These guys drop the
They are imune to fire so it took me 50 very long kills as a fire mage to get the recipe
Be careful with the 70 and 71 elites that patrols the area, but there isn't any danger if you watch your back always
You need a flying mount to get there.
I think the FIRST question is ... What type of damage do these horrid things do, and how easy are they to kill?
Killed 2 fairly swiftly, they deal fire damage, and drop huge exploding rocks on you.
This area seems largely unexplored as yet ... noted 1 herb, and a fair number of above lvl70 mobs, some elite. Killed Terror(whatshisface) fairly easily actually
The Abyssal Flamebringers seem to start spawning around the area of 26.9:78.7 and then off to the east of this point.
Some notes on farming this area:
There seem to be 7 spawns total, 3 at the northern end, 2 in the middle, and 2 near the southern part of the area.
They have an attack called abyssal strike which takes 3sec(?) to cast and does about 800 damage(I haven't bothered trying to silence this, but I'm going to assume it can't be). They hit a shadow priest w/ inner fire up for about 2-300, and have a fire based aura which does around 150 a tick. Roughly 8k hitpoints.
My damage is personally terrible(+450dmg) but I'm having little to no difficulty killing them. What does slow you down obviously is the fairly large amount of damage done for a non-elite mob. The spawnrate is pretty fast(a rogue working the area currently same time as me and we seem to have no downtime; we're just both circling and killing them seperately).
This area is also relatively close to Sylvanaar, so dumping your bags isn't a hassle either(I set my hearth there), but of course make sure you come here with plenty of food/water/empty bag slots. Currenly on kill #123 and no recipe as of yet.
Seems they changed this up a bit.
I found 4 spawns in the south, 2 on the east side, 2 on the west, and 5 in the in the north. They were hitting for about the same amounts as already posted, but they usually have over 9k life.
As a shaman I never had to worry about the Abyssal Strike since I was earthshocking anyway. If you find yourself getting hit by the aura then just take a step back. Just like the mobs in Arcatraz the fire aura will only hit you if you are considered underneath them.
The respawn time is great, just like with the Shadow recipe drop, so thats not a problem. However, I'm closing in on 3 hours of farming and I haven't seen the recipe yet.
Changed again by the look of things. They now dont drop netherweave or shadow motes. Farmed these about 10/May/2007 and got about 15 primal shadow, 50 bolts of netherweave and 1 holy protection potion recipe. Now, 26/May/2007, (post 2.1.0) these guys drop motes of fire, Apexis Shards, and Depleted Crystal Focus...
Seems to be a new bug with these this patch (2.1.2). If you don't click on them as they're in the dieing animation to bring up the loot window, you won't be able to loot them, but you'll still see the sparkles. It looks like the graphic for their corpse is missing.
Have to click on them while they're dieing to be able to loot them.
The corpses are also used for the new daily cooking quests in patch 2.3.
Also, you don't have to kill them, you can use a corpse thats been killed by someone else.
If you're here, than you either:
a) Want to check droprate of
Recipe: Major Holy Protection Potion
b) Want to check location so you can cook
Demon Broiled Surprise
You don't need to loot these demons to be able to complete the daily quest "Super Hot Stew"
These are Enslavable by Warlocks, and when enslaved come with one castable ability, a single-target fire spell that hits for around 800 damage and has a graphic that looks like an orange version of the spell Inferno. Like all Infernals and Abyssals these have a PBAoE fire damage aura that does mediocre damage, and their melee damage is also very low.
In spite of their low damage potential... they're Abyssals, that's enough reason to enslave one at least once.
quick note if flying this area shoots you down i was un-prepared
where can i get the Talbuk Bow! (besides AH, maybe with a higher drop rate)
Picked this up today from killing Abyssal Flamebringer fairly easy after 15 minutes (Misha). Just ran a circuit kiling everything for the hell of it until it dropped. 34 more recipes to go.
I'm assuming you're looking for info on farming
Well, by all means, don't get discouraged by the comments here. While the mobs are in fact spread out, it isn't nearly as bad as some people make it sound.
First of all, as a 110 you get zero damage, so the cannon shots can easily be dodged while moving from mob to mob.
Second thing is that if you kill ALL the demons, not just infernals, they'll respawn really fast. In my case they were spawning quicker than I could kill them. Farming session 101 folks.
Third, most mobs there will drop
, which sell really well in the AH.
And finally, if it sucks really bad for you and the recipe takes forever to drop, that means you'll end up with a bunch of
s. Use those to summon mini bosses at the crystals and snatch a few green BOEs which may also sell for a bunch of gold.
So, as long as you're farming alone, in any case you'll end up winning, either by seeing the recipe drop quickly, or by leaving the place a bit richer.
Oh, and the chances are you WILL be there alone, but if you happen to end up with someone else, group up. And if there's some rival faction scrub farming there as well, just come back later, do something else. Just have some fun!
Hope this helps you!
Here is what I dropped while farming
If I do some quick calculations based on the number of
since the drop rate is 77%.
I got the
after 30 kills ((23/0,77).
Drop rate of 3,33%
But I might have been lucky because I think the drop rate is around 1%
Unnecessarily low drop chance and high respawn timer (4-9min). I suggest watching movies or listening to podcasts while doing it.
I'm not sure if the drop rate has been increased for the pattern but I didn't even do 1 complete sweep of the area and I got mine. I was expecting to be at it for hours. Happy pattern hunting everyone and I hope you all get it quickly too.
The droprate and respawnrates are still abyssmal. But when you move around, use a ground mount. Makes it easier because the cannons can be annoying.
