So: I may be misunderstanding things, but from reading this it seems like there's a bit of a problem with leveling in Shadowlands. That problem being that the leveling experience in various xpacs is not going to be remotely comparable. How so? Well. You will be able to chose which xpac you want to level in, and you will be able to reach level 50 by doing only content from that xpac, and then head straight into Shadowlands content without doing more than one xpac. Sound pretty comparable, you say?Well: Here's the rub. If you choose to do TBC for your 1-50 experience, then you'll be level 50 at the end of TBC. Great! Except your gear is gonna all be ilevel 38-39 max. You're going to be starting Shadowlands at a disadvantage.A disadvantage how? Well, just compare that to a player who does BFA content instead. They will level from 1-50 in BFA, just like the TBC player. Presumably it will be the same speed and will be equally easy—but once they're done, they will have items that are level 66 or even higher. So it's clearly not a fair choice. You can chose to level in old content, but why in God's name would you? You would be handicapping yourself and would end up with gear that is half as good or less than the gear that players who level in BFA will have. Which means ultimately, it's a false choice. Blizzard wants the optics of being able to say you can level in any content you want, but the only real option if you don't wanna start Shadowlands woefully undergeared is BFA....Now. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I want to be wrong about this. The idea of having to slog through even more BFA content on all my new alts in Shadowlands, just to have viable gear, is not something I want. It just seems to be what these numbers are pointing to. For the leveling experience to actually be up to the player's discretion, then the rewards for leveling in each area would have to be somewhat comparable. At the moment, it seems like they're going to be anything but.
they should just cap the vanilla areas to 50. I don't give a &*!@ about doing any of the expansion areas, my favorite is always leveling through vanilla.
see that table is misleading because it is missing the word "cap" at the end. It should say Item level cap just like the earlier table should say Level cap
I just finished leveling my mage to 50 and item level to 95 but I still have to use me legion artifact weapon because Blizzard doesn't want to give weapons out. It's funny to me that a weapon oriented game makes it so hard to get a weapon. And they just came out with corruption item a little while ago but now that we've grinded to make the Echoes of Ny'alotha to buy some corruption items it's all been discontinued. I loved that Twilight beam that did 18% of my health as damage. They should have left good enough alone. Squish is fine but why change the good stuff we had?
Do you guys (or any site) have a simple conversion chart of iLevel pre-and post-9.0? That or a tool where you can input the pre- or post-patch number and get the other?I'm talking all the way from late Legion / beginning of BfA to highest BfA content. Just the numbers. :)
