is a potential boss in Torghast, he's a gigantic armored abomination.
He has four abilities in addition to a moderate auto attack, I believe in this order on a rotation:
毒害之云
is an AOE which is dropped where Thonar stands and spreads for 45 seconds. It does dissipate.
荆棘甲壳
gives him a thorns effect which causes a set amount of damage to all attackers within 60 yards (so everybody in the room).
肉钩
can be interrupted until Unnatural Power hits 10 stacks.
非自然之力
is +10% Damage and Movement. At 10 stacks or +100% he's immune to interrupts.
Suggested strategy:
I constantly backed up and damaged him, interrupting the Meat Hook and keeping on the edge of the Noxious cloud so there's as much overlap in clouds as possible. When Thorned Shell hit, I slowed the damage and focused on recovery and damage prevention items and abilities.
Eventually Unnatural Power hits 10 and you need to burn him down ASAP.
TL;DR strat:
Pull to side
Burst first
Interrupt hook
Avoid ground crap
Be aware of DPS during Thorned Shell.
I killed him as an ilvl 155 Arms Warrior in Layer 3 solo The Fracture Chambers where he had 288k hp.

Pro-tip: if the vendor before him is selling any smoke bombs, USE THEM. So long as you stand within the area, he can’t hit you with his standard attacks, and his Meat Hook and gas clouds can be interrupted and moved out of, respectively. I just did it as an Arcane Mage, and he barely did any damage the whole fight.
Just be aware that the gas clouds do expand over time.

Will remove any of those nasty debuffs like the reduced damage or speed.

I'm sorry if this is grief but this new Torghast model of investing soooo long just to get to a boss that is next to impossible is very disheartening. My two cents THen when you try to research the boss you got , it timeout and kicks you from the dungeon.

got this guy for the last boss on layer 6 as a solo rogue, had smoke bombs (didnt do much honestly, and they have been a life saver everywhere but seemed to not work well on this boss), only got him down to 115k, has like 550k HP ... ilvl is 185. not only that but i had dogs spawning every minute on floor 6, usually right before i had to fight the boss and i had to use a couple CDs just to take the dogs down.. was able to solo everything until this point, boss does way too much damage even when you're fighting in the smoke, and I don't have enough healing/pots to make up for it. tried backing him up and didnt work. not one to admit defeat but it's pretty ridiculous. not one to be a blizzard complainer but why are dogs spawning on the boss floor, and so often? seems over tuned to me

Totally doable as a BM (181ilvl) hunter (read these comments after spending all my phantasma and so could not buy any bombs).
I just had my pet move him out of the crap on the floor, interrupted or disengaged the hook, constantly healed pet, popped hero and burned him down.

brocksteven
Did this as ilvl 171 frost mage. Make sure you pop all cds at the beginning to get as much burst as possible. Interrupting meat hook will help, don't keep casting. Otherwise, he hits quite hard so use your blinks and frost novas well to avoid him. I killed him around 8 stacks of his cc resist but I had fallen to about 25% hp and used a health potion not long before I killed him. He was 330k hp for me in layer 3.
Edit: I did not have smoke bombs so I can't say how much that would help. I did have 30% faster time in time warp which made my spells near instant though with a tundrid phial from earlier.

Tried and failed at the 280k health version as a 147 ilvl frost mage - at that low ilvl you just can't kill him fast enough so the unnatural power stacks overwhelm you...

I just solo cleared him as a 179 ilvl sub rogue on level 6. I got pretty lucky with Anima powers:
You MUST have Soothing Darkness talent. If you run Torghast using cheat death and manage to make it here, you are going to fail big time.
I cleared almost all the floors, there was one pack of two golds I left alone which was just too hard for me to handle.
I had a bigtime purple power: First Steps. I honestly think this would have been a lot harder or maybe impossible without this Anima power.
If you get Scroll of Forewarning, stack them as much as possible. I had three stacks which meant 19 seconds of evasion.
My strategy:
Pop'd potion, drums, flask, food, sharpening everything for upfront burst
Kick the hook
Between Soothing Darkness and a few of my smaller anima powers, I had him down below 50% pretty fast right outside my burst with my own hp between 50-75%. With First Steps I got two ~50k dmg Eviscerates on the boss.
Once I was out of Shadow Dance casts and Symbols of Death was still on CD. I hit the boss for a full duration 7s Kidney Shot.
After my stun, I used 19s Evasion. While all of this stuns+evasion was happening I was reapplying Rupture and Slice and Dice and gearing up for final burst.
Once my Evasion ran out, I had one cast of Shadow Dance (with another on the way) and Symbols of Death back off CD with the boss around 10-15%.
From there, it was basically burst and pray. I managed to kill him in the remaining burst with my own hp around 10% or so.

