I couldn't solo him as a rogue, even with flasks and buffs, ilvl 151. His
Withering Roar
cast-time is so fast it's almost unstoppable and it keeps stacking. When he's low health, he's immune to stuns and blocks, and flatouts nukes you.

You have to interrupt or you won't be able to kill him. As a hunter I could get every other one but it was enough to let me kill him at 162 iLvl.

Didn't really find this too difficult. Solo'd as 147 Ret Pally. Interrupt his roar and don't get hit by his slam.

I tried this as a demo lock 161... A Felhunter doesn't count for interrupt. So That left me with Felguard. Which is a 30 second cool down... Got me nowhere.. I killed everything leading up to this boss and am still unable to kill it. Even with permanent fear, shadowfury (stun), and an interrupt he gathered stacks... I kept getting him to 20% and it just didn't happen.

Killed him as a MM Hunter, ilvl 146. Interrupt his roar, use a bear if you can. I also had a 10% damage reduction debuff. Keep your distance and if/when your pet dies, you'll have enough time to rez them and use growl before he does too much damage to you.

161 Frost Mage, Venthyr, Layer 3. Wasn't able to get him below about 25-30% each pull before he reached 10 stacks. I didn't get very lucky with anima powers throughout the run but still, he does hit very hard if he connects, and once he hits 10 stacks you have no chance.
He seems very strong compared to other equivalent bosses.

Got him on a 149 shadow priest on layer three. I used scream and horror on him on CD which helped make up for the long cd on silence. I also had
势不可挡
,
创伤天平

荣光祈祷
which helped a ton. He almost had me until power infusion came back up when he was at about 20% and after that he was toast. There are some really godly anima power combos in there for shadow.

While running away hoping for a couple more seconds on my crimson vial I realised he wasn't catching up. If you've taken edge lurker you can indefinitely run and wait for cooldowns, so my strat was to just fully reset, open up on him then around half hp retreat back to the edge, run in circles and repeat, quite cheese and only works if you've been graced with the edgelurker boy

His ground smash AoE seems to strike about 5 feet out of the visible range. Got hit by that at least twice despite not standing in the area. So just be aware of that.

I was able to kill it as frost mage ILVL 148/Ventyr solo on my 3rd try.
One of the animas I picked was summoning mirror image every time I cast Blink, so that was very helpful; as such, buying the Blink CD reducer from the vendor paired with it very well. Cast Frost Nova then cast the Ventyr damage buff (Mirrors of Torment) on CD while he is frozen. On my last try I pulled with MoT.
Will have to be very strategic about using Blink, proccing the Mirror Image buff, alternating with the actual Mirror Image spell. Also have to kite around the circle.
Mages, be careful where you blink though, you can jump off the circle portal and into the lava. He WILL follow you.
Also, I would recommend against picking the armament when releasing the ghosts as it only lasts 3 minutes. Instead, I recommend the extra 1% buff per ghost freed as I thought that was very helpful.
Stay max range at all times so that when you Blink, you're just about the opposite edge across.
Good luck, the entire run took me 68 minutes. As a squishy mage, had to be very careful with the trash. I saved all my deaths for the final boss. :)

I just soloed as a 150 Fury Warrior. Didn't have much problem at all. I let him get about 4 Withering Roars off, but still was doable. Just make sure you run out of his ground AoE as soon as you see it coming. Then charge back in!

So after 3 deaths I just managed to do this even as a 173 Survival hunter as at the start I let the stacks get a little bit high and my pet was taking serious damage and died at one point, the key is keeping the stacks as low as possible as at a certain %
Withering Roar
becomes uninterruptible so it’s imperative you blow what remaining cooldowns you have to bring him down before he does the same to you especially as
Withering Roar
will deal 10% of your health with each cast. Make sure to dive out when
Ground Crash
is being cast and keep moving when
Inferno!

