity belonged to me! Joyous and triumphant I was as the strength of it flowed through my veins.
But it was not to last.
One day, not long after my conquest I was journeying through that most sacred of valleys on a different character, my priest. All was well in the world, until I received an alert. NPCscan. Sulik'shor. My old foe. A sudden dismay began to creep into my heart, its wily tendrils clawing blindly at my soul.
It cannot be... I thought. My resolve shattered.
I took my trusty sky golem down and landed near the cavern. The old mogu's body was cold, his pockets empty. A sly grin frozen across his stony countenance.
A slow realization came over me. Victory was never mine, the triumph fleeting and empty.
I know now why the crystal drives its wielder insane.
That dark day, the farm began anew.
I know not where my journey leads, but I know that the better part of my soul shall remain behind... forever.
If you're farming the
, stop camping this guy and head to the Timeless Isle. Go into the cave where
Spirit of Jadefire
spawns and start opening Eerie Crystals. I did this on 4 alts and it took between 2 and 20 minutes to get the item on each toon.
If you are farming this NPC to get the
Crystal of Insanity
-- Go to the
Cavern of Lost Spirits
which is one of the caves on the
(the one with the blue crystals on/in it). The blue crystals or,
have a high chance to drop the
Crystal of Insanity
and they spawn quickly.
Just wanted to report my time on Silvermoon (EU).
He spawns around 45-49 minutes overall, lowest I have seen is 41 min and highest is 51 min.
These are my last kill timers on my Realm:
04:50:04 (Shortest one yet! 40 minutes) (Got my item)
If your gonna camp for
, make sure to stay ready around that time.
Easiest way to kill it is just to spam Target-button and Instant-ability to get it when it spawns.
Grinding it for my third Character now, so hopefully you'll get it soon enough. :-)
i would have to agree that
's spawns are on average 40 min's apart.
is one of the harder mobs to defeat in order to gain the acheivement
. Between each spawn, I decided to kill all the

I'd say spawn times are defunct with patch 7, I've been here like an hour and 20 minutes and he's not spawning. They probly fukt with the spawn times like SO VERY MANY other things they screwed us out of.
The Cavern of Lost Spirits seems to be still working pretty well as of today, but it will probably take more than just a few crystals. Did a full clear with one alt and had no luck with the crystal but a bunch of other level 90 stuff dropped. Then came back with a second alt (just for variety) and got it on about the 15th Eerie Crystal. Switched back to the first alt and went back in. This time it dropped on the 12th crystal, so not tough at all. The mobs and chests drop level 90 BoA armor if you have any lower-level alts.
I've been using both crystals and they appear to last for two hours.
Why are people mentioning Timeless Isle stuff when this NPC is located in Valley of the Four Winds?
First try at the Insanity Crystal at 10:07 AM EST (Aggramar-US) and got it. Took about 20 minutes of camping.