Level 5, 154 BM hunter. Was unable to finish off his 454k health, just barely losing 2x. It was late & I was asleep so I logged off. I assume I'll have to battle back to him to complete that floor. Not worth the time involved.

Soloed this guy as a 154 2 hand frost dk. He's tough, but doable. I had that death coil enhancement with three stacks of it so my attack speed and damage done was 90%. Freakin ungodly. Interrupt every meat hook and dont dps at all during his shield. Got memory of a Frozen Champion too.

Layer 4, Subtlety rogue ilvl 180 solo'd this quite easily. I did get Crimson Vial cooldown down to 10 seconds. Other than that, he's really slow while thorns is up, so just kite him and use that time to get some of your cooldowns back up. Interrupt his hook and don't hit him while thorns are up.

Did this as an ilvl 151 Holy Priest layer 6, level 6. Healers are really really easy in torghast in general, and this wasn't all that different. I had that knockback power that when he hits it knocksback so until 10 stacks he didnt do anything, just spam nuked him, he'd get close and bounce back repeat. Would angle him so he'd walk out of his poo slime and just run and heal while running out. Got scary at 11 stacks but he was only there for a few seconds. Had just 258k HP as a healer, lol

Since people seem to be having some issues with this boss, I'll say how I soloed him today as a 165 BM hunter (with no smoke bombs available as others say made it a lot easier). I used one healing potion that costs 35 phantasma.
Used a Clefthoof (by itself) for good tankiness and leech.
Popped hunter's mark before pull (had 2x +10% damage to marked targets), then Mend Pet, then sent my pet in. Pop Primal Rage at the start and just go to town. Don't worry about moving your pet out of the Noxious Cloud during this part. Keep DPSing through the first Thorned Shell, your leech will sustain you through it. Keep Mend Pet rolling on cooldown for the entire fight.
Interrupt every single meat hook. It should be cooled down quick enough that you can get every one. Since he casts it during Thorned Shell, you will end up taking some damage from it.
Once Primal Rage is gone, keep DPS going until he starts casting Thorned Shell. As soon as you see this, stop attacking altogether. I pressed F1 to target myself and clicked Passive on my pet to bring it back to me. The only thing you should hit him with during the Thorned Shell is a single Counter Shot to prevent the Meat Hook from hitting you. He's super slow during this time, so you can just allow your pet to heal and let him walk out of the Noxious Cloud a bit.
Once the Thorned Shell is gone, back to DPS. KEEP MEND PET UP. As Unnatural Power stacks, things will start getting squirrely towards the end. Your pet will probably die. Use the slow movement period during Thorned Shell to revive it. Keep kiting and doing that damage. Use Exhilaration and a healing potion and you should be able to finish him off before he finishes you off.

Soloed as 178 Feral, no conduits, no legendary.
Bursted w/ Convoke to start off.
Interrupt every meat hook.
Keep him toward the edge of the room. After interrupting meat hook, use Soulshape, Stampeding Roar, Roots, or Dash to get distance then heal up w/ Regrowth. Head back in and dot him up / burst what you can. Rinse and repeat.
By the time Convoke was back off CD it was enough to finish him off.
Like lots of these bosses he has a stacking damage buff so the longer you take the harder he hits. I'd say my DPS is pretty poor so seems doable with a lot of classes.

Not sure if its a bug or not but I tried soloing this guy ilvl 166 Enh Shaman on level 3 and can get him to about 25% but then I stop generating mana from auto attacks which of course means the end. I don't see anywhere in his abilities profile that lists anything that stops mana regen. Its frustrating to say the least when you nearly beat him 5 times in a row only to get killed because you cant use any of your abilities.

Allright, beast master hunter 160. The secret for me is to take the anima power called Spectral Oats which heals you when you are running. Have your pet tank him and keep moving when you take damage. When he puts the green stuff on the ground, have your pet come to you and heal it all the time. When he moves away from the green stuff, tell your pet to attack him and remember to interrupt the meat hook. I spent all my phantasma to buy extra things and buffs but the one thing that saved me was the Spectral Oats so be sure to take it.

