All the people with the "frozen at 50" are missing why it would pop you out at 50 in the first place. 50 is what the game mechanics are using as a trigger to give SL access and normal phasing. 50 is also what the people who don't want to be Chromie time need to be. Really the ask is to be frozen at 49, almost 50. For there to of course be that final Chromie turn in that the player controls when they finally turn it in and become 50 & join people in normal phasing and lose scaling.
This is so bad. What a**hat decided this would be a good idea? Oh, you're level 50 and you're a few quests from finishing that storyline? Too bad, ported out, sorry.
I don't know, but I'm sure whoever it was, he was promoted and given a hefty salary increase.
They should never have introduced this Chromie Time thing at all, and instead make the Chromie scaling the default for all those areas without a special mode.
The problem with that is old raid scaling - most people still wanted to be able to farm old raids just as easy as before - if they're all scaled to level 50 its probably going to make them harder to solo.I believe legions raids are scaled to 45 and BFAs to 50, therefore scaling them all to 50 would make them impossible to solo pre level 60
I cannot find anywhere that says how to turn off xp gains to not exit Chromie. I heard the conventional exp freeze isn't available, when Chromie time is active. So how does one do it?
I don't know where I saw it on WoWhead or wherever(WoWhead is where I get most of my news outside of the Blizzard Launcher), but I read something that led me to think the "Chromie Time"(not sure it was even referred to as that at the time) was for ALL levels. Basically from what I read it would work about like it does now for levels 10-50, but you'd also at level cap be able to go to a zone of your choosing and have you level reduced to like 10(only for the zone). You'd level as you progressed through the zone, it would have no effect on your actual level or anything outside the zone. In fact if you left the one you'd immediately go back to your normal level. Upon reentering you'd revert to wherever you'd progressed to in the zone previously. There would also possibly be an option in the zone Talking to Chromie or Zidormi to have the zone in the current timeline or whatever(you'd be able to switch between at leisure between current and your leveling timeline). So of course I went into the game after pre-patch, set up my talents and stuff, searched for Chromie and found her. Unfortunately when I spoke to her she informed me that I was needed in Icecrown with no quest or anything but a short dialogue in a window. I was disappointed, asked in trade what is up. That resulted in nothing but that it is for leveling. I then decided to do deeper research about it for the first time since the pre-patch, and came across this article(with players posting sadness about it porting them out at 50 and players even somehow saying that's a good thing...). I did also read The more in-depth explanation of "Chromie Time" on WoWhead.Anyway I'm currently not so happy with the whole thing. Personally I not only don't really have much to level up to 50 or so after playing for 11 years. But I really wanted to take my DH through like Outland or Pandaria without one-shotting half the zone with a single AOE(an exaggeration to be sure but ya know the OP of being level capped in those zones). Well hopefully whatever I remember seeing becomes more a reality when the xpac hits(or some point during at least). Maybe Blizz will see posts like mine too and make it a reality.
So is this implemented yet or is it on PTR?
Here's a returning player who'd love to see timewalking to level 50. I'm partway through the Suramar zone and storyline, by far the most beautiful and engrossing content I've found in WoW.I hit 50, I got ported, the mobs turned to trash, and my heart broke.Timewalking promised to let me fully experience a past storyline. But with no gameplay challenge and no access to Legion dungeons on group finder, I'm not sure I'll continue with this character.Timewalking has such promise for those who like lore, and makes the game more accessible for new and returning players. So I agree, a better execution would be to freeze XP gains at 50 in timewalking.
Will this problem fixed? Because for now how it stands is b*ll$%^&.
I was in Pandaria (chromie time) and we were ganked by a 50 so it seems people are NOT getting booted.
I just experienced this myself... I was questing in Suramar, enjoying the story and looking forward to experiencing it in its entirety (which I've never gotten to before), when I hit lvl 50 and my Timewalking Campaign abruptly came to an end. I had no idea that would happen. What's even the point of the campaign if you can't actually finish it? Now Suramar is a lvl 45 zone, and I can kill every npc with a single tap. I'm so disappointed, and I don't know what to do.
This happened to me today. I was leveling in Twilight Highlands (Cata Chromie Time) trying to get from 45 to 50 (Horde Character) and more importantly to get the achievement done from completing the story there. As soon as I hit 50 the damn BFA Heart of Azeroth quest came up and then I was warped back to Org and lost all track of the quest chain I was on. Now I gotta figure out how to finish it cuz the game no longer shows you where the quests are since they are now "too low level". To make things worse I also accidentally abandoned the HoA quest and have no clue how to restart it.
