Reading through this as a reasonably succesful mythic raid leader, I hate it. The system is basically saying "you make the judgment if you want to do more dps at the expense of extra mechanics."...EVERY dps is going to opt into more dps -- regardless of the cost, but my fear is that we'll waste tons of time on silly wipes in binary-mechanic fights where someone "saw a Method streamer do it with 80 corruption, so I should be able to, too."
I can only echo the critique given in these comments; stop developing corruption. It's a bad system.
I seriously do not understand the hate the corruption system is getting. Honestly, I'm glad its replacing titanforging. People don't seem to understand that because of this new system a definite BiS list will return, because the absolute highest ilvl gear will only come from mythic Ny'alotha. And if you people hate the corruption pieces so much, just go purify them and not deal with it at all. I honestly can't wait to experience this system and enjoy it in 8.3 and I truly love when blizzard implements fun mechanics like this.
Are the purple void zones visible to other team mates?
Dunno, I like the system. It's something new and interesting and I'm looking forward to it. Also couldn't be bothered to invest so much negativ emotion into a mechnic that's only around for 1 tier. Even if I disliked it. Sorry, gloom-squad.
Unless they just changed it, only the afflicted player can see and/or has to deal with their own corruption effects & the damage from them
if they only would put their focus on making more content for the next year of bfa instead of trying 3 different gearing systems in 3 patches that would be great. I'll see how this corrupted stuff works out in the end but im afraid i wont be able to keep up much with my mythic raiding friends in m+ and besides that there is little content 8.3 offers at all besides an assault and grind for horrific visions.
I actually like this new system. Not from a gameplay point of view, but from the point of view of the story: now that N'zoth is fully free to spread his darkness around Azeroth, I think it suits that even our weapons and armors get corrupted by his darkness. I think it adds a taste to his invasion, but I on the other hand understand that it's a very bad and hostile system for the gameplay and it can be annoying for raiders and pvpers.
Yeah rogue will just go full corruption and shadowcloak their way throught &*!@ luv it !
Just when you think it could not get any worse this pops up. This is the worst system I have ever seem come to WoW, It's just another bad system on top of already bad systems in BFA. Worst expansion ever!
My biggest worry with this is raid tuning. If they tune the bosses with corruption in mind, many players are going to hate it. If they tune the raid by ilvl alone then guilds will blow through it, and again many players will hate it. It just seems like another lose/lose situation that, yet AGAIN, Blizz has made for themselves. This goes for M+ and PvP as well. It really does feel like BfA is just a testing ground.
Just more incentive to never engage with the corruption system and purge all your gear that has it.
Really would in their right mind want this Corruption on their gear?
