Alright. I need Chromie Time MORE than Shsdowands.
One of the other things that is missing from my point of view (unless it is there and I just didn't see it, always a distinct possibility with these old eyes of mine) is some sort of indicator in the UI that you are in Chromie time. I know you can figure it out from looking at the zones and their levels, but at least in beta, where getting into Chromie time didn't always work, it would have been nice to have a "buff" indicator in the top right of your screen to indicate you are in Chromie time. That indicator, of course, would be extra important if Blizz (pleeeeeez) implements the ability to turn Chromie time on and off (most likely) when visiting Chromie at her spot near the embassies. Instead of sending you directly to your capital, have it pop up a quest saying essentially, "Grats, you are now ready to play in Shadowlands, and your head person awaits you." Accepting the quest gives you a portal to Chromie. And then leave you and the mobs level-capped until you go see Chromie. Everybody wins. Speed levelers get to speed, other players get to enjoy the questing and recipe and materials gathering and all that.I'm not seeing a downside to this, but I welcome thoughtful discussion presenting any possible downsides.
It should definitely NOT auto port you. Give you a push quest and a one use hearthstone to get you where they want you to go. I also think you should be able to turn chromie time on or off whenever you want to go back and play old stuff.
"We want you to experience the full story of an expansion" >>> "REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION AND DROP THEM OUT THE WINDOW! STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITH YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD! DOWN! DOWN! DOWN!"
Sounds good. Old content is irrelevant.
Hello! I'm the original forum post author.I think another really helpful piece of information is the transcript from Ion's original announcement of the feature:
Wow I completely misunderstood the point of this whole thing. I assumed it would have the whole world scale from 10-50 Why does it even turn off at all? I don't really understand Chromies involvement in the whole thing. It seems needlessly complicated. As it works currently anywhere in Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor is just level 60 for my 120 character. It scale with you until you hit 60, and then it just stays 60.......Why is "chromie time" even a thing? Just make the whole world scale to 50, and then stay at 50, why turn it 'off" why is 'off' even an option?
This is absolutely the wrong solution. At level 50 I should have the option to keep going in the old zone if I want to (perhaps with XP frozen) although I don't see the problem with staying in Chromie Time until 51 or 52, if that's what I want to do to finish out the zone/expansion. It's been allowed in **every** other expansion to date - why should Chromie Time be any different?Ion likes to talk about player agency, right? Where's the player choice here? Poor form Blizz, I hope this is just a beta thing.
Yeah, nope, make this go away immeadiately. That is an absolutely horrid way to handle it.If nothing else, it should throw up a prompt on your screen ASKING if you would like to be ported out to Orgrimmar, but it should be the PLAYER'S choice.
Horrible choice. Why players should be forced to go and eat Shadowlands content immediately if they don't want to? Just make chromie XP scale down with overleveling after lvl50 like it used to be.
how is party sync going to work then
I don't like this "play it our way" strategy they've been forcing on us lately. What if I want to finish the zone I'm in? What if new players are in the middle of the Zone story and want to see how it ends? Ridiculous.
Has anyone seen patch notes or an official blue post about this? No, so stop thinking the world is burning down because of a possible glitch in a feature. Report the issue, track it, but stop spamming comments about how this is the end of the world as it is more than likely a bug, and a bug that we now have time to see fixed with the release delay.
i see 2 issues with the referenced thread 1) expecting chromie time to be some sort of permanent level sync 2) the auto kicking at level 50the first was never advertised and the second is just arguably the more important issue since it's jarring to just be booted while you're midway doing something (the original announcement did mention you should be able to play one of the expansion from start to finish via Chromie time though)at the end of the day they should just reduce the experience (or zero it in the extreme instance) rather then just straight up booting you back to the capital
Just inform the players that they can't level past 50 with that system, but allow them to finish up zone stories if that's what they want.
Can you disable exp in Chromie Time? Or is that not possible? If it is possible, that's a good bandaid fix at least.
Blizzard, what the hell? You are kidding us? This Chromie feature was amazing for a lot of players to finally get possibility with no hurry get through lore in chronology, but.. THIS? Give me my money back
