Defeated it easily with three of my Falcosaur pets.
Cookies Leftovers is the final fight of the 7.2.5 Deadmines pet battle dungeon. This magic pet is quite tough with strong magic attacks, which simply asks for a:
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling
(1 2 2)
(2 2 2)
Then Thunderbolt and Decoy on cooldown and otherwise use Breath
Usually the Dragonling manages on its own, but if you need your Teroclaw, Dodge + Alpha Strike takes care of that.
For all the other fights, here's Xu-Fu's full
Deadmines challenge mode guide
Enjoy and good luck in the dungeon!
At first I thought I'd use pets strong against magical creatures. Then I realized the Sleep attack was the same class as Stun, and therefore that attack doesn't work on Critters, or during Arcane Winds. Easy, as long as your pets can take a hit.
I used a
(2,1,1) always keeping arcane winds active.
Killed it in 6 rounds.
Vale Flitter (Call Lightning)
Unborn Val'kyr (Haunt)
Zandalari Anklerender (P/S)(Hunting Party, Black Claw)
Round 1: Call Lightning. Vale Flitter gets put to sleep.
Round 2: Switch to Val'kyr.
Round 3: Haunt. Switch to Anklerender.
Round 4: Black Claw.
Round 5+6: Hunting Party.
Start out with whatever your 3rd/backup pet and will get slept for 2 rounds. Next switch to
(1,2,1) - it should still be above 50% HP even if you've used it in two previous fights.
and swap to a pet with Black Claw and a Flock-type ability (such as
(2,1,2).) Even though your pet will get slept, Curse of Doom/Haunt will finish off the boss!
This is the last boss (stage 7) of the deadmines pet battle dungeon.
Soloed x2 times today that it got released with
Edit: this is the strategy
repeat the last four and win
will take forever but it is 100% 1 pet
edit: today, 20/7/17 i got the last pet from this dungeon. So this strat has been tested and worked 6/6 times.
Can solo with any Rabbit. Food Coma is always used when available and has no effect due to Critter passive. This is always followed by Feed and can be avoided using Dodge (or Burrow). Damage with Scratch, Flurry or Burrow. Rinse and repeat.
can do it solo with 1,2,1. Use Thunderbolt whenever available, spam Breath and when resurrected and got one hit - Explode. Explode will deal 560 dmg (it based on Max health). Simply skip turn when sleep'ed.
2-man Pet Team Easy Mode
first pet 1,2,2
2nd pet rare P/P 2, 1, 1
I used an infinite whelpling as back up but not necessary
:use breath until health gets low but not enough to one shot then use life exchange
Next cast Celestial blessing, damage until yula dies
: cast Toxic skin and cast sleeping dust until you need a heal, if you get put to sleep don't swap, skin will do dmg
Just Haunt Bomb him.
I'm going out on a limb by making this claim but here it goes anyhow! Currently, it's quite possible that
choice - for those who base best choices upon efficiency and effectiveness - is as follows:
Foe Reaper 50
, use an
Crimson Shale Hatchling
. Use Stone Rush and Burn, in that order, on repeat. Welcome to Sixth-round Victory-town!
is a far better choice than any rabbit could be due to it being far stronger. Not to mention that a Family Reunion followed by a Dumpster Dive is entirely a knock-out combination here -- if need be, quick clean up of any remaining trash can be accomplished with a
and it's tried & true Arcane Storm to Mana Surge. Against
, a rotation with
Tiny Red Carp
of Whirlpool, Cleansing Rain, Pass, Water Jet, Water Jet, Water Jet will quickly lay waste here -- clean up with
Arcane Storm to Mana Surge or have a
Fledgling Warden Owl
(the key is a higher-strength Battle Pet with the Savage Talon ability) in your line up so that you can switch them in and more quickly deal with Aquatic trash in case that's what spawns for your encounter.
, the ridiculous
. It's best to
, Explode and
, Explode. Done. Clean up with, you guessed it,
Arcane Storm to Mana Surge (or your favorite go-to choice.)
, I agree with the strategy that other's have posted here regarding
. Pass, Curse, Haunt, then
, Black Claw to Hunting Party for the win.
Klutz's Battle Rat
has been well acknowledged and the
Black Claw to Hunting Party will promptly suffice however, I suggest cleaning up with
Arcane Storm to Mana Surge.
Klutz's Battle Monkey
is another easy target for Explode. Considering that Explode is based upon the maximum health of the Battle Pet which casts it, a couple possible higher-health options at this point could be
. As always, clean up is made easy with a
and Arcane Storm to Mana Surge. I wonder how
Klutz's Battle Bird
will be won - no, just kidding, I don't - it's gonna be with the
, you silly! Only this time there should be time enough to incorporate some Tail Sweeps between the Arcane Storm to Mana Surge cooldowns.
