This boss appeared for me on the third floor of Mort'egar. As a 162 tank with 21 (!) anima powers, he was fairly challenging and it was a very long fight. I ended up using a lot of cooldowns and self-healing to make it through. (Go Bear!)
He has two abilities beyond his simple melee:
Steal Vitality is his main damaging ability. He pretty much spans it all the time. Not much to do about this one, you just have to soak it. It DOES heal him, so interrupt it as much as possible.
He casts his second ability, Prophesy of Death every 4-5 Steal Vitality casts. This one puts purple swirlies on the floor that follow you for a few seconds and can't be interrupted. They move FAST and you pretty much have to be moving at full speed to avoid them. I found that strafing right or left worked pretty well, turning in a very wide circle around him. Don't make your turns too tight while strafing or you won't move fast enough to get out of the purple circle. If you don't get out of a circle in time you will get hit HARD (like 10K for me, as a tank) and feared for a few seconds. I managed to dodge 3/4 of the casts, but it was ugly. Dodging this ability should 100% be your priority.

I had this guy on Layer 1 of Mort'regar, as an ilvl 160 resto druid with 11 anima powers he was pretty easy. I guess that means scaling's working.

Tough one, save interrupts for
恐怖怒嚎
as it hits much harder than
窃取活力
. However, in the final burst it might be necessary to interrupt
窃取活力
instead to prevent him from healing up again.
死亡预言
should be the least of your worries, it's easily avoided.

I've been doing every Layer and Floor as an Arms Warrior every time... except this time. I tried Mort'regar Layer 2 as Protection and I got this boss this time.
As a Protection Warrior, this fight was EASY (which is new to me). It took FOREVER but... I would just stay out of the green circles and interrupted
恐怖怒嚎
. I did NOT interrupt
窃取活力
at all and I allowed
非自然之力
to get up to 33 stacks (330% damage) on him and it did not phase me at all... as long as I had
盾牌格挡
and
无视苦痛
up. Along the way up the tower, I took every "Get healed when you Whirlwind" and every "Shield Slam has +33% chance of casting Whirlwind" anima power I could. During the fight, I did not move out (or have any reason to move out) of melee range.
Thanks to DeathMaster for his information! It made my first attempt my only attempt!

144 monk should have no issues with this guy. Just roll out of the way of the purple circles and take him down enough to use touch of death. Use defensives on cd. Have only been playing brewmaster for about 2 days as I used my boost and levelled throughout SL as windwalker.

As a rogue, I highly recommend that you don't hesitate to use stuns, blind, whatever you have to interrupt as many Steal Vitality casts as possible - even at the cost of reducing your DPS. The energy, combo points, and GCDs spent on the stuns will not go to waste when measured up against the healing he will do to himself with a successful cast.

I got this boss on 3 layer. He has like 330k HP. I was 150 ilevel frost mage.
I got him on second attempt and I got stick ice legendary. But on my second attempt at the end i was on 3% hp, so I barrely made it. 2/10 i don't recommend this boss for anyone. Even my mirror images don't provoke him. If you are mage I suggest you to pick some deffensives like 40% bigger ice barrier. If I had not purchased this upgrade before boss i will lost to him deffinitely.
But was worth effort.

As a blood death knight that was extremely easy and fast. But it requires some setup
1. Get Anti-magic barrier
2. Had some scandalous anima that was perfect for the boss
IBF that unleased a drake that did dmg
Ancient Drake Breath
Mind Freeze, activated IBF (see point 1 above)
Boundless Fortitude
Mind freeze CD reduced by 3 sec
I also had
Frostchipper
but don't know if interacted with Ancient Drake but I think it did.
One other advice, use control undead in this part of the tower all the time

As a 162 Unholy DK with 21 anima power this was not even remotely possible on layer 3. Using all cds I got it to 75% HP the first 15 seconds. His vitality hits me for 25% of my hp and I can't interrupt because I need to save for the howl. The howl hits me for 95% of my HP and I had 29k of it.
I don't have either the defensives or the self healing to cope with his damage.

