What a Year it has been!
As 2019 draws to an end, it's a nice time to reflect on what has happened over the past year and gather thoughts on what the next year brings and the things to look forward to.
This has been a year that saw Battle for Azeroth expand and develop the storyline while bringing in new raids and content throughout the year. As a gold maker, we have been able to ride these waves of raids, selling consumables and flipping BoEs as the playerbase strives ever for better items and seeks out new content.
By far the biggest spike of interest was the launch of Classic with it's own entirely new market of gold. It has been incredibly interesting to follow as we all chased those first few coppers again, working up to silver then gold. Money mattered, new markets opened and there was great fun in finding them. It was like nothing ever before using a combination of new knowledge and tools applied to old historical markets.
We had some amazingly informative posts on the

The goldmaking community as a whole has always been keen to share discoveries and lessons learned on Reddit as well as the Discord. If you are interested in learning more or staying on the pulse of the latest changes, I'd encourage you to check them out. It has been an honour to be a part of these communities, there are many more on YouTube and Twitter if you also follow those platforms as well as Blogs and Podcasts. A roundup of many of these resources can be found on the sidebar of the Reddit community. Of course, here on Wowhead, I will attempt to cover as much as I can on a weekly basis.
Samadan's Top Selling Items for 2019
On a personal note and in the spirit of sharing, here are my statistics over the past year as a gold maker...
Total Purchases - 6,530,542g
Total Sales - 11,780,865g
Total Number of Sales - 6,973
Bountiful Captain's Feast
Enchant Ring - Pacts & Accords of Haste
Enchant Ring - Pacts & Accords of Critical Strike
Enchant Weapon - All Varieties
Greater Flask of the Currents
Greater Flask of the Undertow
Enchant Ring - Pacts & Accords of Versatility & Mastery
Greater Flask of Endless Fathoms
Potion of Unbridled Fury
Drums of Fury
Superior Battle Potion of Agility
Enchant Ring - Accord of Haste (resetting markets)
As you can clearly see, my focus has been on a few professions, namely Cooking, Enchanting, Tailoring and Alchemy. These are just the big single items, it is also worth mentioning I have had great sales of Sinister and Notorious gear this year both as a Tailor and a Leatherworker. Also, even though Bountiful Captain's Feast was my biggest seller, it was not the most profitable.
What's been your best selling item for 2019?
A Look into the Year Ahead
Next year is going to be incredibly exciting for World of Warcraft. We may not have perfect 2020 vision, there are a few things we already know and can look forward to in the year ahead..
8.3 is first up in January with a completely re-vamped Auction House. This is going to be an incredibly interesting time for gold makers as we scramble to adapt to the new tools and adjust as our existing tools change. With this comes a new raid shortly after and more content to feed hungry players and therefore our job to supply them with the things they need/want.
recently posted a great summary of what the new Auction House is like and how it works.
At some point in the later half of the year will see the launch of the brand new expansion Shadowlands! This is always and incredibly interesting time as a gold maker as the rush into new markets begins afresh. In the lead up to that will be PTR updates and changes to keep a close eye on in anticipation of new markets.
What will happen between these two is anybody's guess. I foresee a winding down of BfA with players seeking to flesh out alts and achievements and finish off things they have yet to do. Will there be an 8.3.5? What more content can we expect at this stage?
Then there is Classic. The content phases will continue to roll out and new items and markets will open up. The playerbase and gold market is starting to settle with many already at 60, so it will be interesting to see how prices changes as base gold quantities rise.
Whatever else happens, I personally wish you all a very prosperous New Year and look forward to joining you in Azeroth in our adventures of Gold Making!!!
