Final boss in the Nexus.
After killing the other 3 bosses (in random order) the three orbs arround him can be used to free him.
Boss has 2 abilities:
- A debuff that stacks which does frostdamage and slows attackspeed. The debuff is removed if you move.
- Random shackles people in place, magic so can probably be removed.
Can't say more as the server lagged and crashed just as we started him.
Tactic we planned (after stuck at loadscreen for 15min we gave up tho so untested):
Tank turns the Boss clockwise, melee moves same way keeping at its side. Ranged need to move aswell but can probably sidestep a bit to remove the debuff as can the healer.
Tailsweep goes pretty far back so stay on the sides. Keep moving and he is easy.
This Boss also does an enrage at 10 or 15%. increases the boss' attack power by 73 and attack speed by 25%.
Very easy if you keep moving. As a paladin tank all i did was sidestep continually, as did melee / ranged, healer included. Very easy fight but quite fun nonetheless
You can also remove the debuff by jumping. Healers will have to heal->jump->heal->jump etc. As a druid tanking I just kept jumping while doing my regular stuff. I think the enrage is a little earlier than 15% now. Maybe 25.
I did this as MS dps spec, and yeah it's pretty much as ncoffey says. Melee can remove the debuff just by jumping, and staying at her sides makes the tailswipe a non-issue. Makes tanking the boss easier than having to move in circles as a group.
In case someone is interested:
: Preserve? Why? There's no truth in it! No, no, no... *laughs* Only in the taking. I see that now.
: Stay! Enjoy your final moments.
: Dragon Queen... Life-binder... preserve me...
: Finish it! FINISH IT! Kill me or I swear by the Dragon Queen you'll never see daylight again.
: Now we've come to the truth!
On heroic, she does frost nova for 8 seconds, and during that time you can't move - so you take all her frost-aura-ish damage during that time, but that is not much of a damage: 300ish per stack each 2 seconds*(1+2+3+4)=3kish damage, and if you dispel it is even less.
To avoid tailsweep, nobody should do it from behind; to avoid her breath, nobody except tank should stand in front of her; to avoid aoe slow+damage, you should always keep moving/jumping(since jumping costs a fixed time to land, the classes like mage or palading that have to cast non-instant spells should move a bit instead of jump to increase efficiency), and dispel the frost nova if you have time. This is all strategy you need to down her on Heroic Nexus.
I find it strange that she is a red dragon. Since the red dragons are leading the war against the blue dragon flight.
Possible corruption involved?
It seems pretty clear from what she says that she's gone insane.
Keristrasza is frozen
in ice at the beginning of the instance. There are three orbs near her that are clickable. Once the area is clear of any patrols, click on the orbs and she will be released. Make sure the tank picks her up right away and keeps her parallel to the rest of the group. She has a
that does frostfire damage and slows attacks, and has a stackable debuff called
that can stack up to nine times. Crystalfire Breath can be dispelled, and to prevent Intense Cold from stacking, all you have to do is move and it removes the debuff. Any movement clears the debuff so all casters can either strafe one step or jump after a cast or two. Melee and the tank must keep close watch on their debuff and move a little to clear it. Make sure there is someone in the party that can either dispel or cleanse so that they will be able to remove Crystal Chains. It will keep the targeted party member rooted for ten seconds and prevent them from clearing their Intense Cold debuff. Make sure to stand off so that you are facing her side so that you do not get tail swept or are hit with Crystalfire Breath.
This is a fairly straightfoward fight, just remember the following:
Always jump or move around to remove the stacking damage debuff on you.
If you are frozen in place and have the debuff stacking on you, this can be removed via pvp trinket.
Melee DPS do not stand behind her or she will knock you back about 20 yards.
She hit's pretty hard and fast, I recommend warrior tank's should use shield wall when she enters a frenzy, around 25% HP or so.
Tip for warlocks: Felhunters can use Devour Magic on the
Edit: Added link
So We read all the comments and figured this strategy was the best. Our tank pulled him against a wall to avoid the knock back, once he had aggro he could stand still the entire time while our healer concentrated only on him. The dps flanked his sides to avoid the breath and tail and just kept strafing and/or jumping...it worked PERFECT, after 4 whipes prior to this we didn't even have one close call doing it this way.
