Just an FYI, the map of the fires in the guide is off by a little - some of the pins are in the wrong zone or out in the middle of nowhere.
Nice guide, but sadly there are numerous errors with regard to bonfire locations: the Northrend ones are simply not relevant to any achievements or quests this year, but I guess you can hit them for the Blossoms.Quite a few of the locations are simly wrong, owing to changes in the Cataclysm:- Stonard is not a location anymore (go to Bogpaddle instead)- the Kalimdor map has errors for Ashenvale, Silithus, Thousand Needles and a few others. The only continent that was free of errors (and relevant to 2011 quests) was Outlands.
I was wondering if there are fires in the new areas (except Vash'ir: :P), I have done all possible alliance/horde/capital fires but still miss 66 blossoms to buy the last stuff I want
The location of the Horde flame for Thousand Needles needs to be updated. There is no flame anywhere around Freewind Post. In fact, I can't find any flame in 1k Needles at all.
I'm finding lots of new fires in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, on my "I swear this is the last time we do this no really I mean it this time" toon. I'm using the Wowhead client to upload data whenever I take a break from scouring the countryside.Meantime, the logic seems to be:If the zone is solidly Horde or Alliance (think Durotar or Dun Morogh), there's only one flame, of the appropriate faction. If it's a contested zone, there seem always to be two flames - one apiece - either at what's generally considered the faction's "main" town for that zone or if there's a neutral town, both flames will be found there.I couldn't find flames in Eastern Plaguelands, but I didn't look as carefully as I could have. There are so many neutral towns in EPL.The new flames aren't a part of the achievement, but are good for amassing more blossoms, experience, and gold (guild experience and reputation as well!).
Idle pondering -- wonder if it's worthwhile to mention that desecrating a fire will flag you for PvP. I mean, it makes a certain amount of sense, but was a rude awakening the first time I did it last year (and of course there were high levels of the other faction standing nearby that happily ganked me). Also, just in case you don't check the comments on achievements, want to to point out this comment. I had tons of problems with the Torch Juggler achievement last year -- read all the forum posts and tried all the tips, and it was simply evil incarnate. Tried again this year, bashed my head on the desk in frustration, then read the comments. The Juggler addon made it really really easy and I highly recommend it for anyone having issues with the achievement.
Attention: The satchels now will drop Burning Blossoms (apparently a hotfix was pushed through). Seems to be a 100% drop.
Ok, so the no loot thing is intended. I asked a GM and this is the answer;"It is perfectly normal to receive a Satchel of Chilled Goods and find nothing in it. This is because in previous years, there used to be Emblems in the bag. As the game now uses a Currency Point system (Justice Points, Valor Points etc.) and there are no physical items for these, the bag gives you the points, but contains no items. Sometimes you will find items in the bag, but these are the rarer additional loots that can be inside. "Oh well, it's only strange they still call it Satchel of Chilled Goods if there's no Goods..
