Beware, this nasty fella will be shooting evil goop at you, reducing your flying speed. It also has an evil great range, which means it can rapid fire evil goop onto you to stack up to some nasty effects. You'll basically be crippled in regards to flight!
Has anyone on the PTR teamed up to take down just one of those things?
Monstrous Kaliri of Uldum and the Vale. There is more than one of them, basically there to prevent you from flying too high up and will apply a stacking flight snare debuff if near one(30% per stack, can stack up until having 50% flight speed?). Thankfully they're very noticeable so you'll be able to avoid them if flying low. Don't try to attack them either, they got about 140mil hp and bit into my rogue for about 970k+
This might be a reference for
, an antagonist in the web cartoon Bravest Warriors.
This is basically a flying Fel Reaver. Don't bother fighting it, just run when you see it.
The debuff stacked up to 11 for -330% flight speed for my priest. Still was flying at 110% for some reason.
this enemy was added just to be annoying, what a pointless time waster
When you don't have idea to provide better content, you just make something like this to give players bad time with very bad dailies.
I wish they could just add these kind of mobs to all zones eligible for flying. its such a great addition to this game
Be aware to not get in Melee Range...
"Great Worm From Beyond Melee hit You 296,120 Physical. (506.423 Overkill)"
Major pointless nuisance - another stepping stone in the Devs' fight against flying. These seem to fly just above the altitude most people choose to cruise at, so if you are looking at the ground - you probably won't notice one until you get hit with a flying speed debuff. 3 minute stacking speed debuff. They probably expect thanks for not making it half an hour like that other nuisance debuff they added. At this point if you do not land or dismount - the thing will keep chasing you further slowing you down until it catches you and hits for just under a mil physical melee. I assume it can hit again, but somehow never got the health to test it.
So I've spent a long time on a looong quest in order to be able to fly. And I waited for even loooooonger until I finally was allowed to.
And now I get punished for using a flying mount unless I skim the surface and still zigzag around those flying idiots?
I assume the implementation of those nuisances is somehow connected to PvP issues - which I couldn't care less about, btw. And if this really is the reason for this complete annoyance, then it is ridiculously implemented.
Solution @ devs: If a player doesn't have war mode active, he's immune to the cast, or maybe even to the complete darn worm!
I have zero sympathy for the devs.
I'm not sure where all the negativity is from. It's like a flying whale, easy to spot, easy to avoid. Looks cool and just aesthetically adds more to the zone, I just wish it dropped something rare.
I really don't get the point of this mob. If they don't want flight in the game anymore, they should stop designing content that is obnoxious without it.
I would have loved to be in this design meeting...
"Hey, let's put something in the game that serves absolutely no other purpose than to annoy our players!"
<sarcasm>Because you know that's what this game needs...</sarcasm>
What this game really needs is new designers.
Why are there so many crybabies in this comment section? Yikes.
How are you guys even dying to these things.. theres only a couple in the zone flying pretty high up. You can easily avoid them by flying lower or just not in their path. And as for chasing.. I had to actually chase one because I wanted to see how high the debuff gets, or if it auto kills/dismounts at a certain level.. but it kept flying away. It probably has to actually path through you before it tries to attack you.
I have yet to die to any of these things. I suspect they are more to kill people that afk high in the air and not anyone actually just flying around while questing.
Will likely two-shot any 110 players flying through Uldum to get their Heart of Azeroth, as I found out when I got smacked for 11k on an alt.
I've never had any trouble with these guys in the slightest, and I don't pay any attentions while doing these dailies.
Why are you guys flying so damn high?
It takes longer to land from a high altitute, so
flying higher surely doesn't speed dailies up
These things add up to the aesthetic imo, and those laser beams might be for non-flying, but I fly way lower than those worms' max range, and don't get any trouble whatsoever.
Don't blame the devs for something you can easily avoid.
Feel free to downvote this comment because you disagree for some reason
I have noticed on my Shadow Priest that I can get almost right up on the worm in void form and they wont aggro but if I take void form off they aggro. Found this out by hitting auto run key in flight and looking at map and almost running into one. Got curious and went back, got even more curious and turned off void form. Instant death as he turned and bit me. Am unsure if this is a bug with my particular character or intended or if it is a combination of void form and Xal'atath transmog.
For anyone else wishing to test my shadow priest never completed the quest to drain Xal'atath of her power. Not sure if that would matter but I figured that would be something most people did in Legion but I did not because I was sentimental and also had a conspiracy theory that the sword was meant to drain Old God corruption since He could have easily cut the planet in half and the animations on the giant sword were going up the blade. That and I never could stand being ordered around by that moron Magni, he is friendly enough but quite the moron.
Beware of a (hopefully) bug that I have encountered a couple of times.
Instead of simply beaming you and slowing you, which is wholly on my fault, I flew wrong, these bastards, particularly in the Vale during Mantid Assault, have a tendency to grow fond of me and start chasing my ass. Continously casting the beam, making it impossible to get away, and not de-aggroing even if I land. If this happens to you, you are dead. I have had one chase me from the Gate all the way to Shrine before it caught up and 2shot me.
I'm ok with the beam. Being chased to death-... Not so much.
I kinda get the vibe this might be a Fel Reaver from TBC yes but the implementation feels like it's been made by someone who heard about this Fel Reaver thing but never experienced it themselves.
If you simply made vicinity of that thing to start hearing whispers that get louder the closer it get and it makes the environment go darker the closer you get and you start seeing eyes around you that would've really been a Fel Reaver experience even magnified.. .but instead you just have a flying worm that kills you either due to curiosity or half-afk... the whispers would at least wake you from being half-afk.. .so yeah I can 100% agree with the people here saying its bad game design.. like so much in WoW..
The most annoying NPC in the game of all time.
And that's saying something!
Naughty flyers get the WORM OF OPPRESSION.
These things literally only exist to make you spend a longer amount of time in the game
Just to keep you subbed for longer. But I can see someone quitting because of these boring quests and these bastards slowing one down=no sub at all.
One spawned right in front of me and zapped me like 7 times before I could get away from it. Had to AFK for 3 minutes just so I could move again. What a fun mechanic.
I hope we can tame these one day
In case someone else is curious how hard they hit at 60:
Their attacks miss a lot but when they hit, they dealt about 19k DMG to my iLvL 200 Fury Warrior.
I noticed that at level 60, it appears sometimes the
actually "misses" and doesn't apply the debuff. I was in Uldum doing some old content and the worm shot me 3 times in a row, but no debuff was applied. I wanted to test this out, so purposely flew by the worm again several times. Only in one instance did the debuff apply. So apparently this spell can, and does, miss.
