We've pushed a hotfix that reduces the amount of XP needed for most levels between 40 and 100. Note that the new required amounts may not always display properly for the time being. We'll have details in the next hotfixes update.

There were such options before 7.3.5 when Blizzard decided to took them away to please that minority that want slow leveling.

Options i'm talking about are:

RAF with 300% bonus, which also allowed you to get free mount rewards
heirlooms that actually had a power over other items you can get at your level (i've spent tons of gold on them not to see them nerfed to uselessness)...
XP flasks that they removed
dungeon boosting your low level chars with high level char.

All that is gone now.

Op top of removal leveling options they also significantly increased (in many cases doubled) XP needed to each level, that wasn't even needed.
They also buffed mobs health significantly in the process, that also resulted major increase in time to level.
With 8.0.1 they buffed mobs health once more, making leveling completely impossible.

To sum it up, leveling now is at least 300% slower than it was pre 7.3.5, without any compensation to veteran players from Blizzard
(proposed changes were meant for new players, but also affecting veterans for no good reason).
Todays 14% decrease in XP required is nothing compared to all increases they did with 7.3.5 and 8.0.1 directly or indirectly (through mob health)...
It should have been at least 50% decrease to make leveling bearable at current state (or they could leave it as is and double heirlooms XP bonus instead).

This is why i'm so unhappy. Blizzard is doing really poor job with all those leveling changes and removal of leveling options.

I think that one of the bigger issues with leveling today is how outdated some of the content is that you are forced to go through. That problem will become bigger and bigger with each new expansion released, because the gap between old content and the new will become even more evident. There are many possible ways to address this, some require more effort (complete overhaul of old zones, and Blizzard would have to do that regularly with oldest content becoming obsolete) or less effort by giving player more freedom what content they want to tackle.

1-60 currently feels somewhat good, because many of the players, veterans included did not experience all zones after Cataclysm, because they leveled alts up by dungeon spamming. But as Cataclysm content ages, the dreadful feeling of leveling like in Northrend and Outland will appear in Cataclysm zones too.

Sensible thing to do would be to allow players to level up to max level by playing say 2-3 expansions worth of content in order to get them to max level. For example - choosing the latest three (so, currently it would be MoP, WoD and Legion) would net you level 110. This would guarantee that players that want to level alts at any time have freedom to go to old content if they so choose, but for best experience you could go to latest zones that have most modern feeling.

This is just part of the bigger problem. Other one that I have not mentioned is lack of rewards over the course of 110 levels...

So I have seen multiple people talking about having thousands of different mog items on the ah at a time and slowly selling them over weeks or months. I spent about a week farming up a bunch of a mid level mogs and tried to sell them and about a week later I had sold a small handful of them and then I noticed that I was paying 5-10g in deposit fees for each item. That is hundreds of gold every two days, it feels putting things up that have a low chance to sell and high deposit fees aren't even worth selling. Is there something I am missing?

Ever wondered how much gold you are going to spend on deposit fees, and if it's even worth to try to sell a transmog item on the AH?

With TSM4 and the new DBRegionSaleRate you can get a good estimate on how much gold you can expect to lose on deposit fees:

"1 / DBRegionSaleRate - 1" calculates how many deposit fees you can expect to lose for each time you actually sell the item. Posting your items for 48h, each deposit fee costs you 60% VendorSell.

"(1 / DBRegionSaleRate - 1) * 60% VendorSell" are the expected deposit fees.

Yeah, I'll mirror this sentiment. I was having the same problem as OP when I got into xmog and I realized pretty quickly that it was because I had too much low-value mog. Up your threshold to 500g+ and you'll find that you have a lot less inventory to manage, meaning lower posting prices, and higher returns when you do land a sale. It's also worth mentioning sale rate. You can keep stuff that sells for sub-500g, but make sure it sells at a high enough rate that you're not gonna have to spend a month posting it at a loss before landing your sale.

This is a better strategy if you have a lot of liquid gold sitting around.

It can be very difficult to turn a good percentage profit with higher frequency trades as the margins are much smaller. This is when longer term investments become more valuable.

If you could choose to make one auction house posting earn you 20,000 gold, or two hundred auction house events each at 100g profit what would you pick? The answer is both.

If you had enough gold to do both and they took about the same amount of time, you now earn 40,000 gold in nearly the same amount of time it would have taken you to make 20,000.

The higher frequency trades with good margins are always well saturated. You end up hitting a wall of profit making ability just based off supply/demand. Diversifying is the best way to make more gold in the same amount of time.

Sure it may take you a month to sell an item, and you may lose a large portion of that profit due to posting costs. As long as you don't hit negative you are still earning a profit. It may not be the best investment percentage wise but if you have the gold it was very low effort and is better than the gold sitting around.
