The ability 'rocket strike' is the first ability in WoW requiring SCIENTIFIC NOTATION to describe the damage.
Currently during phase 4 of the fight, it is very common for the VX-001 (middle) and Flame Leviathan MkII (bottom) sections to cast
simultaneously. Each is a 4 second cast and is handled in the same way as in phases 1 and 2, but the nature of this makes it the most challenging part of this phase. It requires your melee to run away from the boss while dodging mines and run away from wherever the Laser Barrage is pointed. Ranged dps have it notably easier here and may be prefered purely for this part of the fight.
Also in this event, your (Flame Leviathan) tank should generally charge back in after Shock Blast is cast to minimise any movement of the boss, while making sure to aim for a side that the barrage isn't being cast at, as it will lead to him being oneshot and everyone else shortly afterwards.
Some players are claiming this is a bug, but it remains unconfirmed by Blizzard, so bad luck might be the answer.
As of Patch 3.1.1 Mimiron can no longer cast Shock Blast and Laser Barrage at the same time in phase 4.

used in phases 3 and 4 does not attack a random target. This attack will be cast on the highest threat target and thus can be tanked by a ranged dps or healer.
After being killed, an engineer can use his skill to "engineer" Mimiron's Body and get some loots from it. Not sure about lowest skill req. to loot him, but my 450 did well. Remember to make screenshots first!

Widely considered one of the most difficult bosses in Ulduar, and after spending hours wiping to him last night, I can vouch for that. Some guilds refer to him as the "Shade of Aran" of Ulduar, and once you reach him, it'll be easy to see why.
Phase 1 is mostly a tank-and-spank, just have melee run out of the Shock Blast and heal up whoever gets napalm'd. Also have abilities like Shield Wall, Pain Suppression, and Guardian Spirit ready to ensure your tank lives through Plasma Blast (use one of each of these for each blast).
Phase 2 is VERY healing-intensive. This part is essentially a gear-check for your healers. They have to keep up a raid which will be taking massive damage from Bursts and Heat Waves. Also something of a retard-check to avoid the Laser Barrages and Rocket Strikes.
Phase 3 is a similar gear-check for your DPS. Select a ranged DPS (preferably a demo-lock with Soul Link) to tank the ACU. Select another ranged DPS to "kite" the Assault Bots (preferably your highest-damage hunter) while the rest of your DPS kill them as fast as possible. It's also a good idea to have a rogue put Crippling Poison on their offhand and shiv the Assault Bots as quickly as possible, to keep it snared. In case you're wondering why they're kited, lets just say they hit our main tank for 60,000. After dying, the assault bots drop a magnetic core which can be used to bring down the head, stun it, and cause it to take additional damage. If you kill the Assault Bots fast enough, you'll have a good 10-15sec to burn the boss before the next Assault Bot spawns. The junk bots can be easily tanked and AOEed once the phase is over.
Phase 4 is basically a combination of all three previous phases, so as you could imagine, it's quite hectic. Split up your DPS among each of the three parts of the machine, while everyone keeps a close eye on the health of all three parts to ensure they will all die within seconds of each other. Whoever tanked the head phase 3 should do so again here. This part is partially luck-based (a Laser Barrage and Shock Blast at once will almost certainly kill some of your melee) and requires everyone to be very observant of when a Laser Barrage or Shock Blast is coming, which are the most dangerous parts of this phase. Stay calm, stay focused, and you'll get him down.

As a side note, Mimiron is an obvious allusion to Mimir the Wise, from Norse mythology.
Being the guardian of a well of wisdom situated at one of the roots of the world tree, Yggdrasil, he would drink deep from it and be granted great knowledge. Odin/Wodan, the All-Father, pulled out one of his eyes from its socket and threw it in the well as payment for being allowed to drink from the waters.
The Keepers of Ulduar all having names referencing Norse mythology and said mythology's lack of a real god of wisdom, Mimir was the obvious choice.

