Looks like a draenor-skinned raptor spirit beast. Wonder where it will end up? Hunters seeing a lot of cool new pets in 7.2. I'll keep this post updated as much as I can! I wonder if the name is a clue?
This guy can be found at the Warlock trainer's hut in the Valley of Spirits
At the pile of skulls there will be a blue glowing egg. You destroy it to spawn him.
As a note you need to be a hunter in BM spec to see it. The respawn time can take a while and will be at least 30 minutes but possible a lot longer. Same as the feather for the spectral gryphon.
It may also relate to Trolls, being a spirit raptor and all.
They have a raptor Loa named Gonk. This one could be related.
Dinosaur named Gon...? Wonder
I have seem that before....
He spawns from an Spectral Eggshell that you can click on. You can find it between the bowl of jewels and the pile of skulls that are on blue fire.
Eggshell here. Unsure of the spawn timer, but you need to be 110 to click it, other classes cannot see it.
Now the question is...is this tamable by Alliance, or will the guards just annihilate you for trying?
Tamed 11pm server time, EarthenRing-US
The respawn is at least 1 hr (estimated). I was there 46 minutes.
Tame was simple; he doesn't attack until the tame starts, and doesn't hit hard. Dunno if CC works but it wasn't necessary.
As the other comment said, the eggshell is on the floor between the pile of skulls and the bowl of stuff. It is bluish-white.
I had just used a Stealthman item to stealth, just out of boredom, and in the 5 or 6 seconds I was stealthed, it spawned.
Coincidence or not, IDK, but I got him tamed.
It seems you need to be level 110 to even see the Spectral Eggshell. I have multiple hunters and just tested it. My 110 could see it while my 101 and 109 alts could not.
tame Gon below level 110!
You just need a level 110 to click the eggshell for you.
Gon scales to your current level. I've confirmed this to work with a friend who was able to tame Gon at level 85 after I clicked the eggshell for him (the eggshell was invisible to him).
The reason why this raptor is named Gon is due the amount of time you wasted camping for the egg to spawn.
To Ally wondering if they can tame this: yes you can. (And Horde can tame the Gryphon in SW) But I would recommend waiting a while for the hype to die down since there will be lots of campers and you will be flagged for PVP since he spawns inside a Horde city.
im pissed off the eggs has finaly spawn after 1hour and i've missclick my FD so the eggs has despawn but no raptor D:
I've been sitting here for over 4 1/2 hours and still no egg😔
I feel shortchanged. Alliance gets that beautiful gryphon, we get...this.
Not sure when it was tamed last before I started camping, but I sat at the egg's spawn point for seven and a half hours without seeing a single spawn.
I tamed Gon at 11am EST on US-Sentinels.
The hunter before me was camping for about an hour and a half before I got there. He gave up and I camped for about 2 more hours before the egg showed up. Total spawn time that we saw was at least 3.5 hours.
I camped on US-Saurfang from 10pm server time 13th april 17 until 2:10am server time 14th April 17.
After a four hour camp, the spectral eggshell spawned.
I clicked on it, it's about a 1.5 second 'cast' bar.
Gon did not spawn. Bugged as multiple other people have said.
I raised a ticket, really hoping blizzard help me out on this one.
Waited 7 hour+, Shell spawned, clicked it, nothing happend, gg :'(
Just tamed this beauty on Argent Dawn RP, realm time 11:15pm. Luckily the egg was right there, so no camping needed! No special tactics needed either. Good luck to fellow hunters :-)
Try number two.....clicked the egg and still nothing. Blizzard really needs fix this. I don't mind the camping but when nothing happens it's beyond frustrating.
According to a friend who tamed it when the egg spawned he phased so we can assume everyone who is present can get it
Do you have to be 110 to tame them?
If you click it can another hunter steal it?
My response from a GM about this bug.
Typical copout response.
I have kept ticket open and suggested they meet me in my garrison and spawn Gon for me to tame safely in my garrison so nothing goes wrong.
Very disappointed, no respect for customer's time at all.
2nd response, another no.
Also @ the moron below, I camped poundfist for days and time lost proto for 8 months. I got both, and they were not bugged.
I've now seen this egg spawn twice (5hrs apart) and each time I was the only one there. I spawned Gon and began taming. Both times another hunter swooped in (The first one stole aggro and stole the tame, the second one killed the raptor just so I wouldn't have it). Heads up to other hunters that just because you are the one that spawns him doesn't mean other hunters won't try and ruin your day.
Update: Finally got the tame. Was passing through Org when another hunter who already had the tame mentioned in trade chat that the egg was there. Hope restored in my fellow players :)
Got the bug this morning, 11.30 am on EU serv. Clicked the egg, nothing happenened. Still not fixed
I was waiting for hours for the Spectral Eggshell to spawn. Finally did at 9:29 est. Clicked the eggshell (after trapping the nearby guard) and nothing happened...it did the destroy bar and no Gon :( I have added my story to the list in the bug forums at Blizz. Those of you that put in a ticket..what did you put it under? Most categories don't seem to give you a chance to add a ticket just a bug report.