As a 188 Rogue with Cheat Death his Prophecy of Death ability hit me for all my health and somehow reduced my max HP to 1 before he finished me off with a melee swing. This was on the torment that made him deal 30% increased magic damage. Keeping this in mind I defeated him on the next attempt while making sure not to stand in the purple swirls and using as many interrupts as I could on his other 2 abilities.

Layer 8, breezed through the entire thing until this boss and come out with absolutely nothing except a repair bill. Can't do anything about the stacking Unnatural Power, and if you don't have a class with a lot of interrupts he just spams Steal Vitality about every 2 seconds. Next thing you know you have about 100 health and if you just touch the edge of the Prophecy of Death purple swirl...you're dead. Torghast is stupid.

This was just a tank and spank for me really at layer 8, boss had 30% increased magic damage.
Pet was fine with health and agro it was just about the interrupts of his howl and steal vitality.
Its going to be very RNG on the powers you picked up along the way but I had luckily got the ability to spawn 3 health globes so used them to assist with heals.
Podtender saved my life as his howl went off as I was out of interrupts. I then used Exhilaration and carried on.
Turtle Aspect also helped to deflect one of his casts and then dropped it again.
I ran large rings around the boss at range top avoid the purple swirls, wasn't hard to avoid and keep up my rotation.

Made a layer 8 run and had this guy as boss as blood dk. I had 32 anima powers and 185000 life. If you are in the same situation as me, don't bother with this boss. His Steal Vitality Ability does %dmg at your health and heals him for the same amount. In my case he did something around 15000 dmg every few seconds which is impossible to outdps. So if you don't have the mind freeze cooldown reductions + maybe ibf + frostwyrm combo you are out of luck because all your normal interrupts are by far not enough to stop his healing. Again Thorgast wasted 2 hours of my life for nothing.

Probably not as relevant post nerfs, but as a 201ilvl uh dk, with really good anima powers he just melted, BUT do mind his abilities because with all the added magic damage they hit hard.
CC as much as possible, if you're Necrolord DK absolutely get 2 stacks of the power that extends the duration of abomination limb so you can keep griping him and stop his casts. Al the anima powers around mind freeze are a big help on this boss.

Oh well. I've just met him. Final boss on 8th floor. I have had the luck with stacking health through anima powers so my bear has 140k hp. But all those anima powers is a drawback and makes the boss unkillable since his steal vitality takes a PERCENTAGE amount of your health. It would have been doable without all the anima powers that stacks my bear's health. :(
I will send a bug report to Blizzard as this needs to get adjusted.

Rumor is there is a 'nerf' to these bosses. If this is the nerf... WTF was this thing before?
Mist Monk with so many interrupts ha ha ha - Leg Sweep on a 1 min cd. So suck the life out of this poor monk and run, that's it.
First one was death. Second time killed him. Managed to run and heal and cc him/hit it enough to finally, and I mean a longer than necessary fight, but finally, get it's health down enough that the SECOND Touch of Death actually killed it. Thank goodness the invoke a Celestial had tripled so had three of them out to attack. Majority of the fight was running and healing and hoping not to get feared off the edge.
Honestly I don't consider that fun - continually cc'd/feared and health dropping so quickly - I want that I go heal PvP! I mean seriously (I do heal PvP, and that boss felt like a stack of Horde on the attack!).
I don't want a cake walk, easy mode, but spending 1 to 1 1/2 hours in Torghast - you want success a the end, especially as we have to grub along to get Soul Ash.

Just killed him on layer 7 as a 171 Marks hunter. Took all my lives and it was a slog. The key is that his Steal Vitality spell takes your CURRENT health, so it's made much more difficult if you have a bunch of anima powers that give you a bunch of health and heal you up. Those powers give him more self-healing. And the longer the fight goes, the lower your margin for error, because you'll get one-shot by the Howl or Prophecy once his stacks get high enough.
So you actually want to be hovering below half health as much as possible, and avoid all the other damage. Easier said than done, and believe me I know, but trying to stay topped off will just give him more self-healing and prolong the fight.