This whole fight is strange. I'm doing it as a paladin and I've noticed that things just dont' respond as fast. if I try to use Divine Steed to get out of range of his ground stun, it magically doesn't respond the first time (but works flawlessly in absolutely all other situations) so it seems almost like the game server decided ahead of time that I was going to be stunned regardless.
As well, none of his visual cues or telegraphs are accurate. Everything hits far outside the range shown.

as 149 Assassination Rogue there was no way i could take him head on, so i resorted to very inelegantly kiting him around. Use kidney shot, run away waiting for Crimson Vial cooldowns, KS again, do what damage you can, run, rinse and repeat. Running down the stairs really helps because you're faster and have time to recover.

Soloed as 150 Ilvl Feral druid. I did luck out and get 3x The Entangling root anima (7k/tic) and 2x Convoke Spirit damage/heal for a 100% increase which helped IMMENSELY. Rooted x3, then stealth rake, 5 point rip. Interrupt his first Roar then hit him with a maim followed by a Convoke the Sprits. That alone took him to about 130k. Kited around a bit, rooted x3. 5 point Rip with a rake....kite a bit...3x root dead.

I managed to solo him as an iLvl 139 Kyrian Arcane Mage by kiting and pulling out all the stops (i.e. practically every trick and cooldown at my disposal). Frost Nova will root him so that bought me some time/space. The Kyrian covenant healing Phial boosted with the +25% anima power helped quite a bit. Misc anima powers for defense also helped. Mirror image will buy some time as well. And of course, I interrupted withering roar when I could, although, I did miss interrupting at least one or two of those which was a bit sloppy on my part.

I'm guessing I got a little lucky with a few things (as a ret pally):
Middling to okay anima powers (still salty I couldn't find the maw rat health buff early on, that would have made this much easier)
On my final (successful) attempt I finally was able to interrupt two of the withering roars. I think that's the only reason I survived, even though they have the fastest cast time known to man. In the first few attempts I thought I could get away without interrupting them since they were so quick. I was turned into a wrong smear on the floor.
I'm with Bastion, so my Divine Toll was upgraded to stun enemies, so I had two stuns at my disposal
Swolekin potion, lay on hands, word of glory to heal myself in a pinch
I could kite without too many issues/use divine steed to run away

Nothing really to it, keep your distance - Used the blueberry that had 50% extra hp (2 x of the anima) and 1 x 25% damage.

As an MM hunter i was able to get him down lvl 8. keeping in mind that im using a ferocity pet, so i do lose some dps, but its all about staying away and allive on this one.
as soon as i pulled i popped the pets heroism and tryd to keep it topped up ( wich ofc fails during the fight).
when the pet was way to low on hp i used my exhiliration to insta full heal it again.
just before it died i had dropped a tar trap and did a concussive shot, plus i disengaged to get more room between me and him. got my pet back up then popped my trueshot aura.
when all this was done the pet died again, so i repeated the previous steps, but popped a haste trinket. also, as hunter you can briefly trap him in an freezing trap. this will only last a second, but it all helps in the end.
another thing i tryd was when the pet was on low hp was to call it back to me and use mend pet, while i had aspect of the cheetah on, thus kiting him away from pet while it was healing.
a couple of things stand out for me as an MM *!@#$%^:
-use mend pet on cd
-use exhiliration when pet is about to die
-disengage tar trap/concussive shot to try to get your pet back up
-MD when the above is done ( goes without saying tbf)
-if possible, call your pet to you and start kiting for a few seconds, it prolongs the pets life. <- this is a trick i have been using since BC when i was a @#$%^&* and pulled more than i could kill. just make sure to slow everything down that is hunting you if your FD is on cd.
hope this helps some of the MM hunters out there that find it difficult do down him.

I know this isn't relevant to the people struggling but more a reminder of how random Torghast is. I got terrible anima powers through the whole run and due to some bad luck with the previous flametenders I was already down two deaths. I got lucky though and bought the common anima power that makes you immune to damage for 90 seconds and was able to just nuke him.

How is this even fun? I was able to beat this guy on my Arcane Mage and Enhanced Shaman, barely. But no way on my rogue, I'd get him to 20% or so then he'd one shot me at full hp. I can't even imagine trying to do this on something like a spriest.
Who wants to spend all this time running Torghast and then get to the end and not have a chance of beating it?
Utter garbage design.
Edit: this has changed now. With the latest patch they made it so these bosses don't go back to full HP when you die.

