Just beat it on layer 5 as an Arcane mage, but good
lord
, it took forever.
It starts with 9 stacks of a shield that reduces damage it takes by 10% per stack, and loses stacks as you hit it... but it reapplies the buff every so often. It also likes to start casting a spell that heals it for 3% of it’s HP every few seconds once you’ve damaged it enough; no idea if it’s interruptable. Finally, it uses a stun attack that hits hard pretty hard fairly frequently; it might have been a frontal cone, but I’m not 100% sure on that.
All in all, the most obnoxious boss I’ve faced solo yet.

Around 35% he just turns on me, ignores my pet's taunt, and just pummels me down. Doesn't matter if I slow down my damage to lessen my threat or I go all out on him, 35% every damn time.

Casts "Crush" as a frontal attack, as well as "Bounty of the Forest" which heals the Elder. Both of these are interruptable and it can be stunned as well. If you miss the interrupt on Bounty, it can be dispelled.
Each stack of it's shield is removed per attack (player only, not pet it seems) and it will intermittently reapply this buff to itself.
As i177 BM Hunter it was pretty straight forward, but cannot comment on other classes.

Just finished this as a Frost DK.
Pick up Blinding Smoke Capsules as any class and you should be able to ignore most of his damage. Any defensive that reduces your interrupt/cast time will be helpful here. If you are melee anything with haste will help you lower his shield stacks quickly.

Mathematically, literally impossible to kill on layer 6 for Arms Warrior. Hits like a truck, has 708k HP, you do not have interrupt available for all Crush casts. Overtuned by at least 40% of damage and health. Pathetic.

As a n00b (been playing for less than a year) Arcane Mage, here is my strat.
Before pulling:
Make sure you get the Anima Power that boosts your damage to 2000%. You can stack this more than once.
Make sure you have a full 3-stack of Arcane Blasts with Presence of Mind.
When you pull:
Take down the damage reduction buff with with Arcane Missiles
Use Frost Nova on him
Blink away and drop Mirror Images
Cast Time Warp
Cast Touch of Magi
Cast Arcane Power
Cast Greater Invisibility
Spam Arcane Blast
You can usually get 2 hits in, sometimes 3. If that is the case, then he'll go down very fast.

- Interupt Crush as it will stun you and deal big dmg
- interupt or purge/spellsteal rejuvenation so he wont heal himself
- use some fast attacks to remove the stacks of his defensive shield thingi
But generally it comes down to you making some good combos with your anima powers, so you can sustain while dealing decent dmg

- more powerful phials,
- a steward that healed me and
- burning vanish > cheapshot to interrupt its heal

180 frost mage, this dude feels impossible lol. Can't dump out 700k damage before he can no longer be kited (say goodnight, you are not surviving his full speed attack) and crush is cast 2 seconds or so before you can cast counterspell again after the first interrupt. Lowest I was able to get him was 20% or so before he hits d*** slapping mode. Wish that if the runs were gonna be so dependent on anima powers, that they wouldn't take an hour.

Just did it as a frost DK on layer 6, quick interrupt let me deal with all rejuvs and most crushes. Also had the haste/damage reduction buff that stacks during combat.
It did feel it could be dangerous so bursted it down after i got the initial stacks out with drums and pots

I just did this as a 179 Balance Druid, but it was NOT easy!
I had very few "good" upgrades, but i was able to cheese it: i kited it down towards the broker, over the long bridge, casting my treants and vortex whenever needed, spamming instant spells to break the shell and interupting the heal the first time, bursting and using all CDs as soon as the shell was broken.
Once i made it down to the entrance, i popped barkskin and dash and ran through it towards the other end. I kept this up as long as i could, untill i could no longer outrun it.
I ALMOST killed it (had it around 40k), but then he used shell and heal, and it had too many stacks for me to do anything, and it killed me (this was with 1 life left).
This got me SUPER tilted, but i saw it running back, and i had previously thought about dying when needed and running back before its HP reset, which is what i did! I ended up dying right next to the entrance, and was able to run it down and just kill it before it reset.
This is super cheesy, and probably should be fixed, along with the rest of this garbage boss.

Was able to beat this on Layer 6 with a 184 ilvl shadow priest.
This guy is SUPER slow, but has a metric ton of HP...He stops moving and casts a stun (crush) whenever you get close. here are some tips to beat him
1. Kite. As a priest, body and soul alone was enough to kite him until nearly 35 stacks. At one point I couldn't stop moving to cast. IN the room I was in he would leash all the way to the entrance so I couldn't drop combat. I was able to run past him at every dead end thanks to him casting his stun which gave me enough time to Body and soul past until about 35 stacks when it one shot me. Note: he does turn with you while casting this stun, so you cant side step it. but you can easily back out of range.
2. he starts off the fight with 9 stacks of 10% dmg reduction. he loses one stack for every spell that hits him. You should start off the fight with a few instant casts (like SW pain) if you can to lower the stacks, then start your rotation when you're going to burst him with no stacks. he will put this up periodically though the fight, just spam an instant dmg ability to remove it before doing a normal rotation into it.
3. You can obviously stun/cc him before 10 stacks when you're doing your initial burst combo (or any burst combo before he gets 10 stacks) to stop the stun. As a priest, I was able to fade with my shadowfiend up to cause him to turn his stun to the fiend instead of me mid cast, avoiding the stun while I was in my burst combo.
4. He wont start casting his heal (bounty of the forest) until under 50%. You can interrupt this (with silence). I was also able to interrupt it past 10 stacks even tho he was "immune to CC" However, because he stops to cast this, and because it doesn't tick on him for a few seconds after it, I would recommend you keep running and purge him after if you can, as that will give you some extra distance. Classes that can dispel should have no issue.
5. in the end, I had to burst as hard as I could until his damage started to get ridiculous. it was tough as a caster as I had to keep avoiding his crush so I wasn't able to do a full rotation, but occasionally I would fear/run and get a few precious seconds of dps. Once you get to about 15 or so stacks, you really have to start kiting, and you should have him down below 50 by this point. Keep up the kite and try to maximize your dmg where you can and you should be fine.
6. the smoke bombs DO work on his regular melee dmg, but his stun will still hit you (although he seems to need to be closer), so you will still have to back out of that, I recommend saving them for when he's really crushing (see what I did there?) you on dmg and you're close to a kill (sub 30%)

