High King Maulgar comes along with four other ogres (Kiggler the Crazed, Blindeye the Seer, Olm the Summoner and Krosh Firehand). Each of the other ogres has a specific class and can most likely be countered by its own class.
Kiggler the Crazed - Shaman
Blindeye the Seer - Priest
Olm the Summoner - Warlock
Krosh Firehand - Mage
Kiggler can be kited by either a shaman or hunter as he deals heavy magical damage with his lightning bolts.
Blindeye needs a tank and offensive dispeller. The tank takes aggro while the dispeller(shaman or priest) removes the power word shield that makes Blindeye immune to interrupts. Then interrupt all heals.
Olm the summoner can be countered by a lock that enslaves the felhounds to tank him.
Krosh can be tanked with a mage using spellsteal to steal Krosh's fireward to tank his fireballs.

The shield is not dispelable anymore. at least not with dispel magic/purge.
Maybe the ability of the felhounds work.
But anyway, the shield absorbs 25k damage, worste case you need to outdps it.
The King hits on a druid with 65% mitigation for around 5k normal hits, can be upto 9k crushings and his special ability can be around 9k too.
with bad luck you get melee swing and special ability in the same second, that can be 13k damage burst.
The trash do respawn after 1 hour.

an addition:
at 50% he dont use his weapons anymore and he get a "buff"
+200% movement speed
- 50% physical damage
also he can charge people now and has fear.
spread out and have an offtank on him as soon as possible.
healing wise its getting easier from that point. no more danger of a oneshot.

If you're having trouble with the Warlock (Olm the Summoner) running around and killing people at the pull before his felhound can be enslaved and used to tank him, try having an extra hunter misdirect aggro onto another player (anyone with a fair amount of hit points should do, though we had a prot paladin doing it with around 12k), who should be standing in the opening of the tunnel to the room. That player will then turn and run toward the instance entrance, with Olm the Summoner chasing after him. This usually gives one of your enslaving warlocks plenty of time to pick up a felhound and sic it on him before Olm catches up and death coils the tank.
We had no need to dispel the shield on Blindeye, so long as you have a decent amount of DPS you can just burn through the shield and then interrupt (which saves your priests a bunch of mana).
Kill order should be:
1. Blindeye the Seer (Priest)
2. Olm the Summoner (Warlock)
3. Ranged DPS on Krosh Firehand, melee DPS on Maulgar
4. Ranged DPS on Kiggler the Crazed, melee DPS on Maulgar
5. All DPS on Maulgar.
Be sure that your melee DPS stays away from Kiggler and Krosh, and runs out when Maulgar is about to whirlwind.

When you enslave the felhunter from Olm the Summoner, the pet comes with 3 abilites. The 1st is an auto cast damage spell with a 5 second cooldown. It shares cooldown with the dispel, so make sure to right click on it to turn off auto cast. The 2nd is a self dispel with a 10 sec cooldown, use it to get rid of the DoT on the felhunter. The 3rd is a 20 yrd taunt ability, use it on Olm the moment you enslave the felhunter. Olm will summon a new felhunters every 50 or so seconds, so just let another lock enslave the new ones.

Successfully killing High King Maulgar is really about the pull. You need to pull 5 different bosses all at once, and get them to the right places. Some of them have AoE heals, some have AoE attacks, so positioning is what it is all about.

If you find yourself short on tanks know that Blindeye can be stunlocked. I was tanking him and accidentally hit concussive blow... to my surprise it worked. After our first wipe we had three rogues constantly stunlocking him. The priest has the most health and goes down the slowest, the other three could be downed before this guy.... of course that assumes you have a decent number of rogues that can time their attacks properly and or can vanish at the right time.

Bugged on us last tonight. Kiggler did his AOE thing at one point which knocked the tank up onto the boulders behind where he was tanking and suddenly became unhealable due to LOS. The tank said he was stuck in place on the wall and couldn't move.
Maulgar followed the tank up onto the boulders and finished him off (we couldn't heal him), then probably the strangest bug I've ever encountered started to happen.
One by one we started to get 'teleported' to the spot where Maulgar was still standing on the boulders and he one-shotted us. Even those who were running towards the entrance by this point were teleported all the way back to that spot.
Maulgar eventually reset and we downed him on the next attempt.

