Vern, a big crocolisk is wandering at the Underbelly in Dalaran, when you look down at the north-eastern part of the place and /target Vern, there he is.
As far as I know, unkillable.

You may be able to kill it by staying neutral with Kirin'tor and then going hostile against them. Unconfirmed.
He only has about 5.7k Health though.

Hehe. I got to this guys. Thought i was the first to get to him, guess not. Anyways you can also get into the dal arena if you fly left instead of flying to vern.

You can get to lots of places from under Dalaran, Vern's room is one of the coolest but certainly not the only place.
You can get into the Arcane magic book room (though you cannot get the pet prematurely).
You can get into all 3 bank vault rooms, and the teller windows.
You can get into the arena.
You can get into the force field rooms at the heroic and non-heroic daily dungeon quest giver.
I don't know of any others at the moment, but always searching =)

I meet Vern! if you fly up to the ceiling where the entrance to the underbelly is then fly straight down into the water it is much easier then flying at the pipes constantly but remember you must be in wasp form from the underbelly elixars that are found all around the underbelly. But there is one thing I dont understand is if hes always there why is he a rare spwan.

For some reason this mob has caused a strong attraction to the: "Stupid Comment Posters"! I mean really making just random ideas that this thing is tamable and how it has 6 legs? So much down rating it's amazing.
PS: feel free to down rate this comment as it really is irrelevant to anything I just wanted to vent.

I'm a little confused as to why this croc who isn't even visible without exploits has a wowhead page, but the little cat in the Dalaran neutral inn doesn't...

I looked this up because my friend and I were doing arenas when all of a sudden Vern flew out of the wall, and across the stadium before disappearing through the floor. We both saw it and kinda freaked out... wierd glitch?

Happened yesterday, entered Dalaran Arena (rated), and when the pipes erupted water.. I saw a crockolisk flying inside!
It was really Vern.. just I wasn't expecting it into a rated arena! After flying down, disappeared, just had time to select it and screenshot.
Will upload it :)