In comparison with the other 3 keeper bosses (Hodir, Thorim, Freya), this boss is extremely difficult. It took my guild upwards of 12 hours of attempts to down him on 10-man. Here is some advice:
This is not the most melee friendly fight. Although you can certainly do it with a good amount of melee, it seems to go smoother if you only have one or two. We tried this boss with multiple group set-ups; here is the one we killed him with.
Feral Druid (Tank)
Boomkin, Hunter, Hunter, Mage, Warlock (Ranged DPS)
Enhance Shaman (Melee DPS)
Holy Pally, Resto Druid, Holy Priest (Healers)
The composition on this boss is flexible; no specific classes are needed. Although it may be possible to 2-heal this boss, we were unable to do so because of the plasma blasts in phase 1.
The most important thing to consider when selecting people for this fight is awareness. The challenge of this fight is avoiding the many ways you can die if you are not completely focused. With that in mind, it will take a while before your group members will get good at this fight. You'll probably wipe a lot on the first three phases before you get them perfect. Patience is key; repeated deaths on the same mechanic, however, should raise some eyebrows.
In phase 1, have your ranged DPS and healers spread out on one side of the boss. Once they have a spot they don't have to move for the rest of the phase. The boss will shoot a fire ball at one person that will put a DOT on them and they have to be healed through it. The boss does an ability called Plasma Blast that hits the main tank for 17,600 damage per second unmitigated for 5 seconds. The tank must be spam healed through this. A cooldown rotation is highly recommended for both the tank's cooldowns and any other mitigation cooldowns in the raid, such as Divine Guardian. With proper DPS you should only get 2 or 3 plasma blasts.
Here is an example cooldown rotation for a feral tank's abilities: First blast barkskin. Second blast survival instincts and frenzied regeneration. Third blast barkskin.
Other than that, the main raid killer in this phase is the boss's shock blast and mines. After each plasma blast (sometimes during a plasma blast if you have high DPS), the boss will do a shock blast. You can see him casting this ability, and when he does melee and the tank have to run away from him. The ability is an AOE that will one-shot anyone who doesn't run. It does less damage the further you run. The range is relatively small, only about 15 yards, so as long as you run you should live. While running out make sure you run through a gap in the mines surrounding the boss (he throws mines in a circle around him periodically). Although one mine is not life-threatening, two or more can kill you.
You can charge back in after the shock blast, but be aware that charge pathing can run you through mines if you aren't careful. If the run distance and timing are executed perfectly, a warrior or feral druid tank can keep the boss from moving when they charge back in.
At the beginning of phase two, stay away from leftover mines; don't worry, they will explode by the start of the phase. Also, do not stand on the circle in the middle of the room; you will get thrown back when the floor opens up. On this phase the boss is untankable and will shoot a conal attack directed at one person. The conal attack will also hit anyone else near the person so ranged need to spread out. Melee DPS should continually run behind the boss each time he turns. The boss will also do an ability called Laser Barrage which follows the cast 'spinning up'. Similar to The Lurker Below's spout attack, anyone caught in front of the boss during this ability will be killed almost instantly; it deals about 18k damage every 0.5 seconds. his ability only goes 180 degrees and only goes in the direction the boss span up, so just run behind him. Melee should be careful not to stand too far into the boss's center or the barrage may clip them.
Ths boss will also shoot a rocket off his back. If you are the target of the rocket a flashing red circle will appear beneath your feet. You must run out of the circle or you will be one-shotted.
In phase 3, you will fight an aerial unit. A ranged DPS must tank this (we used a warlock). On this phase the tank should be picking up assault bots (which spawn from orange beams of light) and junk bots (which spawn from green beams of light). Assault bots will one-shot a non-tank so it is crucial that they are picked up ASAP; junk bots do not hit hard so if one is loose it is not a priority until assault bots are secured. All melee DPS should be on these bots while the command unit is in the air. Assault bots can be stunned, and will also do a channeled spell 'magnetic pull' that stuns the tank. This is interruptable.
Assault bots drop an item called magnetic core (like the cores on Lady Vashj). One person should be assigned to pick these up and put them below the boss. This will pull the boss onto the ground; everybody should DPS him during this time.
All ranged should have a macro '/target Bomb Bot'. Bomb bots will spawn throughout this phase; they run very fast and will likely kill anyone they get to. Ranged must target them as soon as the bots drop through the air. They should be dead within a few seconds of hitting the ground so that they don't get near anybody; if a bomb bot is coming toward you run away. Assault and junk bots should be tanked away from where bomb bots land to avoid melee being blown up.
After the command unit is down, kill any remaining bots and get into position (ranged spread out). The three machines will now combine and maintain some of their previous abilities. The bottom will still throw mines and shock blast, the middle will still do a conal attack, rockets, and laser barrage, and the top will still shoot plasma balls at its primary target. Each unit starts at 50% health . Melee are only capable of attacking the bottom and middle. All of these parts must be killed within 5 seconds of each other or they will self-repair.
The most challenging part of this phase is the laser barrage. With everything else going on it is easy for ranged and healers to not notice the barrage quickly enough and be caught in it; it can also be difficult to get away in time if the barrage faces directly at you. Everybody must remain aware for this phase. You must continue to avoid mines, shock blast, rockets, and laser barrage, while spreading out for the conal attack and paying attention to health %s as you burn the three parts down.
Tanking is very sensitive during this phase. It is important to move the boss as little as possible, and to reposition quickly after shock blast. Note that the boss can do shock blast and laser barrage right after each other; this is difficult to handle. During the laser barrage the bottom of the boss can be turned seperately from the middle so that the tank can avoid being hit.
Just keep your cool and stay alive. The better your raid gets at living the sooner you will down this boss.