When we did this we actually found the shaman goes down a lot faster than the warlock. We kept two warriors on Olm the Summoner to assist the warlock so that arrangement could be held as long as we wanted.. Once we got down the shaman we killed the warlock, ranged on the mage and than melees on Maulgar. When we initially did it healers were running low on mana nearing the end of the fight, doing it this way shaved off enough seconds to make a difference.

Just a note for first timers.
Though the fight does get progressively easier as his 4 adds are killed, as soon as he enrages, things get very chaotic. Your tank(s) will have a very hard time keeping him under control as he randomly charges and fears very often. The best advice I can give is try to spread out and keep up the DPS, it would suck to make it this far and die because of the ensuing chaos.

if u go to gruul's lair u will always need locks cause the warlock summons some felhunters and they does much damage... so you only have to banish/enslave the felhunters and then it will be easier to kill high king maulgar. i have a 70 druid feral. i was dps, we killed him without 1 wipe so we had a strong group:) he dropped Pauldrons of the Fallen Defender
Binds when picked up
Classes: Warrior, Priest, Druid
Requires Level 70
it was very nice for me cause i could have it and i getted it i was happy. i received at the vendor at the scyers:
Mantle of Malorne very nice! the next boss, gruul the dragon killer we owned him with 1 wipe:( but that was the first time that my guild killed gruul the dragon killer everyone was HAPPY! and the GM said: SERPENTSHRINE CAVERN! HERE WE COME WE GONNA OWNE YOU! :P very funny:)

Blindeye can be silenced through his shield, but the regular interrupts don't work. Once his shield is down, he can be interrupted with any damage. The following spells and effects have silence components and should work:
Silence (priest talent)
Counterspell (mage spell) with Improved Counterspell talent
Spell Lock (warlock felhound spell)
Silencing Shot (hunter talent)
Kick (rogue ability) with Improved Kick talent
Shield Bash (warrior ability) with Improved Shield Bash talent
Arcane Torrent (Blood Elf racial ability)

19 manned by the guild Mediocrity, Suramar realm.
Tanks were
1 Prot Warrior (on Maulgar)
1 Prot Paladin (on Olm)
1 Feral Druid (on Blindeye)
1 Moonkin (on Kiggler)
1 Fire mage (on Krosh)
Healers were
3 Holy Priests
1 Resto Druid
1 Holy Pally
DPS were
2 Shaman (1 Enhancement, 1 Elemental)
2 Mages
1 Warlock
1 Shadow Priest
1 Ret Pally
2 Hunters
Took three pulls, first one Olm was pulled too late to his tanking spot, due to a pet being sent in too early. Second was due to problems with Kiggler. At the beginning we had all DPS that was not tanking, DPS Blindeye, then moved all ranged to Kiggler (since we were short on DPS), then to Olm, Krosh, and finally Maulgar. Found that using a pally tank on Olm can be quite useful. Throwing consecrate down when he summons his pet makes the pet stick to you long enough for a warlock to enslave it.
Last pull no deaths. Was a really fun fight. Kept our healers on their toes! lol
Also, most raid members were in Kara/Badge gear. This was our second Maulgar kill so far and only 25 man we have entered thus far.

Maulgar can be single pulled by a hunter using misdirect and feign death. I'm not exactly sure on the specifics beyond this but I play on a foreign, (non american server) and we do this zone every week with 10 guys. It usually takes an experienced hunter a couple tries to make it work but single pull is possible.

This boss is easily 3-manned at 80, bring a dps class that can interrupt the heals, a tank, and a resto druid who can now tank both Kiggler (shaman) and Krosh (mage) in tree form by healing through the raw damage.

With a group of 20 or so pugged 80s, some 70s in the mix, we could simply pile them all together on one tank (40k HP with a healer) and tank and spank the whole group.

This fight is, in my opinion, harder than Gruul, actually. Simply because the fight requires more raid awareness and there is a danger of even tanks being one-shotted (unless your tank is a geared 80 :D). Gruul is much easier: range check 8 yards, tank and spank.

