Thaldraszus Questline Highlights (Story Spoilers)
In this week's Dragonflight Alpha build, Thaldraszus is available for testing. This is the final zone we will play through when we reach the Dragon Isles, and its story will take us right up to the Vault of the Incarnates, the first raid of Dragonflight! We highlighted some of the most important events that we'll see in the story below.
WARNING: DRAGONFLIGHT STORY SPOILERS AHEAD!
Valdrakken, City of Dragons
In the first chapter of the Thaldraszus storyline, we journey to Valdrakken, City of Dragons, to hear Kalecgos's news of Raszageth's attacks in the Azure Span. We realize Primalists have already infiltrated the city, and when rooting them out, learn of their plans to attack South Hold Gate. We rush to help with the defense, to already find the Primalists have already taken the area and slain most of its drakonid guardians. With a surviving guardian's help, we attempt to reach and free the city's leader, only to find it was Commander Eranog who betrayed South Hold Gate in the first place, in exchange for power. We will see Eranog again in the Vault of the Incarnates raid, but for now, we slay the powerful proto-drake that has been left behind to hold the area, Magmatalon, freeing South Hold Gate once again.
In the second chapter, we head to the Shifting Sands, where the Bronze Dragonflight needs our help correcting anomalies in the timeline. We see many strange sights as we fight back the anomolies, and even learn how to perform some time warden duties ourselves - though the lessons come with risks. We help shepherd the timelines and work to take back the Bronze Temple from an attack lead by the Infinite Dragonflight - who are intent on bringing about the reality where the timelines are fractured and Nozdormu is transformed into their leader, Muruzond. Disastrously, when Bronze and Infinite magic clash, Chromie and the Infinite Dragon Eternus are thrown into an uncontrolled trip through the timestream!
Big Time Adventure
In the third chapter of this story, we chase after Chromie and Eternus, as their presence in the timelines send ripples through space and time. We visit a possible future, the Primalist Tomorrow, where the Primalists have won and recreated the world in their image. We head back to an extremely unusual alternative past, to say the least: Azmeloth! Where Murlocs reign supreme! We find ourselves having to race through Azeroth's past - the Gnoll War, the War of the Shifting Sands, and the Pandaren Revolution. Finally, we find ourselves so far in the path, the Titans hadn't even arrived on Azeroth yet: Ny'alotha, the Black Empire, when the Old Gods ruled Azeroth. Here, Chromie and Eternus - both wanting to get back to their timelines - have reached an agreement, and we are able to return once again to our current timeline.
The Mother Oathstone
Last of all, in what appears to be the final chapter, we journey with Alexstrasza to Tyrhold, where she plans to activate the Mother Oathstone and restore the Aspects' powers. To Alexstrasza's horror, the Mother Oathstone does not react, and we are interrupted by Razageth, who mocks any hopes to restore the Aspects before leaving for the Vault of the Incarnates, the first raid we will enter in Dragonflight. And for now, that seems to be pretty much it - though we suspect there may be more to the story yet to come...