I did this as a ilvl 169 Frost Mage with no legendary and mostly upgraded PVP gear, and it was not easy by any stretch on Layer 5.
My process was as follows:
Cast Frozen Orb as your opener to get rid of damage reduction debuff. You could cast blizzard for this as well.
He comes at you VERY slowly at first, like RP walk slow.
Blow all of your CDs, Time Warp, any pots, stack as much burst as possible before you need to move.
Kiting becomes harder the longer the fight lasts, but you can root him, so use your Elemental on this if you aren't spec'd for it.
When he casts the heal on himself, spellsteal immediately, priority #1.
Stay as far away as possible throughout the fight.
I alternated blinks and the Night Fae Soulshape to get away at various times.
When I couldn't cast standing still anymore I just ice lanced as I ran around trying to stay away.
Use both Ice Blocks to shield from crush, but if you are far enough away his crush ability won't hit you.
You should blink away vertically to be at out of range, rather than side to side trying to dodge something. You can't dodge crush from what I've seen, you can only out range it.
The key is to last until your images are back up. Once that happens, pop your CDs again and then RUN to max distance.
He will hopefully go after your images in this case and you can finish him off.
I felt like I was jumping out of my skin by the end of it and in general this fight needs a small nerf.
I stupidly didn't know you could interrupt crush until I read more comments here, so do that. But if you are a Mage, let the heal go through and steal it so you can heal up.

Just solod as a 175 Havoc DH. I bought a healing pot from the vendor and used a spiritual healing pot, they are on different cds. Was pretty easy with the buffs I had. I was able to chain 3 eye beams in a row with blade dance on a 4.5 sec cd. Then jump into meta and my eye beams change to a 10 sec cd and still sometimes my buff would proc and I'd have no cd. If you miss the bounty of the forrest interrupt just consume it and you're good to go. I did take a couple crushes to the face. His Crush hit for about 10k and his normal melee hits for about 5-6k Thats 15k HP gone pretty fast, but the 10k HP healing pot takes care of it!

Soloed on Layer 4 as 165 shadow priest.
My main strategy was to remove
Hardened Shell
with SWP and kited it since the beginning of the fight.
After some time (around 20 stacks of
Unnatural Power
) it starts hitting like a truck so I only stopped running in circles around it to cast Void Eruption and Vampiric Touch. Don't forget to try to interrupt or dispel its hots
Bounty of the Forest
asap.
I had instant Shadow Mend and Body and Soul, so it helped a lot.

This boss is insanely stupid, and in my opinion - overtuned. There's no way I could beat this without.. ekhm, 'interesting use of game mechanics' as a 170 ilvl Balance Druid on layer 6.
The boss had over 650k hp and hit like a truck past 20 stacks of the buff.
The boss has a couple of abilities.
# 1 applies a shell on the boss that reduces damage dealt by 10%, has 9 stacks at the start of the buff. Each instant cast (like Moonfire or Sunfire) removes one stack.
# 2 is Crush. The boss slams the ground and stuns everything in its path, this can be outrun, but the easier way is to just sidestep it or move behind the boss while it's being cast. This CAN be interrupted, but you do not want to interrupt it, save your interrupt CD for number #3. Just barkskin/bear/defensive through it.
# 3 is a heal that heals the boss for 3% of his health every second for I believe 10 seconds (can be spellstolen as a mage, or DH). This is just stupid, but can be interrupted. Unfortunately, Solar Beam has much longer cooldown than the heal, so the boss is going to heal no matter what. This is not being cast when the boss is above 50% health.
Now for the strat, just cheese it.
I kited the boss to the entrance of the floor and tried to burst it with Convoke the Spirits (luckily, I had only 60s cooldown and my Convoke the Spirits did 150% extra damage while channeling). Now for the cheese part: just let the boss kill you near the entrance when the fight gets too hard. The moment he downs you, immediately release your spirit and start attacking the boss. He will slowly try to walk back to his starting position, but something goes wrong and he drops all of his stacks and the fight begins anew, however, the boss has the amount of health you have left it with... I have managed to get it down to 40% before it killed me, so starting with only 40% of his health was a breeze. I would not have been able to do it otherwise.

