This boss gains stacks of frenzy based on how much you move. If you are like me on my first attempt and just ran in circles while letting my pet tank, he will destroy you. Basically you want to stand still as much as possible, run out of collapse, then remain stationary until the next collapse. Pretty easy fight after reading the mechanics.

Impossible on mage unless you're very overgeared. Good job, Blizzard.

I soloed him on my 155 shadow priest by utilizing the smoke bombs. I probably went through 3 of them during the fight. Just save some for the end if you can get them. They basically make you take no damage for 30 seconds.

This boss is crazy strong even without the frenzy buffs if you do the mechanics right. 160 ilvl rogue on
layer 2
and he still just stomps me before I get him to 50% even after blowing all of my defensives. Doesn't help that it sort of @#$%ed me over giving me stuff that rewards moving (like the Soulward Clasp where you have to go pick up the buff) and then gave me two mawrat options out of the plundered anima right before the boss. Shouldn't be strong enough to kill an entire run because of like 2 powers that don't synergize out of 22 though.
I think a lot of the Torghast bosses are overtuned honestly, but this is really dumb.

Tried a lvl 2 and this guy showed up. I'm currently ilvl 168 Outlaw (yea I know). And went in with a Pally heals. And the dude just roasted me after banging away at him. You cannot just sit there and let him bash on you or you are going to die quickly. Have to kite him around and stay at max range doing damage to avoid getting smoked. Or.... bring in a tank in your group. Good luck!

Not sure about the previous comment.. but this was a joke on mage. I didn't have smoke bombs either which would have made it a lot easier.
As with all bosses you need to prioritize grabbing the fireblast knockup power. It trivializes almost all bosses. And make sure to pop lust on pull. Shouldn't have a problem with him, only want to move when you are blinking out of his swirlies.

The trick to beating this boss is to stand perfectly still, and when they cast collapse DO NOT MOVE until their stacks of enrage wear off. They will gain stacks of enrage when you move away from collapse and you need to wait until the stacks that they gained from the last time you moved wear off before moving again. This goes against your lizard brain "get out of the fire" instincts but I promise you still have enough time to move if you wait for the enrage to wear off first.
you can also stun them when they start casting collapse to delay it and give enrage more time to wear off.
They're not overtuned like the other comments in here are saying, they just requires a specific strategy that isn't very obvious at first.

I had rotten luck with this guy and wasn't able to kill him as a 160 demo lock. At some point during the run, a movement debuff was applied to me that looked like vines that never dropped off. To prevent the movement effect from stacking up, I had to continue to move around. Since Kosarus gains stacks of frenzy when you move around, I had to stand still and let the movement debuff stack up. This debuff was enough to make it impossible to dodge Kosarus' collapse without using movement abilities (Demonic Gate, Demonic Circle, etc.). When all my movement abilities were on cooldown, collapse essentially one-shot me.

169 Frost Mage and I got rolled. There is no amount of Frost Nova and Shimmer to keep you away. He comes up and hits you for 30% of your health and that's that. Torghast is not meant for casters and unless the bosses get tuned, clothies will continue to get butchered. I even had *some* decent anima rewards to survive a bit longer and it just... no. Absurd.

This boss is ridiculously overtuned. Doesn't match at all the difficulty level of the rest of the floors/levels. I don't know what Blizz is thinking. Hopefully they nerf so 95% of the player base can get past level 2.

Hey guys, one of his buffs gets stronger if you move around a lot. Try and stay still to kill him. I know that's hard for some classes but it will at least prevent him from going nuts. It's called Frenzy something. I didn't catch it because I was fighting for my life.

Did this as 140 demo lock no smoke bombs.
Put circle down and Gateway My strat was Gateway the 1st collapse. Boss gained 4 stacks but wore off quickly. I got a little lucky with no pool near gateway
2nd collapse portal. 3rd collapse I ate with Fleshcraft
4th I ate with Resolve + pact
he was almost dead at 5th I ate it got me down to 10% hp -> poped health stone and victory!

