Easy to solo as a feral druid (I was lvl 67):
- clear 5-6 ogres right before him
- start attacking in bear form (get few pieces of tanking set for armor)
- when you are low on health, jump down to left. He will have to go all the way back to you and you have 10-15 seconds to fully heal. Remember to moonfire him, so he doesn't evade. Also switch to bear early, he charges.
- while attacking, get back to the place where he was, so you can jump down again
- repeat
You will have only few minutes until ogres start to respawn. I healed 3-times, but twice may be enough. Don't try to bash him, he is immune.

maybe of interest, as a 70 rogue while grinding mag'har rep i tried to solo him, i got him down to about 40 percent health before having to vanish, but when he ran back to where i pulled him his health did not regenerate at all. i waited a few minutes for my cooldowns and proceeded to finish killing him.
i dont know if this was a bug or a built-in mob characteristic, but im guessing if i had died instead of vanishing, he would have regened all his health like usual.

70 frost mage and 65 BM/Mark hunter took him out, with some careful kiting. The charge can be a pain, and he can't be rooted/frost nova'd so you gotta watch out for that.

If your doing the kiting method it seems that some times when he resets he wont regen to full health, making the next attempt easier.

Soloed him as a 70 Feral druid without using the jump-down kiting method (wish I'd thought of that... heh.) I got him down to about 30%, died and ran back, and his health hadn't regenerated making the second try very easy.
He can't be stunned.

Easy solo as a 67 warlock. Enslaved an elite Felguard from the Forge camps right by the hills, only had to re-apply once relatively deep in the caves.
He mashed up Cho'war pretty good, in fact he can be used to solo most of the elite quests in Nagrand.

Solo'd as a 70 shadowpriest. I actually wasn't expecting him to hit me as hard as he did and because he is immune to fear I couldn't kite him. I was forced out of shadowform and just healed myself through the fight as I kept dots up, and shielded then mind flayed/blasted when I could.

Easy lvl 67 elite, able to solo with some classes using kite tactic.
He has rly low hp actually so fight will not be long, 2 man absolutly! (lvl 65+ both so it is easy 2 man q).
He hitted hunter (lvl 67) pet rly weakly so, I quess mend pet will be enough, tho mortal strike sometimes so be careful. He charges some times to no-tank players, but it does rly weak dmg. :)
Rly easy 67 elite and definetly 2 man or even 1 man q, if u are right class.

Soloed as a 70 Hunter (BM spec). He hit harder on my pet than i expected, so i pulled aggro off my pet and ran off the ledge to give the mend time to replace some hp. Kept shooting him as he ran down to me, apart from when he was out of range on the opposite side of the path down. Then ran past him (taking quite a bit of damage) and turned growl back on with my pet, who caught aggro again and tanked him while I moved back into shooting range.
Then I used Bestial Wrath and Rapid Fire, and (keeping mend pet on all the time) somehow managed to do enough dps to down him before he killed my pet. At the end I did manage to pull aggro off my pet, but we did enough damage to kill him just before he got into melee range with me. End result was my pet and I both on 10%-20% health.

When you die, feign death (and vanish, probably) he regenerates his health now.
The adds around the cave respawns within four minutes, so watch out if you're going to try that 'jump down and heal' thing.

I just killed this guy with myself (68 warrior) and a 66 demon lock, this is how we did it:
- first we killed all mobs surrounding him and the ramp
- then the lock dotted/shadowbolted Cho to pull and he jumped straight down, leaving his pet behind to dps him while he runs down the ramp
- I (warr) ran down the ramp, following Cho to dps a bit on the way. If I overaggroed, I'd just jump down too and have the lock dps him further.
- when Cho reached the lock, the lock ran back up, having Cho follow him (this might sound a bit dangerous for a clothie to run past an elite with a big ass hammer, but as Cho was hitting on the lock, so was I, and I taunted Cho off the lock when the lock got down to 50%)
- then just run up again, rince and repeat.
ok, this might not sound as the most safe way to kill him, but seeing we had no healer, we had to improvise a bit ^^