I dont know about you guys, but my guild has been stuck on phase 4 of Mimiron for the last week. Try as we may our efforts are thwarted. When messing around like i do best, I found that you can actually apply
to the lower body of the Machine in P4 and make the Head attackable by melee. This can help greatly with keeping everything within the 15 second kill range. I havent been able to take screen shots but its a pretty easy concept to understand.

As of the latest patch, the P3Wx2 Laser Barrage in phase 4 will now go at the usual speed. On some raids, the laser will spin at one rotation per second. This is a glitch that wiped many raids.
You can bug it out to reset it if you have a warlock. Get them to put their demonic circle up at the roaming boomers outside the boss room, and if the tank dies/raid starts to wipe etc you can have him recall, and once the boss makes it down the agro charts to him he will run through the wall and reset the fight.
It's not a foolproof safety net because anyone with higher threat will get pulped, (and random raid members will get hit by phase specific skills such as napalm) but it can usually save a healer or, in the very least, some repair monies.
After reading some of the strats on this boss, i wanted to put in my own lil helping comment. On the 3rd phase, we found a very easy way to get through it was to have a high health individual that can taunt, who wasnt the MT, to stand near Mimiron to wait for the bomb bots to drop out. He then taunted it and just took the dmg. Doing that ment we could just all group up and deal with the adds/dps the boss unhindered. It works for out 10 man, not sure if it holds true in 25man

does anyone have any tips for avoiding the missles during phase 2 for melee? when the boss is using heat wave its really difficult to see the mark on the ground that indicates the missle is going to land on a melee dps. we only get by from sheer luck i think...

You will immediately get around 30k threat. Since ranged dps will concentrate on assault bots very soon, you can get some more reflections so threat will not be a problem even once he lands.
Major changes to several bosses in 3.1.2, here are the Mimiron changes.
* Proximity Mines now deals 15000 Fire damage. (Down from 25000 damage)
* Emergency Mode (Hard Mode) now increases damage and health by 30%. (Up from 25%)
For 10 man I found it worthwhile to just have 1 tank wearing a set just focused on health. 60% of the damage you eat is magical and comes in hughe bursts (p1) your armor, mitigation and avoidance dont help at all. This also helps finishing phase 1 to 3 a lot faster.
As a druid with around 48k hp buffed, I was completly self-reliable with my 3 cooldowns (Barkskin for the 1st and 3rd, survival instincts (last stand equivalent w/ glyph) for 2nd, and frenzied regeneration / heal pot for the 4th)
P 1-3 seemed easy, at least with our 3-healer setup, but p4 turned out to be just a nightmare for me as a tank. The rockets land so quickly that calling them out over vent wasnt providing enough time to react and I didnt have enough oversight to do all the things I needed to do (dodging shockblast, finding holes in the minefield, positioning the boss correctly and my roatation) while watching the back of the boss for rocket launches at the same time.
Once we started using baby spice to shrink the lower part, I was able to see the target circle of the rockets and we downed the boss on the 2nd attempt.
Just to give this a little added boost, there's an easy method for dealing with the bombs that would only require minimal extra coordination from the raid as a whole.
This macro when used effectivly shoots the chosen spell at any Bomb bots that are nearby, the targetlasttarget line resets your target to who or what you were previously targeting so quick its as if you never lost target in the first place. This can be used by DPS, Tanks and Healers alike with any form of instant ranged attack. Get your raid used to mashing this button a few times when someone over vent calls out the bomb spawn and Boom, no more bomb.
Note for melee on phase 4:
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT turn your camera up high to get a clearer view of the mines while in p4 if you are having trouble seeing them with the boss twisting around too much. The construction thingie on the roof does not clip your camera and you will be basically blind if your camera distance is set far away enough.
Learned the hard when trying to move away from shock blast and didnt take a close enough look at mines beforehand :Z
One thing I noticed today whilst attempting the 10-man version that I've yet to see mentioned elsewhere is that on the phase 3 to phase 4 transition, as you kill the remaining Assault Bot(s), you can actually loot their Cores still and hold onto them.
Upon phase 4 starting simply dropping the Core underneath V0-L7R-0N causes the Head to take 50% extra damage. This greatly helps with the DPS burn required to get through this last phase quickly.

