It would seem for this
, you need to kite it to the magnet inside of Bondo's Scrap Yard, there is a electro-magnet thing basically acrossed from him. Once the bot is in front of it, the
will explode and turn to a pile of rubble. Loot, so far was a yellow punch card (epic), the blue print for the key (unknown at this time if it works on
itself), a mount, and some other miscellaneous items. No one as of 4/19/2019 had a clue how to open it until a very helpful druid named Jaconi, suggested the magnet. Regardless of where on the island it is, KITE the Vaultbot to that magnet...it almost looks like a "tower" type thing, it has like blue lightning volts on it. Sorry for the terrible description, but you should recognize it once in the yard of Bondo. Happy looting!
Found him patrolling/chasing someone at 55 / 70.
At the moment the rare will keep chasing you endlessly until someone else taunts/gets threat.
The bot takes significantly less damaged and needs to be kited to Bondo's Yard - 63.5/39.0 . The rare exploded into gold/scrap on the floor, somewhat similar to Opulence when he dies except it's just one gold pile.

Part of the
First time kill: You need to pull the rare and
kite it to the Bondo's Yard (63.12 39.21)
After you killed it for thee first time and got the blueprint you can craft the
and use it on the rare or still kite the rare to the spot.
For TomTom users:
/way 57.56 48.01 Vaultbot
/way 63.12 39.21 Kite here
Not sure how am I supposed to kite him because for me he keeps resetting like any other mob the moment I pull him too far.
If for whatever reason he got immune/reset and he walks back to his spawn point, DO NOT use your
while his walking back, the key will get consumed and you cannot kill him...rip my key
A group of players and my self tried for an hour to kite this guy and he kept resetting.
Is the key convenience in not having to kite to Bondos or is it the only way to get the pet/paint vial?
Does anyone know the respawn timer? Been camping him for so long without effect
Be careful not to use the key on him when he's evading. This causes you to lose the key and does not open him.
Nothing is more beautiful than seeing players come together to insult the hunters that keep their pet taunt on while kiting this rare.
In the alternate timeline, you do not have to kite him he will explode as soon as you "open" it.
Note that the
does not drop from the
if you've already looted it that day.
I thought that would be the case, but tried it anyway. Don't bother!
The fact that Rogues cannot lockpick this mob is insulting.
I can confirm that the alt time vaultbot drops both the paint vial and the pet. You can make vaultbot keys and farm him there daily without waiting for spawns.
Do have to get the key blueprint first, of course.
If you kite him to the magnet, it counts as your kill for the day.
If you open him with a key in Alt Time, it counts as your kill for the day.
You cannot do both in one day (and get loot). If you go to alt time after kiting, you can't unlock it (which fortunately does not use a key).
If you encounter him in "The Other Place" during the quest for Chromie you cannot kite it! It will evade. You need the KEY. You can only kite it in your main timeline.
Note: Although it is buried at the bottom of some poor bloke's comment about it resetting constantly..You can't kite it in Apocalypse Mech. Despite the fact it is for a Apocalypse quest. I Have never seen it in Normal Mechagon and surmised logically that it only appeared in the Apocalypse Mechagon.
So I don't know if it is a rare spawn in Normal Mech, if it is in a different locale or if the massive Emerald Dream Horde one shot it everytime it shows up with their lovely raid groups.
But apparently you can't kite the wee thing in the Apocalypse Mechagon for who knows why.
Dear hunters, your pets suck, turn taunt off for this.
Sincerely everyone else kiting
A more accurate spawn point (from alternative timeline, which is presumably the same):
/way 53.34 49.56 Vaultbot
You get a guaranteed spawn in Alternate Mechagon when you use
and go to the spawn point, although you can´t kite, you need to use
Trying to loot this every day on two characters until I get the pet. So far the shortest I've waited for a respawn was 8 minutes and the longest has been 84 minutes.
It's DONE. On the longest wait of 1 hour and 24 minutes I finally got the pet after 63 total attempts.
Can't use the key if you're in combat, and possibly if it is as well. I hit it first in alt time, and had to run away to drop combat, then I got the gear symbol on mouseover, opened it, got the reward.
I didn't see this mentioned yet, so for those of you seeking the rare and adorable
, I wanted to point out that you don't have to tag vaultbot to be eligible to loot
, so you can loot the same spawn on more than one toon. You just have to be quick with logging in/out as
seems to last for about one minute before it despawns. I always keep my
-hunting alts logged out at the magnet (63.3, 38.9). If there's no delays in logging/looting (e.g. if someone uses the key so the NPC isn't kited to the magnet), I'm able to loot the same
on three toons, especially if I fly to the hearth area in Rustbolt (71.3, 36.1 by the mailbox) for an instant logout rather than waiting 20 seconds at the magnet. You might be able to squeeze in more toons than three, I don't know - I haven't tried beyond three. Since vaultbot spawns less often than the other rares around him (looking at you,
!), this is a huge time-saver for me.
I didn't have to kite this mob. Someone else just killed it (or opened it, not sure, they did something and it disappeared) and it left a pile on the ground which I could loot, and gave me the blueprint for the key.
Tried using a key on this dude & it wouldn't work. I wasn't attacking it nor was anyone around. Not sure what's up there..
I do not have the key blueprint, and from everything I've been able to gather from comments here, I have to do the kite method on armored vaultbot in normal universe at least once to get the blueprint. So, I've been camping its spawn for about 2 hours. If there's some other way to get the blueprint, please tell me. I am extremely frustrated. This reminds me of why I will eternally remember Everquest as time in hell.
I'm confused, is it necessary to kite him in order to obtain certain loot? I used the key and he exploded on the path...dropped stuff, nothing good. Not sure what the kiting process is for. Thanks in advance, ive been unable to get a clear answer through reddit etc.