As a full frost mage, it was frustrating to not be able to slow or freeze him; it really takes away a lot of my ability to solo a mob. That plus his 45k hitpoints and Mortal Strike ... it took a few tries. Here's what finally worked for me. I'm level 70 with decent but not great gear; self-buffed (but with no weapon oil or food buff) I did it with just 778 +damage and 6993 hp. I used Molten Armor instead of Ice Armor.
The basic idea should work for ranged players that can bring some sort of pet to the fight, by using the terrain to force him to travel to ping-pong between you and your pet.
Start on the ramp just south of him, as far as you can be from him but still in range and able to jump down to the narrow ledge immediately below his area. If your pet can't start the fight with a ranged attack, start it yourself with something from which your pet will be able to grab agg from you. Then jump down to the narrow ledge and start DPSing. Pull the agg off your pet when it won't be able to take much more damage, and Cho'war will start the long path around the ramp to you, which is just about 36 yards across (you might have a dead spot or two). Then, depending on your circumstance, let the pet get agg back or resummon it or whatever.
So for me, I started with the water elemental and my Netherwing Ally trinket (the latter for constant DPS rather than burst DPS from my other trinkets, and to give Cho'war another potential target.) I pulled agg before the water elemental died, so all three of us were still DPSing him as he ran around the ramp to me. Just before he got to me I iceblocked to get a moment or two where he was back on the elemental, then cold snapped, summoned another elemental (who would not be able to grab agg at this point), blinked to get out of his charge stun and a little range, and started heading back up the ramp as the elemental and netherwhelp kept DPSing him. When the chill of the first ice block wore off, I was able to do another one to transfer agg back to the elemental then, so I could start DPSing Cho'war again after he made it back to the elemental. Took me three tries to get right, but the attempt where I beat him I didn't even use a health or mana potion.
Hope this gives some other classes some ideas how they can make it work.

Send your pet in with a Mend running. Blast the hell out of Cho'war, pull agro off pet a couple times, just barely, to give pet some heal time while Cho'war is running back and forth. Feign death. Lay into him again til dead. Popped one Super Health Potion for good measure, but didn't need to. Keep Mend running on pet at all times. Pretty easy.

Once AW faded away, I judged Seal of Wisdom and used mana to heal and for rank 1 Holy Shield. Just time your heals well and make sure holy shield is up all the time and it's piece of cake.

Confirmed by a GM. This mob has a special property that makes him reset his hp to 10% lower than before if he takes significant damage. This way, if you so choose, you can zerg him by damaging him to 60%ish and dying a few times and he will eventually reset to only 40%.

A few tips for feral druids - I just soloed this guy at 67 in one attempt without using the "jump down and heal" tactic.
-Use Enrage to build rage before you attack but don't use it while in combat, your armor is the only thing keeping you alive.
-If you've got the Regal Protectorate or the Charm of Alacrity from Hellfire Peninsula quests, use them. They'll save your life.
-He's stun-immune, so bash+heal isn't going to work. Just use Barkskin.
-Keep Demoralizing Roar, Mangle, and a 5-stack of Lacerate on him at all times.
-Having a few pieces of tank gear from instances, or at least some decently enchanted BOE blues, is a good idea. I've got about 13.5k armor, 28% dodge, and almost 8800 hp in dire bear with Mark of the Wild.
I used Frenzied Regeneration when he was at about 70% - be sure you've got a good amount of rage before you use it. Ideally, try to use it right after you dodge one of his mortal strikes. At about 45%, I popped out of bear, hit Barkskin, and quickly put up a Regrowth, 3 Lifeblooms, and a Rejuv before popping back in. Didn't use any consumables.
It wasn't overly difficult, but it was a nice challenge. It's definitely doable with a bit of luck and some good timing on your heals. Good luck!

Soloed this tonight as a 69 enhancement shaman. On the first attempt my cooldown wasn't up on my
Earth Elemental
so I used the
Fire Elemental
instead. I had to heal him a lot though it would have been doable except that when I had to start taking the hits I forgot to use a heath potion or use
Shamanistic Rage
. I had him down to about 10%. When I came back for the second attempt he was at 100% so perhaps the issue with him not healing all the way has been fixed. Anyway, my cooldown on my
Earth Elemental
was up by then so the second attempt was a piece of cake despite the fact that Cho'war had fully healed.

Bubbled at around 25% of his hp. His damage output before Sundering Cleave or Mortal Strike is laughable - hits for 300ish on plate. MS is 1.4k. Killing him before Sundering Cleave stacks too high is essential - basically, burn everything you got, every dps cooldown goes here.

Gear was mixed quest/some instance (~lvl62-65instance gear).

