Torghast Updated with Torments, A Soft Timer That Incentivizes Speed on Each Floor
Torghast has been updated with Torments, a mechanic that acts as a soft timer that makes speed more important as you climb the Tower! The longer that you take on each Torghast floor, the harder it will be.
Soft Timer and Break Rooms
In the Twisted Corridors (Random Torghast), Starting at ~Floor 10, you will receive one of six possible debuffs that act as a soft timer on each Torghast floor. This soft timer was briefly mentioned in
Towelliee's interview with Paul Kubit
. The longer you spend on these floors, the harder the rest of your run will become. This is to counteract the playstyle of always waiting for your cooldowns before you pull.
However, at the start of each floor, you now get a small safe area where you can change talents and prevents the soft timer from activating. In this area, you get a buff called
, which lasts until you leave the safe area, loot something or enter combat. This allows you to AFK or take a break during a run.
List of Torments
As each of these debuffs stack, the longer you take on each floor, the harder the floor will become. In Twisted Corridors, one of this Torments will be assigned randomly based on the zone you get assigned and it will stack for every floor that you climb. It's theorized that after 6 floors when you kill the boss, and the zone switches the debuffs will reset.
The might of the Upper Reaches increases Physical damage taken by the target by 1% every 60 sec. This effect stacks.
Remnants of Mort'regar increase magic damage taken by the target by 1% every 60 sec. This effect stacks.
The breath of the Coldheart Interstitia decreases the target's damage done by 1% every 120 sec. This effect stacks.
The Fracture Chambers seeks out new prey, calling forth a Mawsworn Shadestalker every 30 sec while the target is not in combat. These minions have 20% increased health. This effect stacks.
Skoldus' Eye is upon the target, calling forth Mawsworn Seekers every 45 sec while the target is not in combat. These minions have 10% increased health. This effect stacks.
Oppressive heat from the Soulforges inflicts 1% of the target's maximum health in Fire damage every 5 sec. This effect stacks.
will increase how fast the damage taken debuff stacks on each floor. At the start of each floor, the damage taken debuff will be reset to 0% and you will gain another stack of the Torment amplifying the damage taken.
On Floor #1, you will gain 1% damage taken every 60 seconds.
On Floor #2, you will gain 2% damage taken every 60 seconds.
On Floor #3, you will gain 3% damage taken every 60 seconds and so on...
Similar to the above debuff,
resets on every floor, but makes the damage done debuff stack faster for each floor you have completed.
On Floor #1, you will deal 1% less damage every 120 seconds. On Floor #2, you will deal 2% less damage every 120 seconds and so on...
stacks on every floor. At floor #1, you will take 1% of your health in damage every 5 sec all the way, floor #2, you will take 2% of your health in damage every 5 sec and so on...
summon periodic dangerous enemies when you're outside of combat. These mobs will try to gank you and making healing outside of combat difficult.
On Floor #1, these mobs will have 10% / 20% increased health. Floor #2 will have 20% / 40% increased health and so on.
