Part of the Bug Trio, which is an optional boss encounter between Skeram and Sartura in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
Besides a standard melee attack, ~1000 on tanks, Yauj has a ranged AOE fear that wipes aggro even if mitigated with Fear Ward, Berserker Rage or Will of the Forsaken. This fear can make you go out the door and can have the 3 of them reset. Therefore, the strategy to beat Yauj is to tank her as far as you can from the main raid. Also, when you have started to kill her, she will cast a self-heal that needs to be interrupted. Since the last patch, Yauj seems to heal the other 2 bugs as well, regardless of which one you kill first, significantly increasing the difficulty of the encounter.
The universal strategy to tank Princess Yauj is to use two tanks on her. AoE fear is casted every 20 seconds. So the tank who is not currently tanking Yauj before fear uses berserk rage and taunts Yauj when she tries to flee after AoE fear. Then this tank becomes main tank, and the tank who was previously tanking Yauj steps back and waits for the next fear. This way Yauj may be tanked on one position for the whole fight without much trouble.
The taunt may resist when the berserker raged tank tries to pick her up, and due to her high movement speed he will usually be unable to pick her up for quite a long time. For this reason it may be beneficial to have an extra tank standing ready in the middle of the room, outside the range of the AoE fear and close to the majority of the raid (to maximize the likelihood that Yauj will run somewhere close to this tanks position).
Horde side strategy: Searing totem sometimes stops the Princess for a while after she fears. Putting searing totems around her can be helpful for saving healers.
Death Special: Several small bugs spawn. They can be crowd controlled by almost any method such as fear, stun, or frost nova.
The heal she casts is interruptible by abilities such as the Death Knight's Mind Freeze and the Rogue's Kick. She is, however, immune to stun and silence effects, so abilities such as the Tauren's War Stomp and the Death Knight's Strangulate will have no effect on her.
Am i the only one who found it amusing she uses ravage? An ability used by low level beast mobs in some starting areas? It's level 6 too.
@ Lind: Princess Yauj, her Beetles, Vem, and Lord Kri (along with Huhuran later on in the raid) are all tameable in Cata. They retain the boss tag.
In AQ 20 (soon to be 10) Buru and Ayamiss will be tameable too
For those interested in this pet, yet unable to get a group for AQ 40,
Harakiss the Infestor
is your answer. Same model and color.
Managed to solo tame
today and solo
Would Really the same concept if you're taming a different one other than
My strategy was Spirit Beast for
Go up to the top of the platform and Feign Death behind the Pillar in the back right, make sure your pet stays up on the top and just do
when it's off CD, also have
on autocast, takes roughy 6 - 7 minutes for your pet to kill
.. May take a few tries, but you'll get it. :)
Now for the trash leading to the Trio.. I recommend using a Turtle(or Beetle) with this
Now once you're at the trio simply run in and use a
Potion of Speed
and begin Taming.
Once this is done you can simply run out of the room and the they'll reset, congratulations on your new pet. :)
It has been fixed a couple of days ago, but shortly after "The Shattering" (patch 4.0.3a), Princess Yauj in her tamed version retained her healing skills and was immortal. I accidentally found this out whilst using her in a wotlk random heroic and the party wiped but whilst I was Feigning Death and waiting for her to die, she simply didn't. Every time she went down to hp 1 and couldn't go any lower, instantly healing herself up for almost completely full health. Of course this proved to be quite useful to solo certain encounters and even though I kept silent, Blizzard of course found out and quickly hotfixed it. :)
Still, it was a fun two weeks with an immortal pet!
I just solo tamed Princess Yauj in AQ40.
I went in in my BM spec and used my Jorgumar to solo kill the Prophet boss. Basically, I stayed far, far away from the prophet and just feigned death on the splits and ordered my Jorgumar to attack the splits, etc until the Prophet was dead.
On the tame... well... I cleared all the trash in the chamber then dismissed my pet.
I targetted Princess and then immediately popped, Potion of Speed, then Deterrence and then Tame Beast. The tame LITERALLY finished a microsecond before I was knocked into the air and interrupted. It's a tight, tight window but do-able only with the haste buff from the potion.
