My boyfriend and I were leveling our mains when we couldn't resist going to Vale. He found this guy and I was convinced that we'd die if we attacked him. Just no.
We're level 87, him being a fury warrior and myself a holy paladin in quest rewards & dungeon gear.
When Yorik used
, my boyfriend lost about half of his (195k) health. Otherwise, this NPC really doesn't hit hard at all.
I just stunned/slowed him during this buff since it's only five seconds long and that's basically all you need to do if you want to kill him, as his other attack is very visible and easy to avoid... even on low settings (yay!)
Also a little curious as to why he drops a BoP cape that a level 85 can use?
And for reference, the bag he dropped contained a decent amount of two types of herbs and
Motes of Harmony. I'm sure that's RNG, but yay, free Harmony!
Successfully (if slowly) soloed as an 86 resto shaman with average ilevel of 400 (well, after several deaths, anyway).
He is vulnerable to roots and snares, but not to transformation (Hex in this case).
Keep your distance during Bellowing Rage (you can do this with normal running speed, he self-slows by 20% during the buff), but stay fairly close or he'll use Rushing Charge and stun you. Try to stay just a few yards outside of his melee range. Yaungol Stomp has a cast time, during which he'll stand still, and is super easy to avoid.
Killing him this way took me about 10 minutes of slowly whittling his health down and constantly self-healing (after 4 or 5 deaths due to either not staying far enough away during Rage, or getting far enough for him to Charge).
Too bad he dropped the strength cloak after all that. :P
What's with the downvotes? Did I not give enough details about the fight mechanics?
Obviously a tribute to Mr. Smite from the original Deadmines. he's a cow, has a (two actually) "Mighty Hammer", a chest next to him, and a boat that looks strangely familiar...
It's kind of odd. He counts as the Yaungol Champion for the Vale, but he's actually a Tauren. Oh well. I guess I'll let it slide.... this time.
Supposedly he drops the item that turns you into Smite for a short while. Killed him 8 times since Mists went live and I've not seen it (One of the first to 90, so I've pretty much had him to myself).
Anyone know what his actual droprate is for the Smite tribute item?
Soloed on an 89 Warrior using Second Wind and Piercing Howl. Piercing howled is rage and avoided the stomp, second wind will heal through his damage, but I disarmed him everytime it was up just in case. Saved recklessness for execute. He dropped
Cloak of the Forgotten Emperor
Mr. Smite's Brass Compass
First kill got him on the 3rd try kiting as ele shaman. Got the healer cloak and the Smite Compass. Not sure how to link stuff. But jsut letting you guys know he does drop it. Kiting is the key because he enrages and it isnt dispellable and he hits hard. Just move out when he casts stomp and knock him back and slow as much you can
edit: You only downvote because my information is true and I got the drop, and you can't solo something.
from a horde perspective its kinda lame that he spawns near the alliance hub.
Part of the Achievement
For a full guide on all the rare elites of Pandaria go to
in the guide section.
Soloed him as lvl 85 blood dk. It was a long fight. (10-15 min)
Has exactly an hour spawn time from my testing. Camped him while fishing for 3 hours.
Should help those whom want to farm the vanity item.
Solo'ed him as an 88 Destro Warlock 413 iLVL. I had my Void Lord tank him the entire fight, using
Flames Of Xoroth
when he would die. If that was on cool down, I'd hard cast another Void Lord summon when the pet was at roughly 20%. The key was to keep Yorik off of me at all costs. I took very little damage since the Void Lord had no problm holding aggro.
I'm pretty sure Yorik is just Mr. Smite in disguise. Guess he improvised and went to Pandaria after the Brotherhood dried up.
It appears Mr. Smite survived the Deadmines and snuck away to Pandaria. Great way to improvise if you ask me.
Soloed as 90 Feral druid.
Alas, poor Yorik.
Killed him 4 or 5 times now, pretty easily soloed as a frost dk with chillblains and remorseless winter.
From that experience, he seems to spawn anywhere between 45 min and 2 hours after being killed. Maxed fishing in only a few hours with the convenient water source. GL all.