Tamed at 11:20 AM server time on Alleria with my hunter. Egg spawned at the base of the glowing skull pile at the mage trainer in Valley of Spirits in Org and I clicked then tamed. Easy tame does not hit hard.
So to add to the bug where you click the egg and nothing happens...I clicked the egg, Gon spawned on top of the skulls, but trying to tame him resulted in "invalid target" message. Another hunter got the tame :( The player that got the tame said they were also getting the "invalid target"message but just kept spamming tame beast.
Before you ask: Yes I am 110 BM hunter in BM spec.
A note to Horde campers:
If you see Alliance hunters and they're not causing trouble, please return the favor. They're not there to make your life miserable, they're just hoping at a chance at this unique pet you can't tame anywhere else, same as you. If you mess with them you're just asking to have your tame stolen.
Edit: finally got him after 1-hour server maintenance that turned out to be 28 minutes, works like a charm and thank you, thank you, thank you to all the awesome Hordies on Wyrmrest Accord, especially Ruffnut, Sobekhotep, and Muraani, without whom I'd probably still be banging my head against a wall. Sure there were a few sport kills and it got swiped by an Alliance realm-hopper (please, PLEASE don't do this, or if you see campers let them have it!) but for the most part I felt nothing but camaraderie. I'm beginning to understand why Blizzard did this. Maybe.
Anyway, a few nuts and bolts: NPCscan will not pick up either the egg or the raptor, even if you enter in his ID. Not surprising since it hasn't been updated for 7.2. Also, I've been told the mouseover macro works well. I'd copy it but I'm afraid it's vanished off my macro tab and I don't have the copy/paste.
Oh, and also, the stealth bug is in full effect on this guy. Even when I turn it off and resummon he auto-stealths.
I was surprised at how small the egg was: instead of looking for something large enough to actually hatch this massive thing, look for the solid-painted Noblegarden egg.
Good luck and happy hunting to all those after this most beautiful of spirit beasts!
Last edit, I promise!:
I'm pleased to announce I was able to pay back at least a part of my karmic debt today as I gave the Lost Spectral Gryphon tame to a blood elf. Knowing what a pain it is to camp in the enemy capital I battetag friended her and told her it was all hers if it popped . . . and a few minutes later there it was. Screenshot pending approval with my Gon and her gryphon. Congratulations Ashaelyn!
Tamed this yesterday (April 15) on Thrall US at 6:57pm server time. Had been camping on and off. It spawned in front of another hunter but they logged off just as it did. I was alone so I clicked the egg. It was a 1 sec cast where you "attack" the egg and he spawns. I got scared because it took him a second or two to actually spawn. I had read that it could potentially bug and not spawn so I thought it happened to me as well. Used a target and tame macro and once the tame was done casting he was still hitting me as if I hadn't finished taming it. He finally became my pet after two seconds. There were also a lot of issues for me the day before when I was camping it. I would get phased a lot which can mean it was on a different timer every time I would get phased :( Hope everyone has better luck!
When the servers went down last nite for no reason, I decided to wait the hours and hours it took for them to come back up for the offchance that the Eggshell was up when the servers came up. When they came up at 1:30am I was the first online and the Eggshell was there, I even flew to Stormwind and got there just as an alliance hunter was taming the Lost Spectral Gryphon.
TLDR: It seems both spectral items come up with the server restarts. Probably the best time to tame them :)
Tamed at 13:24 server time, Area 52.
I know everyone is just concentrating on taming Gon but I believe I found another bug related to him. Seems
does not work on this guy. Making Hati look like Gon does not shrink him either (it actually makes him bigger.) He's just as tall as a Devilsaur. I actually don't like it. I wish he was the size of a regular raptor.
Here are some screen shots of his size compared to a regular raptor:
In both pictures, Hati is set to look like Gon.
Macro to help
/run local f,x = CreateFrame("frame",nil, UIParent);f:SetScript("OnUpdate", function() if GameTooltipTextLeft1:GetText() == "Spectral Eggshell" then PlaySoundKitID(11466, "master", true); if not x then Screenshot(); x=true; end end end)
it will play the sound file "You are not prepared" when you mouseover the egg.
Tamed him on Tich around 5:30pm server time!
Tamed on Thrall at around 8:53PM. There was an Alliance Worgen that was playing dead nearby, so I waited to see if he was gonna go for the egg first...but he didn't, so I clicked and tamed. The spawns were less than an hour apart, because I watched a Gnome tame him around 7:58PM.
Good luck to all the others out there camping this beast...don't give up!
Tamed him Tuesday right after reset. 11:02 am Steamwheedle Cartel US server. For those of us Ally looking to tame, fly in from the river side down into valley of spirits, the pile of skulls is behind the PRIEST trainer not the warlock trainer as some had stated. Landed, feigned death to drop aggro, then shadowmeld. When I logged in the egg was in plain sight, and I didn't have any phasing issues as some had reported.
Also, I would have posted sooner but was stuck behind my Bitdefender and unable to log onto wowhead. :(
Tamed him this morning at 7:50am EST Stormrage US server. Thrall-US shares this server. As an alliance player this one is a little tricky.