We wiped on her the first time trying to run. Then the second time we literally just jumped in one spot while fighting, and took her down with everyone at full HP at the end.
easy way to kill her
most easy part is have a
dispel or pvp trinket for chains
make tank face the
of her to rest of party to prevent tail sweep and breath
do keep you feet moving or she freeze you that gradually get worst every sec, just move 2 yards and its gone but keep moving whole fight EVEN tank
EDIT: just jump up and down help to prevent cold feets
Did this without any help or knowledge last night. We wiped once on the first try. Second try we were calling out who was chained so the healer could concentrate heals, since you are stuck in place. On the first run I was actually chained about 3 times in a row, so she might stack the chains on one person.
You can break the chains when healed. We had our healer run clockwise around the room, when someone called out," chained" (think Illhoof) he would heal us. As soon as you get healed, the chains break.
:D a little heroic story:
Tank died, DPS died, I was left alone with 1% left....... some old school moonfire spam and running around (and 2 lucky dodges :D) and i downed him myself (tree).
Point was.... I was chained alot... i mean like 6 or 7 times. Even caught up in the tail sweep and out of range.
I will try the tip of healing to disspell myself. Didn t know that. Rejuve for anti shackle on myself should make it cake.
Managed this on the 1st try last night. You are right the key is to keep moving to avoid the Frost aura damage.
As a mage, if you get caught in the chains Blink out and frost ward will help avoid this. Instant cast spells will help you big time here as staying in place=damage. Ice Barrier wears off fairly quickly, so use it to get of a nuke or 3 (at 70) but that's about it. Dispel the chains on healer ASAP and the group will fair better.
A priest in my guild was able to solo this boss by keeping shadow word pain on her while running in circles around the complex. Anytime she would cast chains of ice on him he would just dispel it. It took him about 10 min in total altogether.
Long story short is she's pretty slow; like slower than normal walking speed so if you can dispel she's easy to kite.
I just did her*, rather, today as the healer. Most of the strat stated above is completely correct. From what I can predict, she is the corrupted form of a good dragon in Coldarra, and she is frozen the instant you enter the instance. Must kill all other bosses to be able to engage her.
continue moving around at all costs, even if it means sidestepping until you're seasick.
Avoid attacking the boss from the direct front or back as melee dps, for she does have a tail swipe and fire breath.
And try and keep heavy dps up, even if I was healing the best tank on the server, she deals a lot of damage and if you can't get heals off to compete with the amount of damage she is taking, there is no way that your group can succeed. But good luck, it's a very fun fight, plus the boss sounds surprisingly human-like. I have no idea why.
Edit: In heroic mode, if not obvious already, if you prevent the buff from stacking more than twice on yourself, you'll get an achievement.
There's a small lore story about how she ended up being the last boss in the nexus.
You get the hole story about it by doing the q line that starts with
in Borean Tundra.
I wont say anymore about her story, as the q line is telling it all and all should have a chance to do it.
a simple tip: never stand behind her! or she'll do her tail lash that "kills" everyone behind her
Here's a well known macro for druids, but a lot of people don't think about using it in ToL form.
If you are healing this, and you find yourself shackled use it so you can keep moving around and not get the debuff stacked on you.
/cast !Dire Bear
/cast !Aquatic Form
/cast !Cat form
/cast !Travel Form
/cast !Tree of Life
PS: Remember that it burns mana, so try not over do it, also before you start the boss make sure that everyone has a way to get out of the shackle, because as soon as someone gets shackled they will take alot of damage. (Trinket, Blink, Dispelling Priest, Ice block, bubble, anything that will get you out of a normal snare will work (atleast for normal)
And please, i cant stress this enough, make
you tell the party to move after each cast. And have the tank jump up in down, because once he gets an 8 stack or so, you are going to have a hard time keeping him healed and still heal whatever damage your party takes.
People never realize that the debuff does damage as well as slows casting time.
Grounding Totem will intercept Cains of Ice as well.
Healers will have to heal->jump->heal->jump etc.
Casters should never jump to interupt buffs or spell casting.
Side stepping is better, or a 'stopcasting' keybind is even better for interupting your current cast
We had a tank that insisted on moving this guy around in a circle to keep everyone moving and out of the Intense Cold. It ended up making it 10x more difficult b/c we had 2 melee dps and weren't able to stay on his side the whole time. The healer ended up running around like mad trying to keep heals on the dps that were getting thrown back into the walls.
