I don't understand the comic... Not trying to I be a $%^&*!, but I honestly don't understand it.
Maybe it is just me, but on my Hunter (the only level 90 I have), every single piece of gear I got by infusing radical mojo into latent kor'kron pieces from the Battlefield Barrens weeklys came with Stamina, Agility, and then a single large chunk of either Expertise or Hit. Not both, but a huge amount of one or the other. All four pieces were like this... not a one gave a single point in crit, haste, or mastery, not a one gave more than the single secondary resource. I get that most players at this point don't care about the stats on this gear at all, ilvl 489 is a step down for them, and if they are going for the gear, it is purely for transmog... but I quit the game when MoP was launched. I wasn't at max level on my main yet (I believe I was only up to around 67-70), so there was no new content for me to upgrade to, and I got frustrated enough to QQ when the accompanying patch took away my beloved talent tree (and nerfed me at my level; the class adjustments they made focused on levels 85-90 and just happened to introduce a sharp decrease in the amount of DPS I could put out compared to just a day before). I didn't start playing again until a few months ago, and as a relatively fresh 90 when Battlefield Barrens was announced, this gear was a big improvement in many of my slots. I think I was wearing four pieces of it at first, now that's down to just two, the leg armor and either the belt or shoulders (I forget which, but they are identical 12/16 armor slots anyway). I could have better gear than this by now in spite of everything, but being so new to the game, there is a steep learning curve. Now that the friends who talked me into signing up in the first place no longer play anymore, I lost my most valuable sources of knowledge. And, for all intents and purposes, the game changes considerably at max level... you go from concentrating on leveling and just learning your class's mechanics to concentrating on gearing up, and then you're starting on yet another steep learning curve. I almost always solo, rarely encounter players on my (dead) server that are willing to explain anything to a noob with nothing to give them in exchange, and I didn't particularly enjoy researching what I should be doing in-game at any given point... But the truth is that unless you've been playing a long time and had the game evolve around you, end-game requires quite a bit of reading, research, and making mistakes. Confounding this whole process is the fact that so few players are actually completely new to the game at this point, so great resources like wowhead tend to explain things in terms of how they relate to past content, focusing on what has changed and how. As a result, these resources were of limited use to me until I had the requisite knowledge to make full use of them. I wasted Valor on upgrades to pieces of armor that would quickly be replaced, and I didn't look up which factions offered the gear that was of most use to me. So while I did have fun playing the game, I prioritized my dailies based on which mounts I wanted the most, and dropped far too many Valor Points on items that weren't the best option for me.Back to the Tallgrass Guerilla gear I got... I understand the importance of getting up to 7.5% (or just slightly under if you can't get it exactly at 7.5%, for max DPS) in both hit and exp to prevent missing on bosses and level 91+ elites, and that any additional exp/hit after that is just a waste of potential DPS... that said, this gear is a pain in the ass to work with! The biggest problem is when any of these pieces of gear gets replaced by something better, I have to reforge the stats & change enchants on virtually every piece of armor I have in order to get back up to the hit/exp caps. Reforging is also a challenge when you're working with something like the leg armor. If it came with two secondary stats (like virtually every other max level armor I have ever seen), it is easy to reforge things for optimal DPS. But the leg armor I got (... of the Adroit) has something like +1133 Expertise as the one and only secondary stat. When you are aiming to keep that rating at as close to exactly 7.5% as possible without going over, working with such large amounts can become problematic.Reforging is a much easier process when you've got two smaller chunks to work with. I know that there are sites out there that will load your armory and tell you the optimal way (according to their stat priority charts) to reforge, gem, and enchant every piece, but they will frequently have you swapping out expensive gems and enchants (many of which aren't even available on my server's Auction House Monday through Thursday) when you can get (virtually) the same results using a fraction of the time, effort, and gold with reforging alone. And even when this gear is optimized, it is impossible to get it to ever give the same DPS you'd be putting out if you got a piece with +1133 Crit, or a mixture of two secondary stats.I just realized now that these pieces are even worse than I previously knew(!)... they only carry +1133 in one secondary stat (for 16/16 armor slots, which I believe are legs, chest, and head), where the ones that give two different attributes provide +763 of each (for a total of +1526 in two secondary stats, three if and when reforged). That is a loss of a potential +393 in secondary stats! I really wish I had noticed this fact six weeks ago, as I would have tried my luck at making new versions of the ones I am still wearing, hoping for a better result. Especially with the pants, given that if I could possibly score the +763 Critical Strike & +763 Haste variety. Instead I have been stockpiling Gahz'rooki pets to squirrel away and sell in the future... Ugh!Up until yesterday I actually had three Radical Mojos sitting in my bag, and I crated up my three Gazh'rookis and got three more. I am kicking myself over this now... my 90 has one set of armor, optimized for PvE, to use for all applications. But if I had tried my luck and got created Tallgrass Guerilla leggings & belt with anything other than exclusively hit or expertise, I could have used them for the beginnings of a PvP set. If I worked it out just right, I could swap out those two pieces at will, sacrificing only Hit and Expertise. I'd still be hit & expertise capped for PvP and mobs level 90 or below, and I'd gain up to 2660 additional points in a mixture of Crit, Haste, and Mastery... but at least I am learning. After all, it is just a game... the only real way to "do it wrong" is to not have fun!Sometimes I do get lucky in this game, but not often. The combined chances of getting either of the two weakest versions for each piece in this set (single secondary stat, either Hit or Exp) ranges between 26.6% and 33.5%. It figures that I would beat the odds and get the absolute least-desirable result four times in a row! I never seem to beat the odds (in a good way) when farming the rare elites of Pandaria for their rare drop items... I've still got four that I am working on, all in Dread Wastes... not a single drop yet after hundreds of kills.I'm going to have words with that Grummle that said I was a Luckydo...
