I'm honestly a little surprised at the amount of comments that are like "OMG, why did this guy write this guide for super old content?" This particular article is about a guide that the writer (SquireKel) considered to be well-structured or well-written, not necessarily about incredibly relevant content. I am the original guide writer of that Ashran guide. I published it on December 11, 2014. That was 3.5 years ago now. It was relevant at the time, and (back when views were visible) I remember it having something like 500k-1M. People did queue for it back then, it was reasonably fast to get into, and a lot of people were confused about how it worked. It was actually very flattering to have come to WoWhead for the first time in over a year and have seen my guide highlighted. Thanks SquireKel!
I actually loved Ashran back in the day -- and I never PVP --but I think that was the appeal though; Ashran didn't feel like traditional PVP to me, Ashran instead let me combine my raid lead / pve leadership skills in a PVP environment. If you had a good leader then it could be a great ride, though the fun was that your grip on of Ashran could be lost if you slacked. Pretty good balance there in hindsight. Taking the lead likewise was so satisfactory --with a few good calls most times the group would follow you --otherwise (in my experience) Ashran groups without a leader were usually looking for one.PS --I'm only 2-3 months unsubscribed but found it funny that an article on Ashran had me feeling all nostalgic, cheers wowhead/HelloKitty!PPS --Also, kudos to wowhead, your news and articles are far better than MMO-Champion -I think my "go to" website for WoW news should be you guys! I suppose USPs of wowhead are your Guides and mobile-friendly design, just wish your forums could overtake MMOC's but glad to see comments section alive! Long live wowhead!
The main reason for doing Ashran is to loot creatures for etc. Don't know about your server, but they're currently selling for around 37K on mine...
