Very easy boss, just have a good team two tanks, and all is good.
Hard boss to do if you dont have the levels for it. The simple strat for him is to have a tank and healer summon him in his room, and then kite him into the room where you faught the 4 stone npcs only a few minutes earlier. Fighting him this way stops him from summoning the Big elites near the end and just makes 1 mob run up at a time.
The above method works but is not needed to down him with almost any group. Just simply assign a rogue / hunter / paladin to killing the adds as they spawn, and when he's near 25% life and calls the elite adds everyone simply goes all in on the boss. When he dies, his adds die as well.
The major problem with Uldaman is that the beginning part of the Instance is much lower than the end part of it. The use of a backdoor halfway through the instance makes it pretty clear that Uldaman was supposed to be made for a Lower Level front run and then a Higher Level Back Run.
Archaedas is fairly easy to kill with an appropriate leveled group (level 43 or so members). He himself has a lot of HP and has high melee migation. He doesn't hit incredibly hard though.
He summons non-elite adds throughout the fight that have low HP and can be killed in a few hits. They will build up if you don't kill them quickly though so assign one of your members to killing them when they spawn (Rogue or Hunter if you have one as they will deal less damage to Arch as a Mage or Warlock).
Get him down to 20% and he will spawn 4 elite adds. These do die when he dies though so have everyone quickly DPS him down (make sure your warrior goes into battle stance and spams execute for even more damage). Once he's dead go into the room behind him for the Disks of Norragon for a quest line that will get you a 14 Slot Bag and a chest with 2-3 greens.
Another strategy that makes this boss very easy (laughable, even) is to have a member of your party (hunter, preferably, but the tank will do fine if you don't have one) kite him down to one room below his own room. It is the room where the 4 elite stone watchers spawn that blow up when they die. Fighting him there, the non-elite adds will slowly trickle in, making them extremely easy to kill. Also, when he gets to 20%, as pointed out by Tupac he will summon 4 elite adds. In most cases, these will never make it downstairs before you kill him. Hope that helps :)
You need at least 3 people to summon him. Tested this so you can't boost only 1 person unless you boost with 2 people.
he should be doable with most groups if they play well.
we did him with only 4 players, and not very high lvl's either.
44 shammy (healer)
45 pala (add smacker)
44 mage (dps on boss)
the boss doesnt do much dmg, so i (shammy/healer) was healing both tank and pala. while doing dps on boss.
pala ran around smacking everything that came to life.
when 4 elites spawn. all focus hard dps on boss.
got in a few heals, that might occur in pulling elites and get smacked. but doesnt matter if one die.
anyway. didnt die and down he went.
very confident in our team, we went straight to Zul'Farrak and downed everything but the cave dude and we didnt have the mallet.
conclusion: lvl's help, good players make the difference =)
We went in with 2 lvl 40-50 players and 2 70's. We killed him before he could finish spawning the first set of non elite guys. However, when he went down the doors to the next room never opened.
Seems to be glitched if you kill him too fast.
Just (2007 July 17) killed him. i'm 43lvl hunter BM (EU Mazrigos-pvp), i was tanking him with my pet (cat-dps type) he doesnt hit much, like 250damage maybe more i was using mend pet regulary and priest heals pet as well, also we got mage, pala (retri) and warlock - all taken care of ads when me and my pet slowly bringing boss down. i used 2 times bestial wrath so all fight take smth between 4-5min.
pala me and pet had BoM on us (105 more damage or smth similiar)
all got 32 stamina from priest and all who need got int buff from mage.
no one was higher than 43lvl. all went smooth, only one dead (or two - dont remember). dropped rare +int ring.