As a druid tank in Full heroic gear +5 359 epic pieces, this guy is completely unsoloable because of the Warlock ogre (Olm the Summoner), he uses death coil on you about every 6-8 seconds, which is a 3 second horror effect (which berserk doesnt protect against), and while feared the priest will occasionally heal him as well, and it goes in a similar fashion if you try take out the priest first

Just soloed this guy Today !
Char: Sauron / Server: Ragnaros (LA)
Warlock, did it with pvp set (mostly) and pvp talents with demonology and few aflly (siphon life)
I have soloed a lot of stuff and let me tell u this, this was the worst and harder fight ever.
Worst that Baron Geddon back in the lvl 80 days.
Dint FRAPS or anything, ill try to upload to youtube next week if i can do it again, the fight is a hell, but u need to know a few things:
1.- You need to enter with Inferno + Demon Form + Felguard Felstorm
2: The felguard need to be closer to the fight, actually closer than the warlock dude, because his perma death coil will kill u, after many wipes i saw he only coiled my Felguard when he was closer to him.
3: You have only a few seconds to kill the priest, fight him with everything, ur felguard (with caution for not breaking the rule 2), inferno, yourself in demon form and ur burn aura, instant soulfire, all dots, u will fail a lot of times and u will wipe, even with practice its a hard thing to do.
4: Priest down, go for the lock, u may lose ur felguard at this point, so be ready to instant demonic rebirth and then Soulshatter, aggro the king and the lock with ur Felguard ASAP, its OK if the mage and the saman are on you.
5: Kill the lock but make time to heal ur Felguard, u will need to have aggro on some stuff, even the elite felhunter summoned, otherwise you will get PERMA-Sheep from the mage, and ur felguard will die, u need to be damaged.
6: Focus on mage, and full dots on shaman, he will die easy, and the mage not, but u cannot be perma sheeped with the saman on ur tail, once again, make time to heal ur pet.
7: 3 dudes down, the fight is yours, the shaman should be death or almost death by now, focus him with ur pet and u
8: King alone is a joke, u can /spit him now, and solo his ass.
Like i said, this took my many wipes and like 3 hours of learning and practice timers, u need to practice when to use Shatter to avoid aggro of many things, but u need aggro of a few things actually, the first hard thing is to kill the priest, then is to keep ur pet alive.
Good luck fellow warlocks and have fun.

just 2 manned him today with 85 frost mage (i'm assa rogue myself). The fight is very nasty and took us 5 attempts to down him, even tho we were at 10% hp.
First of all.Your mage needs to aggro Firehand and spellsteal the shield everytime it's up.Meanwhile his pet should take care of the warlock and absorb some dmg. What i did was killing the priest very quickly (used kidney shot as its very helpful). However expect a lot of fers and disarms...The key to this fight is killing priest as soon as possible while minimalizing damage taken

Basicly if you get priest down 1st and shammy 2nd then the fight is yours. The spawned felpuppies dies quick and besides they are barely any issue at all compared to shammy sheep and lock´s death coils to a smaller extent.

Can be solo'd by a hunter. I'll record next week and post.
For any hunter wanting to solo it- Marksmanship spec is the way to go in this fight. Silencing shot does work on the priest. Although oddly enough, it does not work on the priest trash pulls before and after HKM.
Glyphs- Glyph of mend pet, and glyph of misdirection are extremely helpful in this fight.
Pet- Turtle
Strategy- Put MD on your pet, and send the pet after the priest. Use both the Turtle Shell (50% damage reduction) and Cower (40%) at the same time when your pet reaches the group. The reason for this is so you don't have to use Mend Pet right away and generate unwanted threat from the other CC spamming ogres. Open with 2- Multi-shots. Now use all your CD's (Rapid fire/trinket), and burn the priest down. When the priest approaches 50% HP, that is when you want to use your silencing shot.
After the priest is down, make sure you are keeping Mend Pet up at ALL times. Even with a tenacity pet, his health will drop fairly quickly in this fight. When you do pull aggro, use whatever defensive CD's you have, and always fire Chimera Shot whenever it is up for the 5% health. I personally prefer taking down the summoner ogre after the priest. The shaman sheeping me or my pet has never been an issue while solo'ing this fight because I never get aggro from him.
Try to keep at max range, continue to use MD, and eventually you will down the whole group.

