The lynch mob and their pitch forks are out in full force it seems. The whole system of the maw and stygia is flawed to begin with. Being max rep for quite a while the activities seem extremely unrewarding. I can barely get myself to do the weeklies on my main let alone on alts. So if some people actually decided to farm stygia by killing mobs who the hell cares. Farming is a basic principle of mmos. Personally I didn't participate in the farm. I would rather watch paint dry than farm stygia in such a manner. But damn are so many people extremely vindictive in these posts...
so when ppl gunna get suspended for "abuse of game mechanics" when they farm ppl in torghast till they have 0 stygia left huh?
Good, I knew it was a bad idea and didn't exploit it myself.
Blizzard made this entire thing possible. Players got punished for spawning, killing, and looting mobs using no other media than their own characters in this game...I have no problem with banning these players or not. They took the risk, so they face the consequence. But this gesture from Blizzard doesn't seem smart. From what's happening around me, people launched DOTA2 or some mobile games and spent hundreds of dollars there buying items, raise up characters, etc., as they or their friends get banned in WoW anyways.Guild raids forced to pause. So yeah in 2021 mythic raid requires exactly 20 people, impossible for more or less.Mythic+ players have to pug because their teams are absent of a player or two who get banned. In the end,Exploiters get banned and are going to lose something they at least put efforts in, using simply actions available in-game.Non-exploiters are happy, for seeing fairness fulfilled, knowing that they did not lose anything but are now losing some teammates for at least a few days.Blizzard, likely getting blamed, by both exploiters and non-exploiters for making this possible.Other gaming companies, get happy for Blizzard players now take more time and spend more money in their games.so... there's no winner in this except for Blizzard's competitors. I see no point in arguing about whether they should get banned or not. Just see this shit happened, and let it happen.... and? DOTA2, launch :P
Tell me again WHY are some people crying over the "excessive" or maybe even "unfair" punishment? All Blizzard did was REVERSE the stygia they formed by exploits, nerfed the rewards they gained by using that stygia and upto 1 week of suspension as a reminder to NOT do such activity again and also to have this on their account for future reference. The only real loss (if you even consider) is the suspension. Everything else was just the exploited stuff being removed/reversed back. I actually wish Blizz would take some serious actions against those exploiters rather than "reverse back what they farmed" and a merely 1 - 7 days suspension. Chances are some of these exploiters will do similar exploits again if/when they get a chance.
imo kinda BS of wowhead to tell the community and seem to bait players to farm it then proceed to report about the suspension. Pretty sure someone at wowhead could have just alerted devs privately without the need to bait the community.
Punishment fits, however what punishment befits wowhead for advertising this before it got fixed? How many people got punished for doing what wowhead said was a viable stygia farm - in not so many words.
Why can't they just perma ban them ? 7 days and removal of they cheated resource and 3 levels down on conduits is a slap on the hand, Surely they won't ever cheat again right ? right ?. They outright showed they are willing to cheat and exploit. Game has no need what so ever for people like that, just get the trash away from the game permanently
This is great but I still see armies of bots abusing mob spawns to farm massive amounts of raw gold which is MUCH more harmful.
And to think it wasn't even necesary to exploit: make group to kill mobs that drop stygia, be near them when they die without damaging them. Result: you loot stygia without getting threat from jailer. Healing people who kill those mobs also doesn't give threat with jailer.
And we like to thank wowhead, who baited probably a good amount of ppl into the exploit by posting about it and where to do it :DSrsly, next time if u want to report about an exploit dont tell the method and location ...And yes, there was a warning and its their own fault for using it.But its like : hey this is forbidden, but lemme tell you exactly how and where to do it firstAlot of ppl probalby didnt know about it until wowhead told them how and where
Glad to see the GMs are active in the fight against exploiting!
