From seeing the picture, at first, my eyes lit up like a the flames of Ragnaros because I thought those were actual heirloom items that scale with your level. They wouldn't even have to offer an XP boost. But those are just... tokens you can send to a reroll to get a random piece of gear that you will replace an hour later?Nope, sorry Blizzard, try again.Man, during a timewalking week, you can buy for almost nothing items that are ilvl 350 at the week's capital city where you bring back the quest item that rewards 500 of the required currency. If those tokens were base-310, I'd say "alright, nice!".
Every time Blizzard makes a change to IEs it feels more and more like they've never even played one outside the initial development. It was great that they added purchasable collectable items to supplement the horrible RNG drop rates that haven't particularly improved despite claims otherwise. But being Blizzard they immediately had to go and muck it up by obliterating the dubloon drop rates to require players to spend even more time trying to earn the new items. All this change does is prove certain staff members at Blizzard have zero idea of how their own game works at this point and are focused more on time sinks than quality content. As for these new items, they're completely worthless as they stand. Dubloon drop rates are so bad it's quicker and easier to throw a Normal dungeon or two into the queue and pad out your equipment instead of wasting what few precious coins you've acquired on substandard junk. As many others have already pointed out you can simply buy far superior gear from the AH at low prices in addition to the option of equipping any 310s/325s you find during the expeditions. After that it's a simple matter to run down WQs and any Emissary offering gear and you're ready to go.
Agreed the the drop rate for doubloons is horrible at best nd makes getting anything a chore unless you want to mindlessly grind islands in hopes of getting some .
This solution is laughable at best considering the drop rate of Seafarer's Dubloon are terrible.
you do know 8.1.5 is adding the heirlooms to BFA right..?
As people already stated, the dubloon drop rate was severly nerfed. Also, seems like after the buff on other cosmetic stuff drop rate, that was ninja nerfed back too. That lines up well with the general tactic of keeping players logged on for their precious metric by "compelling" instead of "incentivizing" (both terms interpreted through a game filter). Between the price and the ilv these tokens will see a niche usage, at best, just slightly better than the 100 dubloons rep tokens.
Then, It is better to get gears from Timewalking vendors, which gives 350s, instead for hard work on islands to get some coins to spend on BOA, but I hope they fix this to better iLevel before release of the patch, if not, then this is very useless update.
So much for my hopes this was going to be the "target island rewards" concession we were promised.Quest gear? What's the point? I barely get twenty doubloons a week. I'll ignore this thing completely, and it was one of the things I was most excited for.
Do the items they make have unique looks? Or does it reuse Quest appearances?
Can't they just make all island rewards buyable with those damn dublons ? Also I'd like to be able to chose the island I want to do, this randomness is annoying when I'm targetting specific stuff.
If only these were the actual heirlooms for the currently missing slots.../sigh. I'd do islands for those.
