New Classes Hinted for Diablo Immortal - Interview with Game Informer
Diablo Immortal Gameplay Today First Look Video
recently posted a great video to YouTube, which is embedded below. In addition to streaming footage of the game on both PC and Mobile, which is gorgeous, there are interviews with Wyatt Cheng, Game Director of Diablo Immortal, and Rod Fergusson, General Manager of the Diablo Franchise. There are a few interesting and exciting points made in the interview. This is a video that will be well worth your time if you are a Diablo Fan.
We've summarized some of the key points and content below, for reference.
Diablo Immortal PC Experience
The open beta is for the PC client only, everything else is fully release ready, the same game across multiple platforms. This will be the entire mobile game, but playable on your PC as well as your mobile devices. Wyatt talked at length with Game Informer about how they created the PC version in response to the way players were using the game during the Alpha and Beta, and how many players were asking for a PC version.
Diablo Immortal Social Aspects
This is the first Diablo MMO. What makes it an MMO? The game world is bigger than the person who is playing it. Sanctuary is now there, even when you log out. Your can have your Warband: an eight player group, with plans to introduce new content for eight players including 8v8 PvP You can also join a 100 person Clan, with clan level content including clan versus clan challenges. It's also soloable, so you can choose how you want to play and who you want to play with.
Diablo Immortal Endgame Progression
World Paragon Level, which goes up each day from release, is the main endgame progression system. There is a catchup mechanic via a bonus that goes down as you approach the World Paragon level. Rod mentioned that this is kind of like the "rested" mechanic in other games like WoW.
Diablo Immortal Will Be a Living Game
This was one of the most exciting sections of the interview. There will be ongoing new content,
, new raid bosses, and possibly other expansions going forward. We didn't get any further details, yet. Diablo Immortal has very rich progression systems, since players like goals to pursue. There will always be something worthwhile to do.
Diablo Immortal Class Change Mechanic Coming
Coming soon after release, there will be a way to change your class, rather than playing many 'alt' characters. There will probably be a cooldown, but you can keep most of your progress on your new class. The intent is not to switch classes for different content, but also to prevent people losing all their progress if they decide they want to try something different.