I spawn camped him for about an hour and a half until I found him. I tried soloing him as a fury warrior, but didn't work out too well. After several deaths, I decided to ask my friend, an arms warrior, to kill him. We then killed him with some difficulty. If you are a hunter or warlock, you can probably solo, otherwise, get a friend or 2. Overall, very difficult fight, especially if you are a meele
He looks so peaceful and like he wants to be left alone. Poor Yorik :(
Says "You! What are you doing here?" when engaged.
I believe this implies that he has seen you before. (Deadmines) So it could just be Smite in disguise.
How much does he spawn? I want the item that turns you into a tauen. :P
As this fella is at the edge of my primary pet training area, I've taken the liberty of trying to kill him on spawn.
From what I've noticed, he has a spawn between 1 and 2 hours. It seems to be variable between the two; I've seen him spawn virtually after the hour is up, and I've seen him spawn closer to 2 hours. My theories are that the spawn rate of Pandaria rares is either random between 1 and 2 hours (like a die is rolled at regular intervals, and if it's in a certain range it'll spawn), or the spawn rate depends on how many people are in the zone (like other mobs in Pandaria). I feel like the latter is probably the case, as while I haven't been able to scientifically test it it does feel like he spawns faster at peak times.
I'll also point out that the Jinyu close by to him (Sahn Tidehunter), who in my latest attempt I killed a good ~5 minutes after killing Yorik, actually respawned either at the exact same time or before Yorik (as a progression raiding ret pally with my CDs up I obliterate rares, and after killing Yorik and heading over I happened upon a spriest with Sahn on about 40% health). To me, this says that rares are probably spawned in sweeps (rather than having their own spawn timer, Pandaria rares probably all spawn at the same time if they're eligible). Indeed, I've noticed this phenomena when camping the pet-dropping rares with a friend in Dread Wastes (camping one each), where they would spawn at the exact same time, despite me always killing mine first and having enough time to go over and help her kill hers.
So, to recap:
*Variable respawn rate between 1 and 2 hours. Either entirely random, or dependent on zone traffic.
*Spawns at the same time as other rares.
Has a cute boat and a treasure chest next to him, unfortunately you can't loot the chest or have the little boat.
Camped him all day yesterday, his spawn times were as follows:
So it seems anywhere from 45 to 130 minute spawn window, at least from my experience. Still didn't get the drop, so will be camping him more today.
Also of note, if you're farming all these vanity items, Sahn Tidehunter is just across the way a little bit and drops the Aqua Jewel. He seems to have the exact same spawn time as this guy as well.
I killed Yorik multiple times in a row hoping to get the Compass, he was spawning about every hour until it got late, gradually getting longer between the spawns. I assume he also spawns faster/slower depending on the number of the people in the area because he re-spawned slightly faster around the time dailies reset, but either side of that he gradually spawned slower as it was getting later. After the reset, until l about 6am (I went to bed), he starting taking around 2 hours to spawn.
more than 2 hours from now.
I soloed him as a 90 shadow priest.
His Yaungol Stomp ability causes AoE damage which you can just step out of (you see the ground starting to cloud up preemptively).
Otherwise I was able to avoid melee damage by using Void Tendrils to root him in place and then range dps him, or use mindbender + fade to make him damage the mindbender instead of me. Not the worst rare I've fought by far.
Why is this being downrated? Just tried to give some info on how I defeated him... :/
Im pretty sure that is Mr smite. Under the hood hes a tauren. Theres a chest next To Him and A Boat. Its obvious that he lived though the fight. says "What are you doing here!" as if he recognized you, and gives you the Smite trinket. If cookie can Live though it So can Are fearless sailor.
Does currently look like a spawn time of 1 hour and +/- up to 20 minutes, after 8 straight kills.
Yes the treasure chest is of the Assassin's Creed variety. Prominent and stimulating to your deep-seated gamer looting instincts, but utterly impregnable.
Challenging solo as ilvl 478 arcane mage, but was possible by equipping Terracotta Fragment which handled tanking for the first 2 Million HP. From there it is imperative that you have Temporal Shield up at all times along with Incanters Ward if you have it. Keep Slow on at all times, and blink when his seemingly unavoidable charge hits you.
I've killed him 39 times, no lie, I've farming him for his compass...only the capes drop and It pissed me off. I hope I get to compass soon D:
So i have been researching but can't seem to find it anywhere, but is there a transmog that looks like Yorik's hood?
