The absolute best strategy to defeat all pets, if you don't have a large roster or are new to pet battles, is to use an entire team of level one pets, as these pet world quests scale with your pet's level. When the pet is scaled to your level at level one, it loses most of its abilities and difficulty.

Used Lost of Lordaeron, Zandalari Anklerenderer and Ikky. Same Rotation just replace haunt with shadowslash and continue to flock with ikky untill the pet dies.

Any flying pet with Glowing Toxin will run him through, bonus points if it has Scratch. Just simply keep the debuff up and you'll win quickly.

Even if the Rat die during the Gorgemouth Undead round, your Val'kyr is still alive to grant you victory!

I used Chitterspine Skitterling (x, Black Claw, Swarm) Poro (Scratch, x, Slow and Steady), and Giant Woodworm (Skitter, Burrow, Unstable Shield)

Start with Black Claw, then Swarm. If you are lucky it goes 3 rounds but 2 is fine. Pet will Die.
Poro comes in and uses Slow and Steady (BIG DAMAGE), then Scratch until pet or boss dies..
Giant Woodworm if needed. Shield, Skitter, Burrow if undead phase.

I used Unborn Valkyr, Nightmare bell, and Stunted shardhorn. Use curse of doom, spam
shadow shock til he kills pet to 1 hp and then use unholy ascension. With the bell, start with call darkness, spam shadow shock til you have 400hp then use dark rebirth another health bar to spam shadow shock. Once he kills Bell and you summon Stunted, use stampede it should end the creations life.

Carrot blistering cold, then fill until get second blistering cold - carrot dies
Kneebiter Blackclaw, hunting party. Kneebiter dies
Anklerender, i used Leap to finish him off and just wait until he does the undead dying thing

Unborn Valkyr + Stunted Shardhorn + One pet to get 2 or 3 hits.

Shadow Shock until almost dead, then curse of doom. Get killed by the enemy. In the 'bonus' round undead get, use unholy ascension.

In comes Stunted Shardhorn with Stampede: it causes 25% more damage because of UA AND it makes the enemy get double damage, including the curse of doom set up by the val'kyr. This should leave the enemy weakened enough to be killed in 1 or 2 hits by your third pet. Safest bet is probably an aquatic pet with critter abilities.

EDIT: probably any pet with stampede and high enough attack would work for this setup, since the effect is the same.

Iron Starlette:
Wind-Up -> Supercharge -> Wind-Up -> Wind-Up -> Wind-Up -> Iron Starlette died.

Chrominius:
Howl -> Surge of Power -> Gorgemouth died.

You could maybe skip howl if boss is low enough after the last wind-up.

If you have trouble with this guy, you can also solo him pretty easily with a lvl 1 Lightless Ambusher. It's an aquatic pet (takes less damage from undead) with Skitter (critter attack does more damage to undead).
I got mine pretty cheap on AH.

幼年瓦格里, 伊奇, & 意志之子 or perhaps another mechanical pet works.

1. Curse of Doom
2. Unholy Ascension
Val'kyr dies, put in Ikky
3. Black Claw
4. Flock
Ikky dies, put in Son of Animus
5. Interrupting Jolt
6. Touch of the Animus
7. Metal Fist until dead.

This will keep Son of Animus alive due to the jolt and the healing from Touch of the Animus at the end of the fight and gives you some leeway in the event that he does get killed and revives due to the mechanical pet passive.

Baa'l > Murder the Innocent, Gorgemouth resurrects.
Pass, Gorgemouth dies.

This strategy is quick, effective, and you can use this same lineup against most bosses and single-opponent fights.

Although Gorgemouth does not have the Boss buff, Explode ignores bosses that do have it because it deals percent-based damage. For the same reason, Baa'l is also valuable for his unique ability Murder the Innocent, which also deals percent-based damage, but doesn't kill him like Explode would. Baa'l is much more time consuming to obtain, but is an excellent third pet in this line-up. And because Netherspace Abbysals and Baa'l are both magic type, they have a built-in defense against high-damage boss abilities.

Baa'l is time-consuming to obtain, but worth it because he is currently the only battle pet with that ability. At the least, I highly recommend obtaining at least two Netherspace Abyssals that are H/H (higher health = more Explode damage) for single-opponent and boss fights with a strong third pet. Netherspace Abbysals can be found on the auction house for relatively cheap.

As in BFA, the pet battle world quests scale. If you are having trouble and want an easy mode version, use three level 1 pets and Gorgemouth will scale down. I picked three aquatic family pets -- at level 1, the boss has only a single attack, infected claw, which is undead and therefore weak against aquatic.

Started Iron Starlette with windup, supercharger, windup. Most likely you'll only be able to get off Toxic Smoke before it dies.
Ikky was the typical Black Claw and Flock until dead.
Benax saves the day by using Mudslide and then Tongue Lash until dead.

Took him out first try with:

Switch to 恐惧雏鸦, use 召唤黑暗, then 夜袭 and filler until 恐惧雏鸦 is dead. (boss was at 1500 hp)
Get 巫毒雕像 back in, 烈焰吐息 then 狂野魔法, keep him in until he is dead
Repeat the cycle with npc=63098], use 召唤黑暗, then 夜袭 and filler until boss is dead.

Just finished with Unborn Val'kyr, (Curse of Doom, Haunt) Ikky, (Black Claw, Flock) and Parasitic Boarfly (Poison Lash, Flurry, Drain Blood, repeat).
All are lvl 25 rares.

started with renewing mists from wader chick then just spam pump untill he dies
specimen next started witch crouch then just spam comeback untill you get hit without crouch reply by using vengence
malfunctioning can do much pretty anything at this point cuz boss is at around 700 hp

At level one his only ability doesn't do bonus damage against critters, so you're free to load up 3 level one critters against him for the damage bonus.

I beat him with two mechanical and one aquatic pet that had critter movesets (strong against undead). For me, the following worked well:

Specimen 97 (2, 2, 2)
Alloyed Alleyrat (1, 1, 1)
Barrier Hermit (1, 1, 2)

And just reiterating from other posts: make sure all your pets are the same level as each other -- whatever level you want -- because these pet bosses scale to your level!

Northern Hawk owl works very well. All the attacks hit and I almost finished Gorgemouth with just this one pet.

Undead team...worked once:

Unborn Valkyr - 1st, Curse of Doom, Haunt

2nd Ghost Maggot - Plagued Blood then Chomp, reapplying Plagued Blood.

3rd (Valkyr came back out, but) Spectral Raven - Call Darkness, Infected claw. Both died the same round.

Valkyr still had a little bit of health left.

I used 3x 1lvl Froglet (has upperhand ability) Zandalari anklerender and Ikky. Froglet died and Anklerender gone about 50% hp and easy Won! Ikky no needed use. Kinda neat it scale now

Fast Kill for Daily:

1. Chitterspine Skitterling (s/s): Cast Black Claw + Swarm
2. Pocket Canon: Flameshot x2, + Explode (must explode before he kills you to prevent him from healing)
3. 3rd pet which can take 350 damage. He will have less than 100 health and his undead extra life round.

Best pet to solo?
Level 1 Tonguelasher + any other level 1 pets who use critter attacks.
Tonguelasher is Aquatic type (takes less damage from the enemy) and it's main spell is Tongue Lash (critter type, deals extra damage vs the enemy)