Just beat him as a ilvl 163 affliction warlock on layer 3, and it took every trick I had.
Started with voidwalker to tank, then switched to felhunter once he got down to below 50% health and started casting bounty of the forest, using Mortal Coil to interrupt until he hit 10 stacks of his shell. The felhunter can eat that spell with Devour Magic if you aren't able to interrupt in time. Of course after I switched pets they lost aggro, so then I kited and used portals + soulshape to stay away from his melee as best as possible, using pots and soulstones to heal as needed, burning him down when I got far enough away to cast Malefic Rupture.

Soloed Layer 4 as an ilvl
154
balance druid with a healing trinket equipped by mistake. Must be hell for melee classes.
strategy:
The anima I abused was Lycara's Sash. It allowed me to keep Starfall constantly on me so I could keep kiting and doing dmg. Also, I interrupted every 2nd healing cast with my silence. Also, make sure to burn through the shield with your dots and then pop all CDs on the tree ( If you have force of nature treants that would make it even easier). as far as kiting goes I just ran around in the encounter circle.

As an
Arms Warrior
this is a real easy fight if you stumble across the Shattering Throw anima power. If you do find it, engage the boss, hit it until the shield are removed, then pop all your damage increase cooldowns and use Shattering Throw. Mine hit for 500k and got hit down to the execute phase. From there just spam Execute, use defensives and interrupt/stun his abilities.
As always, Second Wind is the top survival talent in almost any Torghast where you don't have a DoT ticking on you. Kite the boss whenever you need healing.

Just beat this as an Arcane Mage. It's doable.
My strategy for this wing, like all other wings of Torghast, was to stack the 2000% buff on spells coming out of Invisibility to oneshot the end bosses. I believe I had three of them when I got to the boss.
Imagine my terror when I read the buffs that this boss has and saw that it had 90% damage reduction. But!: fear not, Arcane Mages, this boss is killable even with this strategy!
Here's how it works (and how it doesn't work) if you're like me and are stacking the Invisibility spell buff anima powers:
Arcane Missiles does not take away a stack of the buff each time it deals damage. One cast of arcane missiles = one stack of the damage reduction buff gone. You can whittle down the buff with things like Arcane Blast, Fire Blast, Frostbolt, etc.
When this boss has zero stacks, cast Mirror Image so that the boss is focusing your clones and won't reset/take you out of Invisibility. Next, cast Touch of the Magi if you aren't already at 4 stacks of Arcane Blast. Next do Arcane Power to buff your damage, then cast Greater Invisibility.
With the boss attacking your clones, you're free to get an Arcane Blast off. Good luck!

Hi! I just did her as frost mage 169 ilevel.
A hint for everyone, who can jump out of combat - mages, rogues, hunters come into my mind.
Start the fight fight without any cds and try delete her shield asap. After that, vanish out of combat, wait for her to reset and start the fight again.
The Fight should start without her shield, so you can freely pop all your cooldowns.
She will respawn the shield sometimes during the fight, but she will do it anyways - with or without cheesing.
As mage kick that stun if possible or dodge with iceblock (healing conduit recommended) - spell steal the heal and you should be fine.
My animatraits in this fight:
Clouded Diamond
1x Echoes of Elisande
1x Stack of Mad Wizards intelect
2x Saphire Prism
4x Runecloth Wrappings (the sole reason i came up with this *!@#)
1x Highly Polished Handmirror
Some other, lower powers and power which didnt work for her (sheep bomb...)

190 fire mage, beat him on the 1st try.
Drop his stacks using instant cast and DO NOT use any burst until his stacks are gone.
After that it's all about regular interrupts, I found that spell stealing his healing and using counterspell when he attempts to restack his stacks work best.
As annoying as the stun is, I didn't interrupt that and instead created enough distance to where he would never reach me.
For any ranged classes, this fight is all about kiting, he's so slow that you can easily run him in circles.
If you're melee it's near impossible, probably best to reroll and hope to get a different boss.

178 Feral Druid. @bobo's kite + die + reenage strat worked where nothing else did. I needed 2 lives to pull it off. I had picked up pretty crap abilities this run. This guy us very punishing to melee.
Start out ranged and moonfire repeatedly to remove his shield. Then move in and burst with whatever you got. Save your interrupt for his heal and let him cast crush.
When crush starts looking like the next cast is going to kill you start kiting him back toward entrance. Stay within range enough to interrupt his heal though. When you get him back at the entrance DPS until his crush kills you. Immediately resurrect and use whatever speed cooldown to get in range and reengage before his health resets.
Rinse and repeat.

If youre think youre doing well kiting from a circle, get ready for super speed boss to come at you.

Guardian Druid, use your cooldowns on Crush and interrupt where possible. To start the fight, slowly back away and spam moonfire x10 to get rid of the hardened shell. Throughout the instance, pick up powers that increase your dots' damage - moonfire is our best dps (the power that throws a moon down every 20 ticks is so great). Also had 15% health buff from vendor, and 2% from each mawrat - the extra health is a really nice buffer. Don't be afraid to kite him back to the entrance - you'll have to spam his shell away twice. I honestly didn't worry about his heal - it's a Heal Over Time, and my buffed Damage Over Time countered it with no issue.