Finally got him on my 12th kill, killed him 7 times in each consecutive spawns today, the funny thing when I got it I had like 6 allies around me trying to invite me so they can ninja it if it dropped xD, now I'm using it and sitting in Yorik's place when he is not spawned & 1 dump horde attacked me thinking I was him haha
Killed him on a lvl 88 holy pally was hard but u can get him down with a lil time. Compass and a sweet healing cloak droped
killed him a couple days ago on my lvl 90 combat rogue. it was pretty hard, but as long as you stay away from the Yaungol Stomp he does, you are usually ok. I just popped recuperate and I'm an herbalist/alchemist, so I popped that heal+haste as well. took a few mins.
plus: I killed him while some alliance sat and watched, expecting me to die.
minus: he didn't drop the trinket. :(
This guy hits rather hard on my rogue, not just his special abilities but regular melee - he'll steadily wear you down ! And be careful not to run too far away when he's enraged, otherwise he will charge and roflstomp you. It's best to go full soloing spec on this guy : Leeching Poison (using Shiv on cooldown), Combat Readiness, Prep, Dirty Tricks for a Blind/bandage combo and Shuriken Toss for the free combo points when you're away from him. Try to keep Recup rolling as well.
Thankfully he has a chance to drop the greatest item in the game
Edit : I wrote this when I was around ilvl 450. Obviously the fight becomes trivial as you get epic gear, but to fresh non-tank 90s/alts, this guy might not be as easy as he looks.
Solo'd as a hunter in 5.1. I kept up Mend Pet and moved out of melee range for his AOE attack. Be careful. If you go too far he will charge you for a good hunk of damage.
I was easily able to solo kill him as a level 90 windwalker monk. (Also note that I was in almost full pvp gear, due to me forgetting to swap sets.)
Simply kite him when he uses bellowing rage, but try not to get too far away from him, as I assume he will then charge you. I applied my slow (Disable) to him when I caught him casting it, to help me out with the kiting, but since it already applies a slow when he uses it, I assume this is not required.
When he casts stomp, get out. That one's simple.
stunnable, so you can stun him to make the fight easier, should you be having problems. Hope this helps!
Sit here for about an hour waiting for him to spawn, i walk off for 10seconds and he spawns. luckily i was teh only one there
"You there! Check out that noise!"
Deadmines was merely a setback.
3 Hours since last kill, still no spawn. Hope they change spawntimers!
I could never kill this guy as a rogue. He hits me too hard then he slows me and pounds me. I spec'd into ST and seriously ran him around the tree and was never touched. Took two minutes but he's easy lol. Also going around the tree he doesn't charge you but you will always have full health so it's no biggie if he does.
i have been camping this guy for 2 h now and no spwan i whant tha qompas now !
i hade no problem to get this guy down as a arcan mage 482 ilvl but no compas :(
Just killed him on my 90 resto druid. LONG FIGHT! But he did drop 2 blues 1 of the cloaks and Mr. Smite's Brass Compass.
Downed him few min ago again. One thing that makes him different from other Yaungol (ok I know he is Tauren but not that) is rather large hit box. You can easily stand outside of
and melee him down which simplifies this fight greatly.
Fun Fact: His stomp does physical damage, which means the DK Blood Shield will absorb it.
Fun Fact #2: I've also discovered that it is possible to be within melee range yet safely outside the range of his stomp ability. It takes a little bit of finesse, but it's not too difficult. I expect this isn't intentional and submitted a bug report.
Summary of Mr. Smites' life: Became a pirate at a young age, joined a bunch of nutty humans and harbored a huge ship within Dead Mines, and warded off a flurry of level 20 heroes assailing him by the minute. He flips out after having to do so many long corpsewalks from the designated graveyard zone, the Maelstrom, so he ends up taking a miniature boat of his, learning a shrinking spell from a hydromancer in the Dead Mines, and propels his miniature ship along out the harbor, where he ventures to the newly-unveiled Pandaria. He soon discovers that at this point on, he must now do numerous corpsewalks because he is so low level. However, he takes on the identity of Yorik Sharpeye, veiling his face with a hood, and asks passing adventures if they can help carry him to level 91. He upgrades his weapon to level 91, and with his axe, he gets revenge on people who dare cross his path, toting his recently-adapted Yaungol status. Now, he drops a compass that has been infused with the magical ability of causing people to become disoriented, babbling widly about people intruding, and take on the appearance of former Mr. Smite. Very fun life if you ask me.