I did the layer 3 of the wing on my ilvl 154 elemental shaman with decent anima powers. Thankfully after the first death on the floor 6 boss i found the comment talking about the moving mechanic so i was able to kill him on the second try with about 40% hp left. One tip i have to give to my fellow shamans and other classes that may have a similar spell is that when the add that follows you spawned for me i hexed it, moved on and when it got out of hex i hexed it again so basically it was a non factor during my run. Good luck with your run :)

I see a lot of comments about how hard this boss is, but it definitely depends a lot on the class being played, covenant abilities and anima powers picked up along the way.
I soloed him today on Layer 3 of The Fracture Chambers as an ilvl 156 resto druid without too much trouble. Having healing helps of course. I slapped him with
万灵之召
from the gun (in Moonkin form), and had an anima ability called
腐蚀触角
that hits for a decent amount of shadow damage. The tooltip says "64 over 8 seconds" but mine was hitting for just under 2k.
I stood still mostly, only moving to get out of the fire.

My oh my, Torghast is so overtuned for us normal everyday casual players.
So did level 2 of this today. Easy getting through Torghast until this boss, zero problems.
Guardian Druid with Marksmenship Hunter together. No overgear, just crafted.
Destroyed the first couple of times. Our hints:
Do NOT move!
For collapse, move slightly, just enough to get out of the swirl
Use interrupts that you can. Incapacitating Roar worked for the first bit, then immune. He will recast immediately, but it seems to help reduce the buff he is getting.
Good luck for us casuals!

Just to give a short quick tip hopefully it will help.
Purchase the Smoke Bomb things from the Vendor. He basically cannot hit you even with his frenzy up when you're standing in the smoke.
Ended up destroying him with the Smoke Bombs as a Frost DK 160 ilvl. Hope that helps.
EDIT: As stated I apologize for not knowing, but something you will not be offered the Smoke Bombs during your run, sorry!

beat this as arcane mage solo'd
got lucky with my anima buffs,
but what mostly did it was blinking out of his collapse which didn't effect his stacking self buff.
just know when to cast your spells
mirror images help avoid dmg
barrier cd complete before you start fight,
nova before you blink out of collapse
timewarp
alter time at beggining (can backfire on you into a collapse so be careful) to regain any lost hp
ice block to wait on cd's or avoid collapse
etc you get the idea

All I hear are babies who actually have a challenging event for once and just want it nerfed so they can come on the forum and brag about how easy they rolled through it and good they are. This exp is about mechanics, figure it out. Others have already stated what to do (Don't move unless you need to; ie: purple poop). If you're dying you're probably doing something wrong, read the buffs or debuffs and come up with a plan or come ask if you're missing some vital info. It doesn't need to be nerfed, that's not the answer yet, you just need your awareness buffed.

Ty! Once again your comments on here helped me a lot. Im a 152 item lvl Affliction warlock. Solo'd him on layer 2 with help of smoke bombs and standing almost still lettting my voidwalker do the damage. I'm in the Night Fae covenant so got Soul Rot and picking up instant summon, more health and more damage for the voidwalker among other things. In all I had 21 anima powers going into the fight and 1 smoke bomb.

Cleared Level 3 at 152 as BM Hunter, but I'm uncertain how squishier classes might fare against this boss unless overgearing a bit. Very tricky even with a pet tank -- and I assume it will get easier with higher gear levels -- but at 152 I died 3 times before remembering I had Drums on me to kickstart the pull. Also helped that I think I had some lucky anima powers. Turtle and pet Rez ftw.

Just managed to solo this on my 155ilvl Rogue. I died like 2 times in a row before I cam e here to read the comments about frenzy stacks.
This may not be super helpful if you arnt a rogue and/or with the Venthyr but if you use grappling hook and Door of Shadows to move when he casts collapse he will not get any stacks of frenzy :)
Hope this helps some hapless fool like myself.