Alright, this is getting kinda amusin' for the moment.
I've previously soloed all the grp quests on my DK that I'm lvling atm.
Looked in Wowhead for Cho'wars and Gurok's HPs and Gurok was a pushover even though he didn't play nice and crit me for a "massive" 1300 as his first hit. >.>
Cho'war.. 44k HP and I thought, hell.. he's not gonna be soloed by me at least...
Lo and behold, good friends! I actually friggin' soloed him.... not really an accomplishment but hey, never done it before so a first is always a first.
Wasn't too hard in all honesty, just remembered him being tougher from before but he was.. a pushover really. >.>
Lvl 68 Blood DK with quest rewards mostly and some of the starter gear, even put frost presence on for extra HP and armor but apparently that wasn't even necessary, he dropped so fast.
On a side note: makes a person think that DKs are somewhat OP... or then intentionally made this way so that peeps can solo their ways through Outland. *shrug*

When you're near Corki's case, be sure you get the quest.
Then you can leave cave and run to another cave at another side. Some players forgot it. (another Corki's quests are key drop from mob near case, but this time you must run to another side to kill Cho'war!)
Cho'war is pretty hard mob, pet health goes more down compared to Gurok. But i keep him hitting with Steady Shot and heal pet.
Here is something nice: Cho'war shall hit and stun you sometimes, but this makes healing pet more easier, because there is no aggro at pet. The health of pet can raise faster up to around 90%. No need for FD or pull aggro.
Easy work for l70 hunter.

I wouldn't say easily solo'd, but I solo'd him today as a 65 Balance Druid. I opened up with Starfire, IS, MF and did as much DPS on him as I could up top then dropped when I was around 40%. I kept a constant MF/IS up and took about 3-4min to kill him, but I did it. I had to pop one health pot to make sure I healed through the MS though.
Definitely a lot more fun and exciting to try and solo before grouping.

Had an awesome experience with this guy tonight.
Tried to solo him first as fury warrior, got him down to around 20k in health before I had to bail-out (I was on about 300 health at the time!). Subconciously noted that his health didn't go back to 100% as I was running away, but only realised the significance of this once I started reading the comments here while I was on my mount flying to Nessingwary's camp. Sharp about-turn once I understood the situation and headed back to try out the jumping down and healing tactic.
On my way back through the cave came across an orc dk (my toon's a human), who was presumably on his quest to get Cho'war's head. Anyway, I get to Cho'war first and start pounding away, fully expecting the dk to hang back and wait for me to die(!), but no!, he joins in as well and helps me to whap this guy down even though he would then have to wait for him to respawn. Radcliffe, if you're reading this, /salute!

To find him:
There are two tunnels. Go to the North one. Follow it through and it will lead you outside. To the left there is a hill; go up and go into the other tunnel. Follow the spiraling path up to him. If you have a flying mount, you could probaby fly over the first tunnel and right into the second one; I didn't try it.
On a side note, EASILY soloed as a Blood DK. I used my pet and had to Death Pact quickly, but mainly I used Icy Touch, Plague Strike, then used the rotation of Death Strike, Pestilence (Glyph of Disease; kept my dots up) and Heart Strike. Wasn't in Frost Presence, didn't use Ice Bound Fortitude, Blood Fury, Bladefist's Breadth, Dancing Rune Weapon or Rune Tap. I did use Vampiric Blood when I Death Pact'd... but all in all, this guy is very, very easy and completely soloable by almost any class.
Sorry Rogues, get a group.

Difficult, but possible to solo as 67 Shadow Priest in green/blue quest gear. Need Vamp Embrace, Dispersion, Shadowfiend, and good timing with the Shield.
Clear the ramp below (to jump down as mentioned above). If you can get him down better than half way before jumping down you should be able to do this. Jump down, redot him, heal to full, switch back to shadow, and continue.
Had to burn a health pot at the end, and just got him down.

Soloed as a level 66 Protadin. Just do what a Protadin does and you shouldn't go below 98% health.

Soloed as a 66 Enhance Shaman. Pop out wolves, drop totems and proceed to kill him. Constantly taunt him off yourself with the wolves. Save shamanistic rage only for when the wolves disappear. I was in heirloom gear and used 1 health potion. Good luck!

Total joke for a Tankadin, just put up judgement of light and you'll outheal his damage,
On a related note the respawns are very fast and you may get the mob right before him before your done.

Soloed as a 67 Prot Warrior...half blues half greens no heirloom pieces. I did have about 400 def tho and 9.2k hp.....really easy even without stun effects. Just keep up shield block, demo shout, thunder clap, and shield wall and any other trinks when you feel you need to. I didnt go below 50% hp though i did pot once when i hit about 50% hp...simple tho just make sure you clear out any adds.