When you are on level 3, you will see a little hologram of the boss you will get on level 6. if you are a rogue you can make this guy the easiest boss in torghast for yourself if you see him and get the right common / uncommon anima powers:
- crimson vial CD reduction
- anything that increases the duration of cloak of shadows
- anything that gives you cloak of shadows for free (for example, for outlaw rogues, you can try taking the power that gives you cloak when you grapple)
- anything that makes cast times longer, like the AoE cast slow crown
- a few anima powers for damage, once you have gotten a few defensives as noted above
I used wound poison and mind numbing poison as outlaw, this fight was a breeze (for once) on layer 8 of mortegar.

Just dinged 60 on my alt IL145 BM Hunter. Layer 1, breezing through for the quests and get to this guy. I didn't die but I took a couple of the Steal Vitality hands and had to run away.
Ended up beating it by taking 5+ minutes and having the pets kill it. I'm not sure what anima powers I had but they were the wrong ones. I only ran in to heal the pet and reapply mark. They didn't seem to heal it or take damage from Steal Vitality.

I did the boss with my Prot Pally ilvl190 and the first attempt failed. First time I was fully HP skilled including the maw rat hp bonus. The whole dungeon was a walk in the park, but the end boss simply didn't take enough damage.
Second time was quite easy. The whole dungeon I chose damage or potency anima's. I also had the anima with less magic damage and more physical damage. Always save 1 stun for the fear or save up enough health regen if you miss one. By accident I also managed to run away from 1 fear cast because the fear cast has a certain range.
The only problem is:
You can't know from the start which boss you get and you don't get information to determine your approach. Only on 3rd floor you see a image, but the first time I already took some epic HP anima's.

177 BM Hunter ... used Loque'nahak pet with "Eyes of the Beast" spell to take him down from out of range. I had Neural Pet Enhancer buff for a +500% pet damage dealt while under Eyes of the Beast. Use Loque'nahak's healing ability on cat as needed. Was able to position boss so when "Eyes of the Beast" ended, I could run into range quickly use "Intimidation" or "Counter Shot" to stun/interrupt him, heal my pet, throw on a couple "Barbed Shots" and jump back out of range to avoid Steal vitality. It was a long fight, however, he does very low damage to pets.
Of course, not knowing I was getting this boss I had taken major HP buffs throughout the run, which certainly prolonged the fight when he would get a "Steal Vitality" off while trying to back out of range.
I feel there are too many HP mechanics to this boss. Steal Vitality taking a health percentage, plus a heavy damage AoE ground effect. By the time I got to floor 3 and realized which boss I had, I had already taken the heavy HP buffs... figures. :-P
Edit: This was layer 8 boss fight...

This boss sincerely pissed me off tonight. Layer 8 - Solo run as Bear. Took 1.5 hours of my night (all the time I had to play). Everything was going great up until this boss - I had 35 anima powers, 140k health, just god-mode vs all the other floors. I get to this boss and it's 6 straight deaths. I think it is impossible to kill this boss with the amount of health I have (his life steal does a % of my health so he heals to full very quickly). I can't out-dps the amount of life-steal he has. Got him to 38 stacks (380% increased damage) and finally died...he was at 60%. Such a waste of time.

BM hunter 185 ilvl vs lvl 6. I've run into this one before and wiped, but it gave me a thought. The life steal cannot kill you. The prophecy of death is the only ability that can do, barring some weird self-kill you might manage.
So dps, don't worry about your health, it'll steal it all anyway. Once you end up low health that's when the damage starts to kick in on the boss, it can't heal it up anymore.
So the order of play is:
let it steal health,
WATCH for prophecy of death and ALWAYS get out of the way of that.
Interrupt the fearsome howl, because you don't want to be feared into a prophecy.
Keep on with that and it goes down.