2-manned High King, Gruul, and Magtheridon last night with a pvp-specced Assassination rogue and me, a frost/fire mage.
For High King we focused down the priest 1st. Deep freeze is your friend for this fight. I popped Time Warp off the pull and we burned the priest without him getting a heal off, then we burned the shammy down no problem. The rogue was getting low on hp so I popped my images, which somehow stole threat from him and he was able to bandage. We killed the warlock then the mage (spell stole his shield like the old days....ahhh, mage tanking Krosh), then I kited High King around the room as best I could using Blink + Ice Barrier to absorb as much damage as possible. He killed me finally when he had about 50k life left, and the rogue just popped Evasion again and burned him down.
We both used PvP trinkets to break any sheep/fears sent our way, but after the 1st three guys are dead its a cake walk. Gruul and Mag were easy as well.
Frost really shines for soloing old world content. Deep Freeze just eats into bosses' hp when it crits for 90k+.

Soloed as a Frost mage with the
standard pve spec
, but the 2 floater points go to maxing permafrost for water elemental healing.
The adds don't hit extremely hard against cata hp pool, but the annoying aspects of the fight are the
fears
thrown at you if you do not have mirror image up, therefore, making the fight a dps race to kill important adds before it runs out.
I had my water elemental stood at the right wall of the room near Krosh and using it to pull and tank HKM. keeping him in the corner and the WW damage only to my water ele.
Around 3s into the pull, Olm will cast death coil on you on a short cd until you have mirror images up and isn't tanking him. Kill order is Blindeye (priest) > Olm (Lock) > Kigger (Shaman) > Krosh (mage) > HKM.
All of the adds except the priest are immune to stuns, allowing DF to deal full damage. Watch out for the heal casted by the priest and CS it (it heals for a lot) and nuke him down as fast as possible, he never lived to cast the uninteruptable shield for me. As long as Blindeye and Olm dies within the duration of mirror image, the fight is pretty much won. Just remember to spellsteal spell shield from krosh and don't pull HKM off water ele past 50% until he has casted his
fear
. Save a DF to finish HKM quickly after you pulled aggro off water ele. The rest of the damage is tankable by Ice barrier+ mana shield.

I'll confirm Maulgar can be soloed by a MM hunter. I was running at 353 equipped iLevel and a ferocity pet. To offer up some more advice on how to get it done:
Be prepared for a
lot
of frustration. The fight hinges upon killing Blindeye first, but doing so will likely take many attempts, and success will be decided by a little luck as well. Don't expect to one-shot it. Don't expect to even ten-shot it.
Remember that pet death is cheap now once you're out of combat with proper talents and glyphs. If the run isn't going your way, be quick to disengage to the back of the room, FD, and let your pet die so the fight resets. Even use Readiness if you have to. Getting your pet back up, healing him, and waiting on cooldowns is a lot less frustrating than running back to the instance over and over, especially considering your spirit can't fly in Blade's Edge.
I found a good opening to be to send your pet at Blindeye with Misdirect on, Multi-shot Olm the Summoner, then Multi-shot Blindeye. Hit Blindeye with Widow Venom, and then Misdirect another Multi-shot or two after the first fel hound is summoned and on you. This tends to give pretty good initial aggro on your pet and let you really hammer on Blindeye. Don't be afraid to hit MD again even while single-targeting Blindeye, though.
You
want
a fel hound on you. They do very little damage, but break the sheep. Kiggler's lightning bolts do
not
break it, so a hound makes a good anti-CC. They have very little health (20k) so once Kiggler is dead they die in only two or three shots.
Keep mend pet up. A ferocity pet is probably going to die no matter what, but it shouldn't be until at least two ogres are down. Heart of the Phoenix is your friend at that point, just make sure he won't get one-shot before the server remembers to top his health off.
Do
not
get too anxious with Silencing Shot. If you use it while Blindeye is above 50%, you will not kill him unless you get a very long string of lucky crits. Just let Widow Venom do it's job until he hits about 40%, and then silence him and hope to finish him off before he can get anything else off. If he even starts to cast Prayer of Healing, you probably already failed.
Use a PvP trinket. Long strings of CC are going to happen, and almost always mean it's time to reset the fight. Save it for when Blindeye is sub-40% and you can get a good burn on him (IE, sub-40% but zero focus is not a good time to use it).
After Blindeye, I went for Kiggler. The sheep is a lot more dangerous than the horror; going three seconds without Mend Pet isn't as bad as 10+. Either way, if you kill Blindeye the fight is almost in the bag.
For what it's worth, the mage's shield can be removed with Tranq, and fel hounds can be freezing trapped
Again, once you manage to drop Blindeye, you're probably going to down Maulgar. Enjoy your loot, and push on to the far, far easier Gruul.