Potion of Nightmares
is extremely useful for healers between the phases. Use before or after phase 2.
My guild was without a warlock, stuck on mimiron, for lack of a head tank that could hold aggro and stay alive reliably. Then while playing with my talent spec (im a mage) i found a ungodly strong combo for a tank..
The setup equires a disc priest, and mage in enough resist gear to give around 310 arcane and fire resistance (when adding talents and buffs), but have your arcane resist slighty higher, can be done with rings cloak and belt and the spec below while using mage armor.
phase 1 and 2, the mage will be doing pretty dismal damage, but once he starts tanking, have the disc priest healing / shielding him, his sp will go thru the roof (i was at ~3500sp 90% of the time) and I had around 40-50% mitigation.
now for the reason for higher arcane resist, this is speculation, testing it next week, while shielded, have fire ward up with the "frost warding" talent. If you are familiar with the mage spell 'frosfire' you will know it does whichever damage type is resisted less. If spellfire works the same (which it appears to) it should trip the fire ward. Your ward is the last to go in shield order, it becomes a free 5-10k mana or more, every 30 sec, making a arcane blast spam at high spellpower be a viable attack pattern.
The base setup works like a dream, the last section, not sure about, feel free to try it out, its fun =D
edit: tested the mana regen with fire ward, it dosn't seem to work, so keep ur arcane and ur fire resist as even as possible.
Now, for some mathematics for those of us who are ranged DPS or healers in phase 2 and believe that standing closer to the boss than in phase 1 (Where mines would make standing close equal a bad thing.) doesn't provide any benefit.
In phase 2, his turret will randomly target a person and do a frontal cone AoE attack to people who are close to his target. The cone type attack means that the width of the attack increases the further away you stand, but the angle remains the same. Now, all the possible ways it can turn is 360 degrees, but it fires in an angle of X degrees. Standing close means that the width is smaller due to the radius R in the formula for cone width (X/360)*pi*R^2 being smaller. The same amount of people will get hit, since everyone's standing still at a given angle anyway.
This formula goes for the P3Wx2 cannon attack as well, which rotates Y degrees, but requires you to run away from it, making a small distance desirable.
Standing far away (A large R in the formula) means that the distance you have to run is a lot larger. You have to move the same amount of degrees anyway, but whereas the angle is constant, the radius increases with distance. Doubling your distance from the boss means that the distance you have to run to avoid the attack is quadrupled, meaning that even though you might get around the boss and spend half the duration of the beam attacks unloading those incredible Fireball crits if you stand close to the boss, and might not even outrun the beam at all if you stand close to the walls in the room.

I can't for the life of me figure out why all guides say you should kite the Assault Bots in phase 3. They're perfectly tankable in 25 man, just don't get hit right after they spawn.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet - Mimiron could very well be a reference to the Norse figure
, much as you have Hodir from Odin, Thorim from Thor, and Freya from Freyr (and Loken from Loki). Like Mimiron he was supposed to be some wise and intelligent figure, though sadly not a mechano-gnome. He was decapitated and Odin took his head, not to make his own V0-L7R-0N to defend himself but rather to use it for advice and counsel.
If you start hardmode once, can you choose to not go for hardmode another time? Had fun pulling him and then circle teleported out to see some great killing sprees, and wanted to try to start hardmode, but I didn't dare becuse maybe he would be stuck on enrage.

