This will be the last boss encounter in TVP :) Has a nice model the djinnies are my favorite Cata model so far :* :))
Stand inside his temporary grounding field when he makes one. It looks like a triangle.
Assad is Arabic for 'lion', i believe
When he starts casting Unstable Grounding Field, everyone, even the tank, must stand inside it before he finishes.
He will then cast Supremacy of the Storm, dealing massive damage to anyone outside the field.
While he is casting Supremacy of the Storm, he will be in melee range of everyone inside the Grounding Field.
Extremely easy fight.
When he spawns an "Unstable Grounding Field" (it is a triangle on the ground) simply stand in it or you will die when he casts "Supremacy of the Storm".
He will also cast Chain Lightning randomly during the fight for a small bit of damage.
On heroic mode he applies a root called Static Cling. Apparently this is avoidable somehow as there's an achievement for it, regardless, you have to dispel it off of anyone who gets it immediately as he will do the AoE storm shortly thereafter.
After the AoE storm is over, everyone needs to spread out as he will immediately cast chain lightning. If you're sufficiently spread out, he only hits one target and this makes it much easier on the healer.
Not many changes compared to normal mode. Other than he does more damage, and casts a root on everyone in the group, preventing them from running to Static Grounding Field. But the debuff is magic and dispellable. Otherwise, a pretty simple but long fight.
Note that in order to avoid the Static Cling by jumping, you need to have started to descend from the jump when the cast finishes (As the game doesn't seem to recognize you as being off the ground until then).
Melee heavy groups can make the chain lightning an issue on heroic, as it hits really hard when it jumps. The boss has a large hit box though so work with the other melee to make it so you don't chain each other, or worse, the tank.
The root, if you suck at dodging it, can be removed with things like druid shapeshift and whatnot to save your healer from having to cast a dispel if they have mana issues.
Actually a caliph is more like an emperor, as they ruled over an empire not a kingdom. Moreover, the caliphs came after Ancient Egypt and most of the architecture that Uldum is using, as the large black dog headed statues of Anubis would not have been built in the time of the caliphs, as Egypt would have by that point had a good Muslim population.
Blinking out of this works for mages, if you happen to have a group with no dispeller you are going to have some issues, our druid had to respec for this fight to get magic dispel.
It's easy to avoid the static cling. If you're jumping as the spell resolves, you avoid it.
Also the priest spell Levitate makes you unable to be clinged.
Confirmed, just thought i found out a bug, got a nice achievement for just standing around
Not sure if they just buffed this guy or if he was bugged out, but just now when we killed him on heroic, chain lightning was hitting everyone no matter the distance we were apart (wasn't the case yesterday). Still not particularly hard, but it means people need to be better at jumping to avoid the cling so as to not waste the healer's time and mana dispelling.
Confirmed. Either bugged or buffed. Either way after the static field goes away there's no need to scatter. Chain lighting will hit you even if you're at the zone in (ask our guy who had just zoned in from a rez) haha
So with this "change" levitating will only avoid the static charge the first time as the first lightning is going to drop it off of you anyway.
You can sleepwalk through this fight if you have a priest. Simply stack on the boss the entire time in between Supremacy of the Storm phases.
As others have said, you can't avoid the chain lightning, but only the first two people hit take any significant damage that you can easily heal up (the damage goes down with each jump to the next person). If you stack up, the priest can drop one mass dispell on everyone to remove static cling.
Note that after the fight starts, he does one static cling before casting his first grounding field, and then *two* static clings in between each subsequent grounding field. Priests should wait until the second one to cast mass dispell (remember, everybody is stacked in melee range on Asaad so you won't be leaving melee dps out in the cold).
No match against Achmed, the Caliph of Dance!
If you're a warrior tank the talent
is great way to break Static Cling if for whatever reason no one is dispelling it. Just
a random party member (preferably your healer) and the root will be broken.
I just managed to save myself every time as a gnome DK dps. Casting Anti-Shell Magic before he does the root saves you from getting rooted.
A way to get out of the static cling for hunters is to use Master's Call. It will de-root you if your pet is close enough. So either stay a little closer to the boss, or click the follow button when you need to de-root.
Warning: Master's Call is on a 1 min cooldown, so you can't use it on all clings. DBM has a countdown for the cling, so I suggest getting that.
edit: can anyone tell me how to link a spell? i just can't figure it out.
Q: How do you avoid static cling in real life?
The answer to this Achievement is not timing or anything like that. All you do is spam your jump button during and after the cast. In other words "Bounce" to avoid Static Cling.
Managed to solo him from somewhere above 50% after the rest of the group died in the first two AOEs on my prot paladin. Had to use seal of insight and spam WoG at 3 HP, and spam flash of light during grounding field. Also had to rotate CDs for the chain lightnings.
Ended up doing 96% of the total healing and 62% of the total damage, and the fight took 16 minutes.
Here's a video of a hunter (I'll fess up here, my hunter!) soloing this boss on Heroic difficulty, along with the rest of the instance (excluding Altairon and a couple of cloud princes). He's probably the easiest end boss of any cataclysm heroic.
I noticed when he does Supremacy of the Storm, It hits everyone, including those who are in another part of the dungeon.
Was watching a ret paladin go down several times and not learning and probably getting a hefty repair bill.
Will now summon
once patch 4.0.6 hits.
