MDI - A Look at West Time Trials #1, MDI East Time Trials
The first week of MDI West's Time Trials are over and we take a look at the compositions of the runs. In addition, the first MDI East Time Trials are about to begin and the dungeons and affixes have been released.

A Look at West Time Trials #1
Let's take a look back at the results for this previous week of Time Trials. Thanks to

The overwhelming majority of Tanks are
A very small amount of Protection Paladins and
Blood Death Knights
Protection Warriors are likely used for their high Tank Damage using the
build. They also do very well versus Physical Damage and provide the very melee heavy comps with real
The overwhelming majority of Healers are
A very small amount of Holy Paladins and
Restoration Druids are likely used for their high Healer Damage when catweaving using
. During down times of low healing, the healer can add in a lot of extra damage. Druids are also the source of a Battle Resurrection ability in most groups, since a Blood Death Knight is no longer meta, and have the ability to
off the Raging affix.
Overall, the majority of the damage dealers are melee. They generally have the higher damage overall, as well as having shorter cooldown interrupts, more Crowd Control ability and are generally more survivable.
Outlaw Rogue is the star of this MDI with every group having at least 1, if not 2. They have a lot of utility in
(a non-combat CC),
(another CC) and high cleave DPS due to
affix plays to Outlaw's strengths of high DPS in large groups of mobs.
Windwalker Monk makes a return from the last MDI with many groups using one. They complement Outlaw Rogues by providing a flat 5% Physical Damage buff
, an AoE stun
and high DPS.
Havoc Demon Hunter is the third heavily used DPS. They have another non-combat CC
, bring the 5% magic debuff
, an AoE stun
, a Raid Cooldown
which gives 100% dodge for 1 second, which is useful for a couple dungeon mechanics.
Unholy Death Knight was not used much overall, however it was common to use an Unholy for the Underrot Dungeon. Unholy Death Knights DPS have
with the number of mobs and when you're against the clock you have to pull big. One of the main points in Underrot where you'll gain time is Cragmaw's room and if any group was able to pull that entire room at once, Unholy DK would shine and save a lot of time. Be on the lookout for more Unholy Death Knights going forward, depending on the dungeon.

MDI East Time Trial Keys
Yesterday, Blizzard announced the 3 Time Trial Keys for the MDI East Region. Each group will only have 5 attempts at each dungeon and they will be completing them while the West Region is competing in the MDI Cup #1.
Each dungeon takes place at Keystone Level 18.