How does anyone want their cow cooked? :)
Note that Yorik is (as far as I can tell) the only non-phased rare (that I could find), meaning that he is the only source of the cloaks at 85 if you're dead set on getting them at low levels.
EDIT: Never mind, I was wrong; there are at least 2 other rares that I could find, though at least one of those was in a phased area, meaning that I couldn't enlist aid easily.
Today a rogue confirmed that when left alone, Yorik will quietly say to himself. "We're under... attack... avast.. ye swabs... re...pell the invaders." And will shed a single tear as he plays with his boat.
I've never ran through the old Deadmines , but I've always likes toe old guys.
Camped his spawn spot today for an hour and when he spawned a fuc*ing mage comes and kills him right infront of my nose, so i start to wait for him to spawn again and dont u think a hunter comes this time and steals him infront of me again..
Easily soloable as a 467 iLevel hunter. Just use your traps, and pop your CDs at start, keeping your pet's heals up. He should never touch you, if you do it right. Sadly, he only dropped a rather boring cape on my first kill, but I'm going to stalk him for that trinket!
Unline most of the Yanguol fights, mainly because of his two handed melee weapon. The rest is the same, but his melee strikes hit suprisingly hard (for a clothie at least).
Kiting him works fine, just a warning to try and avoid his swings where possible. You can't soak this sailor.
As with ALL rare champion's, Yorik has a default spawn timer of 30 minutes on a "High" population world. When the "High" world reaches "Full", this mob hits a 20 minute spawn timer. At the edge of the "Medium" density, his spawn timer slows down to 45minutes - 90 minutes, and on "Low" Population, his spawn timer is from 90 minutes to 120 minutes +\- a few minutes.
Been camping him for a few hours now on
Sylvanas - Alliance, High population
Will be keep updating till I give up
Spawn timer have been this far around:
Date: 27/4 2013
First: 28 min
Third: 32 min
4th: 49 min
5th: 32 min
6th: 40 min
7th: 40 min
8th: 39 min
Will keep farming some other day, more updates then!
For the fight
For me as rogue its rly easy to kill. He got a big melee radie so you can stand outside of the aoe he does and just nuke him down fast and easy.
Mutilate rogue 512 ilvl
Just managed to solo him on my fury warrior with 448 item level. Here are some tips (at least for fury warriors):
1. Probably not necessary, but I used a Terracotta Fragment to tank him for the first few seconds. Looking back, I probably could've done fine without using that. Still, it's nice to have a few seconds where a Terracotta Warrior is tanking him for you. I unloaded every damage CD I had on him before the Terracotta Warrior went down.
2. Run away from him when he uses Bellowing Rage, but make sure you don't run TOO far away, or he will charge you, and that charge hurts a lot.The charge has a minimum range, so he won't use it as long as you're close enough. Also, he is immune to Intimidating Shout, so don't waste your time trying that. It's pretty easy to keep ahead of him because he moves slower while he's enraged.
3. Run away when he uses his Yaungol Stomp ability. Yaungol Stomp has a 2-sec cast time, and I took advantage of that to heroic leap away and get a few bandage ticks off when needed (you will never get a full bandage cast off, but a couple of ticks can help). You can actually interrupt his Stomp by Charge stunning him, but it's not a good idea because he will just immediately start casting it again if you interrupt it in any way. It will hurt a lot if he hits you with it. Just avoid it, and you will be fine.
Also, I can't confirm if this always happens, but every single time he used Bellowing Rage, he immediately used Yaungol Stomp after his Bellowing Rage wore off. This gave me some time to start running since I knew it was going to be coming.
4. Pretty obvious, but make sure you use defensive CDs as much as you can (Die By the Sword, etc). Also use CDs that reduce his damage (Demoralizing Banner, Thunder Clap, Disarm, etc). Disarming him actually helps quite a lot. I also used Stoneform for more damage mitigation since I'm a dwarf. He hits pretty hard if you're not super geared, so everything helps.
