Shadowlands is here!
Well what a week it has been! Shadowlands has launched and we are all exploring the new zones and quests and discovering so many new things in game. Exciting time for sure and for the gold making community this is where massive profits can be made as new markets open up and people rush back to spend gold and try things out.
You will hear many success stories as fellow gold makers share the news of what's been working for them and how much gold they've made. Much as you'll hear of people who have level capped all their alts and gotten a host of achievements. These are fantastic, inspirational stories and there are many lessons to learn from them.
This is a momentous time, enjoy the content as you see fit at a pace that suits you. Here, I will share the news from the gold making community from flips to farms to success stories for you to digest at your leisure!
Goldcapped in Under 48 Hours
This is the kind of success story we we often see at the start of an expansion, someone who is prepared to focus strongly on an avenue, read the market and get ahead of the curve to maximize profits on their particular server.
Shares how they did it with mainly Inscription and then followed up with Blacksmithing & Jewelcrafting ...
Super stoked, First time I've actually hit gold cap in raw gold alone and it's mind boggling to me in the amount of time it took. To anyone who saw my
yesterday I had no idea it could possibly get better than that but here we are. If any of y'all have any questions ask away and i'll try to answer with my 16 years of WoW wisdom.
TLDR ; Scribed till ~7m gold, BS/JC for the rest.
PS. There are still HUGE profits to be made on every server right now, I've seen a lot of people commenting on how the margin isn't super high on their servers for x items, But you just need to try out a few different markets and be prepared to swap if it doesn't work out.
Congratulations Sakara and thankyou for sharing. I would caution anyone trying this exact method now to look at your server first and check carefully what your profits might be before diving in. These kind of things can often be over before it's brought to the attention of the masses. That said, every market has it's niche and following your own experiments might result in something equally profitable.
has a great video that goes further explaining the after effects of stories like this and where to look for profits with crafting..
Farming BoEs in a 2x4
Shares how they had some wonderful luck in getting some high item level Bind on Equip (BoE) items from farming for an extended period of time ..
Today I farmed BoE’s from 05:00 to 13:00 and made 1 million gold by being lucky and persistant, I have no friends who cares about this so I thought I could share with people who cares about farming as much as I do!
Some more details on this:
there are currently qorld drop epics (item level 190, I believe) that have a very small chance of dropping for ANYTHING you kill. They're more or less the best gear you can get in the game right now - as a result they tend to easily sell in the 100k range.
In order to get these reliably, 2x4 farms (two groups of four people) have popped up, specifically farming mobs that 1) spawn quickly, and 2) can be killed quickly - kill a bunch of mobs really fast to increase the chance of getting a BOE. A monk slaps down a tank totem, everyone pulls to the tank totem, and you use AOE to kill them. Rinse and repeat. You can find these groups in the group finder - some are picky and only take certai classes (druids, monks, maybe mages).
.. and to help with explaining a 2 x 4 ..
There's a strange mechanic with how looting mobs works nowadays.. I'm not sure of the most accurate or best way to describe it, but my understanding is that a mob allows for 5 potential loot "slots" but with grouping you can effectively expand that to 8 because the tag from the 5th slot on the mob gets shared to the group from that other player not in the same group. It works out that with this tagging and this weird way to expand the number of people that can loot a mob with someone in their group tagging it, 2 groups of 4 is very efficient, all 8 players can always loot all the mobs killed by the two groups.
.. as to where to farm ..
Theres a spot in ardenweald that's pretty good but requires some doing to get it going. Theres another spot in maldraxxus right outside the house of the chosen that I've been using today and saw 3 boe drops in 2 hours. It's an insanely fast hyperspawn.
Maldraxxus is awesome but wayy harder. I've done 12h ardenweald on different spots and 4h maldraxxus so far. You need a strong group for maldraxxus not 120iLvl like most people are in ardenweald. 5 boes in that 16h. But lots of cloth many of which I sold for a lot at day 2 after launch. Made some good gold so far. Biggest draught was 7h30min without a boe drop. But then the drop was a boe I could sell for 200k so worth it.
These items are particularly valuable right now as players rush to get their characters geared as quickly as possible. Often, people are prepared to pay large sums for these and may even be a market in themselves for flipping. It's all about supply and demand.
Shadowlands Gold Cap Challenge
has started a new challenge coming into the launch of Shadowlands sharing how he is going to go about making gold this expansion and sharing the journey...
This time, Breg is starting with 500k gold, so already has a healthy chunk of gold at his disposal. These methods are going to be for more established goblins looking to learn how someone else might make their gold.
His original gold cap series was one of the main ones I watched back in Legion when I wanted to get into gold making. Let's hope he brings back the crafting song!
WoW Token Price Drop
Now might be a good time to buy a WoW Token with gold if you have some spare you'd like to convert into Battlenet Balance.. The price has taken a marked drop with the launch of the expansion much like it did at the launch of BfA although it's unlikely to drop as far...
Price Graph from
has shared another vendor shuffle that has some interesting price floors in store for more materials on the Auction House. This is great for stabilizing the prices of materials as well as providing a little profit for those prepared to do the shuffle ...