Watched the eggshell spawn from a safe spot near the hut. Mounted up and flew inside the hut. Clicked the eggshell, tagged Gon with cobra shot, popped Aspect of the Turtle, and hit Tame Beast. The tame beast went off without a hitch with three horde guards and one horde player trying to attack through the turtle shield. Good luck!
Just tamed at 17:48 on Moonglade/Steamwheedle/Sha'tar EU. I started camping around 8 am server time, and continued until the egg spawned.. No troubles with the actual pet spawning, good luck to all out there!
Tamed at 15:35 on Quelthalas, no one was around :D
Just tame at 01:09 server time SteamwheedleCartel US. Good luck y'all!
I camped Gon for about 12 hours straight and I believe I phased multiple times. Does this mess up my chances to see the egg? :/
I just tamed Gon with my Ally Char on Darkmoonfair. Camped from 11:20 pm to 5:15 am. I stood the whole time with shadowmimik in place.
Because many of you said, that he can be bugged I had a plan ready. As the egg finally spawned, I made a Screenshot from it, while my in-game Calender was open. So I could later on prove to Blizzard, that I was indeed there. Then I threw my frost trap at the staris to trap that annoying guard.
As I right-clicked the Egg to destroy it, I screenshotted that too.
But I was Lucky, Gon spawned on top of the Skulls, just immediatelly, so I hit Turtle, tamed him and ported to Dalaran.
I noticed something that might be interesting. I tamed the Spiritbeast Gryphon on last Thursday at 5:14 am. Beforehand I witnessed a guildy tame her at around 7 or 8 pm. From then on I camped there till midnight, since I had to go to work the next day I went to bed then. My Husband rose me in the morning to tell me the feather was up (at nearly the same time as Gon today) - coincidence? Dunno, but I found it interesting anyways.
Also, I read in one of the early threats, that one of you asked, if you could tame Gon with a low lvl Hunter. Well I didn't test it with Gon, but in the WoWHead Threat for the Gryphon several PPL confirmed, that you are indeed able to tame the Gryphon with a below 110 Char. You only need a lvl 110 hunter to klick the Egg for you, and when the bird spawns, you can see and tame it, it downscales in his lvl.
So I assume Gon will do the same.
That means also ofc, that low lvl Hunters are a treat to 110 and can steal theire tame. So beware ;)
And thanks to the sole bloodelf hunter that visited me this night at my hiding spot, klicked on me, and logged of without harming me =)
And - if any of you Ally Players from Thursday read this - Thank you for stepping down for me as I asked of you, because I was allready sitting there for hours! Hunters are the best =)
Have a nice day!
These new spirit beasts are a troll's wet dream. I've tried to camp both, but with Gon its a nightmare.Horde are literally camping it not to tame him,but to kill any Alliance hunters trying to.I've been ganked by mages warlocks warriors so on and so forth.Whoever in Blizz's dev department came up with this idea needs their head examined. Also the screenshots of Gon while nice a screenshot of the actual eggshell would be more helpful.
After writing this and numerous trial and error; rez sickness;and repairs I was able to tame him.I had been ganked just before by a tauren druid and orc warrior(3 times in a row)! My suggestion to Alliance hunters is use the cliff above the spawn point and eagle eye to camp or you will have the same difficulty as me. I couldn't get a screen shot of the egg, but is spawns on the floor near the bowl with the gems and is about the same size as a Noblegarden egg. It's glows very brightly so you cant miss it.
The egg is hard to notice. It spawned on the ground near the pile, so multiple spawn points are apparent.
Sorry, no time for screenshot. An ally hunter tried to swoop down and steal it
Camped for a little over an hour. As an alliance character, this was rather hard to camp for due to guards and other players. I managed to find a safe spot behind the shack on the ground. During my time camping, i actually made a friend on the horde side. The egg spawned around 9 or 10 EST on Moongaurd. I never hear anything about Moonguard so, I decided to post. (special shout out to the horde character that helped me out)
P.S. If you are a horde character and you see an alliance hunter leave them alone. As long as they aren't causing trouble. they came for this blasted raptor and its way harder for an alliance to tame it due to the spawn point.
Just tamed on Thrall-US at 2pm central time. In case anyone is keeping a log. :) Good luck fellow Hunters!
I camped for 7 hours and 24 minutes. No breaks. No AFK. No bathroom breaks. I was visited by 14 polite Horde stopping by to check for the egg. Most wished me luck before leaving. I was harassed by some ass mounting and dismounting over the spawn spot for about 45 minutes. Five alliance stopped by as well. No egg. No pet. No challenge. Another poorly designed event by Blizzard.
