Honestly, playing online games with my husband has brought us closer together. It started out as his 'thing' and when I showed interest he took the opportunity to show me how to play, and to help me in-game. It helps when I understand what he's talking about and I know that I can depend on him to help me when needed (which is quite a bit! haha!). :)
me be forever alone (forever alone meme) but me be WoW player and that make me Happy O_T
I met my girlfriend through WoW, as well as three of my dearest friends, about 5 years ago this month actually. We still play together when possible, and joke about old times.
Well, I started Playing WoW and other MMOPRGs together with my Boyfriend. I really enjoy playing with him, so instead of going out like "normal couples" we stay inside doing arenas, dungeons, &more. I really enjoy the fact that you don't have to go out somewhere special to have fun, plus, online gaming made me be a little closer with my sister, since she started playing too with her boyfriend. In the end, we have another thing to talk about, something that never makes you bored.Ps:sorry for the bad english :)
If this was in WoW I'd be interested... but RIFT? No thanks.
I have met some pretty awesome people through WoW and other online games that I will probably never forget and then I have met that I wish I could forget but cannot :\ OTher than that I reckon Online Gaming has obviously helped many people find the love of their lives online as they are both doing their hobby together.
Gaming has had a profound effect on my life. In 2002 i met my soon to be wife online while playing a mmo called T4C. At the time we hung out with friends and everyone became like a family. Six months later a group of us met up in real life at comic con. We hit it off right off the bat. A couple weeks down the line i moved out to Indiana to be closer to her. In 2006 we decided to get married and by 2007 we had a baby girl. We still enjoy our online time together with each other as well as our friends we consider family.
Me and my boyfriend of 3 years now met by sharing a common employer, but WoW helped us get to know each other better and find out what we have in common. We still play together to this day and without him I'm not sure if I would still play :).
I've gained a great many friends who are just as supportive and great as my BFFs through WoW. Everyone who you meet in WoW has something in common with you, which is playing the game. It's nice to have something immediately to talk about. Finding the group that gets along well has been an adventure and not as much work as one thinks. Running around adventuring in Azeroth (or Outlands!) has been more enjoyable just because we can laugh and talk together.
Well most of my friends have played wow in the past, and some of them are still playing, so it hasn't been too much of a problem. I try to prioritize friends over the game, but I want them to understand that I'm not always going to be the one that has to lose something. So I don't think "you'll come with us every time we ask, regardless of you having to raid" for example, or if they plan something on a raid day on purpose just to see what I am going to do is something I like. That's it.Oh, and I haven't been playing when I was in a relationship so I can't say about that xD
When I started dating my boyfriend (again, we dated when we were 8th graders originally), I hid my WoW gaming from him. On raid days, I would say I was going out to visit my dad (he lives about a half hour away) and that I would call him when I got back into town.It was about 5 months into our relationship when he dropped over unexpectedly on lazy Sunday afternoon. I was going dailies, and my TB que just popped. I absent mindedly let him in, and sat back down for the battle when my realization that he found out about my WoW gaming had surfaced. He said, "Oh my god. You play WoW?"I said, "Eerrh, yeah. For a while now.""OMG I LOVE YOU. I STILL PLAY DIABLO 2, AND I WAS WORRIED YOU'D THINK I WAS WEIRD FOR DOING THAT," is what he said.2 years later, we're still going strong. When I'm playing WoW, he plays D2 or N64. We both can't wait for D3 to come out, so we can play together :)
I actually had a boyfriend that got me into WoW and we played together when we weren't going on dates and such, it's definitely a bonding experience if you can understand moderation in playing the game in a relationship. Aside from that relationship I have met one other person that I have seriously dated and met through WoW. Along with meeting guys that become something more than a friend I have actually made a decent number of really good friends since I started playing through raiding and/or pvping, some have been there from the start and others are newer friends but end up being the ones that I spend a lot of my in game time doing things with outside of raiding. Overall, it's been a good experience for meeting some great people, significant others and friends alike.
Online gaming has pretty much helped us build our relationship from when we first started dating. We played Diablo 2 together when we couldn't actually spend time together, and our parents preferred it over us tying up the phone lines. When we got married I played Asherons Call with his parents, and it honestly helped me build a relationship with my in laws. When World of Warcraft was in closed beta phase, a friend gave me a key code to help him test it, and I got hooked instantly. After watching me get so involved in the game, my husband decided to try open Beta with me, and we both loved it. We have played WoW since. We have played and tested many other MMORPGs together since then. Online gaming gives us the ability to do something together, but still be doing our own little thing. Online gaming actually helped Save our marriage during a rocky patch. It gave us a distraction to cool off, and the friends we had made via online games were always there to lend an impartial ear and listen. And there's really nothing like getting your frustration out on some good old fashioned PVP.
I met my husband while playing MU*s (Online text-based roleplaying games). We were off and on for years because of the distance - he was in Florida, I was in Texas. Usually we'd be affectionate for a few months, then it would cool (especially if something outside of the games caught our attention), then we'd hook back up. This continued for a few years until I started playing FFXI. And, lo and behold, who was found on my server? My one-day husband! If you're not aware, originally FFXI didn't allow you to choose which server you played on, but rather placed you on a random server. The odds of us both ending up on Phoenix were pretty long - but there it was! We started playing together, grouping together, and eventually, moving in together... and one thing led to another... and here we are, eight years later, married for five years, as happy as can be.Thanks to online gaming, I've been able to meet people across the country and around the world. I've met the love of my life (15 years!), my absolute best friend ever (9 years strong!), and many other amazing friends whom I see out-of-game as well as in.
Me and my Fiance are set to wed this Nov. We met on WoW during a raid. My guild was having trouble in BoT and she just happened to be a friend of a friend. She came in helped us with our strategy and we finally got through. She then began to raid with us on a more regular basis and during this time we started talking more and more and then began talking outside of the raid setting i.e. Real-ID, whispers etc. We than began our Skype calls a week or two later and began to fall in love. I was living in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the time while she resided in New jersey. The more we talked the more I knew I wanted to be with her. So here I am in central New Jersey with the woman of my dreams and I have World of Warcraft and mainly Blizzard to thank for that. She is amazing and everyday we grow stronger. We are even in the same 25 man raiding guild and are 8/8N and 2/8H and raid 3 days a week. Thank you WoW!
If it wasn't for online gaming, I would never have met my husband, the father of my children, my best friend. We met nearly a decade ago while playing Everquest. I apparently caught his eye while doing a dungeon group (one of the first ones for the game.. I believe the expansion was Lost Dungeons of Norrath). Later, I inadvertently applied, and was accepted into, his guild. He liked me from day one, but never told me until nearly a year after. It came as a shock. While he was a good friend, I had never even thought that he might have feelings for me. We took our relationship offline to test the foundations.... and here we are, two kids, a mortgage, a family. Online gaming keeps our relationship strong even now, giving us a way to reconnect through our love of video games, fantasy and science fiction. Kind of amazing, when you think about how it all started with a chance encounter online.
When I was in 10th grade, there was this girl whom i never ever spoke to.Then one day during christmas break she calle dme on skype to ask for advice with World of Wacraft, (Which she had just started playing) We ended up sitting on skype and talking for hours and hours each day, and became best friends. Now, 5 years after that, we're still best friends ^^ Still playing WoW together.