Killed him on layer 8 as holy priest, ilvl 197, using the following tactics. The debuff from the dungeon really helped here - I waited until the catharstick was powered up to max before I pulled and then I ran away, healed myself with instants and spammed Shadow Word: Pain until he died.

Really bad design Torghast, spend ages to get to last boss (for no reward) and then hit a brick wall boss like this. Tried this, only on layer 4, wasn't lucky with anima i got and my ilvl was just under 170. I managed everything else fine but there was no way to kill this at my gear level.
They should put the harder bosses at end of layers 7 or 8, i also think they should give guidance as to what ilvl gear you will need to progress. Such a shame as the expansion is good but this design is terrible.

iLvl 181 Shadow Priest running level 4 of Soulforges when I got this ... this thing.
Among other anima powers the ones that seemed to help most were Fragments of Obscurity, Mask of Sheer Terror, Refilling Elixir of Life, and Volatile Phantasm - and still took 4 tries before I got him down.
Priests can't run for jack ... ended up using Psychic Scream early, then Psychic Horror, Fade, and Dispersion in order to run out the clock to get a second Psychic Scream off during the fight. Dispersion worked well once he goes to do the knockout punch that most people here aren't getting by - it happens close to 40s into the fight. I hit that and managed to get myself unstunned and out of the way. After that it was just surviving until I could do the Scream thing again and a lot of praying.
If I didn't have the Fade buffs thou I think I would still be there as you really need that extra distraction to get to the 1 minute cool down on Psychic Scream. Normally I skip the fade buffs but for some reason this time I figured I would try it and see if they helped or not. They definitely helped since Mindbender doesn't have any agro worth much as a distraction other than as a first move. For higher levels I think I'm taking this anima power from now on if its offered.

Prot paladin, solo, item level 195. Killed this guy solo on level 8 of the Soulforges.
Definitely a dance-interrupt type fight. Must dodge the ground crush, it is a big AOE and does very heavy damage so start running as soon as you him cast it (or stun.) The stacking Roar buff he casts was easily interrupted, he never got it off when I fought him. Did not kite, just walked in & out of AOE and kept hammering away (literally.)

Killed on level 7 as a 171 Marks Hunter. Didn't have crazy powers; things I took advantage of include: A power that healed me every time I attacked a new target (didn't help on boss, but made the dungeon much easier); a lot of stacks to crit and versatility; was offered 10 souls twice and took it both times (having by the end 35% bonus agility is very nice); increased my turtle's dps by 100% every time I misdirected; aspect of the turtle didn't prevent me from attacking (helped to get time to res pet if I needed and close out the fight).
I pulled about 5k dps throughout the fight.
Space outside the range of his ground slam; Mend Pet basically every time it runs out. Use Exhilaration early when you need the quick heal. Survival of the Fittest probably shortly after when his damage is getting high.
Have counter shot ready for his shout. It's a quick cast so you'll need to be prepared. I found it USUALLY came after inferno, but it was definitely not always consistent. I did not hit every counter in my successful attempt.
Dodge inferno (obviously). I found out the hard way that it still hits you inside of AoTurtle. You can counter this with freezing trap if the mood strikes you but it isn't necessary. Inferno should be the only thing that causes you to move after you've got your position. Don't start an Aimed Shot when you know it's coming soon, you'll have to cancel it if he starts casting.

This guy is not a bear tank friendly boss. I was iLevel 182 in Layer 6 with some great anima powers while he has 380k hit points (could not kill him at layer 5 either with 340k.) The problem for me was his stacking Unnatural Power which basically acts like an enrage timer. I could interrupt his Withering Roar and run out of Ground crush but could not dps him down quickly enough to avoid that 'enrage'. And I had the anima power which heals me every time I switch to cat ( to run out of ground crush) and then back to bear. At some point his Unnatural Power means he can outrun my cat and whack me at the same time. Got him down to 10-15% several times so its close but I will never attempt this boss again.