Alliance Hunter, can confirm Egg Can be spotted while dead. Died due to horde campers. Campers got bored, I chilled while dead until Senshi's script kicked in. Got damn lucky spending less than half an hour waiting for this. Senshi's Script also works while dead
/run local f,x = CreateFrame("frame",nil, UIParent);f:SetScript("OnUpdate", function() if GameTooltipTextLeft1:GetText() == "Spectral Eggshell" then PlaySoundKitID(11466, "master", true); if not x then Screenshot(); x=true; end end end)
First of all: Awsome looking pet :-) After taming the Spectral Gryphon I flew in just to see where the egg is supposed to spawn. Being Alliance, I thought that this is an impossible tame (right there in the heart of Ogrimar). The egg was lying there!, so I took the chance and landed close to the wall tying not to catch any attention. BUT the guards were too close and came at me, I also found out that the egg is out of reach if you stand between the fence and the wall, so I died!
As an Alliance my spirit is pretty far away from Ogrimar, so I didn't think the egg would be there when I got back, but much to my surprise it was :) I 'got back to life' used Exhilaration to gain some health, mounted to fly into the small 'cage' where the egg is...messy job on a Spawn of Galakras (pick a gryphon please). I hit the egg and Gon spawned. At that moment I was under attack, but not by players, so I managed to stay alive during the tame AND GOT IT :O)
Going fot that tame as Alliance I strongly suggest night/early morning...it will only take a guard and one angry horde to mess it up for you, besides that spawnpoint is getting more and more camped as hunters find out about those new pets. Glad I got mine before too many begin camping.
GL to all hunters out there
CRZ sharding in capitol cities is absolutely part of the problem in the long tames here. It is a problem with a lot of content currently in the game. Stuff phasing in and out as you try to interact with it. I am assuming the 'bug fix' they noted for this was to create some sort of a spot here where it isn't phasing at the spawn point. Having already camped unsuccessfully for 6.5 hours I am just going to keep checking in and hope for the best. I have the damn texture of that mat branded into my retinas at this point.
Horde player, 1425 server time on EU-Eonar , just wandered past on spec, snagged him.
a few minutes ago on Magtheridon - EU (3:15 PM server time).
When I came over to the location with (active)
, there already was a Hunter of level 106, but he could not see and therefore interact with it.
Gon himself showed to him as level 106 when I spawned the Spirit Beast, but he could not start the tame regardless.
EDIT: Today I saw a level 13 with the pet. So level 110
required to summon the raptor, but anyone can tame it after. Perhaps mine got "tagged" by a trinket or something.
Tamed in Malganis at 11:55 am Server time
Ok, I don't play Horde, but here's what I'm thinking. Alliance gets this awesome spectral gryphon spirit beast. Horde get... a raptor. It looks cool and all, but the raptor just doesn't seem right. Why not a spectral wyvern?
And to those downvoting, I'm not saying the raptor is bad, I just think the wyvern/wind rider would be more fitting, the Horde have them everywhere.
Also, I would like to say that a spectral wyvern/wind rider DOES in fact exist in game, it is ridden by
if you have flying unlocked. I think it looks awesome and I would love to have that on my horde, maybe even my alliance if I could get there without getting ganked :P
Camping for hours. Then another horde hunter came and mount up. So was impossible to click. 15 minutes later he tamed it. Hope he is happy.
Tamed 9:20 AM CST, Kirin Tor.
Exhilaration is your friend when you're being mobbed by six guards and one more atop a wyvern. :)
Died shortly afterwards but totes the most 'worth it' death to NPCs ever. Such a lovely raptor!
Good luck to anyone else trying to snag him.
Silver Hand Server
Tamed him at 7:05 p.m. server time. I camped about 4 hours, but I have no idea when he spawned prior to that, so I can't verify spawn timer. As an Alliance Night Elf, I stayed in shadowmeld form behind the hut against the wall and no one detected me. A few horde players came and went but didn't bother me, but I have no way of knowing if it was because they couldn't see me while in shadowmeld, or they were kind enough not to pounce on me. :p
Once I saw the tiny little "spectral eggshell" right at the base of the pile of skulls (pretty much the same color as the flames), I walked up to the edge of the hut and was able to click the egg while outside the hut. Once I did that, a horde npc came at me, but I just went ahead and tamed as I was being clobbered. Once the dino was mine, we eliminated that npc and I flew out. I didn't aggro anything else, so I guess the timing was right.
The most difficult part for me was getting there. Flying in, I aggro'd a few npc's but my pet and I took care of them. I then dismissed my pet, and began the wait....
Good luck hunters!
ive been camping the spot from 7 am and it is now 3 pm and nothing yet.
Gon respawn timers:
Today, Wed 3rd May, Stormrage Server.
Gon spawned 3 times within 2 hours.
12:45pm I tried to tame but got killed by horde.
1:55pm Alliance dwarf hunter tamed him.
2:25pm I tamed him.
Not sure if it's like this every day or if it's a glitch!
Just tamed... egg spawned at base of stack logged on before bed around 1.30 am server time egg was there and nobody else camped so clicked and tamed ...lovely looking beast hardest part was thinking of a name...good luck to everybody else :-)
I just found the spot where Gon appears and found him dead on the floor :*( Thxx a lot to who ever killed him.
Note to Alliance: A friend (tank) came with me to camp the shell, but when we arrived it was there. We are alliance so he went in first to grab the guards etc. and I went for the shell. I clicked the shell, Gon appeared, but my friend pulled threat and I was unable to tame despite me being the one who clicked the shell. The tank ran away so Gon would deaggro and run back to spawn point; I was still unable to tame and he despawned. Something to keep in mind! Good luck with your tames!