Good luck to anyone who gonna face him (not that hard as he looks ;) )
WARNING TO ALL PLAYERS BEING RAN THE GUYS THIS GUY SPAWNS MUST FULLY SPAWN ALL THE LEVELS BEFORE U KILL HIM IF NOT DOORS WILL STAY CLOSED
-Big Guys on the Side
Hes an instance end boss making him much sronger than a normal elite of the same lvl.
down him with a low lvl group...he killed us one time...2time we put him down with no kills
i tank boss with my dudu in bear form 42 and the other(warr sham and mage)take the other adds
we have a very good priest on healing
4 manned him, was quite easy, and I highly recommend following Tupac's guide. He doesn't really hit hard, so as long as a warrior keeps aggro with a priest constantly keeping his health up, the battle is good as won. A good class to kill the adds would be hunters, their pets make excellent killers whilst the hunter himself can continue hitting the boss.
He is lvl 40 elite now. Was strangely disappointed when I took my 39 shadow priest into Uldaman today.
41 Frost Mage
41 Beast Hunter
40 Beast hunter
38 Combat Rogue
40 Holy Pally.
A neat tip: Have your healer stand on the little tablet you use to summon him. That way, the healer can't get attacked by him (some kind of glitch or something). However, the healer can still be hit by adds. Just focus on him. DPS his butt off, and you can take him down easily. Plus, he looks cool :D.
I love Archaedas, he's such an epic boss and i've downed him with a group of 41's. He's tricky but if you know how he works this fight can be done, though it certinly takes a while.
First thing to note is Archaedas has ALOT of hp, I do not reckomend going all out dps on him unless ur team is of high lvl (45+)
Seccond thing to note is that when Archaedas awakens the adds they seem to be immue to all dmg for 2 secconds, if you're tanking and he starts waking an add up go stand near it so you get the inital agro, healers should get as far away from the statue adds as possible.
At 50% hp Archaedas awakens the circle of non elites in the center. they do decent dmg but have next to no hp. Use challenging shout if its off cooldown and get all players (tank included if he has agro on arc secured) to stop fighting Archaedas and kill these adds asap, should only take a few secconds if everyone fights.
At 25% Archaedas awakens the two elite statues, they are best aggroed by the tank and ignored for the rest of the fight.
DPS this fight needs to be steady, and mana needs to be conserved as much as possible until Archaedas summons the two elite adds.
It's best to assign one dps to handel the adds, but be prepared to assist if they fall behind. Any adds left too long will heal Archaedas so don't forget about them, especialy duing the last phase.
I've had this fight last over 15 mintues on lower leveled groups, so long as your tank knows what he's doing and the group's fast to act on the adds, steayd dps at the start and saving their best for last this is possible with a low lvl group.
Also note that arcduis is very succeptable to demolising shout/roar, sheild block and disarm while tanking him. Greatly reduces his dmg.
Also there is no magical dmg in this fight so if you have a mge get them to amplify magic on the group before you start.
Best of luck :D
HMMM anyone know what level it is to enter Uldaman just curious my freind wants a boost but im not sure if hes to low for it?
He is sort of disappointingly easy now. We 4-manned him with 43 Enh Sham, 43 Rogue, 40 Lock, and 45 Resto Sham.
Started out having the Voidwalker tank the big guy, until the warlock pulled aggro and ended up tanking for most of the fight.
Just goes to show how weak he hits.
This boss is now 39lvl with the new patch And u can't kill the Lost Dwarves
Seems the consensus is right, he's been dumbed down a bit.
Managed to take him down today with no hassle at all with:
40 Survival Hunter
42 Arms Warr
36 Resto Shaman
40 Tankadin (myself)
May have been helped slightly by the fact that I'm fully Rare plate geared at 40 already :)
Unaralas, Darkspear EU
I'm looking for some help. I am doing an Uldaman quest - Restoring the Necklace. How do I get the Construct Archaedas (Ancient Stone Watcher) to spawn. I've been in there a half dozen times and can't get him to appear. I'm a level 66 warrior and intend to take him on by myself. That is if I can get him to show up for the fight.