Just explain to everyone to look for the Intense Cold and move - tanking this guy in a circle is a pain.
I've tanked her from levels 70-72 and she's not bad at all. I am a Deep frost build, but it should be pretty easy for DK's to hold aggro. She is NOT immune to frost, so for those with the Icy Talons talent, don't panic. It's only the melee attack speed reduction that she's immune to.
Use your basic rotation for single target aggro, you will have absolutely no problem holding it. If you group is of level (70's-72's) I suggest using your Icebound Fortitude and Anti-Magic Shell very early in the fight because they should be back up in time for the enrage when your healer will appreciate them.
Your healer may also appreciate you poping Lichborne and using your extra RP on Death Coils to heal yourself a bit just before the 25% enrage.
Use what techniques have been suggested above. Jump, do not move otherwise the boss placement will mess up and you'll tail whip someone.
The pre-quest, which explains the red dragon's presence in a blue dragon enclave, is very easy. Keristrasza lures Malygos outside his sanctum by setting his favorite consort's (Saragosa) corpse (which you conveniently have tricked and killed earlier) on fire. The moment the Lord of Magic appears outside to gaze on what is left of his consort, numerous red dragons begin swarming him and attacking him with fireballs ( which have dissappointingly no effect on him). In his rage, he forces Keristrasza to become his consort, as a replacement for Saragosa.
Quote from Arduanne : "We have to kill her in order to keep her from being raped". Pretty much explains what we gotta do =]
The final quest of this quest line is
Prisoner of War
, the task is to release Keristrasza from her suffering.
just did it with a fresh dinge 80 group in heroic. tip on her, bring a hunter to tranq shot her enrage. works like a charm!
is also a good idear.
hmm for heroic mode when she touch 25% and enrage paladin tank can use divine protection which reduce 50% damage taken (not dropping your threat tested) or can use divine shield then straight away taunt the target that she chase and she will be back to paladin tank. hope this helps
i find the best way to do this fight is to have the tank jump in one spot and dps/heals to stay at sides and jump when they get debuff. no real need for the moveing around
gnomes can use escape artist to break the chains as well
A few things i noticed when i did this boss with my arc mage
1) she can be affected with slow
2) I was able to use the debuff to my advantage by throwing up mana shield and using the damage to boost my spell power thanx to incanter's absorption
other then that i mostly just hopped back and forth spamming arcane barrage, keeping slow on her and AP/Pom Fireball when i felt the tank had enough aggro
and for gnomes, you can racial out of the trap she puts you in to
Does anyone have the scripts to get her different voice files out ingame?
Quick tip for druids healing or DPSing in Moonkin form on Heroic: when she uses Frost Nova, shift out of Tree of Life / Moonkin and back in to help prevent damage from the debuff and keep you mobile.
Hunters, be aware that you have to keep your pet moving throughout this as well, or they will quickly build up debuff stacks and bite the dust.
I found it helpful to keep my cursor hovering over the Passive button, then hit it every time I jumped. With my steady-shot macro, the pet gets sent straight back in as soon as I start casting again.
With a 1.5 SS cast speed, I can squeeze off 2 SS as I hit 2 debuff stacks, hop and hit Passive, then SS and send the pet back in, rinse and repeat.
H mode is a bit nastier because of the roots. Master's Call comes in handy here.
Pretty nasty fight on heroic. Definitely have to watch out for her frost nova with the stacking debuff. Other than that as a tank I saved my CD's for the enrage part and everything worked fine.
SPOILERS FOR THE QUEST LINE IF ANYONE CARES
I never even considered that she would be raped, but in retrospect, it does seem like a possibility - if a little heavy. I only actually took it as a possibility when I saw the description of her heart:
A tragic end to a sad tale. If only
Malygos's abuse of Keristrasza hadn't driven her insane.
I assumed until this point that when Malygos took her, he was going to torture and break her into becoming his consort (Honestly, I'd never considered what this meant for Dragons since they live a long-ass time. I imagine it involves mostly kissing and cuddling though considering how many young dragons there are (I'm sure they're not
from their respective Broodmothers...Especially the black ones now that y'know...)).
So, opinion time. Was Keristrasza raped, tortured or both?