I just kept WB on CD, overpowered whenever I could, spammed whirlwind, ignore pain, and DBTS. Save IV for if you are really in the s**t. I made sure to focus on staying out of the purple ^&*!. You should be able to out damage the leech, it just made the fight take a little while. I did it on level 7 solo. Some things to know about this boss: he isn't as hard as he first appears. His
窃取活力
ability is supposed to take your HP as part of the mechanic. Stand in
死亡预言
and get hit by it 4 times until your HP drops to a level where you can survive a hit. Your HP will be so low that
窃取活力
won't have much of an effect. Kite the boss, attack him while he is casting.... repeat.
Needless to say, this is easier for ranged/pet classes but even melee can do this.

This is a silly ramp-up in difficulty. Doing Twisting Corridors - all is a gradual increase in difficulty levels 1-11. Then you get a boss like this with a huge health pool (out of line with the end of layer guys), that sucks the life out of you, fears you and sucks the life out of you. Pet has a 1 min CD, hunter has a 24 second one that doesn't seem to always work.
Thanks so much Blizz on thoughtfully giving all of us WITHOUT a bunch of interrupts this joy. Instead of 26 ways to kill a maw rat, or as a hunter how much bigger can a tar trap get - interrupt abilities or CD's for the measly ones we have would have been a help.
If I see this guy on a regular Torghast floor at the 3rd level, hard pass. I don't know what you can do if you are part way through TC and you get this guy - waste an hour or two of your time. Can't imagine the difficulty at layer 18 it would present.

I did this boss in Mortregar as a Vengeance DH. I came close to killing him by ignoring the fear and only trying to interrupt the heals, but i didn't have enough interrupts, and the sigils of Misery & Silence were barely useful, so it was just a long and slow losing battle and I had 101k life which didn't help anything.

This tip is only for rangeds !
Movement speed is vital on this one,30% speed is a must have ! To avoid
恐怖怒嚎
which will fear u,u can run out of the spells range(as a hunter i just backflip when he starts to cast and ran away and he wont fear u), the cast goes for 2 seconds, ofc it's better to keep ur interupt for
恐怖怒嚎
because after this one he will start to cast
死亡预言
which can 2 shot u or kill if ur hp is under half bar ! Avoiding
死亡预言
is vital to win this fight(that's why u need movement speed).
窃取活力
is interesting spell,it takes % of your health,so the more health u have, the more it will take from you, there is no reason to interupt this spell, this is the most common spell he gonna cast on you and u will lose hp fast ! I healed back only when i had left 6-8k. When i had left 10 k,this spell did only 2 k dmg.
So, don't let him cast on you
恐怖怒嚎
,avoid
死亡预言
by moving and heal, when u have less then 10 k on the bar. P.s. take anima buff, which drops health bubbles when u first time hit boss,it will fill your hp to full, once u have moved over bubble !
I did it with hunt ilvl 188 layer 7 on mort'regars
Good luck !

Died horribly a couple of times, then once I found out how to do this, this is actually one of the easiest ones to do.
Completely ignore the steal vitality cast. Yes it does damage and yes it heals him, but it's rather insignificant in the amount. You should easily be able to sustain through it on virtually any class.
Dont let the fear go off and dodge the purple. Interrupt fear, dodge purple, dont worry about steal vitality. Easy peasy.