In Hard Mode Mimiron helps extinguish the fires:
Phase 1 and 4: The Leviathan MK II casts
around the time he casts the 2nd and 4th Shock Blasts. They cannot occur at the same time, but either one can be cast first.
Phase 2: the VX-001 will cast out a Frost Bomb into a patch of fire, after a few seconds it explodes dealing
9425-10575 damage on Normal
) in a 30 yard radius and knocking you back. It also extinguishes the fires in the area.
He also uses a weaker
in this phase, which clears out the fires in melee range. It is cast often, but never during the Spinning Up/Pewx2 Barrage casts.
Phase 3: As mentioned, Summons the Emergency Fire Bots. On Normal Mode these do not Silence you, and on Heroic the Silence seems to only affect melee range.

What I like the most of this fight is that in order to get to the boss (before this portal-thing is activated) you need to take a train. It bears certain resemblance to the one Emmett "Doc" Brown created in the 3rd part of "Back to the future" trilogy. Don't forget to turn back and look at it, when you get off.
Does anyone else think they shold have gotten Richard Horvitz, the voice of Invader Zim, to do Mimiron? Everytime I fight him I imagine Zim's voice and I crack up.

if in phase 1 mimiron started casting shock blast but you think that you can finish him off faster than 4 seconds - dont do that. vehicle stops taking damage on 1% health and finishes casting which means all meelee dps and tank are dead.
Fought him for the first time last night in 10-man, and all I gotta say is come prepared, because this is one tough fight. Each phase seems to get progressively more difficult, which the 4th and final phase being the hardest.
Our group made the mistake of not bringing enough caster DPS along for the fight, so they could not keep up with our melee. The first 3 phases actually aren't that bad, but be very careful of the bombs he drops in phase 3. Raid warning macros will come very effective here, especially if you're the tank or melee DPS and are grouped up with all the trash adds that spawn, as you won't always necessarily know where the bombs are. Once you're past that, the whole trick is assigning DPS roles to the 3 different parts of Mimiron in phase 4 to ensure that he is defeated properly.
unlike the written tacts say, you have 10 minutes to get all 4 parts down after pushing the big shiny red button

From my experience this is one of the hardest Hard Modes I have ever encountered.The tactics are not overly complicated, but you cannot possibly overlook them. Even if you overgear this fight, everyone must play according to the tactics, because if one player fails, that soon becomes a raid-wide mistake. Furthermore, it is crucial that no one dies over the course of the fight. Every raid member will be an important asset if you hope to beat this Hard Mode.
Most will already know, but to activate this Hard Mode you need to push the
big red button
in Mimiron's room. After wiping quite a few times, my group came up with a strategy. I haven't read many guides on this fight, so this is my contribution for anyone who wishes to get the
. In each phase section I will provide a description of what you will be up against, how to deal with it, and also a small separate explanation of the boss' abilities during each phase.
In between phases your group should stack at an assigned player near the wall, so that the fires will go to the back of the room and don't occupy precious space. Also,
Fire Resistance Aura
is gold here.
During this phase Mimiron will be on a vehicle, the Leviathan Mk. This is the easiest of the four phases. We had two tanks, one Warrior and one DK. This made it much easier for the healers because since we didn't have a Druid tank. We had the OT taunt the boss when the MT was afflicted by
. Overall, ranged dps & the healers stayed close (with 6 yards between each other) and kept moving clockwise as the fire followed in their trail. It is wise to stay as close to the wall as possible so that the tanks have more space to move in case the middle is overrun with fire.
> This ability takes 5 seconds to cast, and should ALWAYS be avoided by running away from the boss. If your tank(s) and melee get hit by this they will die. Warrior tanks can make good use of