(If you only had one of these Nexus Whelplings in your current Battle Pet collection but have any inclination to battle pets via Battle Pet Pet Battles, I highly recommend getting at least a second of these Nexus Whelplings. If you had two or three upon entering Pet Battle Challenge: Deadmines, despite how much it seemed like they've been used up to this point, they should have plenty of health left even if your Nexus Whelpling inventory was poorly rotated throughout the clean-up roles in previous fights.)
in or around ten rounds by using
(Pass, Scorched Earth, Flame Breath, Conflagrate, then Flame Breath) and
Spawn of Onyxia
(Pass, Scorched Earth, Tail Sweep, then Tail Sweep) may be comparable to the more straightforward
Mechanical Pandaren Hatchling
method, use discretion.
As I remember a time when I had but a few Battle Pets and would look on Internet for strategies to consider for various Battle Pet Pet Battles, it was my aim here to offer some more Battle Pet options for people to choose from for running this quest! My other goal was to lend some of my expertise in getting redundant tasks done hastily to the people which are more interested in that aspect than they are in how to get through an encounter by soloing it regardless of how many rounds or how long that method may entail.
Emerald Proto-whelp (1, 2, 2) can solo this thing. Keep Emerald Presence up and pop Emerald Dream the turn before he puts you to sleep. You'll be asleep anyway, and it doesn't interrupt your heal. It's not fast but it seems pretty fool-proof.
I tried a variety of combinations, but ultimately found success with the
. There was nothing special about those pets and other dragonkin pets would likely be just fine. You basically just keep Darkness up and spam Tail Sweep until it dies.
Got RNGed with the strat I'd been using previously and so threw a bunch of dragons at it. Main requirements are some sort of avoidance move (
, usually) and dragon damage; it just so happens that this is almost exclusively dragons. Dodge
(super/fast candidates can cast the round it's available as can
, all others need to cast it the round before), hit the biggest damage button you've got otherwise, stuns/whatnots to taste if they're available.
(112), BC CE pet, Phase-Shift lets it dodge *both*
so it's a great starter if you have it
Limited edition candidates
Any Pet (You don't need it)
If you use the
, here is the rematch code for all the teams with battle notes that I compiled from
Xu-Fu's Pet Battle Strategies
. Thank you very much!
If you don't use Rematch, you should, it makes running this (and other pet battles) so much easier. And Xu-Fu's is full of great strategies.
To use this code, select all the text below, hit Ctrl+C to copy, then create a new tab in your pet journal by clicking on the + sign to the right of the pet journal (Call it whatever you want but I call it "Dead Mines"), and then right click the tab and select the "Import Teams" option. You can then hit Ctrl+V to paste the code in there.
From then on, whenever you select one of the battle pets in the instance a little Rematch window will come-up asking if you want to load the team for that fight, load it and also be sure to click on the little note button so you can see the notes on what to do for each turn. If you start the fight and forgot to open the notes, don't worry, you can open them again by opening your pet journal and clicking on the note icon.

I just used 3 critters as they can't be stunned.
(You obviously need critters that are fast enough to go first for this technique to work. The only one that doesn't matter is the cockroach.)
Started off with Cockroach and cast Apocalypse
Swapped out for Brown Marmot
Just kept on hitting Cookies Leftovers until he tried to stun.
The next move Burrow so he can't heal off you and repeat.
If he died I went to the grassland hopper and did the same technique (with cocoon strike to avoid his heal) and then popped natures touch when I could.
Just before the end of Apocalypse call back in the cockroach, by this point he only had about 500 health left and I just used the Grassland Hopper to finish him off
using the same technique of blocking his heal move after the attempted sleep/stun move.
messed this guy up with a eldritch mana fiend, unborn valkry and direbeak hatchling. open with arcane storm then switch to valk doom then haunt the switch the direbeak and falcsaur swarm until low hp and execute with predatory strike
(1627 health), and
(1587 health). Yeah, I know, they're crappy pets but they were the best anti-magic pets I had on hand. Not one of them died and I just swapped them out after each stun received. Took a little time but I got the job done.
It took me forever to get a good combo for this. I ended up using Burrow Spiderling, Adder, and Ash Viper. Started with burrow and then followed with an attack and kept rotating like that whenever the burrow ability became available.
I did it in a much less glorious way, but got it done. Spawn of Onyxia, deep breath, heal, tail whip, if you can manage another deep breath go for it, then crimson dragon hatchling, same set up, but if it’s faster than the boss, switch out the tail for breath. Fel flame rounded it out.
until pet is dead
on start then
rinse and repeat
Soloed with Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling
Just Decoy and Breath.
I tried a lot of the suggestions, and got close a few times but nothing worked... Until I tried B'aal (murder the innocent and his dragonkin moves), and Iron Starlette after B'aal died (powerball repeatedly). I beat this guy without even losing my 2nd pet, after losing repeatedly!