Now I have a very cool looking Boss Silithid and a nice story to tell :) Much more exciting than camping the same skinned rare in Tanaris (LOL)
The bugs can be done solo but not by me.
Check the link for a video guide explaining how you can solo Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (aq40). Around 250gold in loot, bug mounts and reputation with Brood of Nozdormu in 1 or 2 hours time.In the video you will find a guide forThe Prophet Skeram, Battleguard Sartura,Fankriss the Unyielding and Princess Huhuran. For other information on the bosses see the description.
Nobbel 85 Paladin
Managed to solo this as a 85 enhancement shaman draenei. Took me 6 minutes 45 seconds, almost died several times and had to use both elementals, the wolves several times and heroism.
I soloed this one, after several frustrating attempts I will admit. The trick that I focused on was to down Yauj first. Seeing as she heals herself and it is interruptible. Obviously if you have attempted this, it isn't as easy as getting an interrupt off. Feared every 10 seconds for 6 seconds and stunned for two seconds. Meanwhile she is healing about every 12 seconds, it is hard to time it out some of the times when you are getting feared, stunned, and not to forget the getting launched across the room. (Numbers may not be specific but you will know what I mean when you try) I did this as retribution spec and just kept running at her until finally I got her. As Zach Galifianakis would say "It's all uphill from here" and it is cake to kill the other two. Just be wary of the spawns after Yauj dies and the little one likes to hit you high up and take fall damage. Good Luck and remember, it can be done.
Okay, just soloed this on my frost mage after a lot of frustrating attempts.
Started the fight with mana shield, mage armor (reduced fear duration) and Ice Barrier up, then went full nuke on Yauj, coldsnapping straight away and getting two Deep Freezes on her before she feared. Use the PVP trinket when you're feared to be prepared to counterspell her heal, once she's dead it's pretty much a cakewalk from there. Pop your mirror images early too, so you're not the main target for the knockback, once she's dead switch to frost armor, keep up mana shield and ice barrier. If you're stunned, blink it. If you're knockbacked, hit slowfall, don't blow your blink because you'll need it for the stun to get a counterspell off (think Halfus Wyrmbreaker / shadow novas during furious roar.)
A lot can go wrong, so just try not to cry when it does.
I recommend glyphed frost barrier and evocation, so you can heal up mid-way through the fight.
If you're spec'd for improved blink, leg it, hit iceblock and cancel it straight away to remove the poison DoT and try to get a tick or two of a bandage off.
It should be noted that Yauj retains the boss status after being tamed.
Hands down the most annoying solo fight I've ever done. Gotta kill this bug first and will get angry. Its fear/stun/throw and sometimes they overlap. Time it right so that you only get off fear/stun to cancel her heal. In my case I save my tremor totem for when she's about to cast the heal and for the 2nd time I use my Insignia of the horde. With the right speed you can down her.
Just solo'd this trio on ilvl 353 Enhance Shaman. The trick is to down this bug first. The best way to do it is by sending out your earth elemental to distract the other two and keep hitting this one to get his aggro..kite him away from the others and interrupt his heals, give it some time and he will die..then hit Kri, then Vem..use your wolves and maelstrom wep for self heals if you get low. It's doable :)
(P.S.. as for the fears..I used tremor and insignia also to get out of those. And if you think hugging a wall for those knockbacks works..it doesn't. You have to distract Vem and Kri with your elemental or their poison, knockbacks, and Yuaj's fear will keep you from landing any blows)
just soloed this encounter, VERY FRUSTRATING, but in the end i did it
as a dk blood spec , dps gear ilvl 348
a good tact is to pop lichbane when ur feared
Piece of cake as a retribution Paladin. I popped AW and GOAK as I engaged, and focused on Princess Yauj. I used pvp trinket to against the first fear, interrupted her heal the best I could, and had her killed in a bit over 20 seconds. If you get lucky with the Divine Purpose procs it should be even quicker. From then it was just a matter of killing other two.