Anyone (sick?) enough to wonder how it's physically possible for Malygos to rape her? She doesn't even remotely compare size-wise when you see them side by side after that quest. Ouch...
Tanks should make sure your mitigation/healing/etc. cooldowns are ready to pop once she hits 25%. Her frenzy hurts. I tanked this as a 74 feral druid with about 20k HP and 10k armor in bear buffed up, and with a 70 holy priest healing me. Not too bad but after a few wipes, we worked out fine when I blew barkskin, frenzied regen and survival instincts all together for those last 10-15 seconds.
I don't know if someone already have told this, but if you're a mage you can use Ice Block to get out of her attack that freeze you to the place...
Hunter definately recommended, I was getting hit for 9-10k during enrage as a death knight, it is healable but just barely. Also this is the only boss that has got any sympathy from me, poor poor Keristrasza.
If you don't have people who can insta-cast or a hunter/rogue who can dispel the enrage, this will be an extremely hard fight. The chains are a bit annoying but can be gotten out of through various methods already described earlier in this thread. The Enrage is the worst part. As a tank, be prepared to take 10k+ hits very quickly. If it can't be dispelled, prepare to wipe or use various tricks at your disposal for taking massive damage in short order such as Shield Wall or as I've just learned, possibly Divine Protection. It can't be HOT'd through, your health bar will look like a rogue's energy bar.
BIG ROGUE TIP FOR HEROIC ENRAGE!
This enrage kept wiping our gorup but anistthic poison..that dispels a enrage effect works!
damn keristrasza a big fukin @#$%
she was originally lesbian lover of alextrasza but now shes being happily fuked by malygos...
I prefer not having a pala as healer, against this boss.
Protip for casters:
Do not jump! It seems easy and quick but only for melee or when you use many instants. Jump, middle air and fall take much more time than single push forward or backward. It is very important for healers (especially shamans and paladins) when all fancy instant casts are on cooldown and every delay between casts counts against you.
Recently tanking this on heroic i have been getting the tail swipe (from in front obviously). Im not sure if this is a bug or if im doing something wrong but i tanked this plenty of times pre patch 3.0.8 with no trouble, and from what i can tell its only on heroic. Has this happened to anyone else?
she is beyond kitable for a mage. our mage kited her while everyone else ran back then we killed her funniest thing ya ever done seen
Confirmed. The enrage on heroic is brutal. She hits really hard, and really fast, and doesn't stop her other abilities.
If you don't have a hunter or a rogue to dispel it, there's only one way to beat it. Save up all cooldowns (damage-dealing, healing, trinkets, survival abilities...everything). Save mana, rage, energy, runic power.... When she shouts at you to "finish it" (at somewhere around 20% health), well...do that. Blow absolutely everything at once, because you only have a few seconds left to live.
On another note, she has runes carved into her sides, which are probably an effort to control her. She doesn't have the runes when you see her outside. The effort has clearly not been successful, given that Malygos had to resort to packing her into a block of ice. The runes are probably what has driven her mad.
warlock demonic circle seems to be affected by the shackles... or I just kept getting lucky and tped when shackled then was immediatly shackled again.
Is there any chance that "earthbird totem" with the talent of earthen power which remove snare effects when pulse can remove the spell that makes you unable to move ?
I'm stupid for not realizing this early, but as a Human Death Knight Tank, I can pretty much avoid all the
she throws at me by using
Every Man for Himself
on the first chain, and then
on the second casting.
With average DPS, I only take two
She sounds hot when she enrages
"Finish it! Finish it!"
I dunno why
I feel sorry for the Red Dragonflight. First ol'
and now Keristrasza.
Though I'm guessing Nef didn't sexually abuse Vael. Maybe.
The best way I have found to tank this boss is this:
I am a DK Tank,
Pull her to a wall. Jump in place to prevent the debuff to stack on you. Being against the wall prevents her flame attack from hitting anyone else in the group, it also prevents her from sending you flying across the room.
DPS Stay to the side of her. Jump in place or move back and forth as you see fit.
Stay away from her tail so you do not get thrown across the room.
When she hits 25% she will go into a rage. Use Icebound Fortitude to prevent her from going crazy on you. (She will yell "Finish It")
With this style of tanking her I have not wiped yet. It is nice, easy, and easy for a healer to keep the party healed and tank alive.