Since Blizzard saw fit to take Berserk and nerf it so that we are no longer immune to fear while it is up (thx pvp), I spent almost all of my time getting smacked around while feared every few seconds. Edit: Attempted again now at 383 with no more luck than before. The problem isnt gear it is related to dmg output. Soloed as a fury warrior (ilevel 381). Didn't bother killing any of the adds, even the priest, just nuked Maulgar down. Strangely his adds stay put even when he's dead and you can go on to the next boss without killing them. The priest will probably cast a heal or two before the boss dies, but it's faster to kill Maulgar straight off and you won't have enough self healing to try and nuke both down through all the CC. Be sure to throw in a few cleaves when you're high on rage because it will make the priest try to heal one of the adds instead of maulgar.

So, I can't solo this on my feral, either in full PvP or full tank. They CC far too much, and every time I've gotten the healer close to death, I'm already lowish on HP.
However, I can solo this on my BM hunter. It isn't easy. I bring a Spirit Beast, send it in onto the healer, hit Cower asap to avoid it being pummeled down (DON'T mend pet at first, or you'll draw aggro). Save Spirit Mend for yourself. MD everything with one Multishot, and then nuke the priest, hard. If you get lucky and down him, you have a good shot of beating the rest. It took me seven deaths the SECOND time I did this--point being, there's a lot of RNG involved regarding the mobs' cc.

I've just soloed this with my feral druid. Bear talent-spec with dps-gear and a single Stamina trinket. Equipped itemlvl was 381 (2 pieces of PvP gear).
The main point is to kill the Warlock as fast as possible. Utilize every single cooldown and all available buffs for that. I used: Motw, 90 Agility food, Runescroll of Fortitude II (468 stamina), Elixir of the Master, Prismatic Elixir, and a Potion of the Tol'vir.
More specifically: I started in stealth => feral charged behind the warlock => opened with a ravage => then immediately used a Potion of the Tol'vir => popped Berserk => and got a 5 combo Rip up on the Warlock. After that I was feared half of the time, but my dps was able to outpace the healing from the priest. I myself got down to about 30k hp (still in Cat Form) before the warlock was dead, where after I changed to Bear Form and popped Frenzied Regeneration to heal halfway up again.
From this point on it was not as hard any longer. Next add I killed was the priest, then the mage, and finally the shaman. After that it was easy to finish off the boss himself.
First attempt with this strategy was close to a win as I had the warlock down to about 20 k before I got killed. But the second time around was a success. So even you probably also need a bit of luck with crits at the right times from you attacks etc, I would still say that with gear levels about 380 and upwards it should be quite doable for ferals. Maybe not in first attempt, but neither should it take forever :)

Solo'd as an Arcane Mage with ilevel 382 gear. After coming so very close the traditional way I decided for my last attempt to just attack the King. Popped everything (Mage Copy, trinkets, Time Warp, etc) and was able to easily kill him. The adds stayed up but I went invisible and out of combat. The four adds simply reset to their normal positions and the king laid there dead. Gate was gone and looted him. Hope this helps anyone frustrated trying to attempt to solo this in the old style.

Solo'd today as a Feral Druid.
Keep a Medallion or Insignia of the Horde on you. It helps.
Buffs:
Runescroll of Fortitude
Prismatic Elixir
Skewered Eel
Elixir of the Cobra
Method
Before the fight I set Blindeye to my Focus and then targeted Olm
I popped a
Potion of the Tol'vir
, Tiger's Fury, Berserk, and
Kiroptyric Sigil
(for added assistance). Feral Charged Olm, and then used Ravage, Mangle and Rake. Every time I've tried this I get 5 CP but your mileage may vary. You'll have just enough time to put Rip on him before he CCs you. When he does pop your Medallion/Insignia, put another 5 CP on him and then Ferocious Bite. Blindeye can't keep up with the damage, and he'll go down quickly.
Go after Blindeye now in Bear Form. You'll probably have to use Barkskin or Survival Instincts. He's not immune to Bash so stop his first heal with it and start pounding on him, your health should be low about now so pop Enrage and Frenzied Regeneration, Skull bash his heals when you can and he'll go down quickly. Focus on Maulgar and you should be able to take him out no problem.