are also helpful to lessen the amount of damage the tank takes from the Plasma Blast.
> This is the reason why healers and ranged must stay 6 yards from each other. The boss will cast it on a random ranged player, and if player Y is close to player X (the victim), he too will take damage from the Shell.
> These will be spawned around the boss, and if not triggered by players, explode after roughly 30 seconds. One will not kill you, but if you trip over two or three things will go wrong, so be mindful of them.
Phase two starts when Mimiron's Leviathan is defeated. He will now jump to a cannon-like machine, the VX-001. This phase will be pretty hard on your healers, and cannot be tanked, so the tanks should just focus on doing as much damage as they can. To reduce the damage the raid takes we divided the ranged into sub-groups. Group #1 (Warlock, Mage, R-Druid) and Group #2 (Boomkin n' Holy Priest). We decided that the groups should stay 20 yards apart so that only one of them would get hit by the cannon's shots, while moving when necessary due to flames & Laser Barrage.
> This ability will normally be cast once or twice during phase two. You can anticipate it by watching the boss
and see where his faces his cannons: this attack is frontal cone-only, meaning the raid will need to behind the boss to avoid taking damage, which will result in death. This is this phase's most deadly ability.
You will know where these will land by noticing the
red impact circles
on the floor, similar to Hodir's ice. Getting hit by these will generally mean death.
> This is why I suggest splitting the ranged into two groups. You will have to eat the damage, but it is also a frontal cone attack, so only one of the sub-groups has to take it.
> Raid-wide 'Fire Nova', unavoidable.
Phase three is initiated after the defeat of the VX-001. This time Mimiron will jump to his Aerial Command Unit, which resembles his head. This phase cannot be tanked by melee since the boss is airbourne, meaning a ranged dps will have to tank. To do this, we had a warlock (me) spam
to help build quick threat on the Aerial Unit. It is important for the raid to stay together in this phase so that the fires do not spread too much. Moreover, the tanks need to fast about picking up the adds so the ranged can dps the Aerial Unit with minimal fuss, while the melee destroy the adds. After you destroy the Aerial Unit, you will enter phase 4 We succeeded this way without pulling the 'Head' down.
> This is the Aerial Unit's only attack, and it will be cast on your ranged 'tank'. One healer should be assigned to said tank due to this attack.
, all these will spawn during p3 and must quickly be gathered by the tank(s). The most dangerous, the Bomb Bots, must either be killed by ranged or slowed by a
Phase 4 is, as you might expect, the hardest. In phase 4, for you will need to deal with all the previous vehicles' abilities when Mimiron unites them to form the V-07-TR-0N. This new robot will have Shock Blast, the Laser Barrage, and the Rockets. To make matters worse, the room will be overrun by fire and you will have little room to work with, not to mention you have an enrage timer to beat. It is now possible to reach this phase with good 4 minutes to spend, although it is unlikely your raid will last 4 minutes in phase 4. Survivability will become a serious issue here, and you must kill the V-07-TR-0N before he kills you. To succeed it is vital that all parts of the robot must die within seconds of each other, or they will repair and you will inevitably wipe. Best of Luck.
Thought I should add that this boss is "Engineerable" after death, much like many Stone constructs are mineable.

After you push the big red button, There's a female voice telling the time of self-destruct which is like Dexter's Computer voice.
So ye, my point is that this boss must be the reference of Dexter :)
The article for this boss is incorrect regarding Rocket Strikes during Phase 4. It claims that the Leviathan MK II is stunned while Rocket Strikes are being fired, but this only happens while the VX-001 is casting Spinning Up (which, strangely, isn't mentioned in the article).
Solo'd easily as a blood DK in 382 ilvl dps gear.
Use smart use of your cooldowns in phase 1 and 4 and the fight is cake. In phase 4, I just heart struck the middle boss (voltron) and the cleave would damage all the others, including the head. The bottom two had to rebuild themselves a couple time before the head was ready to be taken out, but just power through it and it will ready to kill with the other two, for a third time.

Hardmode is really intense as a death knight. I know it was done quite a while ago, but it's still perhaps the hardest doable boss in ulduar (other than yogg hardmodes).
I used full DPS gear, with tank 2pc and rings (total 401 iLvl). More tanking gear isn't really needed, maybe except trinkets (mirror would have been decent). 94% of the damage is magical, so mastery is useless - I used a full haste/hit/exp reforge.
Phases 1-3 are nothing serious, Leviathan does quite a bit of damage, but nothing that can't be healed through. Shock blast does ~100k damage, run away unless you have AMS. Plasma blast is what does the damage here. VX-001 is a joke, don't get hit by barrage or rockets, though. Air unit can be killed in two landings, using all bursts including ERW.
Phase 4 is by far the hardest, with very high incoming damage (mostly from the damage comes from plasma ball and napalm). The idea is to only hit VX-001 (the middle one), spreading diseases and using heart strike as much as you can without dying from lack of death strikes. The middle unit will die and repair, maybe even twice, depending on DS/HS ratio. When the head is close to dying (under 100k), get a couple death strikes on the Leviathan so it has the same HP, then focus on killing VX-001 again, only using death strikes except for the very end. It repaired twice for me, and I had 20 seconds until the enrage, so watch the timer.