As an ilvl 184
Retribution Paladin
I just successfully did this fight (Elder Longbranch) on level 6 after a few failed attempts, this strategy will likely work for other melee classes though. There is a special mechanic at work here that helped me down it, I'm not sure if it's through the whole fight or just for the last 35%, but
stand at the very edge of your hit range so you can run out of range from the smash stun (Crush)
, it's a very quick cast but it can be done as the boss is stationary during the cast. The key is to
immediately run right back into range after the Crush cast is over and the boss will just continue to attempt to Crush if the previous cast didn't make contact
, you can repeat the process of weaving in an out of melee hit range and avoid nearly all melee damage.
The boss will periodically attempt to heal at 35% and under with Bounty of the Forest and it's imperative to interrupt
it or the boss becomes too much to handle because the fight drags on too long because of Unnatural Power, he'll just hit like a truck at the end, even with my weaving I'd occasionally get hit with a melee swing. Try to save defensive CDs until late in the fight if possible to get the most value out of them.
I was spamming Hammer of Justice early on in the fight and interrupting crush so I could stay in melee while I had my damage CDs popped. He becomes immune to CC at 10 stacks, so Hammer of Justice will probably be useless anyway by the time the boss gets to 35%, I don't think I had a chance to use stun to interrupt the heal.
I blew all my DPS cooldowns at the start of the fight after I got his shell buff off (my biggest is 2m but I think 2.5m or 3m may be OK too, depends on your damage output). You want to make sure your cooldowns are up again for the last 35% of the boss HP. (maybe blow damage CDs again at 20% if it helps spam more execute abilities)
Make sure to self buff and use damage potions if you have them.
Good luck Maw Walkers.
Edit: As of 17/DEC, this boss has been (or will very soon be) changed.
"Elder Longbranch’s Bounty of the Forest cast time increased to 4 seconds (was 2 seconds), time between casts increased to 45 seconds (was 30 seconds), and Hardened Shell now only requires 6 attacks or skills to remove (was 9 attacks)."

I can't even get him to 90%. He reapplies the buff that prevents me from dealing any meaningful damage as soon as I get it off him. I do not have enough interrupts and the like to keep him from stunning me and as it turns out, at the end, he becomes immune to CC that would give me breathing room when my ability to run or stun is tapped out. This fight is miserable as a monk, and for me personally, unwinnable. Sure, I could roll/torpedo in, and hope to dash out again in time to prevent getting stunned (insane cast time and range on that on that, what the actual hell), only to have him cast it again less than 10 seconds later. Where in there am I meant to do anything? Where in there am I meant to get enough hits in to even get his shell off of him, that he'll just right back on again, when he does 50-75% of my health in a single hit? I've not struggled anything like this on other bosses on higher levels. This isn't a DPS check, it's pure unadulterated clownery (unless you're a tank or ranged dps, judging by the other comments.). I guess I could take more roll charges next time, but this was plain unfun to attempt and I probably won't bother for a while myself. Not worth the time or effort when I can beat bosses on higher levels instead of touching this.

One of the easiest bosses in Torghast. He doesn't do much damage, is slow and doesn't really do much overall. Just make sure to interrupt/dispell his healing, otherwise, he can get kind of insane. Then it just either facemelt him or kite him to death.
Easily killed him on level 6 with my 172 Frost Mage with fairly average anima powers, even slightly bellow average I'd say.

As Boomkin using Trees is a good def idea to take some heat from yourself is something goes wrong. Not sure but I think CCs doesn't work on him later in the fight.

I did this fight on the 5th layer as a Vengeance DH and its the first boss that Ive struggled on so far. I died a few times before I figured out the timing on interrupts better. I noticed when I focused less on damage and more on interrupts I had more issues, but when I went nuts on dps I took less damage and it seemed like the boss used its abilities less. You basically need to dps to the max and be able to interrupt as much as possible at the same time for this to work. I also didn't have great Torghast upgrades for this run so that didn't help the situation.

Looks like this has been nerfed. A previous comment says 650k hp, but I had this boss on Layer 5 of Coldheart Interstitia and it only had 266K.
Took me three minutes (Resto Druid, 177 ilvl) so I was able to Convoke twice (normal CD is 2mins, I think I had an anima power that reduced CD by 20 seconds). I had a power that increased damage when exiting Prowl as well (20% for 5 seconds or something), and damage from Entangling Roots x2.
So essentially it was:
Prowl
Entangling Roots
Moonkin Form
Convoke the Spirits
Moonfire
Sunfire
Wrath...
Add in Barkskin, Vortex, some Efflorescence, Lifebloom, Shred, refresh dots, kite when possible (Roots)
Second Convoke and it was the home stretch.
As I've noted before, these fights usually come down the powers you have. I picked up anything that gave me a damage boost or my attacker a damage reduction (e.g.
荆棘斗篷
and
叶尔希尔的力量手套
-- this one was critting for 1.5 - 2k, which for me is a decent amount given Wrath and Shred are around 900).
I also used my final Ravenous Anima Cell on the broker. I made sure I'd bought everything first. From this I got... 400 Phantasma. So utterly useless having killed the vendor, but the
idea
was sound. ;)

Layer 8 - Feral Druid - 187 ilvl
This was a rough fight. Lots of running away. I did not interrupt the heal once (my mistake, I was busy running). I could not move out of the way of crush or even out range it in many cases. For me, crush was much more dangerous as it dropped my health hard. The fight was longer and I got off 3 Convokes. I didn't get particularly impressive powers (MF, Rake, Rip single target and such) but did prioritize single target DPS heavily. I had a couple of damage mitigation anima powers, and the Barkskin/Stanpeding Roar and shift ability (pretty sure it does Frenzied Regen in bear and I totally didn't use it =/).
My advice - KITE and heal. This dude is SLOW. I did do some MF and Wrath spam as I had the full moon on 20 MF ticks power.