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Managed to clear this entire instance with just 3 guys:
Lv36/37 Feral Specced & Geared Druid (Healer)
Lv44/45 Warrior (Tank)
We all lvled during this instance that's why it shows two levels ;)
Didnt really have a hard time on him with just three guys and two relatively low and a healer with tank/dps gear & feral in talents ;)
As long as you dont panic this instance is pretty easy to clear with just three guys.
How can you people brag about killing him if you had a level 70's help? Unless you kill him just with people in the level range, you didn't really defeat the boss imho
Alright, I just went with a group today...
40 Warrior Arms (Me) Tank - No plate.
Shaman was on the adds.
Me and the warrior was on Boss,
Paladin as healer.
Quite easy! But I died in the end :P
Umm, just keep killing the adds and make sure he goes down fairly quickly. When he summons the big ones, just focus out the boss, and then, The ENd! Get crappy ring =/
Just 3 manned him with Fury Warrior(myself) an Enhance Shaman and a Shadow Priest. The 2 melee were 41, with the priest at 38. Archaedus was still incredibly simple; we had the enhancement shaman kill the adds(easily killable in a second or two of auto attacks) while I tanked him in def stance with a shield. He hits for incredibly low amounts of damage; about 80 a hit. Priest still had 70% of his mana left. In retrospect, I would probably just go full berserker stance/dps til the 4 elites spawn, then tank up for them and let the enhance shaman finish the job.
We 4-manned Archaedas last night with:
a 36 Retribution pally
A 38 Protection/Retribution pally (me)
a 44 Fire mage
and a 42 Holy priest
the Secret to Archaedas when you get overrun by adds is that you have to burn all your cooldowns on him. our mage was using combustion, pyroblast, and all other fire spells as soon as they were ready. the result was the 36 pally died when we got him to 11%.
also, don't forget to use any AoE spells(consecration, arcane explosion, fire nova, etc.) when there are more than 4 attacking you.
must always aim boss first b4 hitting others.. its found in a chamber and the disc can also be found in a room after u killed the mighty lvl 40 elite archaedas.. good LUCK!
If you are a low level team(40-) you should kill boss as fast as you can or he summon more mobs to help him and when boss die they die too
Can't finish this instance for my achievement because I need 3 people... how on earth am I going to convince 2 others to come with me to the most boring instance ever :P
every other instance
- that's not true
UBRS - You cant solo summon elemental boss...
I honest to God just solo'd this place up to this guy, only to find out he can't be summoned with only one person. Boy I was p*ssed off.
Maybe next time.
46 Prot Warrior with 3,700HP
with how many man you can summon him?
he drops nice stuff, well, the ring is good for everyone, and the weapons are the most for warrior, but the rockpounder is good for hunters to, if you look the +28 crit rating
Confirmed...As of 3.0.8 Can be Solo summoned
I agree with cheerfull; it is confirmed! I ran through this morning with only one other player and was able to solo summon him!
41 Protpally (Kaliki)
42 Retadin (Bhulge) (I think)
42 Feral/Resto Druid (Magwind) (I think)
We pwned him. The only problems came when I, as the tank, got a little 'these guys are trash' and ran ahead a few times. Once we wiped on a big ole 14 add Trogg storm (We wanted to do that, tho.) And a Trigger happy tank running a bit ahead of the group and getting Pwned.
The only boss that was even REMOTELY challenging was the Ancient Stone thing - The Harsh Winds ripped us up.
But, as for THIS boss?
He's PATHETIC now. Level 40 something elite with 20k health? Child's play. I held aggro the entire fight, and me and the Ret-a-din popped Concecrations on the enemies he added - they dropped in 2 ticks, nearly. The boss himself was easy prey with Holy Shield + Seal of Wisdom, Judge of Wisdom.
Deadmines is harder than this.
A Fiveman could take this at 38, no problem. Just remember.
Let the Tankadin Tank. Let the Healers Heal, and let the Dps do his job.
Basically? He's a Tankandspank.