Hi. I just tamed Gon at 8:08 am on Feathermoon and I'm an Alliance Drae. I flew in from the back side and stood in back of the hut next to his because there is a guard that attacks if you get to close. I used Eagle Eye to keep an eye on the egg (pun intended, hehe) and I used realm hop. It finally spawned and luckily for us hunters, the Horde guards are trappable. I clicked on the egg, he appeared and I tamed him without a problem. I came in last night and waited for an hour but the egg didn't appear. I was really surprised that the guard was the only thing that attacked me. I expected Horde to be around the spawn site or at least Horde traveling back and forth but nothing. That made it a lot easier and helped my nerves, hehe. Good luck my fellow Hunters :)
I went to check this out, and a horde hunter waved at me, and I waved back. I did end up landing, trying to be sure I knew where the egg would be. I ended up having to kill a guard. The hunter did not come over, but a monk did and he killed me. I am going to wait a while, see once things cool down, and maybe then bring a friend to distract while I check to see if the egg is there. It's a lot harder to get to the egg than it is to get to the feather. I was camping the feather in SW and a horde hunter flew right up to the mountainside a few yards away (i.e. not in stormwind) and we waved. You can literally get to spitting distance if you're horde without active guard interference. Not so in Orgrimmar. I think it makes the dino more challenging.
I just used the "after reset" tactic and it worked for me. Logged in 1-2 min after realms went back up right in front of the pile of skulls. The eggshell was there! Happily tamed Gon and flew to SW to see how lucky I can get in one day. Surprisingly enough the feather was there too. I play on a very highly horde populated ream so probably that's why no one is SW was camping for the feather.
If you are a horde trying to tame the lost spectral gryphon just fly over the lake and check the spot. The only NPC that tried to bother me was the Dwarf vendor, no guard showed up as I didn't attack anything. Use the feather, tame the beauty and jump off the platform to the lake, FD and fly away! :D GL my fellow pet stalkers.
If you ever feel like giving back to the hunter community, and your Gon camp site isn't as busy as it used to be, do some lower level hunters a favor and ask them if they need/want the pet when the eggshell is up. They can't see the eggshell, but they can tame Gon. I just did it for 3 people under level 100 and it felt good ^_^
Catch mine today, Kazzak - eu , in 11:00 am :)
I just tamed him about 6:12pm PDT on Korialstrasz server. The egg shell is on the ground and very hard to see.
Just tamed on CoA at 7.49pm GMT
waited 6 and half hours for spawn but unsure when it was tamed before I got it.
I personally didn't think the shell was hard to find, kinda stuck out as a decent sized blue glowy object at the bottom of the skull pile.
No screenshot as people kept turning up during the wait so didn't want to hang around in case I lost the tame.
Feel sorry for the alliance hunters trying to get this. witnessed a fair few deaths over the last couple days, and i heard the gryphon is a lot easier for horde to get hold of
Contrary to what other people think, it is next to Zuru, the Priest trainer (at least it was for me). The location is 35.81 68.80 . Look in the Valley of Spirits, under the portal trainer (also a Mage, Warlock, and Inscription trainer in the same building). The blue flaming pile of skulls (the picture looks right) is the giveaway. It's on the bottom floor of the only 2 floor building I see in here along the main strip in the Valley of Spirits.
Alliance - tamed him today on Aerie Peak.
A few tips...
You cannot reach the egg to click it from the back behind the fence. You can from the side, but see next tip.
You have to be on the platform to tame him or you get line of sight error - the trainer did not aggro - i guess he was too low level.
When I clicked the egg, a 110 horde grunt ran up and attacked - I just trapped him in case he interrupted tame.
Other than that, plain sailing. good luck, a cool pet, if a little big!
At 5:53pm Gurubashi server time I went to have a first look at the location and see if it was even possible to camp as a horde. I guess I got lucky because as soon as I flew up the feather was there with no ally around. Got myself the gryphon without even camping. I then proceeded to taunt all the ally hunters who had just missed their chance, /lol whilst I died. Definitely a fun tame. Now on to the raptor in Org and I will once again have all the sweet hunter pets :D I think if you are looking to camp it as horde you're going to have to just hover with your mount near the location of the nest, i don't think I would go afk since there are a lot of spots ally can snipe you from. The feather was bright enough to see before I even got to the platform, so it's easily spotted. Good luck :)
Edit: I just flew to Orgrimmar after taming the gryphon, and low and behold the spectral egg was sitting right in front of me at 6:11pm Gurubashi with not a soul in sight. 2 Spirit pets in less than 30 Minutes, I think is a record. I should buy a lottery ticket.
Hey guys. My name in WoW is Teddturner. Im a beast mastery hunter and I tamed this on Blackhand at around midnight. It is easy. I'm also alliance so if your alliance don't give up hope. I wish you all good luck in taming this awesome spirit beast.
