Cataclysm Beta (Build 12759) Over 200 New Icons!
The latest Cataclysm Beta patch included
tons
of new icons! We've got some new items for Archaeology, including the main skill icon, and ones for artifact fragments and other related items. We've also uncovered ton of new icons for different types of armor; which, judging from detail, will most likely to be used for quest rewards and dungeon gear. Personally, I can't wait to see new, highly detailed tier armor and endgame item icons!
There's also few new weapon icons and a
ton
of new miscellaneous item icons, including new Darkmoon Cards, a ton of strange reagents, and the most adorable lil' brown bear cub ever. D'awwww. And speaking of cute companions - Lil' Deathwing has an icon now! HE'S SO CUTE ITS EVIL. Don't forget to check out the latest items, NPCs and other recent finds by browsing the

Cataclysm Beta (Build 12759) Updated Continent Loading Screens!
The latest Cataclysm build also included freshly updated loading screens featuring amazing new art for each of the major continents. We've uploaded them here in both original and widescreen variations! Which one is your favorite? Also, which other old-world loading screens still deserve some love?

Cataclysm Beta (Build 12759) Guild Vendor, Achievements Added!
The latest Cataclysm Beta update marks the return of guild features, with some awesome new additions! Guild vendors have been added to the game, located near the Guild Master / Tabard Vendors in the major cities, who sell items which will (eventually) have guild reputation requirements. New items include a ground mount, flying mount, new heirlooms and more! Sadly, most of the items have not been fully implemented and do not actually function at this time.
Blizzard has also added few more guild achievements - keep checking the blog for more information as we can add it! Check out screenshots of the newly added goodies after the break!

I Survived the Goblin Starting Zone and All I Got Was This Stupid BFF Report
All I have to say is, the Goblin starting experience was clearly directed by Michael Bay.

Cataclysm Beta: How to Log In Again
If you woke up this morning and
still
weren't able to log into the Cataclysm Beta, you weren't alone. As it turns out, Blizzard tweaked their login server but the tweak didn't exactly take effect. You'll need to tweak your install slightly before you can log in again:
Hi guys,
We've made some changes to the login server, however these changes didn't quite stick. You will not be able to login without doing the following:
Before you start, please make sure the WoW beta client is not open.
1. Navigate to the following folder in your beta install.
~\Data\enUS**
2. Open up your realmlist.wtf file with a text editing document.
3. Change the "set portal public-beta" line to "set portal public-test"
4. Save this change.
At this point you should be able to login normally.
**This folder will differ depending on which language you installed WoW Beta with. For example if you have a German install, the folder will be deDE.

Throne of the Tides Impressions
About couple of weeks ago I posted
blog
about how one of the new Cataclysm dungeons, Blackrock Caverns, felt. If you are interested in it, go ahead and take a look - I found it a pretty cool instance. Not as cool as the one I am about to present to you here and now though. You can read my shorter description

The Throne of the Tides is an 82-84 dungeon, supposedly the second one in the Abyssal Maw - the first one still unnamed and with 0 info about it. If you follow the normal quest flow, you will find the entrance to this dungeon during your last quest in Vashj'ir, after a colossal battle featuring Neptulon the Tidehunter himself. As you approach the giant whirlpool beneath Vashj'ir, you get sucked in, everything swirls around you, and - tadaaa - you drop in the elemental realm of water. Pretty cool looking place, by the way. But let's talk content now!

Cataclysm Dungeon Bosses
A couple of builds ago Cataclysm alpha testers saw the first "real" achievements from the new expansion - achievements different from the random funny placeholders and the standard exploration achievements. I am talking about the dungeon (and some raid) achievements. And although they were cool in and of themselves, to me there was something else intriguing hiding inside them - the knowledge of what the different instances will be called and what kind of bosses they will feature. From this we could even gather some very basic and preliminary information about who (or
what
) those bosses will be. Interesting stuff for me and other players eager to learn more about the expansion.
So! Let me get to the good stuff and present you with a list of all the bosses in the Cataclysm dungeons, as well as with some short description and links whenever they are available. Keep in mind, only Blackrock Caverns and Throne of the Tides are available for testing (even if some of us managed to sneak inside the Stonecore), so information beyond those 2 (3) will be
scarce
virtually non-existent. Also, keep an eye out for a similar blog for raids!

The latest news on the Internet - Cataclysm closed beta is hitting us good! But we all know this. What's more important is that since the NDA has been lifted, we'll be showering you with tons of new information, blogs, guide pages, videos, screenshots, and dataz.

UI Changes
in Cataclysm (and you should check it out if you haven't), so I decided to go a different route - do a dungeon, see how it feels, give a few screenshots, and a bit of an overall opinion about how the experience is.
Right now the only two dungeons available for testing are
Blackrock Caverns
and the
Throne of the Tides
. So I went to my good old friend, the Dungeon Finder, and said "Yo dawg, you heard I like dungeons? Give me a random one!" And so the
Blackrock Caverns
popped...