The fight consists of four phases - in each phase Mimiron uses some vehicle. Hard Mode is activated by pressing the Big Red Button.
P1 (Leviathan MK II):
You should stay outside the circle of mines, due to Shock Blast. During Napalm Shell your minion will need more healing. Try not to spread the fire throughout the room and not stand in it. Kite the fire like I did on vid.
Summon Fel Imp instead of Voidlord and do not stand next to him (like me...), otherwise it will die from Rocket Strike. Rocket Strike is deadly and must necessarily be avoided. P3Wx2 Laser Barrage must be avoided too. Try not to spread the fire throughout the room and not stand in it. Kite the fire like I did on vid. In this phase, the fire will be extinguished by Frost Bomb, which should be avoided.
P3 (Aerial Command Unit):
Summon Voidlord instead of Fel Imp. The priority is to destroy all the adds except Emergency Fire Bot. Try to destroy Bomb Bots, before they reach you. You can loot Magnetic Core from Assault Bot and use it underneath Aerial Command Unit in order to disable Mimiron's vehicle, so it will receive an extra dmg. I have not used it, because I like to make life difficult :P Now you can spread the fire throughout the room, because you will have at the disposal firefighters (Emergency Fire Bots), who will extinguish the fire in the room. Remember to stay away from the fire!
Each of the previous vehicles have their own health pool and can be targeted separately. All three targetable sections begin this phase at 50% health and they need to be destroyed within 10 seconds of each other, otherwise they respawn. In this phase, you need to avoid Rocket Strike and P3Wx2 Laser Barrage again. You should also stay outside the circle of mines, due to Shock Blast. You deal with the fire as well as in phase 3.
You have 10 minutes to complete the encounter. Good Luck and Have Fun!
How to: Solo Mirmiron Hard Mode
Blood DK ilvl 490: Phase 4 (10 Man Normal).
Put the head (Aerial Command Unit) of the boss on Focus and keep your Outbreak ticking on the head while spamming Icy Touch as often as you can; the head is out of reach of your melee attacks. You may periodically need to switch to the middle and lower sections to Death Strike yourself some heals.
Once the head is below 150-170k health, let your diseases expire and begin dps'ing down the 2 lower sections by using non-disease attacks (so you have greater control over their hitpoints). Once both of the 2 lower sections are under approximately 80k, summon Army of the Dead, and kill the 2 bottom sections as quickly as you can, use Empower Rune Weapon to replenish your runes, then select the head (which is on Focus) and employ Icy Touch spam to finish the fight before the other sections can repair.
Just soloed 25 man version as a 491 ret pally. Quite challenging and very enjoyable at the same time. 15 min enrage coupled with some fairly serious dmg in phases 1 and 4 made for a fine line between dps and survivability. Most likely if you can survive through the first phase you can probably kill it.

very useful for surviving particularly in phase 1. Phase 1 is mostly about surviving, the Shock Blast hits for 100k so its best to avoid it, though it wont kill you. DP can mitigate alot of damage in this phase as well. Phase 2 and 3 have pretty much no damage so you really want to focus on dps'ing and try to get through as quickly as possible. I found i could get through phase 3 very quickly if i waited till i had 2
, and used AW, GoaK and a mogu pot to burn him down. If you have less than 5 mins before the enrage going into the last phase you probably wont make it. Phase 4 is actually easier to survive in then the first phase since you can get alot of self heals by targeting VX-001 and using HotR + SoI. AW will help burn down the head in this phase, as combo of judgement, exorcism and HoW will bring down it HP fast. Beyond that its just about keeping yourself alive while getting the other parts below 10%, and trying to have your cd's up for the final burn. Unless your dps is awesome i don't think you can afford to have any part heal so you have 1 shot to kill all 3 parts.
We recently successfully duo'd this fight on 25-man Hard Mode with an ilvl 503 BrM Monk and an ilvl 525 Elemental Shaman.