If you're looking for
Cho'war's Key
and he doesn't seem to drop it, check your keyring.
It will have a yellow border unlike most other keys, because it's a quest item.

Here's how I killed him as a lvl 68 affliction lock.
Step 1: Summon a doomguard via Curse of Doom and enslave it.
Step 2: Use Curse of Weakness on the Cho'war.
Step 3: Quickly command your new slave to attack Cho'war and DPS extremly lightly (I just used 1 corruption) you can do a little more but don't pull aggro (omen threat meter helps here).
Step 4: Wait until your Doomguard is at around 25% health, then put all your DoTs on the boss. Shoot a couple of shadowbolts and start running around the patch you came from.
Step 5: If he follows you (your Doomguard lost aggro) keep dpsing and take potions/use life drain/death coil/healthstone/ as needed.
I easily killed him with 90% hp without needed any heals with this method.
Good luck ;)!

Soloed as a lvl 67 Enhance Shaman.
Totems used : Searing, Mana Spring, Stoneskin.
Keep hitting him with Stormstrike and Fire Shock, and save your maelstorm weapons for Healing Wave when you are low on HP. Dont forget to keep your Lightning Shield all the time.
He'll be down in no time.

Just soloed with level 71 destro lock. I am new to this spec so should be pretty easy for anybody else. Good tips about going in the back door and being able to pull the last ogre. Used my voidwalker and sent him in then lit things up and dotted pretty much a standard rotation. Immolate conflagrate incinerate but then went to bane of doom and summoned a doom guard. After that it was corruption, chaos bolt and soul fire. Just keep hitting and watch life on your void or you will lose him. Ended it with Shadowburn.

Just solo'd him as a 67 Arcane Mage. Really simple, actually, I took 0 damage. Buff up and just pop Mirror Image. He'll attack them instead of you, plus you get a nifty DPS boost. When he gets near you, just blink away and pummel him.
Caution: I may have simply been lucky with him attacking my images instead of me, I did not try this strategy a second time.

67 feral druid solo. Not that hard had to heal twice. Used catform only.
The mirror images that mage use is a real lifesaver.

Soloed him today as a 66 MM hunter with gorilla pet. My gorilla took the brunt of the attacks, and I tried to stay about 10-15 yds away to avoid the charge he does. By spamming mend pet and steady shot I was able to Forrest Gump my way to killing him without dying or having to feign death.
I just stayed up on the ramp, no jumping down or anything.

As of 04/02/11, solo'd as a 65 Blood DK, hit DS when i could, bone shield, ghoul, etc. Was close, even with a pot and my Will of the Necropolis activating twice, still wound up with only 447 hp left.

Probably any shammy will not need this advice, but I soloed him today (level 67 Elemental Shaman) by having my Earth Elemental tank him. At one point he lost aggro but actually taunted the mob back off me. This mob hits hard and I had to heal myself; probably wouldn't have been able to do it without the elemental.
The cave opposite the one in which you find Corki is the one containing this mob; but it has two levels. You go through the lower level, past the water, and out the "back door;" then follow the path up (I didn't see the path at first and flew up looking for another entrance) and there is another entrance that will let you into the upper levels of the cave. Follow the obvious path along the ledges and you will come to Cho'war. As someone said earlier in these comments, pulling the warlock standing right next to him does not aggro Cho'war.

Soloed as lvl 66 frost mage with bad gear.
I used Molten Armor buff. Started the attack, casted mirror image + Ice Barrier, casted trinkets, Icy Veins, and bursted him with Frostbolts and Ice Lances. When my mirror image was over, he was at about 10% hp. I was able to recast Ice Barrier when other one was breaked down and was easy to get him down.

It seems no one has mentioned this yet, this guy is no longer elite and only has around 12k health. Not sure when this changed as I haven't leveled through Nagrand in quite a while.

I don't like how they just made every elite in Nagrand non-elite and so easily soloable. When I leveled my rogue they were still elite and rogue couldn't solo them lol. Now I need some challenges in Outland with my paladin! :c

Fun fact: Cho'war has a different weapon every time he respawns.
The only known NPC that does this.

This mob's pockets have been removed recently, likely to block glyph of disguise from copying him. I do not approve of this change, or any other change which lowers the game's fun level for that matter.