Attention Hunters who attempt to solo this encounter: Be CAREFUL if you use a "Tame" strategy to get rid of this mob. If you die, the encounter WILL NOT RESET and will remain in progress.
Just solo'd this as a feral druid tank. Here was my strat:
I targeted Yauj cause you have to kill 1st with her heal. I pounced and mangled/rake/rip quickly to get the stacks on her, and I skull bashed cat to interupt her heal. Then right after I berserked and burned her down very very fast. I only got one fear in this time so you gotta be really quick to burn her. It would also help to have a pvp trinket to get out of that 1st one and then finish burning her, but you have to get all heals. Your skull bash is off CD before she heals again, so get it then its pretty much GG. You kill adds that come, then burn Lord Kri and then finish Yew. Fairly easy boss but it took me like 4 attempt of resetting to do it. If you miss one heal then reset it and try again. It takes a bit to get lucky to burn her with just 1 fear, most time I got 2-3 fears since they are 20 sec apart, but you can do it. Just do this strat. My gear is 2 set pieces, rest 359 raid gear and heroic blue weapon/relic. I did have alchy 80 ag flask on with ag/stam food and a inscription stam scroll just for sure. So good luck and GG
Not possible to solo as an arcane mage - this bug heals for about 100k every few seconds, and also does a fear every few seconds with no DR. Fear hits the player + mirrors every time. As well as the fears and heals, Vem constantly charges, also knocks you back across the other side of the room out of range of the bugs, and also stuns you constantly (these are 3 different attacks). So as a solo player you will be CC'd in one way or another 90% of the time - after mirrors finish, you'll be CC'd 100% of the time. Best I managed was to get her to 22k - at which point I was again chain stunned, then feared, then knocked back, then charged, then feared, then stunned again etc and she healed up to 120k, then 220k a few seconds later.
As others have said, if she gets even one heal off it's all over - so for a mage it means bursting her down in about 10 seconds and hoping you don't get hit by one of about 5 abilities (very unlikely). Like all the other fights, melee classes can probably solo this easily.
Was able to solo this as a sub rogue in all Vicious PvP gear except for the Fluid Death trinket. I tried this fight twice as assassination in PvE gear but was having a hard time dealing w/ the fears and knockbacks going off back to back consistantly.
As sub shadowstep was a huge help in getting back to Yauj before she could get a heal off. Also shadowdance damage helped to get her down fairly quick along w/ mind-numbing poison to slow those cast times a bit. After Yauj is down, Vri and Vem are very simple, just aoe the little adds that spawn on each bugs death.
Came here hoping to see the order you need to kill these guys in to get specific drops from them. I would assume that if I wanted something off Yauj, it would have to die last?
Really not a bad solo fight at all for an 85 Shadow Priest. (yay dots) It may have been overkill but I did glyph
Power Word: Shield
and started the fight with 20 seconds left on Fear Ward (so that I could recast it quickly). Just Fade and let your Shadowfiend tank it at first while burning down Princess Yauj until she's dead. Situate yourself with your back against a wall and the knockbacks aren't too bad. You should be able to keep your instant dots up on the other two and throw in Mind Flay whenever possible. Bubble on cd of course. I don't think my health dropped below 75% the whole time. Vem (the little guy) was the last to die and I had a nice reward for transmogrification with
Robes of the Triumverate
Tried this earlier around the lower 80s and just couldn't DoT enough and the general confusion was well, confusing, preventing me from soloing it. Came back at 85 (Fury Warrior) and after a few attempts to figure out the best order, I gave it a shot with the Princess first.
While she only got off one or two heals, I did interrupt her the other times and Berserker Raged almost on schedule every time Fear came up. While a very frustrating fight all in all, it wasn't too hard once the princess died. Woo!
There was an exploit some Beast Mastery hunters used recently where they would first kill Vem then tame Yauj while she has the Vigilance buff that increases damage done and attack speed of the pet that meant some hunters could do over 50K dps. This has been hot fixed now as far as I can tell.