You can use Boom of the Ascended (Kyrian) to start or hit him with Void Bolt and then run and keep casting SW: Pain and keep hitting PW: Shield if you have Body and Soul talent. I ran around the circle then ran down the stairs, he is slow, so you can self-heal, cast Mind Blast or something. He catches up but I kept going up and down the stairs, lol...I got him, it wasn't easy. Just keep running and casting!

Managed to down this guy on my 162 ilvl BM hunter, layer 3. The key to him is interrupting Withering Roar whenever you can. Don't worry about interrupting EVERY one, at least every other will work. I didn't even bother with my CDs, just focused on keeping my pet's health up and interrupting between DPSing. Took me four tries to get him. Might be easier on your pet if you use a Tenacity pet, but I've been using Vulpine pretty much since I got to Ardenweald and they stayed up fine with Mend Pet and an Exhiliration.

Fairly easy fight as ilvl 151 destro lock on layer 3. Most of my anima powers centered around buffing and increasing the number of my demons, including
地狱亲和契约
making for a little blueberry powerhouse, and offsetting the Torment: Soulforge Heat debuff.
I sent my blueberry after it, hit him with like half a second of
血渍匕首
to give him the damage taken reduction, cast Cataclysm, summoned two infernals thanks to
黑暗低语印记
, conflag X2 and then just chaos bolts/conflag/chaos bolts/decimating bolt/incinerates (with
灵魂之尘背包
x2). I dodged his fire drops, and didn't bother interrupting his Withering Roar, since I wasn't in his radius.
Powers used to offset the stupid Torment: Soulforge Heat debuff:
秘制香料
虚空蚀刻护身符
Pop a healthstone and receive 50% increased healing, which I used for Drain Life. By level 5 I was using drain life on almost every NPC and went through the food rations in my bag like they were going out of style.
奥伯勒隆之耐
x2
I had a few other relatively standard powers increasing stats, soul shard generation, etc. I pulled just under 6k dps. It was a pretty short fight thanks to my chonky little blueberry of doom.

ilvl 200 Spriest. Another one of those crazy bosses that idk what blizzard was thinking. The only way I was able to beat him was with some crazy RNG with my buffs. My power word shield did 150% of the damage taken as reflect, I got 6 catharsticks, so I did another 120% of damage taken to the boss when I casted shadow word pain, and on top of that my power word shield would shield me for another 40% of my maximum HP, which was 120k. I also happened to get extremely lucky and got the ability that greatly empowers your jumps. Throughout the fight I just spammed jump and the 2 abilities mentioned above. The boss had 3.6 million health. I did 2 million with the stick, 500k with the shield reflect, and the rest was assorted abilities I could weave in. The only possible way to beat the boss shouldnt be stacking 300% reflect damage and running in circles. That's just dumb design.

90 anima powers
61 Soul Remnant's Blessings
Running Night Fae for the Convoke ability.
Even then he almost 1 shot me 6 times.
I did miss 2 interrupts due to dodging his inferno when my HP was low..
I do not think this would have been a possible fight to solo without the
Disemboweler's Hook
and the
Negation Well
anima powers.
Even as fast as I was damaging him by the time I got him to 12% his auto attacks were hitting me for 35% HP
I pretty much got to where I would wait for him to cast inferno and try to burst with +15% dmg growl and Convoke after popping my defensives and then either Stampeding Roar out away from him or Jump away if I thought I had room with the
Negation Well
anima power.