Done with ease as a Retribution paladin in iLvl403 gear. High King Maulgar died within my Avenging Wrath & Zealotry timeframe.

Just did this as Demon Lock with an ilvl of 385. Pop all CDs (Meta, DS, Doomguard) and nuked down Maulgar then ran out of the instance. Got poly'd that had me scared for a second but my dots just ate his health. Try this strategy if you are semi decent in nuking.

Marksmanship (7/31/3) Hunter.
Ballinhunts, of Kargath-US.
409 iLvl
Using a turtle as the "Go-To"
tenacity
pet, I find it easy to solo (duo really) all of the old content as an appropriately-spec'ed
Marksmanship
Hunter.
I advise the use of
Glyph of Mending
and
Glyph of Misdirection
as two critical Major Glyphs, the other choices are yours to make.
As has been previously mentioned,
High King Maulgar
is indeed a challenge compared to
Gruul the Dragonkiller
.
I attempted the
Nuke
strategy and got
High King Maulgar
to 9% before I was polymorphed (the use of the PvP trinket would've combated this) and he was healed entirely. I called an audible, and went for the
Process of Elimination
strategy.
Send in your (tenacity) pet, and Misdirect the council with Multi-Shot - as many as you can get in - because your pet will more than likely be subjected to threat-wiping abilities. Focus
Blindeye the Seer
(heals) first,
Kiggler the Crazed
(polymorph) second,
Olm the Summoner
(fear) third,
Krosh Firehand
(shenanigans) fourth, then you and your pet can finally be punted to victory by
High King Maulgar
himself.
Use Feign Death often and Disengage (to combat the falling damage) multitudes!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me in-game!

Downed the High King and his Council today as a prot pally with a mish-mash of prot gear, pve dps gear, and the odd pvp piece. Item level was 384. I had initially tried (and failed) several attempts as ret but between the CC, disarms, and incoming damage, I just didn't have enough to burn down any of them. If I was lucky enough to get one down, I died very quickly thereafter.
I switched to prot and after another couple failed attempts, I was able to burn down Blindeye while taking a lot of punishment and surviving through the various CCs. From there, I killed Kiggler (annoying polymorph), then Olm, Krosh, and finally Maulgar.
I basically used all my defensive cooldowns at the start, put up wings, and broke out of the first poly with my pvp trinket. I used a stun and interrupted when possible on Blindeye. He actually went down fairly quickly. I used Lay on Hands either after the first or second add just as a precaution to top myself up as my health was around 40% or so even after one or two Words of Glory. I had seal of insight up, blessing of might, resistance aura, and drums of the forgotten kings. No flasks, pots, or even food was used.
Maybe I just got lucky this time but it is possible to down this encounter solo as a prot paladin. I look forward to trying again next week in hopes the hammer drops for me.

Soloed as a level 85 ilvl 391 combat rogue. Tips: leeching poison, wound poison, preparation, Glyph of Recuperate, Glyph of Cloak of Shadows, weapon chain on offhand (Disarm SUCKS!). Open on Olm with Blade Flurry active, pop AR, use cloak and evasion right before he finishes pet summon. After 5 seconds use smoke bomb to protect against Kiggler's crap. If you're lucky Olm will be down now - if not pop Prep and cloak again. Olm down, Krosh should be down to a hit or two from Blade Flurry so finish him off quick. I then moved to Kiggler, Blindeye, and finally Maulgar. I kept BF active to mess with the heals; along with wound poison heals were not a problem. Keep recup up, shiv for leaching poison heal often. I used 1 health pot probably unnecessarily. Fun times. Gruul was a joke after this.

Just downed him after 4 tries with my item level 387 shadow priest. My advice is to burn down the Lock first, then the healer. That fear combined with the poly morph is hell! Healer is easy after that. Just remember to keep renew up along with Prayer of Mending and to expect to pop up a few flashing heals.

