I for one will follow Sylvanas and keep the gift of N'zoth not because i 100% support them because it might lead to a more fun story later down the line with a victory at all costs horde and or old god fun times. instead of a honor bound stale mate leading no where.
The Sylvanas choices give me an idea of where they're headed.Seems every time you lie, or do something to undermine Sylvanas, she speaks as if shes aware you did but doesn't act on it as you're a valuable asset to her. We all know Sylvanas doesn't truly like, or "care" about those under her, she respects their usefulness.I have a feeling if you keep making these lying or undermining choices, when you stop being useful to her, you'll quickly be thrown away when her story takes a turn away from The Horde.
I don't see how the developers can straight up tell us that the story is written "months, if not years in advance" and also tell us player choice will have any actual impact on the narrative and expect us to believe it. The only player choice we'll get is token things like support this guy or that guy, cleanse this corruption or keep it, and the "payoff" will probably just be a toy that lasts an hour and has a 24-hour cooldown. The events and their consequences are going to play out the way they were always intended to and all we get is to say our character expressed an opinion on it. We don't need the game's help figuring this out. Mass Effect 3 built their entire franchise on the premise of meaningful player choice, and for the most part that story ended the same no matter how you played it. I think Blizzard is fooling themselves and players are letting themselves be fooled into thinking they're going to have any actual impact.A friend floated this idea that maybe they're actually going to look at the data of the players who chose to support Saurfang or Sylvanas, but since we can presume they've already determined what the outcome will be, I don't know what they'd even do with this data. The only choice player should be concerned about is with talent choices, gear choices, and things related to their character-- not in their impact in a world they share with other people.I understand that WoWHead is probably the last place to find any actual criticism for Warcraft's development choices, but I'm still let down that it's being not being adequately criticized for the half-measure that it is.
I'll never understand people who want to get rid of Horde vs Alliance. If anything, the game needs to stop treating Horde like pretend Alliance and lean full into the two factions having completely seperate values, and stop caring what an Alliance main who writes Anduin fanfic feels when they play their Horde alt. There's a MMO that, for money reasons, decided to get rid of "faction" conflict with its story. It's been mind numbingly awful ever since in terms of story. It's called Star Wars the Old Republic. Why anyone who's remotely sane would want WoW to follow a similar narrative path is beyond me.As for "choice", people are odd ducks. The choice is going to be superficial, and they clearly only made these superficial changes so players who'd play Alliance if their friends weren't Horde can feel "good" about playing Horde. There's a reason why there's no player "choice" in the Alliance story. For all the talk about how WoW is really World of Horde, it's incredibly insulting to have one's faction written for Alliance-at heart-players. lol
i am not relly choosing anthing. They give me a toy if i go one way or nothing in the other. I would never choose the option if it werent for the toy
I may not play on an RP server or get into WoW RP, but I love these choices (even if they might not go anywhere). Letting my Forsaken characters be loyal to their queen, while all others side with Saurfang and Baine, will always warm my cold rotting heart.I'd love for there to be a third "faction" after BFA. Not like the traditional Horde/Alliance, but like the Scryers/Aldor of TBC. Joining it would render you hostile to Horde/Alliance NPCs and neutral to your old faction's players (and friendly with all in that third faction), but only in the new content (120 and below, you'd still be Horde/Alliance). It would never happen, but it's always fun to imagine.

Hmm, theres a very high change that each Cosmic force has their representative. Like Arcane is the Titans, Void is the Old Gods, and Holy the Naaru... I bet there are some for Nature and Decay.
I will always always follow sylvanas to the end of time , she is my queen for all eternity
Waifu for laifu...or rather unlaifu.
I like this! keep doing it!
I like the overall idea of giving players choice, especially when the storyline is so polarizing. Allowing characters to disagree with Sylvanas' methods was necessary for their internal consistency as characters (at least for those players to whom it mattered).THAT SAID, this made me groan:
Are we gonna ignore the fact that Brother Pike is a part of Storm's Wake, an alliance based reputation and the fact he is willing to cleanse horde players of N'Zoth's influence?
The only player choice at this point is choosing whether or not to play.
So many comments missing the point of the article. It isn't about changing the ultimate outcome of the story, because that would be a mess and near impossible in an MMO like WoW. It's about which side your character ends up on when that outcome arrives.I'm personally hoping we ditch Horde vs Alliance and for gameplay purposes we can group/raid/pvp with whoever we want. While in the lore we go back to smaller factions that you can ally with if you want. With Warcraft 3: Reforged coming out, I wouldn't be surprised if we go back to Human/Orc/Night Elf/Undead.