Soloed at ilevel 146 as a frost DK. Had 19 anima powers and used my steward but didn't really need him. Stood still except to move out of the purple collapse zones because moving too much put big stacks of enrage on him. Used some self healing but this fight wasn't difficult.

Stayed still on boss for first blue swirly, popped Touch of Karma. For second set of blue swirlies I used Transcendence out. Managed to burn him down just as third set of blue swirlies was about to kill me. Should be cake with higher gear.

The most important tip is to buy the smoke bombs, really. Difficulty will still vary widely based on class, but the smokes basically trivialize the fight.

Please remember that all these guys have mechanics, they are very unforgiving if done improperly. Use EVERYTHING available to you from the vendor. Health pots, smoke bombs, ect. This is meant to last till end of expac don't get discouraged if lower than normal CN geared(200) you have issues clearing stuff. restart and pay more attention to what abilities work well together, if a run seems to be going a certain build ie. defensive/heals or buffing one ability FOLLOW it and build around that. Torghast is not a choose what you want it is a choose what works well together for the layer.
At 186 as a fury warrior on layer 6 using smoke bombs and only barely stepping out of the purple he hit like a wet noodle didn't see my health drop below 80%. The adds for the rest of the layer hit harder.
If you are a class with an blink like ability use it. if not just stutter step out of the circle of bad and stop moving.
for pallies and monks be careful using you charger/roll it will give him stacks quickly if not careful. (If this is changed later i will edit this)

Outlae Rogue 1 shot - 153 ilevel - Just remember your mileage may vary depending on the buffs you got on the way. Approach boss, pop potion 30% damage one of vendor might be good but i just used agi pot, use evasion/shadow and crimson when possible, grapple when purple orbs come but do not move, he will come to you, use healing pot if you get low, run out purple on the odd numbers when grapple is down. I almost died but luckily I got him.

Got this guy on L6 of Fracture Chambers. Havoc DH, took 2 tries to down him. I used up my smoke bombs and pots on the first two tries, but I was trying to move out of the purple stuff, and that got me killed. Third try, came here, read up, and tried again. This time, just stood there and barely moved, just enough to move out of the purple stuff. Used Drums and managed to kill him. Basically: Don't move.

I fought him tonight through Twisting Corridors... He was the 2nd boss.
I remember the first time I encountered him he killed me over and over. I used all my lives trying to beat him before coming here to learn about the movement. So I encountered him tonight. By time I got to him I had a ton of abilities and healing. I did 11K burst dps on him because of my powerups and all that jazz, got him to 40% (g/t) and couldn't damage him anymore. I never moved, the purple stuff didn't hurt me at all because of the healing powerups I got and my pets were all over him...
After beating the ever loving sh*t out of him and getting absolutely no where at 40% - he one shot me.
What am I missing here? I mean besides getting smoke bombs and exploiting the fight like I've read in some other comments - why can't I bring his HPs lower?

I got this guy on Floor 18 of Layer 2 Twisting Corridors. Wasted 2 hours of my night on an ilvl 206 balance druid - couldn't get him down despite doing the mechanics and doing over 100k dps, probably because I had no powers that reduced my damage taken, despite a 70k health pool. If you get this guy on floor 18 and you have no damage reduction powers, I'm not gonna say you're *totally* out of luck, but you're probably going to have a bad time.

Got him on Floor 18 Layer 2 Twisting Corridors Torghast run... he has 3.1mill health.
Im a 200ilvl Outlaw Rogue. Had 115k healthpool for the fight too.
As an Outlaw Rogue its pretty impossible to kill him even with all the advice on here, Smokebombs, dont move, stunlock his Collapse cast. His damage still ramps up so fast that you have little chance of downing him. Outlaws cooldowns on all abilities are simply way too long to stand any chance in a long fight :(
Yet again Blizz mess up with their solo content... why is it ALWAYS solo content they can never get right?

