Pre-order World of Warcraft: Exploring Azeroth - Kalimdor
Like the first book, this one seems to be a stylized lore compendium written from the point of view of the in-game characters. Zekhan, who was made ambassador of the Horde Council during the events of
, is on a mission to explore and document information about as much of Kalimdor as he can. Famed Hunter and hero of the Horde, Rexxar, has been enlisted as both his guide and his guard. The preview pages include Zekhan's notes, Rexxar's thoughts, and letters from Thrall, Rokhan, and Velen.

While a great deal has been happening in Shadowlands, this book serves as a gentle reminder that there's still quite a bit to deal with on Azeroth as well. The letters from Thrall (to Zekhan) and Rohkan (to Rexxar) make it clear that both are well aware that the peace with the Alliance is still very new and fragile. There's a sense of the legacy of previous Warchiefs still hanging over the Horde's head, the Horde Council showing a level of caution and thoughtfulness that was entirely absent under the rule of Sylvanas and Garrosh. It's made clear to Zekhan that the Night Elves do not recognize the legitimacy of the armistice, and that it's Zekhan's responsibility - and by extension the Horde's - to avoid anything that might result in violent conflict.
Zekhan's notes are charmingly enthusiastic, and we laughed at his assumption that lions must really flourish in the Eastern Kingdoms, as the Alliance adopted them as their icon. (While some rare lions can be found in the Eastern Kingdoms, they cannot be said to flourish.)
The delicacy of the armistice is shown again in a letter from Velen. Though he grants permission for Zekhan and Rexxar to visit Azuremyst Isles - largely, it seems, because Velen is familiar with Rexxar - the Draenei leader once again warns that Horde presence will not be tolerated in Night Elf lands for any reason - and is clear that the Night Elves are justified in their anger. It's clear that Zekhan's mission will be a delicate and difficult one, which is of course why Rexxar was chosen to accompany him.
Join famed hunter Rexxar, his animal companions, and Horde Ambassador Zekhan as they make the perilous journey across the lush and vivid reaches of Kalimdor to learn the secrets of the realm. Leave no stone unturned and no tracks unfollowed as Rexxar and Zekhan reveal lore, insights, equipment, and breathtaking landscapes from the ramparts of Orgrimmar to the golden plains of Mulgore to the wilds of Un’Goro Crater―and share one final kindness with a friend along the way. Featuring stunning, immersive artwork and new insights crafted by Blizzard’s own loremaster, Sean Copeland, Exploring Azeroth: Kalimdor is your next step in a remarkable journey across Azeroth.