150 outlaw rogue - crushed the first couple times i fought him. I basically would blow all cds and do dmg until thorns. I didnt really interrupt meat hook, I usually just went where the wall stick out and los while healing. I had crimson veil costing 0 so that helped, but basically dps, run and heal when thorns, los meathook, dps, if you get low evasion/cloak, you can blind, just keep running and losing until crimson veil is back up, played it safe at the end and waited to engange when defensive cds back up and was fine. If you can't beat it, you might not have gotten the right buffs or just had bad debuffs. Make sure to break every pot and kill every rare in torghast so you buff up as much as possible.

171 Destro Lock, and 90 minutes grinding through layer 6 Skoldus only to get steamrolled by this guy 6 times in a row. Had a decent spread of anima powers, instant cast pets, 15% self heal on the occasional cast, 100% increased duration infernal, lots of fun stuff.
And my absolute best attempt was 34%. 510k hp was just waaaaaaay too much for me to grind through, even if I just face tanked through the thorn spam. If I tried to fear/stun him, my dps check was even worse.

I really like Torghast. It's fun going through the floors with different powers and tactics. But the bosses are completely hit and miss. Most I've encountered are just too hard, just like this one. If you have the right powers you have a chance, but without...forget it. And then it becomes agony instead of fun to realise you ended up with nothing. Blizzard really needs to take a look at this. Maybe let you keep half of your soul ash when you die and give up at the boss?

Tactic I used for Twisting Corridors Layer 8, Floor 18 as an MM hunter:
Keep a tar trap on him at all times with 2 or 3 of the anima powers that buffs it's slow. Whatever you do, do not attack him during Thorned Shell, this can easily one shot you at high layers. Dismiss your pet after lusting so it doesn't get you killed. The only way he can hurt you is melee or Thorned Shell. As long as you keep him slowed in his puddles you'll be fine.

No problem for a Night Fae, Balance druid at 198 iLvL. I had a lot of powers by the time I met him, but I just kept at max distance, always moving, mostly just keeping my dots on him. Encountered this guy on Skoldus Hall, was able to comfortably ignore the mechanics at ~ilvl 180 or so as a Prot Warrior and a whole wackload of anima powers. In Twisted Corridors floor 18, however, it would have been difficult but easily soloable. Except for one stupid, stupid thing...
Skeletal Ward.
I had picked it up some time before floor 15, when you find out what the final boss is for the layer. This undismissable guardian will trigger his damage reflect on each hit, making Thorny Shell completely unavoidable whether or not you stop attacking. Tuned for Twisting Corridors, even the slow-ish damage caused by the skeleton's low attack speed is
not
something that you want to try and soak especially at high stacks of Unnatural Power. If you use your ravenous cell on one of the skeleton minions summoned by the Deathspeakers because you thought the powers available in Skoldus Hall are all really boring, then your run is over. Oops!
Your only hopes at that point are to save all of your stuns and crowd controls to interrupt Thorny Shell. If you stun him, he will not recast it right away and you can safely just avoid the puddles and interrupt meathook with your regular silence. More likely though it won't be enough since eventually you'll run out of stuns to use unless you got REALLY lucky with your anima powers.
What a stupid mistake to end a run, my god. Don't take Skeletal Ward.

On demo lock you'll probably have 40 demons out when he casts thorns, and they will quickly kill you even if you switch your main pet to passive. This is probably obvious in retrospect but, fear him and they'll all stop attacking. He'll just stand there for 20 seconds while you heal or whatever. Save your stun for his other mechanics.

as a destro lock this guy on twisting corridors layer 8 floor 18 is basically impossible. all ur damage comes from infernal basically and having infernal out makes it impossible to keep him feared as with all the powers infernal hits so hard he breaks fear instantly. then said infernal will continue to damage him during thorns basically one shotting u. i probably could have done it with the power that gives voidwalker more hp/damage on every floor. but i didnt know this thorns mechanic the first time, and died, thus losing all stacks on voidwalker making him no longer able to tank for me with such low hp. basically a 3 hour run thrown away. fun game

Twisting Corridors, Layer 8, Floor 18.
Took me 11 minutes to beat him as an Arms Warrior. Anima Powers that helped me:
The mandatory
Unbound Fortitude
for 100% uptime on Die by the Sword.
Bottled Enigma
- run away when he is casting the hook, if you're not able to interrupt it. You can also use smoke bombs from the vendor, as others have pointed out.
Other than this, nuke him whenever possible. Don't try to hit him during thorns, as you will most likely be one shotted. Also don't step in the Noxious Clouds, as that's even more deadly than thorns.