I just got him on layer 5 floor 18 with 5.5M of life and I managed to defeat it as a fire mage.
It was hell as he literally oneshot me even having the 3 mana shields and a lot of health. What I did is I didnt allow him to hit me which is easier said that done but using fire juggler anima power you can push him away without letting him getting to you. I will also interrupt its casts so you can interrupt colapse.
Spacing the fire explosions instead of using them at will, using traslation, frost nova and getting cooldown reduction from the curia and Timeweaver's Needle anima power you can manage so he doesnt touch you not a single time.
But seriously it is overpowered I dont see how I would have done it with my rogue or my monk, there is no way to quite him eternally.
I recorded it in case it can help someone:

Just killed this scumbag today, layer 2, floor 18 as 207 ilvl BM hunter. I can easily nuke him down to about halfway health with lust, etc, but once the stacks start ramping up he began to 1 shot my pet. What helped was gettings the powers that slow enemies in the tar trap. He basically became immobile in the tar which allowed me to rez pet repeatedly to kill him. Still died once, but got it the 2nd time (just barely).

For any Vengeance DHs out there, this guy is maybe one of the easiest bosses in the game. As always, make sure you have your Immolation Aura damage capped at 5 stacks, Grim Tinder, and the Growing Inferno conduit. Ffrankly, these are the
only
DPS powers you should take unless your only other choice is trash. When you're actually fighting the boss, the only time you "move," is when he casts collapse, at which time you simply leap to a clear spot, and continue popping whatever defensive cooldowns you've picked up along the way, while your aura kills him. If you're lucky, you picked up the power that knocks back enemies that get within 2yds of you, which trivializes this fight even more. Still, it should not prove terribly difficult if you follow the golden rule of Vengeance DHs in TC- our defense if the best offense. Let them kill themselves, while we keep ourselves alive.

UPDATE: this boss will kill you if "he" moves. You can move freely around him, and "rotate him", as long as you dont move him from the first spot. After he casts "Collapse", just treat the boss as a stationary object, and move a bit around him, to avoid the big aoe.

Beat him solo as Shadow Priest on Layer 4 Floor 18 of Twisting Corridors (ilvl 207). I had
Volatile Phantasm
and two stacks of
Fragments of Obscurity
. This gave Fade a 10 second cooldown, and casting it would create a ghost that tanks for you for 10 seconds.
You have to basically stand right under his feet, and continually cast Fade on cool down so that he does not need to move to hit the ghost. I had a lot of health and stamina from other powers (101 total for this run), so I was able to eat one collapse to prevent Kosarus from moving much. If you are careful with your Fade and move quickly and not too far, you can keep the boss in about the same spot even while you run to avoid the AoE. It took two deaths to be able to get it right; this boss definitely feels like one of the hardest to solo as Shadow Priest.
This is probably obvious, but
DO NOT
use Psychic Scream on him.

Seriously, it's really infuriating to have this happen over and over and over again! Then Blizzard has the nerve to wonder why they get so much backlash and demands for nerfs!

Even in comparison to most of Torghast, which is horrendously unbalanced and clearly wasn't playtested - because most of it is way too easy, and then the difficulty for a few areas jumps massively - this dude is broken.
Ret pal, ilvl 199, had about 72 anima powers including rat spice, extra lay on hands, 4 charge hammer of wrath, permanent seraphim, lightining and shadow damage extras, swarming insects, healing globes around the room, etc. Layer 1 floor 18
Two times I got him to 1% and I died from Coldheart Plume. Took me 2 days to realize, on doing another Torghast run, that this was entirely my fault for getting the Coldheart Plume power, which will absolutely kill you on a boss like this.
On the third try, I moved the same amount, but this "coldheart plume" BS never happened. I waited with my finger on the divine shield button, making sure not to screw myself over with word of glory, and it just never came. Just DPS spammed him down that last percent.

Just now I use ilv 400 monk for solo run.
Everything is fine until him, I died once.
After check the death log, something interesting caught my eye.
It shows: Collapse, 615.7k damage (110k overkill).
I know he as enrage stack, but since it is plain damage (not life% damage) even at 99stacks it shouldn't kill anything.