Recently soloed this on a 395 Fury warrior. After a number of attempts trying to finesse my way through it as Arms and Prot (and Ret and Prot on my pally), I gave in and went the angry, sullen road of Reckstorm. Worked great.
To the extent that strategy matters with this method, I would recommend this:
Buff up, target Kiggler. BShout, use a rage potion (rage potion is incredibly helpful). Leap into position to the left of Kiggler (your left). Pop Reck mid-flight, then
BT -> CSmash + DPS trinket -> RB -> Bladestorm
Save the PvP trinket and Berserker Rage for emergencies.
Assuming you have perfect timing, this takes 4.5 seconds after impact to get Bladestorm up. In my experience, you might be able to get one more global in there, but I wouldn't risk it.
You'll almost certainly drop Kiggler. Then it's Olm > Krosh > Blindeye > High King. The important thing is Reckstorm to DPS and avoid CC, and to make absolutely sure that Kiggler is down before you do anything else. Disarm ruins families.
Alternatively, you can two-shot the High King with CSmash->Stormbolt in a couple weeks.

Solo'd the High King this afternoon on my 85 destruction warlock with an average ilvl around 360 (mostly pvp gear). Using glyph of supremacy and soul link I sent in the void lord to gather the group and used havoc to chaos bolt both the healer and the warlock.
Before the fight really started they were down to 40% health and then picked the rest off one by one whilst the void lord took the brunt of their CC abilities. Very easy fight in the end and nothing to worry about with our self healing abilities.
Good luck, the t4 shoulders are well worth a transmog!

I tried to solo this as a 90 Blood DK. I managed to get it down to just the lock and Maulgar, but got d/ced. I tried again and got d/ced at about the same point in the fight. No idea why, and didn't want it to happen again, so I gave up.
Edit: There was a sizable interval between the two attempts, and I don't think it's random that it happened both times when there were only two left.

Easily solo'able as a moonkin druid at level 90.
Focus on the healer (Blindeye the Seer) first after that go for Olm the Summoner. Can't get polymorphed in moonkin form so that issue shouldn't be a problem.

Soloed no problem as a lvl 86 Boomkin, 400ish ilvl. Blow up the warlock, nuke the priest and from there it's cake. Wound up killing the boss before the mage, but I with rejuv ticking away I ended at full hp.

What's disappointing, to a point, is that there are no Tier drops that are for Monks. One would think that with the added content of MoP, there would be at least something added in the older zones for the new class. Oversight or is it that no one does the old raids anymore?

Soloed this with my 85 DK in 417 item level gear. I did it in blood spec.
The strategy for Maulgar is to kill Olm the summoner first because the Horror he casts doesn't break when you take damage. Polymorph does break with damage. Then kill the other 3. The order isn't critical. I usually kill the mage next then the priest then the shaman. Finally finish off Maulgar.

Disclosure: I am not the world's greatest player. That said, I was determined to get this down on my 90 rogue solo, but was having a ragefest on Maulgar due to the constant fear, sheep and my abysmal reflexes. I have now resolved this and blast through Maulgar in about 20 seconds thanks to my two best friends:
马尔泰弱智
drops
马尔泰的放大镜
.
虬达
drops
陶制碎片
.
ok, so not really 'solo' technically but at least I don't have to find someone else to drag up to Blade's edge.
Just out of aggro range, pop the trinkets. Stealth. Ambush
召唤者沃尔姆
(Warlock) and kill him.
I target
克洛什·火拳
next and then kill the rest in any order. My two buddies are left standing and I collect my loot.
Gruul himself is a simple tank and spank, he hits for 4k-5k max, easily ignored with the HP of a 90 refreshing recuperate. Good luck!

Soloed as a lvl 90 Assa rogue, ilvl 479.
I tried going by the suggested tactic of blowing up the lock, then mage. It didnt work for me - the shaman kept disarming me and severely reducing my damage output, which in the end forced me to vanish because I couldn't do anything between disarms and polymorphs, and the priest healing.
So I took a moment to rethink my kill order which was the following and it worked:
First I nuked the shaman, then the warlock, followed by the priest and the summoned felpuppy.
From that point it was easy to kill the mage and then finish off Maulgar himself.
For any other melee wishing to solo I heavily recommend killing the shaman first so you won't get disarmed!