To any Rogues stumbling across this page to figure out how to approach this encounter here is how i have managed to defeat this Boss at The Twisting Corridors Layer 8 Floor 18:
This Boss had 10.000k Health and hit me for roughly ~130k with each meele swing which made this fight almost impossible, however, there is a way for us to cheese this encounter.
It is absolutely mandatory to have 3x
整洁的药瓶袋
in combination with
水银混合物
in order to spam
猩红之瓶
to proc a 6 second
闪避
.
I used
减速药膏
to have an easier time kiting the Boss so i could spam
猩红之瓶
to fish for
闪避
2-3 seconds before it ran out since any meele hit could kill me.
It is worth mentioning that
水银混合物
does NOT grant you any of the listed buffs you're missing so it is possible to get
暗影斗篷
or
佯攻
multiple times in a row without getting
闪避
. It's safer to start spamming
猩红之瓶
early to guarantee a 100%
闪避
uptime. I would also recommend taking the
装死
Talent to act as a Fail-Safe so you can
消失
, wait for
装死
cooldown to reset and go again giving you potentially unlimited tries.
Your highest priority is to keep
闪避
up at all times, interrupt his
枯萎咆哮
, dodge his other abilities and doing damage while Evasion is up.
You might want to set up a weakaura to track the duration of
闪避
which made it easier for me to know when to spam
猩红之瓶
again.
All in all this Boss Encounter at Floor 18 with only 120k HP made this fight extremly tedious for me since any meele swing from this guy could end me and you're basically required to have a specific Anima Power combination. However, it is possible!

so while annoying as he speeds up as he goes, as long as you interrupt withering roar, the other abilities are avoidable.

This fight just isn’t fun or fair for melee classes. I have ran into the boss just twice and both times 6 quick wipes literally in seconds each wipe. Tonight I came in cocky hitting 190 ilevel earlier in the day and thought sure I could take him but he humbled me in about 45 seconds & 6 wipes later! I can’t get a Heroic Leap off fast enough to get out of the ground AOE stomp which cuts your health in half and then the torment Soulforge Heat: 7-8% health drained every 5 seconds drains you ASAP. Somebody didn’t calculate the math of the torment damage once his ground AOE gets you. Ugggh!

iLvl 190 Prot Pally, solo the boss running Tower of the Damned Floor 18, on my quest run.
Definitely need to interrupt every chance you have and keep the boss dazed.
I entered Fl 18 with 92 Anima Powers and 207k HP. Died twice before I was able to kill the boss.
I think it sort of go berserk under 30% HP, I noticed the damage done to me increased.
Save any immunity skill you have until last moment.
I ran around and healed myself back up and when he was 10% I popped Divine Shield and dps as fast as I can.
The last quest item for Signs of the Lion (locating intel on Anduin) is on the boss, I think it was a necklace.
The fight/damage could be somewhat bugged, they might need to nerf this boss a bit, especially if he appears on questline.
Can't remember how much HP the boss started with, but was in the millions.
I guess Blizz scale the boss up depending on your Anima Powers.

As a Fire Mage, I gave up on this repeatedly in prior efforts. In my last, I chose and used the Anima Power giving me 850% damage on my first Flamestrike on a floor. I started with it as my first hit. Seemed incredibly easy after that. So watch your choices in Anima Powers.

I get the 2 million HP even at level 1 but some of the bosses in here have such ^&*!@#ed mechanics and this is regardless of the powers you have. It should be a challenge and dare I say fun, but when the odds are clearly not stacked in your favour then none of those are to be had. Why bother thinking yeah, if I go again and get an easier boss next time, maybe I'll try level 2. Back to just doing Torghast for the remaining Soul Ash and that's it. Twisting Corridors can go do one. I get there are players out there who will steam roller the place and good on you but for the lower levels of this place a little bit more thought ought to be put into stuff.

He may have been nerfed (if so, GOOD), but this is what worked for me:
THIS IS A KITING FIGHT.
Do not stick around, do not stand toe to toe, do not pewpew from a distance from one spot.
I DID NOT HAVE TO INTERRUPT; I JUST KEPT HIM MOVING.
You must hit with whatever DOTs you have, and keep moving.
Pop self-heals, drink a potion, whatever it takes to stay alive, but KEEP MOVING AWAY, aside from an occasional dart inward to hit-and-run again.
I was able to solo on my rogue by reading through all the comments and just kitting and dotting with poisoned fan of knives, self-healing, and occasionally smacking him with my Rupture (DOT assassination ability).
...Admittedly this was a layer 1 floor 6 Twisting Corridors, not super impressive, but he only stunned me once before I was able to get away again.