I was waiting for the egg the spawn this morning as an alliance. As a night elf, I used shadowmeld to get the guards to leave me alone. While I was camping, an extremely kind horde hunter helped me out instead of killing me. She told me she allready had Gon and told me how she managed to get the spectral gryphon in Stormwind. We added eachother as battletag friends and kept on talking while she went to her garrison. When she came back she wrote to me 'EGG EGG EGG' but i was phased and couldnt see her or the egg! So i logged out and back in and there it was. Without her I would have probably waited a very long time or just got killed before getting the pet!
Thankyou for your kindness Mytz! Would do anything to return the favor!
Just tamed mine 11 am on emeralddream... alot of shadowmeld some feign dead and patience galore. ally trophy for sure hehe
Tamed at 5:10am AEST on Caelestrasz, .6/6/17. Made hati look like gon and with the spirit gryphon, my set is complete :)
Tamed on Outland EU at 9:50am server time. I'm Alliance, so for any Alliance hunter attempting to get this pet keep the following in mind: Before I went in I did some recon using Eagle Eye first from the mountain peak at 39.6 , 8.0, but I couldn't see any npc's of any description from there because I wasnt inside the borders of Orgrimmar. That had me placed in Durotar. So I moved NNW to the next peak at 30.6 , 79.6 and that put me inside the Valley Of Spirits, but still high enough away from the flying patrols. I was then able to see all npc's and that the spirit egg was up. So make sure that you're inside Orgrimmar if or when you do recon. I then flew down and dismounted in the space between the back of the hut and the cliff face. You'll be out of reach of the egg if you try to click from behind the barrier / handrail at the back. So I jumped that, clicked and tamed immediately. You will aggro the nearby grunt but don't worry, he can't interrupt your tame. I was really lucky not to run into any Horde players. I went in early in the day and I guess Orgrimmar was quiet, I only had to deal with the guards on the way out. But it was all worth it, it's a fantastic pet. Best of luck with your tame (:
For alliance it might be worth standing on the cliffs opposite the hut and using eagle eye to watch for the egg to spawn, I flew down saw it was there, waited while my boyfriend flew over and kept watching it with eagle eye so it works :)
Kazzak, saw egg, destroyd it and now i got a darn it buty pet
Just got this on bronzedragonflight-eu at 5:20pm server time. 12/07/17 just a heads up for people wanting to camp it.
I just tamed him on Area 52 US at 12:10pm EST
Tamed: Magtheridon-EU at 21:19
Camping it since 12:40. What a long run.
Realm: Argent Dawn EU
Started camping at 7:36 AM.
As I had a day off I decided I'd go for a non-stop camp and had my husband on the lookout whenever I needed a bio.
I just tamed Gon at 18:21 PM which means I've sat there for near 11 hours! Well worth it! Now onward to that Spectral Gryphon ;)
Tamed this morning (8/20/2017) as a Alliance at 4:48AM on the Anvilmar server., WOOT.
My plan was to go to the spot at 3am server time and use my Night Elf Shadowmeld ability to camp in the spot behind the hut. I got up late and did not get there until about 4:45am. I got very lucky because when I got there the egg was already spawned. I clicked the egg and started to tame. This did agro a guard but I was able to complete the tame before he hit me too hard. One Horde player saw me but he either let me tame or was a lower level and could do nothing about it. I didn't stick around to find out.
Very cool pet. Now I have this one and the spirit Gryphon to match.
I'm coming up on 12 hours(11:28hrs when writing this) still no sign, pretty much sat my character here and logged in straight after the servers came up
Just got him 13:20 realm time on Ghostlands
Unlike the older spirit beasts, this one,
the lost spectral gryphon
will all be up when the servers come online after a reset/maintenance, so if you're still looking for them, park your character in the area and check asap. This is how I got all of mine.
Good luck and happy hunting
Got it this morning at 10:50 on Bronze dragonflight.
For Alliance hunters, this tame can be either simple or difficult depending on how Horde-heavy your server is. Fortunately, the Valley of Spirits doesn't get a whole lot of traffic from my experience when I played Horde on a variety of realms (low-pop and high-pop).
I fully recommend that you attempt this tame during the first couple of nights after maintenance: when folks are busy raiding or off doing whatever the weekly is. I went at 10pm CST, when most of the guilds on my server are typically raiding. I perched high up on one of the large mountain borders -- a spot well enough away from being within the city, while also providing line-of-sight to the valley below. I used my Eagle Eye to scout the ground for the right building, looking for the pile of skulls with the blue flames (and mistaking the pile for the spawn item). Once I found the skull pile, I flew down behind the hut. You WILL aggro at least one guard. This is fine. Put down a freezing trap to get it out of your hair. If the egg is up, you will be able to click on it from behind the hut, but you have to be right against it to be in range. I didn't aggro any additional NPCs, but your experience might vary a bit. (Fellow night elves, you can shadow meld indefinitely and likely expect no one to notice you there, including guards, should you feel like camping out for the egg to spawn.)