Maybe I've just had $%^&ty groups but she seems to drop aggro, my omen said the tank had a ton of aggro but somehow the healer kept pulling so idk. Spent an hour + couldn't kill the boss. Course I had to teach the tank how to tank with their class.
isn't to hard... just jump all the time
I put on Anesthetic Poison (sorry I don't know how to link abilities) before the fight. My party stood puzzled at the end of the fight.
"Wasn't she supposed to enrage?"
"That was easier than usual..."
Little did they know my poison had dispelled her enrage!
Rogues can dispel her enrage with Anesthetic Poison.
Im a hunter and its probely hard to do Dps when some of my ability have timed spell cast, and how can i keep my pet alive when it take 876 frost damage every sek? And trust me you wont try to stand and just shoot, if you are unlucky it can bind you and do morer forst damage, i hobe you guys got a tipe for me! :)
Age isn't always equal to diminished power for dragons...
As for the question, she practically begs you to kill her. I'd say torture and mind control, with the ultimate intent to... yeah.
Of course, she was already off the deep end when we met her that last time so it's hard to tell whether or not it was 'consensual' or consented to because of her madness or if 'it' even happened.
Not the first attempt of such violation in lore -either; during the second war Alexstrasza was pretty much kept by the Dragonmaw orcs as a laying machine for red dragons. During that time, Deathwing (leader of the Black Dragonflight) planned to do to her pretty much what Malygos ended up doing to poor Keri. *winces* Thankfully he failed.
She was a likeable quest-giver who went from one tragedy (imprisonment) to the next (torture, insanity). During the quest where she's captured, her in-game dialogue indicates that she really cared for the heroes' welfare. Really sad. To make matters worse, it seems from a tiny dialogue snippet that she
it was going to be a suicide mission:
...we will likely only delay his plans with this diversion.
What did I mean by caring about the heroes' welfare? Examples:
I was destined to spend an eternity roaming an empty abyss, and now am saved? You cannot fathom my gratitude, mortal...
...Should I live one hundred of your lifetimes, I shall not forget this kindness.
Aldaneron! I've been wondering how you were. What's kept you?
It is truly a pleasure to see you again, Aldaneron.
When our duty here is behind us, I'll find a way to repay you for this rescue.
In times such as these, dear friends are invaluable.
Be safe, Aldaneron. As safe as one can be in a place like this...
I trust you're taking every precaution...
This is a dangerous place and I couldn't forgive myself if something were to happen to you.
And the big moment at the end:
Stay close to me Aldaneron. I could not bear for any harm to come to you.
but never before Keri has a
made me want to join her for a candlelit dinner with champagne in front of a fireplace in a cabin up in Winterspring.
...but, of course, we had to.. had to.. :'(
EDIT: Edited this thing so many times and still missed that dumb grammatical error.
EDIT 2: Dialogue samples and drama/melodrama added.
She is now Skinnable as of 3.1.
could some one please tell us about what dmg he makes on heroic mode? .. like the average.. so we know..
This just goes to show you what a sick and twisted bastard Malygos has become.
He's sexist! He doesn't believe that female dragons should have such large horns or a beard! In his torture of her, he shaved her dragon form sometime after being captured and then filed down her horns!
Don't believe me? Compare her Nexus model to her
I managed to find her sound files. Copy+paste these commands to your WoW chatbox to activate them.
"Preserve? Why? There's no truth in it. No no no... only in the taking! I see that now!"
"Stay. Enjoy your final moments."
"Now we've come to the truth!"
"Finish it! Finish it! Kill me, or I swear by the Dragonqueen you'll never see daylight again!
"Dragonqueen... Life-Binder... preserve... me."
all i did was use beacon of light on the tank then for the most part stand still and let the buffs stack on me and heal myself, i was able to heal myself which healed the tank and i only moved about every 10 stacks of the debuff
Encounter on normal dif for pally tanks newcomers to Nexus: Its tank and spank based fight if ur group is able to handle the IC debuff. I, as pally tank was jumpin on the place whole encounter. Every ability I use for threat generation except excorcism is aviable when jumping and I get almost no damage from debuff. Dps and healers have to move between casts and swipes. Only problem that almost wiped us first time was, that after enrage, she almost killed me, cuz running priest wasnt able to heal me thru dmg for a moment (my eq consists of green q rewards from Northrend qsts and few normal difficulty blue Outland drops). Solution is let Ardent Defender proc and then LoH. This gives ur party time to nuke dragon down. :)
WTB /command sounds?
read the spells for Keristrasza.