As an ilevel 183 Blood DK, on Layer 8 of Coldheart Interstitia, was a literal tank and spank.
Won't lie that the new powers DKs got helped a bit. Hungerstone, the new one that gives you a 10% self heal over 5 seconds after each Death Strike, is amazing. And it stacks (I had 3 by the end of the run).
I had
The Horseman's Call
, so Whitemane was tanking a lot of the Crushes for me. Horseman health is always equal to 2x your health, so that does boost the value of things that boost your health/stamina. And they taunt like mad, so let them tank. (Small note: This power has 1 of 2 problems now. The horsemen do not transition floors with you, and the CD is not reset on floor transition, despite being 10min. Sent a bug report about it). A few Death & Decay/Death's Due related powers helped round out my kit.
I wish I had a boss that cast more often though... Had
Ancient Drake Breath
paired with
Boundless Fortitude
. Only had 3 Bounty of Nature to counter this kill. Grab a couple
Tome of Swordplay
to go with these, and you can have a 6 or 9 second CD on Mind Freeze, that is also an AoE Stun and big damage nuke, AND giving yourself 30% DR every time as well.
Total DPS for the boss fight was:
- Me: 3255
- Whitemane: 561
- Bloodworms: 155
- Dancing Rune Weapon: 338 (up 2x)
- Risen Ghoul: 355 (up 2x)
- Decayfly Hatchling (rare spawn power): 17
Grand Total: 4681
And Tank specs have to deal with greater Physical Damage being dealt, so keep that in mind. And because I was in Coldheart, the boss had 40% extra health over normal (Wing Torment).

189 BM hunter.
This for me was just a DPS Race.
I did it on layer 8 with the boss having 30% increased health.
Pet had agro the whole time and I just pummeled him.
I only needed to interrupt the healing ability, Crush didn't reach me at range and I just moved sideways anyway.
Once his stacks got high he was 3 shotting my pet but I managed to distance myself from him, res my pet before he reached me and carry on.
Did this 2 more times before I downed him.
As bosses go this wasn't the hard for a BM Hunter.

Just defeated him with 188 disc priest. Try to kite away from his Smash (can knock out two birds with one stone here using PW:S). Used barrier about midway through and Pain Supp at the end. The only thing I really needed to interrupt was his heal.

This was pretty easy as an ilvl 176 disc priest. I could not see any way to avoid the crush except to outrange it, since he will spin to face you if you try to step behind him or sidestep before the cast is completed. All I did was kite him and stay far enough out of range that the crush didn't hit me. Dispel the HoT as soon as it goes up. Once you get to the end of the kiting area, you'll have to run through him and will probably get hit by crush on the way, but just make sure you have a shield up and you should be fine getting hit once. If he has a lot of stacks then use rapture or a pain supp to be safe. Other than that, just keep your dot up and use all of your damage abilities on cd as they come up and keep running ahead just out of crush range and you should be fine.

ilvl 175 havoc DH, can't solo him past Layer 3. The interrupt cooldowns don't keep me from getting stunned, chaos nova doesn't seem to affect him at all, and he takes 25% of my health each shot. Can't kite him, he moves like Jason, lumbering but always on your tail. I used everything in my repertoire and couldn't get him past 50%. Seems tanks can handle him pretty easily, but melee DPS just has a problem. He destroyed my feral druid too.

I beat him in one try on level 6 as a ilvl 150 ret. pally.
All I did was slowly pull him all the way back to the end of the instance while using insta casts like judgement and blade of justice to get his shields down. Once I got him to the end I popped avenging wrath and stunned him whenever he cast the spell that heals him. It took a while and a couple divine shields and one lay on hands but I killed him pretty easily. Not sure if I was just lucky with buffs but that's how I did it.

Took some time but easily took him down on layer 8 this week as 179 BM Hunter. Got some good powers but he was a pain a couple weeks ago when I managed to barely get him on my last death.
I did get some good powers including nice heals but I'm pretty sure they nerfed him a decent bit from last time, decided to YOLO it since I still had all my deaths and didn't even need to use a single interrupt, damaged quicker than he could heal.
Pet never lost taunt and didn't die even once as well.

As ilvl175 Affliction Lock I could DPS him down on layer 8 (~650k) without any issues or rezz tricks. It took exactly 2 minutes, and I didn’t even have to switch to my Felhunter. No interrupt, stun, Mortal Coil or Fear. (But probably it would have been faster if I interrupted his healing buffs.)
I didn’t even move during the whole fight. Blueberry got stunned a couple of times, and I Health-Funneled him once shortly. But he held aggro all the time.
I guess my luck was that I had good Haste Anima powers (the ones that stack up your Haste during combat and the one that gives you 20% Haste in exchange for 10% Stamina), so during the fight my Haste peaked at 81% (according to my stats display).

I had a very hard time killing this guy yesterday. I am a Havoc DH 187, and died 5 times. 6.th time i went in, i dragged him all the way back to the entrance, in a panicattack because he was getting me to low. He is very slow, so i had time to get my interrupts back up again. He killed me, when he was at 45% HP, at the entrance, but when i ressed, he was slowly walking back to the mid, still 45% HP. I jumped him again and killed him. I dont know if its a bug or what, but it worked for me. It was layer 8.