I've been having a nice time with my balance druid. So far it has been very easy. That is until I found this big fellow at level 8 floor 18. Granted I didn't have the Lynara's Sash that maybe would have made it possible.
The main issue is that this boss is not kitable even as cat, it runs with the same speed of a cat. Only with Tiger Dash I managed to get some distance. And even with more than 77% damage reduction (25% Dark Fortress + 20% Moonfire + 20% Barkskin + 12% Bear affinity) the autohits alone bring you to 20% HP (I had around 270k hp). It had 14M hp so I would need 2333k dps to burn it down in a single convoke.
I manage to stay alive longer by jumping down the stairs and running back up but eventually the autohits alone killed me. Maybe I should have used Mass Entanglement that is instant but in the stress of running I didn't plus it breaks fast with all the dots. Not sure how diminished returns works on these bosses.

This boss is a NIGHTMARE. I did this with a friend (we were both shadow priests) and we were unable to kill it on twisted corridors 4, last boss. I had 240k HP and he would charge at me and kill me instantly which was unavoidable. We both had the fade illusion power which summons an image to stop us getting agro and allow us to escape danger. We were both using this and he was still killing us easily. We followed all the mechanics and still unable to kill him so we wasted almost 3 hours doing this and got his boss so the whole run was a waste of time. I see by the other commenters that this boss has been a nightmare for others too. Very disappointing. I turned the game off after this after feeling so angry for wasting all that time FOR NOTHING! Very bad game design

I was able to solo as a 177 BM Hunter, took two tries. First time I got him down to about 10% before he one shotted my pet and then one shotted me. Second time I was able to blow all the CD's just a bit longer into the fight and kept the healing up on my pet constantly, everytime mend pet was off CD. Also nice that all CD's reset when you die, so starting over gives you all the abilities back plus the repair guy is right there so you can fix your armor before trying again. FWIW, interrupts did next to nothing in this fight for me, I just had to constantly move to avoid the spheres and purple death he kept spawning.

ilvl 195 unholy dk and this boss wiped me, i wasnt able to get the ravenous cell which was already a recipe for disaster, but i managed to get to the final floor with only 1 death.....5 deaths in a row, this boss is disgustingly overtuned vs melee, ground smash needs a much longer cast time, 1 second for a 65k ability is far too quick

L3 soulforges, VDH, ilvl 140. Wasn't sure I will be able to beat him, but I did. The key were the smoke bombs from the vendor, interrupting deathly roar when ever possible, and staying out of all of his AOE's

my guardian with balance affinity and heart of the wild got him on floor12 or torghast level 1, convoke put him down in about 4 seconds. Level 1 is easy, but sill, how satisfying.... :)

On my second try, he blasted me into the lava and I climbed into a dry area and kept spamming all my abilities to him and he went down almost immediately. I was a balance druid at item level 162. That was weird. It felt like the easiest boss figh ever that way. I don't know what happened. First try was like few hits and I wen't down.

I am completely fed up with running into this guy and Patrician Cromwell as my layer 8 TC final bosses. Just constantly getting one or the other.
He 2 shots my 1.5 mill hp Felguard immediately stripping the 500% bonus hp and damage off him for any further attempts. even avoiding the fire and staying out of range of the roar, he just charges right at me and then one-shots me even with cc cd used before my instant resummoned felguard can regain aggro.
Screw this guy. He's definitely on my list of instant leave if he shows up in the broker boss preview 3 floors before.
Will be so glad when I can finally get lucky and have a conjunction of RNG where I get decent defensive powers offered and DON'T get stuck with an overtuned broken brick wall of a final boss. Once I get my mount never setting foot in TC again.

Definitely not fun to waste time - one death climbing (pulled to many!) only to get this turd on Layer 3/Floor 12. That my Felguard is full health and then 2 shot dead from him is annoying - I took no damage until the Felguard went down (had extra Demonic Tyrants on shorter cooldown (for some reasons their initial attack was getting an "immune" from the turd too!).
First layer had great RNG - Felguard almost 1m health, same on the second - thought well Blizz did adjust some of this, it's actually not horrible.. ha ha ha.
Third layer, nothing special anima abilities should have been a clue (maybe 100K health on the Felguard), so knew it might be difficult, but when 12 floors are doable - you don't expect death upon death upon death with the boss after it's supposedly fixed. Up to this guy, the Felguard never died either. It was bad RNG, but what a waste of time....
Future reference if I don't have a ton of health on the Felguard in the first few floors or see this guy - quit and do another time - better than climbing a few more levels to just get beat up. RNG can seriously ruin the fun.