Took me a couple of minutes, but I managed it without any major headaches on my second attempt. I died on my first attempt because I ran too far away from him and got owned by his charge. He dropped the Mr. Smite compass for me. :D
Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy: he hath borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rises at it. Here hung those lips that I have kissed I know not how oft. Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your songs? your flashes of merriment, that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own grinning? quite chop-fallen? Now get you to my lady's chamber, and tell her, let her paint an inch thick, to this favour she must come; make her laugh at that.
If you stand in the water right by the shore, in front of him, you take little to no damage from his Yaungoi Stomp and this was by far the easiest way for me to solo him. It didn't take long; I did have to use one heal.
Just like with
Go-Kan in Karasong Wilds if you are ranged you can take him down with no damage you just need to know where to stand. (check my picture in the screenshots)
Go up to the waterfall and step out on a beam so you have him in range. If you are a hunter you may want to send your pet down there, I did not test to see if it would send him or not. I will check next I see him out and update. Just stand on that beam and dps away.
It's kind of funny to watch him go into the bellowing rage because he just stands there on the edge of the water and looks like he's having a temper tantrum!
Got the vanity item 1st kill :) yea! - Good luck!
I was running about as an 88 questing and saw this fellow. Tried him twice in feral spec and couldn't get him down much past 1/2 hp before I'd run out of my own health & mana.
Tried again as resto. Just alternated 3 wraths + Entangling Roots (fourth Wrath breaks it, DON'T let him hit you...) & kept moonfire up... Had no issues with him. He did take FOREVER to kill this way, though, and for me, only dropped a tanking cloak.
Yorkshire pie, Anyone?
He looks so sad like he has no friends v.v
As a ranged attacker I was on top of the wall on the right side of the waterfall (if facing Yorik) and started to attack him. Almost immediately after, he tries to cast Rushing Charge, but the move fails and he continuously attempts to use it. If you stay on the wall, you can do this to kill him without even having to move, regardless of gear or level. I haven't tried this since the recent patch so I cant be certain if it still works. Happy killing :)
Can easily be soloed by a level90 druid tank. (Item level496).
I just soloed this as an 85 prot pally. (Cromax Silver Hand)
Took about 10 minutes, but it was quite easy. When he stomps, just step back out of its range, then re-engage. When he goes all red either stun, or word of glory through it. Dropped the Jade Harbinger's Cloak I was looking for on the first try. Happy Twink.
got the compass after killing him for the fist time!
The downside is, this guy spawns like a stone's throw away from the Shrine of the Seven Stars, and a bigger stone's throw away from Shrine of the Two Moons. That means that any player on your server who knows about this mob and wants something from him, will try to kill him. Making it incredibly hard to ever find him.
I suggest to conduct your search of him when there is not many people online. Like deep into the night or very early in the morning.
Elsewhere I've read that Yorrik only spawns after all rares in zone have been killed. Not true, at least for me today. Ai-ran was up when I killed him. Someone said he is on a 90 min timer...
If you are a Priest, dont do this in Holy like i did. It will take forever. When he does his little roar is when he will cut you. Just shield up and burn. Took me a couple minutes to Smite (oh the irony), SWP and Holy Fire him to death. Would have been far quicker if i had melted him in Shadow. His little stomp is pitifully easy to avoid.
Currently camping Mr Smite on my server.
I noted that he was killed at around 10.39am.
I then waited for the next spawn and sure enough he spawned at 11.35am.
I went for lunch knowing roughly when he will spawn and almost right on cue, 12.25pm.
Went taxi for a hunter for a while and came back and literally 30 seconds after i arrived at 1.17pm, there he was.
Missed the spawn just after 2pm due to Oondasta raid.
Collected the 2.18pm spawn. Still no compass. Damn you RNG.
For what its worth, my server is currently listed as ''Medium'' on the server list.
So that means the second spawn took 54 minutes and the third spawn, 50 minutes. Fourth occured 52 minutes after the previous. On a Medium server.
Just as Admiral Ripsnarl's true name is James Harrington i'm going to say that Yorik Sharpeye is Mr Smites born name as well. It is quite obvious (He is a Tauren) that this is him in hiding as said earlier.