Looks like the nerfs from mid December positively affected this encounter. I didn't have nearly as much problems with him as others have reported (171 feral druid, Level 2). The biggest annoyance was being stunned out of my Convoke.

Someone found a possible bug on this fight. They commented in on my video
So I just did Torghast as a guardian in a 5man group.
This boss had, and I do not understand why, 671M hp (!) and he hit me with melee autoattack for 1.6M dmg.
Naturally we spent all our lives on that boss, fun wipe.
@iSamsonite Actually, after doing some google research I found that this is a bug related to players disconnecting then reconnecting.
So, ya, if anyone is DC'ed during Torghast best thing is to instantly kick that player.

Agreed there must have been nerf put in place on this boss. Killed him on the first try as a 154 frost mage for the Explore Torghast quest. While advancing through the floors I took all the buffs that sped Frostbolt and increased Blizzard damage. At the last purchase point took 'improve protection barrier by 70%.' I had also picked up the 'gain 30% haste when near wall' buff. Was able to kite the slow mob and drop Frozen Orb/Blizzard while fast-casting Frostbolt to proc instant Flurry then followed with releasing all stored icicles.

Guardian druid ilvl 176 - endboss on layer 7 and 8.
His
Unnatural Power
buff makes this boss pretty hard. I failed all my lives on him as endboss on layer 8. Somehow I was able to reset his buff at 15 stacks by cycloning him which made the fight easier for a time. But I haven't been able to duplicate that later on in the fight.
So far I have had 15 attempts on him (I've cleared layer 8 two times and layer 7 one time) and I still haven't beaten him. His minor periodic selfhealing is not an issue in the fight as long as youre able to reset or even purge his Unnatural Power stack.
I have been able to bring him down from ~600k to 200k HP and that's it. I can't figure out how to beat him as long as I can't reset his buff stack.
Met him again today on layer 8. This time I was 20 ilvls higher - 196. Still the same mechanics, and my AP's were even worse than the first time. But it seems he needs to be treated as a gear check for some classes and specs. This time I nuked him without problems and with no CC.
I bought the 30% damage buff bottle at the merchant before I started the fight. Definitely worth the 150 animas.

I just about managed to kill this boss on my last life. He had 3mil HP at floor 18, hits like an absolute truck.
At 180 ilevel I don't think any melee class can do this.
As a shadow pries the following strategy worked:
Kite at maximum distance, as Crush damage inverse scales with distance to the point it doesn't hit at all.
Prioritize distance over DPS. Do not get hit by melee and use body&soul to get away from him when he starts casting Crush.
Stacks of Hardened Shell drop off with every spell cast so spam shadow word: pain while running around him to get rid of them fast.
Save silence and fear for f*ups and for interrupting the health regeneration spell.
At about 20%, make sure he's the furthest away from the entrance of the room, slowly start moving towards the entrance and unleash hell.
He should be down by the time you can't go back any further.

https://i.imgur.com/zn5Nq4D.png
Layer 2 Twisting Corridors, Final Floor (18)
His auto attacks hits for something like 54k. By far major damage source as a melee. Fight is heavily favored for ranged. DAMAGE HIM FROM AFAR!
He casts 2 spells, a "Crush" spell and a self heal (long cast). You can keep interrupting crush if you save a stun / cc for his self heal.
If you know in advance you're gonna get him (can see his 3d-model by broker on floor 15),
try to get any powers that help you do damage from further away.
For sub rogues, this can be for example "Shadowstrike applies a 5-combo point Rupture" or "The range of your auto attacks. Anythign boosting evasion is top prio.
I got him to 20% when he killed me instantly, don't know what caused it.

This boss is the one I faced on floor 18, layer 8 and I was able to kill this one as a sub rogue 196 ilvl.
You don't need to kill it from afar, in fact you really can't do that as a sub rogue, instead you need to make sure that you ALWAYS have evasion up and go ham during your evasion windows.
I had the animas that give evasion when using shadowstep and when using vial, also I had the animas that increase the duration of evasion and also the one that increase the duration when receiving melee hits. I'm also kyrian and I had the animas that make the anima charged finisher to deal damage as if it was 20 combo points, as well as resetting the cooldown, along with this I had "First Steps" which increase the damage of finishers by 400% when using shadowstep. Finally, I had 218k hp.
What I did was, to open with shadowstrike, get slice and dice to max duration and make sure to keep slice and dice up throught the fight, use echoing reprimand and then eviscerate on anima charged combo points. If the anima charged combo point is the 3rd or 4th, you can use shadowstep and eviscerate immediately (if 3rd) or wait until you get 1cp from melee strikes (if 4th). If your anima charged cp is the 2nd one, then you want to wait for your melee strikes to build up 2cp and do your finishers, you want to get as many anima charged cp as possible on the 3rd or 4th slot, that way you can buff it up with shadowstep, also make sure you have shadowdance BEFORE hittin eviscerate, shadowdance increases damage by 30% with the Dark Shadow talent
While doing this, you need to keep an eye on the buffs you get from shadowstep, if you get evasion you're fine for 12 seconds, when your evasion duration is ~3s, spam vial while kiting at the same time, if you get evasion you have 6s to try land an anima-charged eviscerate, use shadowstep to do some damage, if you get evasion with that shadowstep you'll get 12s to do damage, otherwise stun and continue with vial until you get evasion and repeat. After Elderbranch reaches ~7 stacks, you want to avoid as many melee hits as possible because if it crits you, you'll die (it hit me for ~300k). Baseline evasion lasts a LONG time because the anima that increase it's duration, but if shadowstep evasion pops up, it's possible for it to overwrite it and you'll end up with a lower duration evasion.
You can 100% ignore Crush assuming you have Evasion up. If you're kiting and it starts casting Crush, just get away a little bit more, it doesn't have a lot of range. Save your kick for Bounty of the Forest, this is because you want to save your stuns in order to begin kiting when your evasion runs up.
It took me 3 minutes and it had 12mil HP, I died 3 times while I was figuring out how to best fight it. I finally got my mount and I'm done with this wretched place.