This is still one of my most hated Torghast "bosses" I ran across him sometime ago on main, a Blood DK, and he was the only one that at the time I wasn't able to get passed. Just ran into him again with my MM Hunter in Soulforges Layer 3 and after purchasing extra lives just in case, I barely finished. His withering roar is so damn quick (I was able to interrupt maybe 3 of the casts) and it stacks but can't be dispelled.
The only thing that got me through this on my Hunter was constant movement but I had to be careful because twice he threw me into lava with his ground pound. I also popped my exhileration and aspect of the turtle as much as possible and kept my pet healed or revived. In between shots. Also feign death helped me reset the fight when I had popped all my CD's and was near death, so I didn't lose a life. I can understand why I had such a hell of a time on DK though, really any melee class would, he is definitely a ranged class boss. Especially good for those with pets that can take aggro.

The only viable strat for this dude is by kitting, interrupting, and running away.

200 Ilvl Unholy DK. Almost every instance gives you early choices that the vendor before the last boss does not. I always buy at least 2 smoke bombs and go for every interrupt reduction if it is offered. I also go for every self heal offered, and every extra talent offered. I never have a problem finishing these. If all you go for is more dps you will just die from the environment and use all your deaths up. I also group up with a mage somewhere prior to entering so I have 80 uses of quick heal food. In soulforges I use at least 15 to 20 of them.

On a bm hunter just couldnt do, not enough interrupts. Its bosses like this that make torghast just feel pointless. Spent like 2 hours clearing the dungeon only to be met with an impossible boss. They need to give the end vendor more epic upgrade purchase options.

Having read the comments, I was really scared to try him as a 193 BM hunter who had trouble all the way up the tower with accidentally pulling extra elites. I'd gotten down to 0 deaths left and with some crafty Feigns and buying extra deaths from the vendors, I managed to finally get to him. He was easy with a tenacity pet (I used Terrorpene) - I'd picked some misdirection dps boosts and some Hunter's Mark boosts so I just put my mark up, MD'd, and strafed left to right while out of range of his melee attacks. Just make sure you don't strafe into another fire on the floor ;)

If you're melee with no speed boosts and are having trouble getting away from his Ground Crush, try to position yourself sightly sideways instead of facing him head on. This allowed me to repeatedly run away in time when interrupts / stuns were on cooldown. It might be just me being an old timer with slower reflexes and not reacting to his loading the skill fast enough, but the fraction of second helped enormously. I haven't been slammed by his aoes since.

I stumbled upon an annoying issue as a MM hunter today (layer 12).
I had 3 stacks of the Chelonian Crest power (which allows you to keep attacking while under Aspect of the Turtle).
I wanted to take advantage of my burst CDs that had just become available, triggered the aspect and ... got OS by his Ground Crush a few seconds later (200k+ dmg).
I don't know if it's a bug, but be careful if you plan on using a similar tactic.

Just a heads up, don't rely on the ground animation for his smash attack, literally just lost a flawless run because the graphic didn't show up until the cast was like 80% done. I guess that's my bad for expecting spell graphics to work correctly.

Floor 18 and guess who! 211 BM Hunter. I could not keep my pets alive. He would one two them faster than I could mend. Then when they were dead he was on me before I could get off a revive. Tonight he could move! Ice traps didn't even slow him down. Must have been a bad night. 2 hours of mind numbing, soul leeching Torghast and nothing to show for it except a repair bill.
When I've encountered him in the past, I could usually eek by. Not tonight. I don't think he needs to be nerfed, he just needs to be more consistent.

I had good luck as an warlock with Felhunter pet, because it can interrupt spells. I had to kite the giant myself though.