The Compass, the quote that he is shocked that you are here. And the fact that he has a chest (likely the same chest he improvised from) And use's the weapons he had back in the day. Yep its definitely our land luber'in improvising Tauren.
whats the id of this rare? :)
i miss Mr.Smite :(
The funny thing is, the boat is still there of course, but it's still moving like it's on the water. (patch 5.4 water is gone)
Don't nuke me for the stupid question, but with all the crap done to the vale, (tyvm Garrosh!
t( -_- t )) does this rare still exist? I know Alani does, but he's not even a rare.
funny thing is of 5.4, his toy-boat is still floating like the lake is still there
I just found him dead on the floor next to the innkeeper at the Golden Lantern, inside the Shrine of Seven Stars. Nice kiting job.
I camped my priest up on the roof overlooking where Yorik spawns. When he finally did appear, I immediately started casting ranged attack spells, figuring I could whittle his health down with some DoT spells while he's running up to attack me.
But much to my surprise and amusement, he did not move! He stayed right where he was, swinging his hammers and having what looked like a hissy fit. So my priest killed him without taking a single point of damage himself. Warlocks and hunters can use this strategy as well. Just be sure to dismiss your minion / pet before you attack or they'll draw him out of range.
He finally dropped
on my 5th kill.
I kind of feel sorry for him. All he wants to do is sit there in peace, playing with his toy boat and reminiscing about past adventures. But people keep attacking and killing him. What a life....lol.
12:02 first Kill today - got a cloak
12:48 second Kill today - got a cloak
02:24 third Kill today - got a cloak
other than that i just camp him while doin BGs and every time and then i see him and kill him.
I don't wanna kill him, he looks so sad T.T
this rare is found between the shrine of seven stars and mogu shan palace with a spawn timer around 45 minutes he can 10% chance to drop
which will turn you into Mr.Smite for 10 minutes with a 2 hour cooldown and will make your mount slightly bigger and when you get attack you have a chance to say We're under attack, avast ye swabs repel the invaders! or Ah you landlubbers are tougher then i thought, ill have to improvise. when you use the compass you have a chance to wear
which is his hammer,
which is the sword or 2
which is the axe. if you use
then use the compass you will appear like a more ghostly Mr.Smite and so will your mount, this rare has the abilities
with a 2 second cast time and a 5 second cooldown, it increases his attack damage dealt by 190% but reduces his speed by 20% which will last for 5 seconds, his second ability is
which he will use if you go to far away from him, it has a 0.5 second cast time and will inflict 350% damage and knock you down for 2 seconds, his 3rd and final ability is
with a 6 yard range and will do 65% of your health and stun you for 2 seconds so get out of that asap. he also has a 20% chance to drop 5 difrent cloaks that require level 85 with a item level of 440 and may also drop
which will have any type of mats for proffesions, the final item he can drop is
with a 1% drop that can be dropped from any rare and if you cant get your hands on it you can bid on it off of the black market auction house for 1000g or possibly more, it is used for the brawlers guild where you fight many difrent bosses with difrent stratergies. i hope i have provided you with enough information about this rare and good luck to you all :)
Curious if anyone knows the respawn timer on Yorik Sharpeye?
My ilvl is about 529, he's pretty easy to solo. But then again, the Army of the Dead did help take most of the hits. ;)
Is it only I,that Thinks Yorik is Mr.Smite but in a hood? Or am I wrong?
I went looking for this mob and when i got there somebody was already killing him. So, going from the suggested respawn time, i parked and waited. He actually respawned in exactly 30 minutes from time of death. gl
I have been camping the rare for some hours and I have gathered some info
Kill 1 = ?:?
Kill 2 = Exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes later.
Kill 1 = 15:00
Kill 2 = 15:47
Kill 3 = 16:39
Kill 4 = 17:09
Kill 5 = 17:34 (Logged in and found the corpse)
Kill 6 = 18:13
Kill 7 = 18:49
Kill 8 = 19:29
Kill 9 = 20:20
Kill 10 = 21:08
Kill 11 = 21:44 (Logged in and saw the corpse)
Kill 12 = 22:38
Kill 13 = 23:32
Kill 1 = 15:09
Kill 2 = 15:58
Kill 3 = 16:40
Kill 4 = 17:15
(It might have been killed once here)
Kill 5 = 18:13
The respawn time depends on the amount of players on the server
(when it's killed?).
My first post to wowhead by the way :).