Saw Vern for the 1st time today. After reading the posts about him, I decided to give it a try. I had a stack of Underbelly Elixir on my druid, so I tried finding my way down to him. No luck.
The most detailed post (Rioko 2008/12/28) mentioned some pipes on the right of the SW exit. The only SW exit is the pipe that runs outside Dal and I find no other pipes anywhere near it. I even checked outside. Nada. That entrance is Cantrips and Crows (31, 51) on my Titan tool bar (near sewer bank/mailbox for those without co-ordinates).
Nearby is the NW egress (34, 43) which leads up to the surface, near the Dalaran graveyard and the Violet Citadel. This egress
does
have 2 pipes coming out of the wall to the right of the entrance/exit if you're heading up and out via that tunnel. The 2 pipes also have a grate across them and an invisible wall that I could not get past as a elixir transformed bug that can fly (flying wasp per the tool tip) or by walking/jumping/mounting and jumping/etc as a NE druid. These pipes drain into a water filled low space that is behind the invisible wall and is also not accessible. (I did try to check for any sign of another tunnel or pipe in all of the areas like this by standing at each end and angling my camera. This allowed me to see all of them completely, with some effort, but in both cases there doesn't seem to be anything.) Between the pipes in the wall and the tunnel to the surface is a drain for the water that runs along the floor. It has an equally impassable grate that has the Monstrous Underbelly Rat behind as I type this.
Opposite the grate that has the M.U. Rat is another grate where the water flows in. Behind it is what appears to be a closed room/area with a bunch of Underbelly Rats and what looks like either 2 separate corpses or one really large 1 torn in half. There are no pipes in the walls here, although to the left is the steps that lead to the Circle of Wills.
The 3rd egress is the eastern tunnel (64, 48) that exits near the flight path stairs and the mage portal trainer (Archmage Celindra). It also has 2 pipes to the R of the tunnel as you face it. Both of which have grates on them and an invisible wall I was equally unable to access. Like the NW one, these pipes drain into a water filled low space behind the invisible wall, so it can't be reached. There's also a drain for the water on the floor between the pipes on the wall and the tunnel, although as I write this post there's nothing behind that grate besides empty space. This was the side of the sewer I was on when I spotted Vern under the floor through the grate that Natalie Tootiblare & The Chooch are standing on. (Note: Facts of Life TV show reference there.)
Past Natalie and The Chooch is another drain for the water on the floor with a matching grate. It currently shows me the Washed-Up Mage behind this grate (43, 24). (I want to say I go the recipe for Kungaloosh from him, but I can't swear to it). The mage appears to be lying in a tunnel that either curves out of sight, dead ends into a wall, or drops off. When I'm facing him there are 2 pipes exiting the wall on either side of me. Each side has a large pipe above a small pipe with each set of pipes draining into a separate water filled low space behind another invisible wall similar to the pipes I mentioned near each egress. All 4 pipes have grates across them similar to what I have seen inside the pipes by the two tunnels to the surface. (I hadn't tried while transformed into a wasp when I first started writing this, but did so later on. See later on in the post.)
Strangely enough I discovered by accident that I could mount up on a flying mount here. I could also go into flight form here as well. One of the posts I read mentioned mounting up on a flying mount, which is why I'm including this discovery. The opposite walkway with the rats on either end, near the bank/inn/mailbox does not allow flight form, nor does the Circle of Wills. The SW egress that leads outside from the Cantrips & Crows Tavern won't allow you to shift until the very end.
Next to this walkway is a 2nd one that runs parallel to it and also has a flow of water with a grate on either end (59, 36 near the egress & 50, 25 near the mage). The end near the mage has a tunnel that contains an Underbelly Croc lvl 80 that emotes about staring at me "hungrily while he licks his chips." This tunnel (behind the grate with the croc) seems to either dead end or drop off, similar to the one with the mage in it, but is smaller in width/height and longer in length. The tunnel behind the grate near the egress seems to be empty and again dead ends.
Going back and forth up this second walkway/water flow, I stayed in flight form the whole time. Once I left the walkway to enter the Black Market, I was transformed back out. Walking back towards the walkway via the connecting tunnel, I found that at about halfway through it I could shift back again (56, 24). Inside the Black Market itself there were no pipes coming out of the walls. I even went swimming, killed Segacedi, and checked underwater to be sure. Nada.
The Circle of Wills has several short pipes that act as pass-throughs to connect it to the walks on either side, but no other pipes that I could find.
The Cantrips & Crows Inn has eight half circle shaped pipes draining water into the area below the dock it is built on. 4 of which actually drain water off the walk and 4 that drain from the opposite wall, next to the inn proper. The 4 draining off the walk way are short due to their placement. You can see the walls/pass-throughs that sit between the walk and the Circle of Wills when standing on the dock the inn is built on. The 4 that come from the wall the inn rests against seem to be equally short, appearing to dead end. I tried all 8 via wasp from, but was stopped by a mini invisible wall.
There is a large grate at the SE end of the water that the inn rests on (49, 70). It appears to have a tunnel with water in it and a grate at the far end. Behind the far grate appears to be a wall, but as it is unassailable, I can't be sure. I did swim around under the in to check for any sign of pipes or caves, but again nada.
So I tried being in flight form on the pipes near the Washed-up Mage (43, 25). Nada. So I tried the Underbelly Elixir again. Once I got flying wasp form I noticed 2 things while trying the pipes on my left as I faced the mage. One, my battle pet Tito, was standing on the invisible wall, about parallel to the lower part of the larger pipe. The 2nd thing I noticed while angling my camera to look at Tito was that the wall below the larger pipe looks different. It appears to have a large stone or piece of wood sticking out into the water below. Not hugely so, but enough to be very noticeable. I don't know if this is merely a graphics bug or if it's significant, but I'm mentioning it just in case. When I moved my camera p.o.v. around, it disappears & the wall seems to be smooth above/below the waterline. Moving around as a wasp, Tito pops in and out of existence, landing even higher on the invisible wall sometimes. I tried the opposite side (the right side as I faced the mage) until the elixir ran out, but still nada. Repeat Tito standing on wall though there was no matching wood/stone from any P.O.V.
The idea that Tito might accidentally end up behind the wall I want to get past so badly makes me wanna /facedesk myself.
Will reread the posts and try again later.

He cannot be killed. I don't know why Blizzard would add an un-killable rare spawn.