From behind the hut, click on whatever part of the egg you can find to spawn Gon. If you try to tame him from there, it will start the tame, but I must have lost line-of-sight as he ran around to start attacking me. No big deal, just started the tame again. If Horde players are privy to your presence and decide to attack you, use Aspect of the Turtle and start the tame again. Might not hurt to tag Gon with a Cobra Shot to get his attention the first time. After taming your new and exceptionally large raptor friend, just use your Dalaran hearthstone to get back to safety. :D (and be ready to get a spook the next time you look at your hunter on the character select screen; he is a
Happy hunting! :D
He should really be Yellow in colour...
Tamed him tonight at 10.13pm on Nagrand :)
A Note that may be helpful: If the hunter who clicks on the eggshell logs out Gon immediately despawns as does the eggshell. I found this out the hard way by summoning it on my 110 BM hunter for my 100 Hunter to tame. No one else was in the area, as I am on a mostly dead server and this all took place over maybe 35sec.
Went to Orgrimmar on my horde hunter and the egg was there so logged out and in on my ally hunter. Traveled to Orgrimmar, got into place and as soon as the sky was clear down I went. Clicked on the egg and an npc came over and attacked me. Tamed Gon while being hit by npc and Gon killed him. I was able to mount and back to Dal I went. Nice hunter pet.
Unfortunately, Gon will despawn after a while. I managed to summon him with the eggshell but was killed by guards who seem to have an impossibly long aggro range. By the time I made it back to my corpse (roughly 2 minutes), Gon had disappeared.
I have been waiting for my friend to have enough money to get time so i could spawn him in so that he could tame him, friend finally got time, went to check if the egg was there on my 110 hunter, it was so i had his 77 hunter fly over there to tame him. spawned the beast and another 110 hunter started to tame the bastard. so if you see someone sitting in front of these spawns but hasn't activated them to tame, most likely they are waiting for someone who is a lower level to come tame them so don't be an #$%^&*! and wait for them to spawn the beasts and start taming. if you do, $%^& you.
for alliance fly very high overhead so you can gauge the NPCs pattern. swoop down and ignore the guards and spawn the egg. you can tame while being hit. tricky for alliance but doable for sure
The egg is right behind
at those coordinates. There is a pile of skulls with blue flame. The egg is at the base. You destroy the egg and Gon appears on top of the skulls. Just tamed him at 8:48am on US-Uther.
I was lucky enough to tame Gon twice today 8/24/18. The first time was @11:30am & again @5:01pm Server time on Cairne. Good Luck and Happy Hunting! I can confirm a post that i had read that the spawn timer can be anywhere between 15mins and 14hrs. I got 2 in a little over 5hrs.. Its worth camping if you have the patience.. again Good Luck and Happy hunting!
I have 2 hunters that I switch between. 1 Alliance and 1 Horde. I managed to tame Gon on both of them in the same week. Feels pretty good.
Mostly the WOW community is great. But today as an Alliance hunter camping the egg for as of this moment a bit over 3 hours. A horde player Cheeseburger on Thunderhorne just went out of his way to be a complete !@#$, (for the second time) deliberately breaking my stealth and getting me killed. As a community, hunters are better than that. And if they can't be maybe blizzard needs to move the rares out of the cities. I've helped horde get the Griffin - so to be purposefully griefed just pisses me off.
A friend and I tried the 'ole 110+ hunter summon and low level tame (my alt is only like level 35) but it appears the ability to tame exotic beasts is a level 60+ skill again instead of learned passive of BM.
For some reason, Gon has a much higher DPS (around 200 - 300 more) than all of the new BFA pets, including the elite ones. For that reason I’d recommend him for when you are fighting a bunch of weak mobs and want to progress quickly. However, when fighting more powerful mobs or bosses I’d recommend Bulvinkel, as he still has at least 100 - 200 more DPS than the BFA pets, and has way more health, keeping him from dying too easily, thus keeping you from dying too easily.
Tamed Gon today with my Alliance BM Hunter. Malfurion-US
Got Gon today 06.55 on Emerald dream server. It was nice to go there and not see loads of hunters waiting.
Great looking model
Just tamed at 6:20pm EST on Stormrage! Was super weird, only had to wait about thirty minutes, then the egg spawned and almost immediately despawned, then all of a sudden a goblin hunter appeared, was there for about a minute, then disappeared, THEN THE EGG REAPPEARED! Got Gon! SUPER FRIGGIN' LUCKY!
I was not able to tame gon on my 110 hunter. It kept resisting. You must be max level.
If you just want the waypoint, here you go:
/way orgrimmar:orgrimmar 36.42 68.89
is anywhere from 30 minutes to 12 hours for the spectral eggshell that you have to click to spawn Gon.
I realize that there's a lot of waiting for this egg to appear. But before spending hours in doing so, does this thing even spawn any more? Saw a lot of comments regarding the need to be level 110, so that's why I ask now that we're in BfA and I'm well past that point.
Lucky enough to happen upon the egg the very first time I checked. Quite happy!
Just got this pet. I have been wondering where peeps have been getting it. Looked it up and went to the spot... Bam there was the egg..