How to: Solo Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40) 4.3 version:
I show you how to solo all of them, but I don't kill Viscidus & C'thun myself.
It also explains the tactics for when you want to do it with a couple of friends.
Also includes information about mounts & reputation.
It took me around 31 min and I earned around 613g.
I hope it will help :)
Just soloed the trio on a 395 Fury warrior. I was a little apprehensive about the CC train after some frustration with High King Maulgar attempts. Fortunately, this fight is much simpler.
Get on the left side of the trio so that you can leap behind the pricess (with your back against the wall of that tunnel behind her) to keep everything grouped up. Then:
rage potion (I *love* rage potions for these fights)
leap into position
BT -> CSmash + Berserker Rage + Trinkets -> unload on Yauj
Remember to Pummel or Disrupting Shout the first heal as I think there will always be at least one with 85 DPS. She should drop like a rock though. You can use Bladestorm when she is low if your knockback senses are tingling, otherwise save it for when she is down (I saved it, seemed to work, never left my starting position really). Vem then went down with no problem, and Kri followed also with no problem. I ended with ~50% health, I don't think Second Wind got to do its thing.
Basically, bomb Yauj with everything you have plus one interrupt, maintain solid positioning, and it should be very easy.
For those that like this color, and like the 'exposed brain' colossus silithids, Patch 5.1 will add Manax, a rare exposed brain version of this silithid
their abilities and dmg got nerfed in 5.1 (along with other AQ40 bosses).
just solo'ed this trio with a lvl 80 combat rogue (yes 80).
Tamed and tried to rename this pet "Princess". I get the error "That name contains mature language. Enter a new name." lolwut?
Something has definitely changed in the last patch. As an i452 Retribution Paladin I had no issue dealing with the Trio over the holiday break and three runs through the raid.
Today my DPS cycled between 9k and 1k no thanks to her very short cycling of Fear and Stun effects. You would think normally "So What!" but her two escorts take the opportunity to knock you back just after you loose control. That %HP loss from falling is dangerous no matter what level you are. So be prepared if you are soloing and do not have much defense verses these effects.
OK I just solo tamed this on my hunter today and it is a hard one to do. Here was my strategy. I used my pet to kill the other two with her then actually instead of dismissing the pet I let him take her fear at which point I dismissed him the moment she feared him and began the tame. Tame finished 1 second before her next fear / stun and I was able to get her.
I hope this helps anyone trying to do this. Good luck, happy hunting, and enjoy your new pet!
Warning: Yauj will always stun.
Solo tamed on lvl 90 BM hunter today. Clear the room first, else there could be some fears into stun mobs around the room if you mess up attempt 1. I ran in swinging on a first attempt and got nowhere. Decided to feign and try again. This time I popped
to start, and immediately
, and viola. (Had I not also had
, I think my Deterrence would have worn off and I would've been feared before I could complete the channeling.) Hope this helps!
HUNTERS trying to tame this one: the
will help a lot!
If you're having trouble soloing this at high levels, try avoiding AOE attacks. If the final bug does not have time to "devour" the other two, then when you kill him/her the encounter reset instead of completing.
These bosses have a different loot table depending on which one of the three you kill
. Since neither Wowhead's loot table nor the in-game dungeon journal is very clear on who drops what, here's a list of everything transmogable:
The following can drop off
of the three bosses, no matter which one you kill last:
If you want to solo this (I did it as a 100 lvl Priest) the secret is to kill them one by one but
Kill the first one, wait for him to be devoured.
Kill the second one, wait for him to be devoured.
Kill the last one and you are done.
I left the Princess for last and it worked just fine.
Hope this helps!
Seems 7.3.5 patch affects these mobs too. Just killed them all the normal way (waited for them to be devoured, etc), with the Princess Yauj last. She falls, lootable, and then immediately despawns before you can actually get to looting her. Still effects your lockout too so be careful.
Looting the bug trio has been "bugged" (no pun intended) for a while now.
This is a confirmed bug, already on the developers list (was told so by a GM) and while it's still in game, just write a ticket and a GM will send you your items through the mail :)