Hi,
I'm posting this in the hopes that someone might one day find it helpful. :) This information is based on defeating the boss as a ilvl 190
德鲁伊
.
I encountered this boss on my first Layer 8 run of
莫尔特雷加
. I had been playing Feral up until about a week before the run.. but switched to Balance because I had been missing it xD .. so I initially ran this as Balance. Most of the run was fine - the magic damage was surely painful but I reached the boss with 0 deaths. And then.. the boss happened. xD I had checked this page and read all the comments which were helpful, but I ended up dying over and over and over and failing the run.
I then attempted a Layer 8 run again as Feral Druid, and was successful on the first try. What a relief. In fact, I would go so far as to say it was "easy" .. here are some of the things I learned/found useful:
I found this boss
much
easier to defeat as Feral, compared to Balance.
I agree with many of the other posters;
恐怖怒嚎
should be your top priority to interrupt,
死亡预言
can be avoided (unless you lose control due to
恐怖怒嚎
), and
窃取活力
can be generally ignored/let cast on you, but if you can safely interrupt then do so (not if it means you won't be able to interrupt the next
恐怖怒嚎
).
I would strongly advise to never select "increase your maximum HP" powers when running Mort'regar, in case you get this boss. This power will work against you as others have suggested in the comments. Instead, try to choose other Endurance powers that don't increase your maximum HP.
As a Balance Druid, my interrupt
日光术
was simply on too long of a cooldown. I felt compelled to constantly kite - his melee attacks hurt a lot - I use all my "gap creating" cooldowns but it wasn't enough to keep a healthy distance and a steady HP pool. I was unable to
台风
-interrupt his
恐怖怒嚎
because I was often too great of a distance away, fleeing from
死亡预言
. I felt success was through striking a balance between kiting/keeping enough distance to avoid melee attacks, and also staying close enough to be able to interrupt
恐怖怒嚎
. It is a balance I was not good enough to strike. xD
Feral Druid has
迎头痛击
on 15 seconds, and as a backup
割碎
on 20 seconds cooldown (plus, depending on your affinity,
夺魂咆哮
and
台风
). This was more than sufficient for me to deal with
恐怖怒嚎
.
I think I got very lucky with awesome Anima powers on my Feral run, including the ones below which I believe contributed most to my success:
3 stacks of
静谧正午饮剂
2 stacks of
充血水蛭
2 stacks of
铁木板坯
阑珊暮光饮剂
窃命利刃
荒草饰环
And, my personal favourite,
莱卡拉的饰带
My strategy as Feral Druid was to:
Interrupt
恐怖怒嚎
at all costs (using
迎头痛击
if up, otherwise if not up ensuring I had Combo Points for
割碎
- needed to stay close to Melee range)
Dodge
死亡预言
at all costs
Maintain my
割裂
,
斜掠
,
月火术
and
痛击
(normally I wouldn't have bothered with
月火术
, but it put me back into caster form which activates
树皮术
due to
莱卡拉的饰带
- shifting back to
猎豹形态
then activates
狂奔怒吼
.. such an amazing Anima power omg :D) - these DoTs were made mega strong with
静谧正午饮剂
and
阑珊暮光饮剂
, and (to a lesser extent)
荒草饰环
.
Cast
万灵之召
with
猛虎之怒
(ok.. so only the Night Fae can do this.. but I think most Druids picked Night Fae? xD)
... in the end, this strategy above was MORE than enough for me to take the boss down in less than a minute - which was extremely surprising given the 20 minutes I had spent during the previous run as Balance Druid dying 5 times in a row while trying everything I could.
In case it's helpful.. Skada showed that my top damage-dealing abilities were
斜掠
(19.2% of damage),
凶猛撕咬
(17.4% of damage), and
割裂
(12.4% of damage). It showed that my top healing abilities were
窃命利刃
(35.2% of healing),
充血水蛭
(19.3% of healing). It showed the boss healed itself for 55k damage during the encounter. I had a maximum HP pool of 29k for the encounter.

Yeah, encountered this headache in Twisting Corridors on Floor 18 in Layer 6.
As Unholy DK ilvl 202. Really really need proper anima setups to cheese this. Or its just not beatable.
The
Death Coil tank build
is essential to be able to go through Twisting corridors at all.
4x
Lich Robes
minimum tho because that means that 3x
Death Strikes
refresh
Lichborne
so that you can have it at 100% upkeep.
Also you NEED to get max hp above 100k or these mobs will just literally oneshot you and the healing wont matter. Any Stamina power or lower dmg taken on
Death and Decay
,
AMZ
etc..
Just open with
Army
,
Disease
,
Lichborne
,
Death and Decay
,
AMS
,
AMZ
,
IBF
etc etc. Then spam those
Death Strikes
til you have
Lichborne
off cd again, then do general as much dps as possible with rotation, then when
Lichborne
wears off, pop it again, get in those 3
Death Strikes
again, rinse and repeat. Also keep running around in circles around boss and dodge the ground swirly stuff as those are ALWAYS a oneshot and interrupt
Prophecy of Death
as this counters this build by lowering your max hp. His fears don't work while you're on
Lichborne
.
The
Interrupt-IBF-Dragon build
works really well with this too when you interrupt
Prophecy of Death
and if you have enough
Tomes of Swordplay
then you could almost interrupt every cast and the boss won't be able to take a breath with the perma cc and huge damage that
Ancient Drake Breath
does.
This boss died within 10 seconds with the proper build. So it's all about how you pick your anima powers with this. But the
Death Coil Lichborne tank build
is mandatory for unholy dk or it's basically impossible.