Why can't there be a rare that let's you turn into millhouse manastorm or something... Alliance get all the cool formely Horde-exclusive stuff. (Yes, I know the compass can be used by anyone but obviously it's much cooler for an Alliance player to transform into a tauren than it is for a Horde player)
So I tried to camp him for a while this morning here are my CTRL-C's
Yorik Sharpeye says: You! What are you doing here?
Yorik Sharpeye says: You! What are you doing here?
Yorik Sharpeye says: You! What are you doing here?
Yorik Sharpeye says: You! What are you doing here?
Yorik Sharpeye says: You! What are you doing here?
Yorik Sharpeye says: You! What are you doing here?
I tabbed in and out of the game while I was jobhunting, but it's safe to say that he has 40-45 min respawn timer.
I got a cloak and 3-5
each time, still no
I got the
on 4 of my other characters on the 5.0 patch on the first kill on all of them, I don't know if they have nerfed the droprate or something on it.
As of 6.0.2 Mr. Smite's Brass Compass can be added to the toy box, so if you already have the compass on a character you'll be able to use it on all of your chars
Did they reduce the dropchance or something? This is very frustating. I have 35 kills since patch 6.0.
Just wanted to post this because I camped him for about 2-3 days. At the start of MoP I've killed him a couple of times on my rogue, no compass. After coming back for 6.0, I've also killed him around 5-7 times between raids, no compass. For the past 2 days, I've camped him whenever I had freetime available. Today, I camped him, again with all the free time I had, but actually recorded the times I killed him.
November 9, 2014, Sunday PST
Sever: Sky' Thul ( Skywall + Drak'Thul)
Time (AM )
Got it on the last kill. Spawn times roughly between 32 minutes to an hour. The longest I had to wait was approximately 58 minutes. Cheers.
So a lot of people are saying that Yorik is actually Mr.Smite in disguise. I'd have to say that I disagree with that. Since Yorik drops Mr. Smite's Brass Compass, I think that Mr.Smite was Yorik in disguise. Maybe Yorik found a random compass and used that himself for all those years in deadmines.
Anyone know the new spawn timer on Yorik?
Now that there is hardly anyone in Pandaria, he hardly spawns. Been waiting for at least 2 hours on a "full" realm.
For other holiday vacationers out there that have been camping this guy for the compass, I thought I'd post my kill times / days. In total I had 26 kills before
Mr. Smite's Brass Compass
finally dropped. It felt... brutal. Persistence pays off!
It seemed to me that he would respawn roughly 55-65 minutes from each kill, except for once a day. EVERY day, at some point there was a 90 minute wait instead of the average 1 hour. I couldn't quite get it perfect, but it was enough. I hope this info helps someone else!
Good luck, and happy hunting!

Mr. Smite's Brass Compass
Ive been camping Yorik, for the past 4 days now. Getting about 6-8 kills a day. Still no toy for me :(
Yeeep. This guy is Mr.Smite, Like Admiral Ripsnarl, His REAL name was James Harrington, so Possibly, Mr.Smites REAL name was Yorik Sharpeye, or he made it up trying to hide from his Past.. Quite interesting..
11% toy drop pfffffff *inhales* HAHAHAH
I like that the boat is still bobbing on the ground as if it was still in water.
Wish we could restore the Vale to it's original condition.. makes me sad.
Up to 213 kills on him with no drop in sight. Is his drop chance really 11% because if so I seem to be having the worst luck ever.
It is August 8 2020 and the corrupted lands of Vale of Eternal Blossum for BFA are a thing. I tried to find Yorik Sharpeye with no success. I waited at the spot indicated in comments and from the map on WoWhead for 2hours 17 minutes. The coordinates are: 87 44, the spot is between the bridge and the large tree near the water. He should be spawning under the tree or near the water...somewhere around this general small area, but nope. I made sure to go when the corrupted area was not in his supposed spawn location. Maybe he was removed or his spawn location changed?
So ive been camping (on the side) him for 4 days straight now. from what I see his respawn is between 35mins to 1hr15(ish). And you CAN kill this rare multiple time a day since its a mop rare and "rares" wernt reworked till WOD (I think)
started to believe he doesnt even drop the toy after my bad luck, untill i was #$%^&ing to a friend so he said he would come camp it with me for a while (all party members will get loot on a kill form what ive seen) and he got it on the first kill just to really rub salt in the wound...
(I will try to remember to update this comment if it drops or if I think of any other useful info)