As a Fire mage this guy was incredibly easy thanks to the Anima power that shrouds you in mist and any slow ( I had the fire slow anima power but frost would work or slow from arcane mage) He couldn't cast crush at all unless her randomly turned to hit my pet with it. Otherwise I started the encounter with 6 scorches to clear the buff and then went into my normal rotation with Timewarp the entire time keeping him at a distance and slowed. It took awhile but I was never in any danger and killed it quite comfortably.

Did this guy at floor 18, level 7. Adding to the cheesing. After you take him back to the entrance I took his health down to 80% then shadowmeld. It takes about 5 seconds for you to re taunt him when he walks back. Brought him back to the entrance to drop him another 20%. After his damaging stacks fell off again, re-taunted him when he was at 50%-60%, popped hero then GG

Doing this guy right now with a ven DH, 187ilvl. Twisting corridors, layer 3 floor 18. Breath of coldheart debuff gives him 30percent more hp for a total of 4.4M. the main problem is the stacks of damage he builds, even kiting does not work. at 24 stacks he hits me for like 120k health. I still have some tries left, but no idea how to actuially beat him.

As a 150 ilvl paladin, I thought I have no chance against this thing, as it killed me 3 times no matter what I tried. But then I realized that this boss is really slow and doesn't have any ranged attack. So you can easily win time to refresh your powerful abilities - if you have a way to quickly run away from it. I even let the boss heal, 'cause the power of my best skills refreshed was enough to over-damage what it has healed. So it took me 3-4 times going out and back into the melee fight. The maw beast pet also helped by holding the boss' attention.

I met this guy in twisting corridors 1 on floor 18 as final boss with 3M health as a sublety rogue at ilvl 200. Even though I had picked up 40 anima powers and did around 11k dps this was a tough fight. The key for me was to kick every heal, stun/kick/run away from his slam ability, and kite him around using Crippling Poison while I self healed with Crimson Vial

Had him on layer 8 floor 18 - 13.25m HP- ilvl 207 unholy DK. Had 2 horsemen and around 130khp standing still. You need a lot of health and interrupts, got the power that gives you 50% strength and stam in dark transformation, 75% monstrous concoction for my minion, death bloomer and 225% damage to death coil. Just interrupt all his Crushes and heals (make sure you pick up reduced mind freeze cast time, I had it down to 6 seconds) and also get a lot of lich robes to reduce lichborne cooldown when you death strike. Spam death strike as much as you can and use lichborne whenever you can. His crush will 1 shot you.
If you do run into the ability from the rare that gives you 30% physical damage reduction but 15% more magic damage taken, take it. Just be on top of interrupts from other mobs leading up to him. I didn't use it but it would probably help if you are lacking in damage.

Frostmage
I just killed it as a frost mage Itemlevel 199, 18th floor.
He is very slow and can be kited the whole fight without taking any damage. (to the entrance and back, e.g.)
You can either interrupt his ability "crush" or outrange it.
I used spell steal on his healing cast "bounty of the forest".
You can also reset his stacks of "unnatural power" if you like to.
Use frostnova (to make sure he doesn't kill the images and resets) and mirrow images so he stays infight while you use invisibility.

Blizz needs to stop tuning these bosses using GM-buffed characters. Tried this f***er three times as a disc priest and while I could heal enough I had no mobility to speak of. Can't blink like a mage, or charge off on a horse like a pally. I tried blasting him with that distancing spell only works every 45 seconds. Fearing is only useful for healing. Since I only came in for 2 quest items I just gave up and ported out.
Torghast can be really irritating and not fun at all.

I cant pump enough damage and inevitably he gains the stacks to oneshot me no matter how much healing or defensives i have. Im salty as hell right now but ill try again. I had really &*!@ty build during last run so maybe i luck out with powers and less annoying boss next time. I #$%^ing hate and love torghast.
edit: finally done with the place and got the mount so i can be bothered to enter maw with my alts. twisting corridors is so random. one run you enjoy yourself and have great powers at hand and next run you are about to cancel your sub.