Wow. Hard fight. I got this guy as the boss of Floor 6 with 14 Anima Powers. Beat him as a iLvl 152 Balance Druid. I totally would've lost without Lycara's Sash. I took the advice of most comments and floated around 50% HP, tossing on the odd rejuvenate to keep me going. If things looked ugly, I'd Bear Form and heal up automatically from Frenzied Regen. Just kept my dots on, and did the odd Starfall. Barely got any Wraths/Starfires off. Solar Beam is an absolute MUST when he casts Fearsome Howl - if you use Typhoon, he will just cast the Fear right after.

As Feral...
Hold your interrupt for Fearsome Howl and let everything else cast. Avoid the purple circle ground effect. Do your rotation. Nothing special.
General powers advice for Ferals (and probably other classes as well):
- Take every +health power. Without it you get one shot by the bosses and mini bosses. You need a big pool to absorb hits. Without it the health regen powers, and your own heal are useless.
- Always prefer single target damage increases over AOE! You need them for the boss, and that's where you're going to have trouble.
- For Night Fae, always take the +50% Convoke power. With 2x this, Convoke alone practically takes out every boss lest the final. If you every get stuck with trash you can AFK and wait for Convoke's CD as it'll get you through any part of the run.

I was running this as a Guardian just to get the clues for the quest, run 6 levels once a day for all three clues... The third run gave me this boss and as a solo Bear he was impossible! Fortunately I had Feral affinity and could take him down very slowly but consistently in cat form, going to bear to get frenzied regeneration periodically. Pure luck got me through this guy, think it took about 45 minutes. Would not advice trying to tank him.

There is a lot about the Torghast experience to enjoy, but end bosses like this are definitely not one of them. As a tank, steal vitality was healing the boss nearly as much as my damage, so after a minute or two, it was still at 95% Lots of fun... If there are no plans for tuning this ridiculousness, perhaps they could move the end boss preview to the start so we can opt-out of these trainwrecks without losing time.

As a Vengeance DH, having encountered this boss a few times, these are my conclusions:
Doable? Probably yes.
Worth the time and effort? Probably not.
On my best attempt (at layer 8, with 192 average ilvl) I had him at about 150k/435k health, and I was mostly at as much health as I wanted to be (on other circumstances, that'd be staying near 100%, but in this case I tried quite hard to stay at lowish but safe hp). Enough patience and attempts, I'm confident I could get him down to 0. Just not worth my time.
Vengeance is a spec built around self-healing, and that makes this fight extremely annoying. You don't want to use Soul Cleave unless you are dropping under 5%, maybe 10% health. Keep using Fiery brand and Sigil of Flame on cooldown; Sigil of Silence and Sigil of Misery can be timed to avoid a few Steal Vitality casts and make the fight a bit less tedious. You will have to spam Shear through most of the fight, and move around to avoid Profecy of Death, which means that you'll be picking up healing from Soul Fragments even when you don't want it. Just as for other specs, interrupting the Fearsome Howl is top priority. Even more for Vengeance than for other builds: with the ground full of fragments you are deliberately not consuming, last thing you want is to get feared through them, getting back at full health, and be hit by a few steal vitality casts quickly refilling the boss' health and essentially resetting your efforts before you can jump back into the fight.
Depending on gear, talents, and anima powers, with a perfect execution the fight may easily take 15 - 20 minutes; and any single mistake can quickly lead to failure. So, in principle, it is doable, but it's a very long fight with very little (if any) room for errors. Unless you are in a hurry to get your legendary crafted / upgraded, you are better off waiting for next week and blazing through other wings of torghast.
If you can get a
good
group things may change; but more people in the group also means more opportunities to make mistakes. It's up to you, but for now I'll be avoiding Mort'Regar like plague, at least on this character.

