I suck at making gold through the AH, but I've always been interested in it. I play a lot though so gold just naturally comes in, biggest gold income in Legion has been World Quests, making me over 600k raw gold a month at its peak, not counting the 4k+ Blood of Sargeras and other materials I have stored in my bank because I don't know the best option to convert it all to gold through the AH. I have 9m gold and have been paying for my subscription with gold since the wowtoken came out and paying for 2 accounts with gold since February. So I'm not super invested in making gold but would be fun to learn a thing or two, will be keeping my eye out for these guides.
Five auction houses! Jeez.
Great article :), looking forward to more :D.
A well put together article.I've never used Reddit, so I wouldn't know where to start with that, but I've been following gold-making for many years. I used to be active on the Justmytwocopper forums. Some of the regular users there were goldcapped on multiple toons.I haven't read through all of the comments, but one thing I'm currently preparing for is the increased demand for 抑魔金, which is necessary in the production of 源生抑魔金. The only thing that slows down its production is of course the limit to how much 萨格拉斯之血 you can gather up. When you are a casual player this can be fairly slow, as with most things in game. What will be interesting to see is whether more profit can be gained from making 源生抑魔金 or selling raw 抑魔金. If 源生萨格里特 is about as regularly gained as 萨格拉斯之血, it will be a bit easier to gauge the profit difference.
I buy and sell gear for transmog through the auction house. I used to use Auctioneer, but finally switched to TradeSkillMaster which was a major improvement once I got past the learning curve. It's steep, but YouTube videos help.My basic rules of engagement:- Don't deal with items that have an auction value of less than 300g. I spend enough time waiting at the mailbox, so I avoid the tiny stuff.- Sell on RP realms.- Buy items that are 30% or less of market value, but only if the market isn't flooded with a lot of the item. You don't need 20 of the same item in your bags.- Compare realm and region values if items have an unusual price. You have to watch out for people who are manipulating prices trying to make something really expensive look like a bargain.- Never buy crafted items.- Sell at market value (based on my own formula), with automatic adjustments for undercutting by up to 25% of market value or posting up to 10% above if there aren't any of an item posted.- Only deal with gear for levels 85 and lower since prices don't fluctuate as much.- Only post two of any item regardless of how many I have in my bags. - Don't read the trade chat on Moonguard while posting auctions. Just don't.Most of this I have set up in TSM, so I just collect expired auctions and run back to the AH and repost them. Then on occassion I spend some time searching for new things to flip. On a typical 2 day cycle I clear 100-150K gold. But collecting mail and reposting the auctions is time consuming, so I've started posting less often (typically every 2 weeks, over a weekend). It does help to have all the auction alts on a different account from the one I play on.What do I do with the gold? Buy time, pets, mounts, put gold in guild bank for sharing. I've never let it build up to a cap.
I dont want that my Black Market AH is shared with other servers. When you fix/change this i will be happy. Other than that i dont even care.
I recently started playing around the AH myself. My banking alt used to be at the aldor bank in Shattrath, but I recently moved to Booty Bay where there is an auctioneer right on top of the boxes, right next to the bank, right next to the mailbox. Literally no walking required.
This guide is nice and I did follow hes stream and I think that I might keep doing that.Anyways, my impression about playing AH is that common misconception is that there are some easy get rich fast ways how things work, this is pretty much as far from truth that it can be. There are some extremely rare situations when you get extremely rich with selling just few items, but those are rare. Example would be that you come across a no longer available repice and some rich completionist wants it and don't care about gold he has to pay, since he can pay alot for it, but those are rare cases.
i like the tauren AH at orgrimmar, you can acess your mailbox, AH and bak without dismount