We had a similar problem but I'm not sure how/why it happened. An 80 holy priest and a 40 warrior tried to run through it but never could even face the big boss. We cleared everyone in the room, activated the seal in the middle, and killed off the four big guys but nothing happened. After reading the hints on this site, I thought it was because we killed him too fast. So, we came back after resetting the instance, and I shielded the warrior (with my priest bubble) while he killed them. The door in the back opened, but other than that...nothing.
Confirmed. I just soloed this on my 80 destro 'lock. Killed the 4 big guys, the doors opened, cleaned up some trash and then made my way down and summoned the boss. Easy kill. no adds spawned, the back doors opened, and I picked up the discs, too.
No longer requires 3 to summon. Do not mistake the upstairs room as his chamber. Use first alter to open door, then go down a level, you'll see the boss with another alter in front of him.
i just finished uldaman yesterday and i did it with a lvl 38draenei warrior(me),lvl 40human paladin,lvl 44night elf rouge,lvl 37human priest and a lvl 36dwarf hunter.
anyway.we downed Archaedas pretty easely as any other boss and npc in that instance so you dont need a high lvl group to finish uldaman
Was able to solo as a 46 Prot Warrior- took about 3 hours and end fight was extremely hard. Just focused on him the whole time while spamming Thunderclap as soon as he called his other weak minions. Right before he called in his 4 elites I used a Frostweave Bandaid and just went all out.
hunters if you have track humanoids on do not tell your group that there are swarms of mobs being shown on your minimap and get really freaked out they are just stone and dont attack you unless archihides is on low health
Soloed today as a 44 heirloom geared Retribution paladin. The Judgments of the Wise talent is absolutely crucial for healing and keeping up consecration for the adds. The two elite adds despawn once the boss is down, so focus your efforts on him. Exorcism and hammer of wrath are your best friends.
The whole instance is really easy, cleared the whole thing 2 man today. lvl 40 druid and 42 priest!
HOW do you summon him? I soloed it, I'm at the altar, everyone's dead... and I click on the altar but nothing happens. What am I missing?
seems to have same voice actor with ragnaros, or then the lines are so similar. defend your master!
to open de door that lead to his chamber, i need to activate the altar on the room above his? and that altar above his is the one that u need 2 ppl to activate?
Hello im Dooberknight i went into there and i got pawned im 70 so i would take 1 hunter 1 preast a warror palliden and a higher level to help kill him fast yes i know i am bad at spelling
Reading through these comments made me worried to solo this boss, dooberknight saying he got pwned at lvl 70 just 10 days ago..
despite the warnings I summoned Archaedas and he was way easy. I solo'd him as a level 52 arms Warrior, didn't even need to use a potion!
Don't stress this boss, he's easy =)
I don't know about the people posting but I've managed to 3-man every instance I've done from Vc clear up thru Gnomeregan and all of SM; to now Uldaman. Old content is too easy with the new talents and paladins are just OP. I prefer to
instances instead of
, not as fun :P
-Any aoe dps class.
Greatly nerfed, before it took a group of 42s or so to take this guy down.
Not too hard to beat now. Just engage him, and when the first wave of adds spawn have your tank grab threat on all of them like crazy then have at it with AoE spells (I was a bear using swipe and had a moonkin using Hurricane). Once those adds are dead, he will spawn another wave of elites. Rather than take these guys out, burn down Archaedes until he dies and the elites will despawn.
Not too tough. Just have your tank on Arch, when the first major wave of adds come burn them down, then when the second wave of elites come ignore them and take out the boss, which will despawn the adds.
I don't remember the exact numbers on this guy... but when he has summoned ALL of the small guys, as well as the large ones, he will finally go into a hard-mode enrage, wiping everything... even you! .. or not.
Anyways, a 150% damage buff and 70% attack speed buff is quite deadly.. Not like you'll ever see that with a normal group though.
apparently he wasnt wearing pants!
Archaedas' Lost Legplates
Today, 21/23/09, with my paladin dwarf tank (lvl 47) i've soloed this boss :D.
