The drum was there to interact with and summon the rare this morning as servers went live. It takes a few moments for the rare to fly down and become attackable and once it has been damaged enough it then becomes interactable for the riding event. From what I could see, all players could ride the Wilderling, even if they weren't present during the attack phase. After completing the riding event, I received
which did not contain the mount, but had some relic fragments, a Korthian Armament and a few grey items. You can then follow the NPC's all the way back to Keeper's Respite after the event, at which point they despawn with the Wilderling.
If you die, you rez on the other side of the Maw. When I got back I couldn't find my corpse. The rare was gone, and there was no marker for my corpse. But it was still there and I eventually found it by scouring the area.
Note that you should not hit the action key until immediately after it tells you to Hold On Tight! Somehow I got off cycle and it was never off c/d right after it said. But on my second try, if I pressed the action right after the warning, I got like 10-15% of the bar filled each time.
Interacting with the drum initiates a cast bar which summons the rare down. Once they're close enough, dps down to ~15%. At that point the fight ends and you can mouseover the wilding to mount them. Next is a short minigame that is timing based. 'Hold On Tight' whenever the rare has a burst of speed, the faster you do it the better your grade. Getting multiple 'Perfect's in a row results in a 'Hot Streak'. The reward is a
which I assume has a chance to drop the mount. As Nightfae, I also received a quest item for
Legend of the Animaswell
.. and here I was thinking that maybe, just maybe you could for once get a nice easy to obtain mount. Oh well, another to add to the daily slot machine of rng.
Do we know if non night fae's can get the mount?
Does anyone know if you have a chance at the mount if you arrived too late to fight it, but in time to ride and tame it?
Mount is the reward for this quest
Quest item can drop into you bag after completing the riding event
If you press the tame button multiple times as the prompt comes up, you can fill multiple pieces of the
Just a simple way to speed up the taming process.
Just posting to confirm a few things. I showed up late and did not engage the hostile version of Escaped Wilderling. I simply mounted, tamed, and the Wilderling Saddle appeared as a second item along with the lockbox, not inside. Given a quest to return to camp and received the mount!
When riding the Wilderling you can actually spam the 1 ability when prompted and the bar will fill up faster ;)
Does anyone know if this can be farmed more than once per day? I am night fae and today was the first day I tried to farm this. Worked fine the first time, but on subsequent attempts, I was unable to do the taming portion of the event, even if I was the one who hit the drum to start the event, so I got no reward or chance at the mount. Is this normal or a glitch?
The Night Fae mount (from renown) might be inspired by this one (colours included), since the NPCs hunting it are the 3 that help us on some Callings (Karras, Alvyni and Twinklewings).
Also, if you decide to hang around them, after 'taming' this wildling, you'll see them walking all the way to the base, towards the Night Fae place.
I got the mount item on a my hunter who's renown 3 with 0 campaign quests done
so no renown requirement to get the item
I know there is a lot of information here, but I wanted to make sure that I posted something for people to see a little more detail. The Alluring Drum can be clicked by Night Fae only and will summon the Escaped Wilderling. Once it comes down, you have to attack and get the health down to about 15% (if there are a lot of people it usually shows as 1%) and then it flies back to behind the drum where it should become rideable. You jump on and ride it to try to tame it. Every time it speeds up, you push the button to hang on.
There is a very small chance to get Wilderling Saddle, which is a quest to turn in for the Summer Wilderling mount.
You need to be Night Fae in order to have this drop. Each covenant has a different encounter. This one happens to be for the Night Fae, but everyone can ride on it and get a box with some small items in it.
I know that not everyone has had the chance to experience this rare encounter and there are always questions on how it works, so I went ahead and recorded the last time I tried for my mount. (With my luck, I'll be trying this for the next year! Haha)
Here is the link for the video:
I think it's a fun encounter, but it's such a bummer that we can't have it for everyone!
When done taming it. click the dismount button to return to the ground instantly, without waiting for it to land on it's own. Saves about 15 seconds.
The tame buff seems to have about a five second tolerance so if the button is on CD when the prompt goes up you have 2 seconds after CD to push it.
Suggest keep looking at the screen, the 'hold on' button always activates just before the burst of speed message on screen, so keep your finger on the button, eyes on the screen, and hit it every time the burst of speed message flashes up. Get hotshots every time. I've got the mount now, but after around 20 rides :)