190 BM hunter, met him in Soulforges Layer 8 Floor 6. It was not a great run for anima powers. The key for me was to completely ignore the Steal Vitality. I didn't even bother to interrupt it. First attempt I died because the first cast of white swirls on the floor seemed not too bad which put me off guard, then the second cast one-shot me. Second attempt I just focused on staying out of the swirls, keeping up damage and keeping my pet healed. Letting the boss steal my health meant he couldn't heal as much. I had the 25% healing bubbles power, so I'd let my hp get down to about 15% and then run through a bubble. Any lower than that and I'd risk dying to the Soulforges periodic damage debuff. I used a ferocity pet instead of a tank pet to maximize damage and lower my hp. Got him on the second try but just barely. It would've been a shorter fight if I hadn't taken a few hp-buff powers, so if you see the hologram for this guy on Floor 3, it's probably better if you don't take any more of them.

Best thing to do when you see this guy in your 3rd floor preview is leave and reset the instance.

what exactly is the intended gameplay for this boss when you have a class with a 1 minute CD interrupt and nothing else? &*!@ty boss

at first I was like wtf but gotta admit it's a fun boss. killed him on 3rd attempt as destro with conf leggy. what I did was:
voidwalker pet.
rain of chaos talent.
and all kinds of infernal anima powers, cd reduction, bonus 1 infernal, all of them.
dont heal yourself up. stay at 30-40% hp.
trinket/wotf his fears. do not panic if you get low hp. do not heal yourself to full, ever.
constantly move when the purple ground spell and dark bolts begin. just choose a direction and move, dont stop to do nothing.
you dont really need to interrupt his casts this way. save your mortal coil when you're too low on hp.
after the purple spell, drop your infernals and go nuts on chaos bolts. let your rain of chaos talent do the work. watch him melt away in the felflame heat of 6 infernals:)

This is disgusting... As blood dk at least. I heal even when I don't want to, and if you don't have the drake on interrupt, this is anything, but fun. 2 more hours wasted, again.

Was expecting a harder fight seeing the comments on this guy, maye just right class for it.
elemental shammy, earthquake on primal earth elemental with max damage, wind shear interupts on almost no cooldown, dodge the rest and nuke him down with whatever.
1.5 min and done on Twisting Corridors layer 7 floor 18

If you're a warrior save your pummel for his howl and dodge the purple spots on the ground. Do this for ten minutes straight with no mistakes and you did it. You just beat the final boss of Layer 1!

For once.. I would like to go to the Wowhead comments of a TC boss & read 'Yaay, you got lucky! Just stand & spank!'

As a destruction lock (layer 5 TC, floor 18) with 4 infernals running, their duration doubled & with Wilfreds equipped, I was able to cheese this boss just running in circles & continuously dropping rain of fire & infernals on his head. Didn't even have to use a healthstone. Wouldn't even say i got lucky since normally I have many more infernals on a much lower cd by the time I finish a run.