Just killed this boss. Easy fight. His static cling will lock you down, like rooting. To avoid it, be jumping when he casts it. Or jump the entire fight if you want. Run to the pyramid (grounding field) he draws as soon as he starts drawing it. Don't be late or you die.
This boss is apparently bugged at the moment. I had jumped each time Static Cling was cast yet for some reason out of nowhere as I'd try to run from his big move I'd find myself stuck in place and this has happened several times. I never took my eyes off of his cast bar and watched the timing as we knew this occured after his Chain Lightning. I've done the heroic version several times and never had this problem before. We eventually gave up after nearly four hours and without our 70 valor points for the day.
As of 4.0.6 he can now cast Static Cling before a Supremacy of the Storm, make sure your jumping or have freedom, or you won't make it to the safe spot.
Also in 4.0.6, He spawns 'Skyfall stars', which shoot arcane barrages at people. Makes the fight more difficult for healers.
To deal with Skyfall Stars, just put a DPS on add duity. there not hard to kill and thay don't seem to have an agro table.
Ret pallies specced into at least 1/2 Acts of Sacrifice *can* cleanse Static Cling off themselves, allowing them to save Hand of Freedom for another party member.
Fury warriors can use
to dispel the debuff if they get caught.
In normal VP, this fight can be easily solo'd for a prot pally. Don't know why you would, but you could.
I watched one do it last week to prove he can.... It took 20min, but he did it.
A video guide on how to solo this instance as a protection paladin on normal:
or a quick guide to farm the mount:
The only real reason you may have difficulty avoiding static cling is your latency. Make sure you are aware of how much you are lagging and act accordingly. If your stuck in a party with someone who's still using dial-up, good luck getting this achievement.
General strategy for Heroic is to get one caster to shoot those spawning stars (introduced in 4.0.6).
At the very beginning, Asaad casts Static Cling immediately. After that, he casts it some time after Chain Lightning.
With exception of the first time, Asaad casts two Chain Lighting and after them two static clings each before casting the triangle.
For tanks it is usually the best way to do a jump right (pressing Jump button a bit longer) about mid cast (watch the cast bar). Do not jump at the beginning of the cast as you might just land right before the cast is finished.
In Teamspeak, I usually announce Static cling (even if everyone should using Deadly Boss Mods or Little Wigs).
Apart from Static Cling and those annoying stars, the fight is rather simple. Just run into the triangle as soon as it is being cast, avoid the Static Cling and the dedicated caster should get rid of those spawning stars.
He looks like Raziel from the Legacy of Kain games.
Does anyone have any sound files for this boss? One of my favorite boss voices in cata.
For bored DKs: His chain lightning can be stolen with Simulacrum.
Hits fairly hard as well.
I am an enhancement resto shaman and I am having trouble healing on this last boss. I have read that i could use my bind elemental to stop the static cling jst long enough to be able to move. It did work once about two weeks ago. It has not worked since. I am having trouble jumping and healing at the same time. I cn use my spiritwalker's grace to heal and jump but it only lasts 15 seconds and has a two minute cool down. Is there anyone who can give me some advise or tips on healing for this boss?
With a decently geared group (I-lvl 340 +) his damage is not to bad. Start out with an earth shield on the tank, and drop your healing and your protection totems. Group should stay in range. Then just stand still watching for the first Static cling (don't heal). Jump when it comes, and immediately after that disspell it on anyone who is grounded (yourself first, if you miss the jump ;-). When you are inside the triangle pop a helaing rain with you as the center. Set your target to the party member in the direst need. After Asaad drops the grounding field pop a chain heal, and everyone can cavort again. No healing, just watch for the cling (remember two times after the first AOE overkill). Repeat.
You may have to supplement with a Greate Heling Wave if someone stick out his nose too far, don't cut it to jump. Just be ready to dispell the cling on yourself. A macro on a key here is a good idea.
Asaad. A reference to President Asaad of Iran, Iraq, or whatever the country is called.
this fight is not that hard but yet i constantly have groups that fail so im going to simplify this fight immensely.
DISPEL find yours. Druids, shamans, priests, and paladins can all remove static cling with their dispel dont hesitate to use it ! obviously if you have a priest their mass dispel will benifit you greatly and druids can even shapeshift out of it. mages also can blink.
this is all assuming your group isnt smart enough to use the spacebar.
once your all free get to the null zone made by the boss, ranged can continue dps, once he blinks to you melee can join in. as soon as he is done channeling thunderstorm, space out to avoid massive chain lightning damage.
repeat as necessary.
He will cast
to summon a large triangle on the ground
GET INSIDE THE TRIANGLE! He will INSTANT KO you with supremacy of the storm if you dont!
You tread upon this
Patch 6.2.3 Hotfixes - January 29
ability now only targets 2 players (down from 5), and has a preference to for characters in a ranged Specialization.
This is due to the fact that back in Cataclysm, there was plenty of cd-free dispels available. With Timewalking, some groups was finding themselves stuck outside
and dying right after, due to lack of people dispelling them to the root.
Sure, jumping during
is free, and everybody can do it, but you know that you'll never meet people skilled enough to jump and dps / heal / tank at the same time...
This is a noob-proof hotfix to be honest.
mount drops from
on either difficulty.
Uldum /Way 76.7, 84.4
is the second boss followed after
I obtained the mount after 84 attempts farming it on/off for months.