"At 25%, Keristrasza enrages, increasing
damage done by 10% and
attack speed by 30%"
her and his in the same sentence, yet its been proven Keristrasza is female.
read the spells she casts...
At 25%, Keristrasza enrages, increasing her damage done by 10% and his attack speed by 30%
look at it closely... do you see it?
At 25%, Keristrasza enrages, increasing
damage done by 10% and
attack speed by 30%
Nice wowhead fail.
I recently did a nexus run and it reminded me how sexy and cool the voice acting is for her. :O
More generally, how a good voice AND quotes can really add to and enhance significantly the boss fight experience.
Just wondering incase anyone knows, which dragon flight dose this boss belong to? You would think It'd be the blue but she looks pink, lol
I always feel bad fighting her. You go from ally, to executioner. Definitely provides some motivation for Eye of Eternity though. One of the more tragic boss battles IMO.
I felt so bad killing her on my first toon.
Malygos is gonna pay...
I love her voice....probily my favorite boss voice in the game
Why is everyone so sad? You end a big threat to Northrend....besides, I liked hearing her scream becuase of me >.>
Hunters! Hear me! Only stop for one Steady Shot and other ability before moving. The GCD time of anything else will cost you time and more stacks of Intense Cold to the point of being stuck in place for 7 seconds. Unless you havae a good healer, this will kill you. Maintaining a steady huge DPS is not important for this fight.
They might want to add "Arctic Fur" to "Skinning" because I got 1x.
Malygos really needs to give up consort hunting for awhile. He's already lost three, and I've reasons to believe he may have been involved with Onyxia (cough cough, Twilights). Could it be his weakness perhaps?...
Gnomes: you can escape
we did this today 3 ppl with the add in the room at the same time
, something strange happend
a Doomguard appered when she was almoast dead.. very strange anyone else seen this?
Nexus was my first run as balance for long time, and i surprised for my dps there :) it was better than i thought it would be on its best =P
this boss is pain in da ass for casters, becouse you move one inch after every (two) spellcast. this makes healers job easier :)
but no1 died during the fight so everybody knew the tacts :) usually there is always some idiot who stand still and keep stacking debuff for 9999999... when fighting her in heroic, you dont need to move so much becouse dmg and heals are so powerful.
This maybe nice for you to know about her story. I just did a questline yesterday about it. As some already said she comes from the red dragonflight. And yes, she was coruppted by Malygos. Well in this questline you find out why. First you make a quest in coldarra of Raelorasz. After it he give's you something that's called Augumented prison core or something. In it Keristrasza is captured. I dont know why tho. She starts a questline and in it somewhere in the middle you kill a woman from the blue dragonflight who's name is Saragosa. Keristrasza said that it is a high threat from the blue dragonflight because she's Malygos advisor or something like that. Later in the questline you lure out malygos from his hideout. He goes mad when finds out that Keristrasza killed Saragosa and then he says: " You shall take her place" and then they disappeard. Both of them. Then you go back to Raelorasz and tells him what happened. Then he says that you shall kill her so she can rest in peace. Then he gives you the final quest. And that's why she is frozen where she is, in The nexus.
It was nice to do this so i could find out why she's there. If you dont understand so much of what i have said then you can do the questline yourself. It's worth it. :)
Requires 455 skinning to skin her in the current patch it seems :s (Heroic of course)

It's so sexy the way she says "no, no, no"
What a cutie pie. I wonder if she would be open to dating a warlock. Anyone have her cell #? ;)
Damn, I wish they made a mount looking like her...
Getting this boss unfrozen had me stuck for a long time. Long story short:
You have to kill the three other bosses (not including the horde guy) and all of the patrols. Each of the three bosses corresponds to an orb. Click all three orbs and then the boss will unfreeze.
DPS down in 2 seconds, get loads of achievements.
I was very confused on how to "un-freeze"
First you must kill the 3 main bosses
. Then go to the area where Keristrasza is encased in ice. There are 3 "glowing-glassing" looking orbs around her. Click once on each these orbs. Now she is unfrozen and you can kill her in order to complete this instance.
I cried and mourned.