Did this on TC lvl4 with my destruction lock.
Like other people say, just avoid the purple swirls that hit the floor. there is 3 in a row aimed at you.
everything else you can ignore.
Just slam it with everything you have as fast as you can.
I did it in 3 phases.
1. Hit Summon Infernal (I had 4 infernals from bonus increase) then DOTS and spam Havoc/Chaos bolt.
2. stay alive until Summon Infernal cool down is ready.
3. Repeat phase 1 until its dead

BM Hunter iLevel 200, Layer 2 (Floor 18).
I died 3 times, after the first death I read comments, and tried to get fancy, letting myself lose health etc.. Then I noticed I could buy an item to reduce disengage, which stacked and brought my disengage down to 4 seconds, so I kept Aspect of the Turtle up, kept spamming disengage, which also dropped traps, and nuked him down regardless of me being on full health. It was constantly bouncing around between different types of traps and I was able to just brute force dps it. 79 anima powers, too many to list, one's of note were aspect of turtle extended and able to still dps, increase crit chance by 50% whenever i stun an an enemy (which procced on intimidation, possibly also on a trap i'm not certain).
If you are just way too kitted out in powers and heal up automatically too fast, try just going full nuke mode (and use a Frenzy pet).

Torghast can be truly a mess. On one hand it proves that dungeons can be configured for soloing, which would be awesome, such a huge opportunity!. But on the other hand, I get things like, a whole room, even crits far away, being aggroed at the same time for some unknown reason. Or a debuff that won't let you walk or jump without being selected from an anima power and can't be dispelled. Many times I just leave the instance and start again. Can't think this was the purpose. Today I even had an anima power that wouldn't let me have more than 25% damage on a single hit. Yet, I was taking more than that by far...
I can't even start to understand what is what Blizzard sees in placing a boss like this and others like Synod, Elder Longwhatever, etc. Some classes can't deal with them if soloed. Yes, promote soloing! as an added value to all other "social" options. I am guessing some of these bosses are configured through some simulations which work under some specific circumstances, but weren't fully tested for all classes.
It's absolutely no fun to go thru the entire instance for 1+ hour (layer 8) and meet this stuff at the end. Leaving a feeling of dreadfully wasted time. Really weird game philosophy. And so many other features that are totally anti-gameplay. Gosh, I want to pay for your game, but you're so good at making me lose that desire!

Only way to do this as a guardian druid is to use your interrupts on cooldown and avoid ALL anima powers that increase your health. Don't bother interrupting anything but Steal Vitality and Fearsome Howl you need as many interrupts up as possible. The WORST end boss for any Torghast level, dread doing this when Mort'regar is up.
I use this rotation to get the most out of my interrupts. Mighty Bash > Skull Bash > Incapacitating Roar/Typhoon > Incapacitating Roar/Typhoon > Skull Bash and then just whatever comes up. He will still definitely get some Steal Vitality casts in but you can interrupt
most
of them.
Thank GOD he has that channeled ability that gives you time for your CDs to come up otherwise it'd be impossible. GL bear boys

As a hunter... have the pet tank and just stay further than 30 yards away from him yourself. Thats all it takes.

Got a bit frustrated as a druid tank at 208-ish with 3 interrupts, he kept healing up and my dps was too low. After a while, I used root with "curious bramblepatch" at animalevel 3 (damage 11476/1.6 sec) and it worked! On bosses root-effect is very shortened and the boss gets temporarily immune for a while after 3 uses. But he didnt heal up to 100% until I could use root again, thus made it possible to get him down this way. The higher level of "curious bramblepatch", the better.
Edit: I was only doing a layer 5 run, if bosshealth is too high, this method would probably not work :(

If you (melee or a tank) and run into this boss, just eave the torgast and avoid the fight, you will save a lot of time and efforts.
Just fook lame developers who did steal vitality+fear mechanics

Playing on my rogue (assassination) on lvl 9 the best strat I found was to sap the caster add and just burst damage every few seconds on the boss and then vanish rinse and repeat until you win; not sure if abilities reset after vanish or if it is anima perks throughout the run.

Try this boss as a Blood DK part of my damage is also a heal. Blizz un less you wanna give a non-cooldown interrupt you can take your game and shove it. I'll go play something else why would you have such an idiotic mechanic. Cancelling Sub.

holy muck. I thought I was doing good and all of a sudden - dead. Seriously, I was going down in health but he was going down faster and then - I didn't see it, but bam. After reading the other comments, it's grin and bear it. Cut my losses and run.
