Can't find any quests for this mob, but his tloc is 33,59... south of Zabra'jin.
Ungula also drops a Marshfang Slicer Blade, so is worth killing if you're on that quest.
Found around 33,59, drops "Count" Ungula's Mandible which begins a quest. Easy quest just turn in and get your reward.
Which leads to:
Definitely worth doing, possibly the easiest 3g I've made in a long time.
Ungula respawns quite fast, so make sure you loot and skin quickly, luckily I looted before another mob aggroed me, wasn't so lucky with the skin : /
go go gohuhui
Fast spawn time.. a rogue just hitted it before i did and i have been searshing him for 25 minutes now.
so does random enchant ( says on the iteams posted) mean that it gets an enchant on it randomly when you get it? or does it mean that you can do random enchants on it?
Lol, what a great reference to Count Dracula
He isn't dropping the quest item for me. Could it be because I'm level 70? Was hoping for some easy CE rep :(
Might sound obvious, but he's probably a reference to Count Dracula. It actually makes sense, since the quest from hiis mandible says that:
the count must've abandoned a diet of carrion in favor of living flesh
which could reference that vampires drink the blood of the living rather than eating the dead.
Found him by accident actually. Got a BoE blue and this wonderful quest =-)
i know its a marshfang slicer
but will it stay bigger then a standard nether ray when tamed?
Interesting but probably useless fact: 'ungula' is Latin for 'hoof'
Surely a refference to the old romanian legend of
This mob drops
"Count" Ungula's Mandible
wich is supposed to be a proof of his meal change. From beast's flesh to human flesh and blood.
As known in the legend
was killing thieves by pointing a really big prick in their backs. Those pricks are supposed to be "Count" Ungula's fangs.
Count Chocula? Nomnomnomnomnom...
lol spoof of Star wars
These nether Rays DO NOT come with mana drain after they are tamed. Their defense system is poor.
Killed him twice today but he does not seem to drop the quest item. Anyone else having this problem?
OMG! HE'S UGLY
No one seems to mention this, but this is a great looking pet!
Makes even the worst geared hunter look amazing! Worth getting in my opinion
Spawns every 5 minutes.
To any Hunters looking for rare pets, he does not retain his name after taming him unfortunately. His name goes beyond the pet character limit as well, also you can't rename him to Count Ungula without the quotations in the Count part for some reason since it's not allowed by Blizzard.
If you want Rare Nether Rays you're forced to use only two red ones:
Blackbog The Fang
at /way felwood 34.8, 59.6
at /way burning steppes 50.6, 60.6
He shares spawns with a pack of Marshfang Slicers in the area. If he isn't there, kill the pack and he will spawn instead of one of them.
Hunters: Retains original name after taming! <3 Quotation marks and all. :)