So, found out that Shaman can Polymorph now! Yay! Collecting the old Tier 4 set for xmog so I had to do Gruul's Lair. Was going to go with a Warlock (fear), Mage (poly) rotation with the Priest and Shaman afterwards. The Fear and Polymorphs kept me out of the fight for most of it and I died.
I just noticed now that the King is the one with the long fear - 8 secs.
Second attempt I did Mage, Priest, Warlock, Shaman. After the first three were dead I kept getting sheeped every 10 seconds or so. Was really frustrating considering I'd killed the Mage. My Spirit Wolves just came off CD as I had around 10k HP left, just barely got a Maelstrom heal proc to save my ass. One more proc got me up over 50k, Shaman dropped, King went down like a sack of potatoes after that.
And yes I did get my Shoulder token, thank God.
VERY tough fight, even as an end-game geared Enh Shaman (Firelands, Dragon Soul). Not surprised that even Level 90's are having trouble with this fight.

Very hard as a Ret pala lvl90, over 400ilvl. I got my ass kicked, never made out of there alive with all the cc and fear.. When I changed spec to holy I only managed to stay alive while going for the entrance..
I will try again soon as I have got some upgrades on my ret gear, but if I fail again I will go prot for this.. I really want that hammer, I got it on my warrior from a 5 man group and absolutely must have it on the pala..
Any advice for Ret palas going solo on this?

Solo'd as a 515 arcane mage today. Hilariously simple as a mage compared to my paladin. I noticed a comment further down saying to pop all cooldowns and just hit Maulgar, which I did. He wasn't dead at the time I got feared, but Living Bomb continued ticking and killed him for me. I cannot stress how useful
Mirror Image
is in this situation. You'll be the first to be feared because you pulled the group, but once you're feared the others will turn to your Mirror Images. After your fear breaks, you have some breathing room to focus down the others. When you're not getting all the CC at once it's a lot simpler. Also,
Ice Barrier
works wonders here and in basically any older content because of the massive amount of damage absorption and the fact it prevents spellcast knockback.

I managed to solo this as an 89 Blood DK as of current patch at time of post (5.4)
As previous comments mention, the kill order is still the same.
Burn the Priest (Blindeye the Seer) and prevent him healing. Next up;
Burn the Mage (Krosh Firehand) and stop the continual polymorphing.
Then focus on the warlock who's sending demons after you and casting fear (Olm the Summoner)
At this point I was able to burn the rest of HKM's HP and then the shaman. Throughout the entire 5 minute fight I kept popping Anti-Magic shell every time it came off Cooldown. This helps stop the fearing/ CC's long enough for you to Blood Boil and spread diseases to all of them.
If you need extra help, pop Army of the Dead and/or Raise Dead along with Death and Decay.

Soloed this guy pretty easily as a super fresh mage that I barely know how to play, after I stopped trying so hard, I kept failing then when settled down and just relaxed I did it in like 2 minutes. I used Mage armor to reduce the fear duration, targeted the priest first, cast Mirror image to distract them used frost block to remove threat and toss it all on them then I blinked away while continuing to blast the others down with fire spells, then took out the fel hounds while dotting up the summoner, continued to take out the weak ones first, working my way up the tree when they where all dead. After that it was pretty much a breeze gruul is a chump compared to them.

Just solo'd him as a level 80 ret pally. I don't know who thought up that order for Soloing, but for me it worked like this:
Blindeye the Seer (can't afford to have the cc heal)
Olm the Summoner (Seriously you HAVE to get rid of the cc first)
Krosh Firehand (Again, get rid of all that cc)
After that you can handle the other two very easily. I went in with hands of freedom on me and avenging wrath. I knew I had limited time to burn the priest before I got feared. After hand went off, I threw on divine shield and killed the warlock. Then all I had to do was fight the mage. When it's only one person turning you into a sheep, you can handle it a lot easier. At level 80 with ilvl 207, they weren't doing any real serious damage to me. I think I used Eternal Flame once. And that was just as a precautionary moment.
Anyways good luck to everyone else.

It seems High King Maulgar never found the Eye of Sulfuras to upgrade his Sulfuron Hammer to a legendary.
No wonder he angry.