The guard nearby is now ? level, immediately hit me, killed hell outta me and my pet. It's a long run back from the Razor Hill grave yard; hopefully I can find a more distant spot to rez. And get that freeze trap ready for the next ? guard :-) Yes, Eagle Eye was very handy to spot the pile of skulls beneath the thatched roof (big) and the blue egg (little). First rez attempt failed: froze the damned level 60 NPC under the hut instead of the ? guard, trying again. Still failing: guard responds too quickly, hits too hard. Froze him the last time, hatched Gon's egg, but guard unfroze and killed me before I could tame. This is getting very very tiresome.
Did Gon today 6-2-19, Solo Hunter 120 398I lvl
Flew overhead to scout out egg
located the blue flame and from the ledge opposite the blue flame hut I moved the mouse to a small bluish orb (Becarful to avoid the 120 flying pvp mobs). The pointer changed to the USE sprocket so I knew it was the spawned egg.
Flew down in a trial run and stayed mounted to see who would aggro me at the egg.
A 120 guard to the left...or NW aggroed, flew back up to cancel aggro.
Took a deep breath flew back down, clicked the egg...dismissed my pet again(because blizzard has still not fixed the pets respawning sometimes after being dismissed)
Hit Aspect of Turtle, tamed (WOOHOO!)
then ran to the water opposite the hut so I could fight the two aggroed pvp mobs without any interference....Done.
Hope this helps, Egg was there when I showed up so no info on spawn time but it was early morning Sunday USA EST
Here is good tactic to get Gon. I did this. So Fly in to hut where gon is. Die and aspect turtle when you get back and revive and boom. Yours.
Does anyone know if it's possible to tame Gon a second time, in order to have two? I've been back several times but no egg. That said, I haven't stuck around waiting long either.
He's called Gon because, everytime I log out and then back in again, he's Gone, he always needs Call Pet, none of my other spirit beasts do this disappearing trick.
I guess people aren't looking for this one nor the Spectral Gryphon anymore. One night, about 10 minutes apart, I had the egg and the feather. I won't complain I like that duo. Hunters that have both have true feeling for the unification Thrall and Jaina always wanted. Bless you guys.
Hey! If you are like me, trying to get this pet as a new hunter, I can confirm that no characters below level 90 can see it. I also highly recommend switching between wm on and off. Didn´t see it in wm off mode, toggled on wm on mode as a double-check and BAM there was the egg :D Good luck hunting!
For any alliance peeps looking to tame this beast. You can sit at coordinates 56.98 42.68 and cast eagle eye on the location. This will allow you to check the position without being flagged for PVP.
Went there, finally found the item, summoned, only to find out i had "too many pets" and before i could abandon one, it was gone. gg
You can NOT see the egg if ur in mm or survival spec.
Just tamed it twice and realised this swapping specs
Tamed at 7:55 pm CET (GMT+1) today, thanks to a friend who could see the egg while I couldn't.
PS: Assuming to him, now the minimum level to see the egg would be around 45.
Got this guy Twice today on the same sever. So glad they made our stables bigger. I had been to the spawn point 100 times and the egg was there and I never clicked the right spot. happy day!
I tamed Gon for the second time today, Feb 5 2021 as Alliance lvl 54 hunter. It took almost two hours for the egg to spawn so I started to worry that maybe it was only visible to max level toons (which I understand was the case when Gon first went live). Turns out you can see the egg without being max level.
cant u get it as lvl 20 twink hunter?
The level limit to see Gon's egg must be between 40 and 45 as a Beastmaster.
I was waiting for it as a 40. Could not see it. Logged in as my 45 and I could see it. Back to 40 and it was gone again.
Once up you need "Exotic Beasts" at level 39 to tame it.
To get this on a lower level Beastmaster (39+): Have them both at the location. All pets dismissed. Bring on the higher level ALT (45+)and click the egg. As soon at the egg is gone, Gon appears. Log off quickly and bring up the lower ALT. Simply have the lower ALT tame Gon.
It is also possible to get this pet for Alliance. You just have to work around all of the PvP flagging, guards attacking, player ganking, etc. Fly in, Feign Death, watch for egg, continue to feign death or log. Egg appears, click it, tame it, get out.
Does my hunter have to be at 50 or 60 for it to spawn?
Arrived in org at 8am AEST 8/2 on Hunter.
Parked outside location.
Swapped to Paladin to see if egg spawned and it did.
Quickly jumped back on hunter, and missed out by 4 seconds due to another hunter taming it. However said hunter applogised for taming it.
sat and waited 2 hours for the egg to appear again. Said hunter who tamed it off me, waited with me cause he felt bad.
It was nice knowing that some hunters can care about their fellow class mates about a pet :)
Tamed Lothar server; March 19, 2022 @ 1:25 a.m. EDT (5:25a.m. UTC).
Since the level max is 60, I tested everytime I leveled up to check if the egg is there (from level 50). I found it at level 52. If you want to tame him, you can start checking at level 52, or ask a level 52+ friend to break the egg for you.
Did they change the spawn rate of the egg or did I just get incredibly lucky? I didnt have to wait a minute... the egg was just there when I checked the spot for the first time.