Great, can't solo it because i can't kill the head as melee..just killing 2 lower body parts and then they heal again...just wtf
Okay here's the trick for Fury warriors. You may need to respec to the talents below. Drag him around the room avoiding Rocket Strike. Take the two bottom parts down to close to death, then focus on the head with Storm Bolt, Dragon Roar, and Heroic Throw every time the cooldowns are up. Once the head is down, finish the other two. This was the only way I could do it.
As a Rogue, use Shuriken Toss to kill the head.
I feel it's safe to say raid groups got higher repair bills from the bombs on the way to Mimiron than from Mimiron himself.
This fight is ridiculously easy to solo, even on 25-man hard mode, as of 6.0.2 at level 90. I took great satisfaction in completing Firefighter 25-man solo (having done it on 10- and 25-man back in the day).
Couldn't take him as Combat Rogue. Can't hit head in phase 4. Going to respec with Shuriken Toss tonight and have another go.
When you die before the chest show even you kill the boss, you can't loot the chest. It just happened to me. I died right after the boss died, but before Mimiron jumped outta the robot. when i rez, the chest was unclickable. I could loot the boss fro junk items, but couldn't loot the chest, couldnt even click it.
This fight can be quite difficult for the melee class. You need a ranged ability or two to defeat the head when it's both alone and as a whole for the final phase. You also need to not be standing in the center as phases change or you can be one-shot. On final phase, not sure what but something was one-shotting me every time. I had to have a friend come help.

On mimiron 25 man hard mode, I died a lot on my
frost mage item level 666
. I explain why:
In phase 4, when you have to attack the head, the body and the tank, Avoid the red circle on the ground if they pop. I did that so I could attack Mimiron
all my life
if I wanted to.
Mimiron, in phase 4 got 3 parts
~ Tank (bottom part)
So I killed his head, body and tank. But after I killed everything, he wasnt dead! When I killed the 3 part in this order, tank-body-head, the tank part was alive again after i killed the head. So I killed again the tank part, then the body was alive again... So I killed the body, again, then the head was alive again... It was like that for 10 min, then I abdicated.
So what's the order to kill him in phase 4? Is it the head first, the body second and the tank last?

For feral druids who wish to solo Mimi (and I would guess other melee classes also) I have found that if, in the last phase, I turn away from him and use my aoes, all parts die at the same time. This is because my auto attack is not taking down the lower parts faster than the head. It made the fight rather trivial for me.
Yes, your aoes WILL reach the head.
Warriors may find him frustrating to solo, especially Firefighter 25. Respec Protection for the Thunderclap bleed and no cooldown on Heroic Throw and you should have no problems bringing the head down in time before the enrage.
If you die on Mimiron, it is because of 1 ability named
. This chit does 5 millions of fire damage so it kills you instantly. So you should click the link in this comment and also check the screenshots of this, to see what it look like. After you'll be ready to avoid this chit, during the fight.

For Melee classes, during his flying phase, there's an item you can loot off the mobs that spawn that brings him down to the ground.
During the final phase, when you're fighting all 3 at once, it should be noted that the flying part is closer to the ground than before. Any melee ability with an 8 yard range (Whirlwind for example) will hit it, so don't waste your time just using Heroic throws.
This boss is significantly easier if you bring some ranged dps with you. It's possible to solo as a melee, but you save yourself a lot of trouble if you don't. The last phase requires you to get all parts down at once, which as a melee is tricky as you're entirely reliant on the items that drop from the adds during the encounter.
Funny thing: at level 100+, you out-heal the self-destruction explosion.
So as long as you have a weak range attack, you can kill Mimiron hardmode, it can take ages, but it works eventually, I got the achiev on my alt so I'm sure the hardmode kill was validated with the self-destruction explosion ongoing since the Aerial phase! :)

So is it just me or is this guy bugged since a while back?
Whenever he switches to the flying phase, there's two problems.
1. I can't target him even with ranged attacks, using Pistol Shot on my Rogue keeps giving me the "out of range" message, no matter where I stand.
2. The item that drops off of one of the adds no longer makes the boss drop to the ground.
I've still managed to kill him, though. I jump back and forth beneath him, and spam a few attacks. Every now and then one attack manages to hit him, and luckily you do so much damage to him at level 110 that he dies in one or two hits.
Still, really annoying as it makes the fight longer than it needs to be. I already found it annoying to have to wait in between the phases..
Am I the only one with this problem?
As of 7.3.5, the hard mode loot now drops from a chest called Cache of Heroic Innovation that spawns next to the normal chest. Make sure to loot it!