Imagine this:
You wanna do Twisting Corridors Layer 8 solo. You get probably the worst set of anima power imaginable, but manage to get to floor 18 after 2 hours and there is this creature waiting for you. Despite being a tank, you get oneshoted with like 800k HP left on the boss (initially 10M), because your defensive abilities and stuns are on cooldown. You have 2 attempts left and desperately check Wowhead for an advice. Now when you know the strategy, you pull him to the entrance and die because of another oneshot with 1,25M HP left on the boss. Release immediately, pull again, oneshot with 30K HP left. Release again and you are out of attempts, so this huge creature with 450M HP kills you again and the boss is slowly moving back to his position. Last resort - use the bubble, horse and pray to RNGesus for good roll on Hammer of Wrath.
RNGesus approves your request and you get the mount. Your blood pressure stabilizes slowly and your GF stops calling an ambulance because she realizes you are not having a seizure or heart attack.
Now you realize that you probably misused a bug BUT YOU SINCERELY DON´T CARE because the nightmare is finally over and you have the stupid mount.
Curse the balancing department for overtuning this encounter beyond imagination and the person who thought it would be funny to spend 2 hours grinding something which can go to hell in literally 2 seconds. It is not challenging, it is pure maliciousness which depends only on RNG (like the looting system was not enough).
I swear to god I am never going back to that hells hole, now I have to excuse myself because I gotta call my therapist.

If you're a rogue and by any chance you have the anima powers to proc evasion off your Crimson Vial, aswell as the 0 second cooldown on it.. you can completely cheese your way past this guy on floor 18 in Twisted Corridors.. I had 0 chances left and had this moment of clarity that all his attacks are dodgeable.. combine that with interrupting his heal and you're good to go.

This is a slow-moving kite boss. He hits hard but moves slowly. The key strategy is to stay away from him, outrange his abilities, and whittle him down from afar.
Save your interrupts for the big heal he casts on himself.
I beat him as an ilevel 215 balance druid at his max strength, floor 18 of Twisting Corridor layer 8. It was a 2-3 hour session to reach him, so I stopped to check Wowhead before engaging. Boy was I nervous after reading all the comments on here!
I did not have to die, release, and reengage, but that's a really good trick to have in the toolbox. The idea is as follows. If you think you are going to die, try to drag the boss to the entrance and then die there. The boss will then start to reset. He'll walk very very slowly back to his original location. If you release and resurrect quickly enough, you can spam some attacks on him to get him back into combat, preventing his reset. You then get to continue the fight with his health already below half. This is another way that you get to take advantage of the boss's weakness, his very slow movement. You can do everything faster than this guy, including reset.
There's a soft enrage in that he gradually moves faster as the fight goes on. I didn't time it, but he moves glacially slow at first, and for many minutes much less than walking speed. Thus any class can kite him at first, and any class with a movement ability for a much longer time. You have to have some minimum amount of dps to beat him, though the exact level of dps is subject to many factors. The more effective your kiting, the lower your dps requirement can be.
The Night Fae movement ability is perfect here for kiting. Druids can use
乌索尔旋风
and
台风
to make distance, as well as movement abilities such as cat form. You may want to save
台风
as an interrupt, though, because you really want to minimize the number of self-heals he is able to cast.
If you have any kind of disengage ability, such as Blink, Wild Charge, or Fel Rush, you can probably optimize your kiting as follows. Kite him from a distance until your ability is available. Then go attack him in his face. Once he casts Crush, use your ability to outrange it. Then kite some more until the ability is back up. I didn't have to do any of this as a Night Fae balance druid, but it may help for melee dps.
If you plan ahead once you learn this boss is coming, you can try to get anima powers that help movement speed. I didn't have it, but I believe
边缘潜伏者
must be amazing on this fight, because you can stay next to a wall for the entire fight. Several improvements to the Night Fae Soulshift ability are helpful. For Kyrian,
议会之石
looks helpful. Heaven help you if you took
梦境之根
; you'll have to face tank him and have a source of healing to get back to 100% between the crushes.
In general this boss rewards having a balance of anima powers. You have to have dps because of the soft enrage, so I think most of your anima should go toward dps improvements. You will eat an occasional Crush, so you have to have enough health to take the hit, and enough healing to get back to 100% in a reasonable amount of time. And then 1-2 movement abilities can really reduce your required dps, so taking at least a few movement improvements is helpful. I know this boss can be a disappointing end to a long run, but in general he seems well designed and to reward a broad-based powerful character build rather than specializing in one of the three areas alone.
I found
骷髅卫徒
to be helpful here. Earlier in the dungeon, the ward has the downside of ruining any
失落的泥仆
you may find, so I think I will avoid him on future runs until I see the secret level at least once. He was very helpful on this boss fight, however! He taunts the boss, giving you valuable time to make space and then do some dps. He dies instantly on the first crush, but you will have made space again. He resurrects once in a while during the fight, so he gives you a periodic reprieve. Outside of this boss fight, he's also 1%-2% of your damage or so on fights where he stays alive.

Layer 8, frost mage. (Being doing Torghast in frost mage, which seems to work better than fire in higher layers)
Anyway, after exhausting 4 lives, not passing down from 20%, I quit the instance, took a break, read some of the tips here. Came back to this boss again, who had almost 600ks HP and was able to beat him. Nonetheless!, I gathered about 13-15 mirror images from anima powers. They didn't do much in their first fight on this 2nd round. Barely down to 70%. But kiting, stealing the heal and interrupting the Crush, gave me time to wait for the cd and cast mirror images again, which made the boss get distracted with them while I wore him down. And... that's all she wrote... So, kite at a distance, interrupt stun (called Crush) and steal the healing spell (called something of forest), all while hitting with instant spells or frostbolt to slow him down even more (don't rely on frostbolt if he's too close).
