The absolute best strategy to defeat all pets, if you don't have a large roster or are new to pet battles, is to use an entire team of level one pets, as these pet world quests scale with your pet's level. When the pet is scaled to your level at level one, it loses most of its abilities and difficulty.

Iron Starlette P/P version: Wind-Up, Supercharge, Wind-up. It ended pretty close, so if Nightfang crits, you might have to restart.

2 Pets, Cerulean Moth for Call lightning, switch to Mechanical Axebeak, use decoy and haywire. Should be done.

Add: You can solo with Runeforged Servitor; Wind up, supercharge, wind up, call lightning.

For flying achievement version, replace the ion cannon pet with a 机械斧喙鸟 (x,2,x), and fill the 3rd slot with any flyer. Use 错乱 after 群殴. And of course all pets need to be level 25 to count for the cheevo.

So Nightfang's deal is that he gets prowl every turn, meaning -speed +damage. Meaning you want things that can dish out high damage and/or take advantage of being first and/or can resist damage.
Abilities like corgi's invul-swarm are ideal.

I'll share my totally non-ideal, spontaneous setup. Emphasis on non-ideal. I just had these on my list at the time (well except the skull, I had a leveling pet that I switched)
Ghostly Skull (aka poor man's Unborn Val'kyr)
Nexus Whelpling (this is the most replaceable)
Zandalari Kneebiter (decent but wastes a turn for the buff)

The fight happened this way:
Death Coil until you get the fatal hit with Ghost Skull and finish with Unholy Ascension.
Arcane Storm with Nexus Whelpling, then a Mana Surge. (you could probably just go mana surge at the first turn)
Do the Black Claw with Zandalari Kneebiter and finish with Hunting Party.

If you wanna be optimal, check the other posts out. But if you don't have the necessary pets, no worries, it's not that hard of a fight!

It might be slightly rng dependent from # of batters per round but you can probably finish him off easy with any secondary pet.

All flying:

Nightfang (NPC#173376)

1: Stormwing (1,1,2) Flock, Call Lightning (If Stormwing lives long enough) Rounds 1-4

2: Mechanical Axebeak (1,2,1) Haywire -- kills first round

3: Dusky Dredwing Pup (2,2,2) not needed

5 rounds.

If Strormwing dies before Call Lightning

Flock Rounds 1-3

Haywire 2 rounds, Peck Rounds 4-6

6 rounds.

Pretty efficient.

I used one of the Hatchlings (Snowfeather, Firebeak, Sharptalon, or Bloodgazer) and used
their Falcosaur Swarm!.

Just spam this with each pet and you'll kill him easily.

I used a couple lvl 1 mechanical pets.The first one in the lineup (a li'l bling/smackthat.exe) took Nightfang without issue. Just make sure all pets in your lineup are level 1, and it'll scale.

Completing the WQ with a lvl 1 carry gave me 870 XP, and increased the pet's level to 6. Started with the Darkmoon Zep to put down a decoy, swapped in then out carry, then killed Nightfang with my Tranquil Mechanical Yeti.