My secret was to use the spell of the talents of retribution named "Repentance" which incapacite Archaedas for 1 min, and there i could regenerate mana.
Server: WoW Core
I leave a screenshot, check it out.
Not sure which patch is was, but in addition to him being solo able because of the change to the altar, it appears his level has been reduced to make Uldaman fit better with the new dungeon finder system. He is now level 40, and I feel like he used to be much higher level, possibly 47 in the earlier days.
Ran in there with a lvl 80 and my 37 pally downed everything in about 2 hits boss was easy took him down by myself the 80 killed everything that came to life
That is a LOT of health for a lv40
I mean srsly, he has more health than some lv80's (depending on class)
I did a stupid thing while doing some quests in ulda for some rep: I killed the boss right after the last mob was down. I killed all for more loot and more cloths, only... when I saw the finishing spell land, he was summoning another boss, some keeper of some sort... Didn't finish the summon so if you go there, try and w8 for all mobs to be down on that room and see if another mini-boss is summoned, because that's what it looks he was doing... If I ever go back there and try again, I'll update this post.
Edit: seeing his abilities, he was casting "Awaken Vault Warder"; didn't get to see what comes out of it though... :(
Edit: this is the mob that spawns
Just soloed this guy as a 41 protection warrior, fairly easy if you know what your doing. Keep Rend, Thunderclap, and 3 stacks of the sunder effect from Devastate up, and try to time your Thunderclaps to go off when he summons his adds. The adds have a fairly low HP pool, and the Thunderclap combined with a tick from rend (assuming you talented into Blood and Thunder) is enough to kill then and activate Victory rush. The easiest boss in the entire instance to solo as a warrior IMO
Voiced by Chris Metzen, Head of Creative Development at Blizzard Entertainment.
Soloed as a level 39 combat rogue, just keep recuperate up (5 CP), when an add pop kill him in autoattack and keep your combos on the boss, when he pops all non elite adds, evasion, use a 2 Combo slide and dice, blade flurry keep hitting the boss they will eventually all die (except one maybe sometimes), when he pops the 2 elites the boss should be almost dead so keep dpsing him down, dont worry about them.
The trash from the room with 4 stone elites, is actually harder than the boss.
I'm pretty sure after he got a voice in 4.0.1 that his dubber is Chris Metzen :)
Soloed the whole thing as a lvl 59 Blood Death Knight. It was very close, but I survived.
I personally think he is one if the best vanilla models. Together with his voice he is pretty impressive for a group of gearing up-players in the 40's.
I can confirm, you do not need friends to summon this dude,as I am in the instance as of this moment and just took him out as a 90 lock
Potential lore spoilers below! I've been reading the Warcraft Chronicle that Blizzard brought out this year, and Archaedas has had a lot more of his background lore elaborated on - and slightly retconned - which I've found really interesting. It hasn't yet been revealed in-game as far as I can see, so continue at your own peril!
This guy was one of the Keepers created by the Titan Pantheon to battle the Old Gods and then to help them reorder Azeroth and seed it with life, along with Thorim, Freya, Tyr, Loken and the others. He helped imprison Therazane the Stonemother, and later fled Ulduar with the Discs of Norgannon along with Tyr and Ironaya after Yogg-Saron overthrew the rest of the Keepers, eventually sealing himself and the Discs away in Uldaman after the death of Tyr.
This guy has seen the dawn of life on Azeroth, battled with and alongside powers beyond our imagining, fighting the Old Gods and their forces at the peak of their power and living through it. And he gets killed by five bumbling mid-level adventurers who stumbled into his vaults looking for phat lewts. Makes you feel like a bit of a ^&*! in hindsight.
For those who have problem finding him:
Opem map, at the most northern part u see a big circle "Hall of the Crafters"
When I first tried clicking on the upstairs altar in Hall of the Crafters (to start the fight with the 4 Stone Keepers), it didn't work. But when I tried again after a couple minutes it worked as expected.