I did not read every comment, just the highest rated, so sorry if this has already been said.
You do NOT need to tag Vaultbot to loot once it has been kited to Bondo's Yard. I missed the kiting and just got to Bondo's as he dropped the gold and was still able to loot.
The pile does stay on the ground for a little while.
By quickly exiting and relaunching the game, I am able to loot the same pile on three different well placed characters from a single spawn. Four may be possible if you have a better PC and less addons then me.
I was able to loot one
with three characters.
Here is how I did it.
01] Park character 1 next to the magnet and logoff ... takes 20 seconds to logout.
02] Park character 2 next to the magnet and logoff ... takes 20 seconds to logout.
03] Bring character 3 near the spawn point of the Armored Vaultbot.
04] If the Armored Vaultbot is up you are ready to proceed. Go to step 09.
06] If the Armored Vaultbot is not up. log off ... takes 20 seconds.
07] Log on with character 3 and see if the Vaultbot is up.
08] Go to step 04.
09] Kite the Vaultbot to the magnet.
10] Loot the pile of gold.
11] Fly to Mechagon rest point near mailbox and logoff ... takes less than 20 seconds.
12] Log on with character 1 and fly to the magnet and loot the pile of gold.
13] Fly to Mechagon rest point near mailbox and logoff ... takes less than 20 seconds.
14] Log on with character 2 and fly to the magnet and loot the pile of gold.
This saves you from using
Also, if your character doesn't have the Tinkering to create the key you can loot it this way.

Okay folks, for Noobs or Oldz or parents who can't live on these games and in these forums, here's a different way of looking at this:
1. Vaultbot spawns in regular timeline (not in the alternate future timeline), and the spawn point is somewhere around the forking paths/roads outside Bondo's Yard on the west side of your map.
2. Hit it and don't die as it slowly follows you while you walk it all the way to Bondo's Yard. (This is equal to "kiting it", as recommended in so many other comments here.)
3. You have to walk it all the way up to the "magnet" inside the gold "target" ring that you usually use for the bot-scrapping quest (it will be on the farther side of the yard from your entry point with the vaultbot).
4. I got the Vaultbot Key Blueprints on my first go, so hopefully you will too.
Didn't see any comments about what happens if you kill him without using the key or kiting him - took 32 minutes of my life and he left no loot behind, only an unlootable pile of gold. Worth it in the name of science.
It turns out if you take it to Drustvar it will phase out. This is surely not the correct path to get to Bondo's yard.