I don't get some of the bosses in Torghast. As an affliction lock with voidwalker this guy is fairly easy regardless of what powers I have. Voidy ignores the pools of $%^& so he turns into a tank and spank, just run back out of the pools when he hooks yet other classes struggle. I have the same issues where you have to interrupt too many things. There are a couple of bosses that are nigh on impossible to do solo for me as I'm sure players of other classes are finding out and it really doesn't matter what powers you gain throughout the run.

I can literally find no way to kill this boss as a Destro warlock on Floor 18 of Twisting Corridors. The thorns shield is absolutely broken and eventually one-shots me. Best attempt I've had was fearing during thorns but occasionally a blast of damage would go off and eventually you get one-shot by it. Some of the powers I've taken include boosting my Voidwalker up to 145k hp, myself to 82k hp, having 5 infernals out at once, a 7-second shadowfury stun, etc etc... I haven't gotten him below 40% yet.
Huuuuuuge waste of 3 hours of my life to be met with a near impossible boss. Also... twice now that I've had this happen. Tried a couple of days ago as affliction and had the same result.
Guess I'll just wait for the inevitable nerf because it's tuned terribly.

Torghast Corridor - layer 6, floor 18
Havoc DH ilvl200 solo
Collective Anguish legendary
Important anima: 4 x 20% chance to cast Eye Beam no cooldown for total of 80% (I couldn't get one more for 100% cd reduction); Had HP at 180k; immune to damage during eye beam
Other anima: had Blade Dance on cd, Immo Aura buff, nothing out of the norm here
Wiped 3 times (I'm a slow learner)to this guy thinking I could just go in and essentially avoid puddles, interrupt hooks and zerg - didn't go well. Boss melee'd me for 200k. 3rd death, the boss was at 3%...
On last death, spammed as many eye beams in a row due to the 80% no cd. Interrupted meat hooks because that stuns you for 1-1.5 secs and if you get melee'd, you might get one shotted. Didn't attack and Ran away from boss whenever thorns were up - boss has movement speed reduction when thorns is up. Ran away from boss when eye beam was on cd. Went back in and spammed eye beams until they were on cd and ran out. Since I took no dmg during eyebeams, I wasn't worried about being melee'd. I did get hooked 2x and was worried that the boss would get a melee in, so if I didn't have any interrupts, I'd blur - alternatively, you can dash out and use the smoke screen to avoid getting hooked.
WIthout being immune to dmg during eye beam, I could see how this fight is impossible for Havoc DH. If you can get 100% cd reduction (5 of those 20% anima orbs) for eye beam, just !@#$ there and spam this ^&*! out of it and interrupt meat hooks. With Fel Eruption, Chaos Nova and Hunt Stun (anima orb), you should have no problems.

We pulled it off. He's a DK and was in Blood, I'm a Warlock and was in Destro. The key was to interrupt each and every Thorns cast, and as many Meat Hooks as possible. We missed one thorns, and I was only saved by the Pod Night Fae ability.

So I got him running Twisting Corridors 5 on level 18, final boss.
Some things that helped as far as mechanics.
Obscuring Mists makes the Meat Hook easy to avoid. Just run the circle outside of him when he starts to cast and it fails.
Save your stuns for his Thorned Shell, don't worry about the Noxious Cloud, you can lead him out of that.
If you're ranged, which I wasn't, don't let him get on top of you, he will kill you fast. 80k hits that come extremely fast.
Keep him snared, slowed, whatever as much as you possibly can, stun him and hit, then retreat.
If he gets his shield up, STOP DPS'ing him. Run away and heal.
You need to kite him constantly at 10 stacks of Unnatural Power. Stun, hit, snare, run, heal, repeat.
The gas clouds do go away after a bit, so position them if possible to give you room to move.
6 million health on TC5. It took me 6 tries to get it right.
Good luck. I honestly don't think he would be possible for every class. His damage is to high, and he requires a moderate amount of CC to handle.

