While BlizzCon 2019 teased the appearance of Kael'thas Sunstrider in
Shadowlands
, it's been pretty quiet on the alpha for this character, with no sign of him outside of
Encounter Journal datamining
. On the latest Shadowlands Alpha build, we finally managed to datamine some voiceovers from the elf himself!

As you can see, Magister's Terrace was merely a setback.
True arrogance is wasting time pestering a bound soul when the Shadowlands are in peril!
Revendreth is the zone souls that have committed many sins are sent to in the afterlife. Here, they are allowed to atone for their crimes, instead of being sent to the Maw. Kael'thas, originally the leader of the Blood Elves, formed an allegiance with the Burning Legion and throughout
Warcraft III
and
The Burning Crusade
, shifted from the protagonist of the story to the antagonist.
This likely takes place during the
, after Kael'thas is rescued on the
Sun King's Salvation
raid encounter in Castle Nathria. Kael'thas himself is aware as to why he is in Revendreth, and the tone of his voice is much more distressed than his past versions, but he still holds some semblance of pride and still seems to believe to have done the right thing for his kin, although he does hold some contempt about his deal with Kil'Jaeden.
In past builds, we also managed to datamine
voiceovers from The Accuser
, one of the beings responsible for torturing souls in Revendreth. The Accuser was shown to be torturing Kael'thas pointing out his many mistakes in life, as they attempt to remove excess anima from Kael'thas' soul.