I'm an ilvl 198 unholy DK. Made it through all 18 layers of torghast twisted corridors layer 1 no problem. Full lives. Nothing even close to challenging. Cleared every little thing to make sure I'd be ready for unexpected challenges. This guy's last boss (again, floor 18, but only layer 1) and I couldn't come near to beating him. The thorned shell can't be interrupted. You can stun him while he's casting, but sometimes he'll cast the thorned shell too fast sequentially so stun will be on cooldown. You can run away, but he'll meat hook you back. Since my only non-stun interrupt is melee, I can't interrupt meathook since I'm running from the thorned shell. Meat hook + thorned shell = dead (it does something like 40k / second). Killed me 6 times. Wasted over 2 hours of my life.
Probably do-able as a ranged class or as a melee with multiple stuns and/or a ranged interrupt. As a melee class with one stun and one melee interrupt, I'm not sure how this is possible. I had over 100k heath. I was switching my pet to passive when running from the thorned shell.
A really easy fix would be making thorned shell interruptible (reading other comments, it sounds like it is in the non-twisting corridors version).
Insane this is layer 1 and that leading up to this boss I was able to cruise through 18 floors without dying, thinking, or trying. Pretty frustrating the solution for making "challenging content" is to have a randomly unbeatable boss. I wouldn't be that mad if this were a higher layer or difficulty, but, again, Layer 1. It wasn't like I waded through two hours of challenging content to reach this pinnacle of WoW skill. I cruised through 2 hours of cake to bite into an undigestible rock.
If you're reading this comment looking for advice, my advise is: don't bother with Torghast. If that annoys you, consider unsubscribing / uninstalling. I know I am!

Got this boss for
Layer 8, Floor 18
. So basically the hardest iteration possible with around almost 8mil HP I think. After some dumb attempts, trying to brute force it, I had to switch it up (I had very good luck on Anima Powers so I had just been RAWR'ing through the last few floors, carelessly having fun).
Lowly Lvl 200 Frost Mage here
. The ONE thing that won me this fight and the mount, was checking Wowhead after 3 attempts (I know, I'm dumb), and reading
NOT to attack during his THORNED SHELL (even as RANGED)
. Even after reading that the first time, I thought it was a melee "rule" so I wasted one attempt until it "clicked".
To sum it up, and some extra tidbits:
- Went into the fight with over 200k HP after all the previous floors' Anima buffs.
- When I finally wised up, and
STOPPED ALL RANGED ATTACKS during THORNED SHELL
, the fight was stupid easy, just took some time kiting.
- I had the Anima Power for the SUPER JUMP, so I used that to out distance his meat hook (although I could have counterspelled, but this gave me some distance to reposition and DPS).
- I had the Anima Power that makes my
Fire Blast an interrupt
, so I used that to interrupt a few of his THORNED SHELL casts in order to get some extra DPS time in.
-
SAVE ICE BLOCK
in the event that you have images out, or blizzard is mistimed when he does his THORNED SHELL, etc. That damage will return to you while not being able to do anything about it (unless you IB). Depending on where you are in the fight, that passive damage from THORNED SHELL may be enough to one or two-shot you.
Good luck and have fun!

depends on layer too. 203 BM hunter and resto shaman. This boss had 12.8 million HP and each tick of his Thorn Shield did 54k damage. So since the companion pet will not disengage until something is dead or you attack something else, this will be constant damage during his thorn shield.
Shaman friend died every time due to flameshock dot when he would bring his shield up.
There is also the problem with powers that do extra damage over time, these also cause his shield to rock you.

FYI: As a shaman I used Purge against his Thorn Shield and it seemed to go down every time. Combined with a tough pet (Earth Elemental with earthquake and heroism) it made the fight pretty tolerable.

I got him on Skoldus Hall layer 8. BM hunter ilvl 193. Died once before I started interrupting meat hook (duh) and using "Move To" on pet to kite him out of the green floor goo. I chose all DPS anima powers working my way through the floors, so he went down pretty fast.

well, killed him at twisted corridor lvl8 as last boss(floor 18), so far the easiest boss I encountered in these long twisted corridor runs ,and without smoke bomb as a Blood DK with 210 ilvl .

Got him at Floor 18, Layer 1 as an affliction warlock, this is completely broken. It is nearly impossible to kill him with his stacking damage buff and the fact that we have absolutely no way of avoiding his shell unless you spam fear at which point you basically can't do damage between keeping your pet alive and worrying about the friggin shield. Waste of 1.5 hours... No combination of anima powers would get over this, the shield ends up one shotting you at one point.

ilvl 230 Guardian Druid.
Irrespective of what powers you have, the basics are:
* Move him out of slime
* Do not attack during his Thorns aura. He will immediately follow his Thorns with the meat hook. You can choose to interrupt it, alternatively, once he cast Thorns, move as far away from him as you can, that way the stun from meat hook will wear off while you travel through the air.
*Once his Thorns has dropped, that is your DPS window. Slow and steady wins the race.
